Hope you enjoy!

BTW. I wrote this well listening to Fiction by Beast. I would recommend to listen to it well reading, but it's not necessary, it just adds to the affect of everything. Or at least that's what I thought reading this over.

Chapter 7

Broken Bonds

Light flooded the train as it broke through the tunnel. All around him, the horror-stricken faces of the passengers were now visible; some of which lay trembling on the ground, well others ran from compartment to compartment, trying to figure out what was happening.

Then the train derailed.

It was then that time seemed to freeze. A sort of haze settled over his mind. It was a weird feeling to say the least. He felt not one bit of fear, as his eyes unconsciously scanned the compartment; People were crying, desperately clutching onto each other, as tears streamed down their faces. Some sat huddled alone, silently muttering prayers, begging God to take pity on them. Children were held in their parents laps, their mothers and fathers whispering comforting words in their ears. Where as some people were frozen, staring off into space, as if they were remembering a past memory from their childhood.

The minute the train hit the cement below, everything went black, the screams of the passengers instantly fading away. He clenched his eyes shut, waiting for the pain, but nothing came. After a few minutes of silent waiting, he struck up the courage to slowly open his eyes.

White.

It was everywhere, surrounding him in a tranquil light.

Letting himself relax, he hesitantly rose to his feet. His head turned from side to side, trying to find an end to the never-ending whiteness that surrounded him like a peaceful haze.

"Kaidoh,"

At the sound of his name being spoken, he spun around, coming face to face with Inui.

"Inui-senpai," He greeted, glad to know he wasn't alone, wherever they were. "Fshuu, where are we?"

Inui chuckled, the sound of his laughter echoing around the void of white. "Well I would have thought that would have been obvious," He explained and Kaidoh jumped in realisation.

"You mean we're in hea-" He was cut off by Inui who shook his head.

"Not Heaven, but the place in between Heaven and Earth," Inui took a step forward, glancing around. "As to why we are here and not Heaven, still remains very much a mystery."

Out of nowhere, the sound of footsteps echoed around the void, causing the two of them to turn their heads in the direction the sounds were coming from.

A smile stretched on Inui's face as the two figure's came into view.

"Ah, how nice of you two to join us,"

Silence echoed throughout the miniature, white hospital room. No one spoke.

No one dared to.

Yuuta stood frozen in place. His eyes wide and his hands trembling.

This wasn't happening.

This couldn't be happening.

Oh please someone tell him this wasn't happening.

"We found him impaled from one of the trains supporting beams."

Shut up.

"Search and Rescue found him and managed to free him."

Please, stop talking.

"He died minutes after arriving. There was nothing we could do to save him."

Oh God, Aniki.

"I'm sorry for your loss."

Yuuta paid the nurse no heed as she exited the room. His eyes stayed locked onto his brother's unmoving form. Sadness welled up inside of him, but still, he couldn't look away.

Syusuke lay on the bed, eyes closed and lips slightly parted. If it wasn't for the pale white that had replaced the original colour of his brother's face, his Aniki might as well have been sleeping.

"Yuuta," Mizuki spoke up, but Yuuta only stood there, staring down at his brother, shaking his head in denial.

He's dead.

A voice inside his head spoke.

No he's not!

Yuuta shook his head as tears welled up in his eyes, threatening to spill at any given moment.

He's dead.

The voice repeated.

No he's not! He can't be dead! I spoke with him last night. He was perfectly fine!

Yuuta drew a deep shaky breath. The silence of the hospital room rang in his ears. It surrounded him in a rush, swallowing him in its huge jaws, along with the last of his sanity. Still he stared down at his brother, dead stiff.

He couldn't stand anymore, he felt so weak. His hands shook, his breathing quickened. He couldn't believe... It was really real. Everything was really happening. All of it.

Without any warning, Yuuta turned so his back was facing his brother's limp form, no longer able to look at the life ending bed. He began to walk, his numbness controlling him. He ignored Mizuki's voice, calling him back, as he exited the room. Honestly, Yuuta didn't know where he was going. He just needed to go, to get away from the room.

Within seconds, he was running through the halls. He didn't notice the people or the shouts that followed him. Nothing. He just ran.

He didn't look back.

Before he knew it, he found himself on the roof. How he had gotten there, he didn't know. He let himself fall back against the brick wall, sliding down to the ground.

Yuua screwed his eyes shut and a single tear slipped down his cheek. Within seconds he was full-out sobbing.

His brother was dead.

His brother was actually dead.

Never again would he ever have a conversation with his brother, or play against him in a tennis match. Never again would his brother tell him how much he had missed him. Never again, would Yuuta ever get the chance to say how sorry he was for being such a horrible brother.

Never again.

"Goddamn it!" He cried, voice echoing around the roof, filled with nothing but pure agony. A loud clap of thunder sounded above him and before he knew it, rain was pouring from the grey clouds overhead.

It began slowly, drop by drop, the fat, splattering drops of summer rain, but it quickly got harder, until it was the kind that had you soaking to the bone in seconds. The constant battering of rain became a thick mist, distorting the surrounding scenery like frosted glass.

Pain wrenched at his heart, everything nothing but excruciating torture. The worst thing was, he had never even gotten the chance to say goodbye.

"Why.." He cried, his body racked with sobs. "Why Syusuke?"

"WHY? GOD DAMN IT! WHY? WHY MY BROTHER?!" He screamed at the top of his lungs into the driving rain. "Give me back my brother...please...please...just give him back..." He cried, burying his head into his knees.

"Please..." He whispered.

The steady beep of a heart monitor filled the otherwise silent hospital room.

The nurse in charge of looking after the room's patient, moved to and fro, careful not to disturb any of the complicated machinery.

She glanced down at the sleeping patient and shook her head. It was sad to see someone so young, be caught in something as awful as the train derailment. A least he had been one of the lucky few to survive.

Glancing at her watch she noticed it was time for her break. She exited the room, not returning until five minutes later.

She entered the room and silently shut the door, careful not to make any noise, before she turned to the bed. Her eyes widened in shock and she froze, staring down at the patient, who was now staring open-eyed at the roof.

"Ah you're awake!" She spoke, quickly pressing the button on the wall which would call the doctor.

A/N

How was it?

Who exactly died other than Fuji, Kaidoh and Inui?

Who survived?

What will Yuuta do now that his brother's dead?
