Chapter 7: Vet Visits
Gao Red of the Gaoranger team was snoring peacefully in his bed. Or at least, he was until Gao Lion, his animal mecha and pet pounced onto the bed and licked his helmet!
"Morning already?" Gao Red yawned as he woke up. "Well time to get to work."
A quick washing up and breakfast later, and Gao Red was on his way to work. Gao Red was a veterinarian. While his job usually consisted of maintaining the health of standard pets, he also frequently saw animal mecha from other animal-based sentai.
"Let's see who's first." Gao Red looked at the clipboard listing today's appointments. "Ah! Here we are! Ginga Red with Gingalion? You can come on through."
Gao Red led Ginga Red who had Gingalion in a cat carrier into his main office.
"So. What seems to be the trouble with your feline friend?" Gao Red asked as Ginga Red opened up the carrier. And a fireball shot out of Gingalion's mouth! Gao Red ducked out of the way quickly, and looked at Ginga Red. "Did you put a lot of hot sauce in his food lately?"
"Oh, no! He's supposed to do that!" Ginga Red waved his hands in front of him frantically! "But, he's been doing it almost nonstop since yesterday! And now Gingalion's throat's starting to get all sore from the constant shooting."
Gingalion let out a sad roar as Ginga Red patted his back.
"Hmm. I believe I know how to fix this." Gao Red nodded as he fetched a bottle of milk from the fridge. "I think you've been letting the fire in his belly burn a bit too hot. One bowl of milk a day should do the trick. This bottle should keep him from belching out any more fireballs for a good while."
"Thanks, doc!" Ginga Red beamed. "The rest of my team is here for their own pets too! In fact, I think a few other animal sentai are out there!"
"Huh?!" Gao Red peeked out his office window, and his visor widened when he noticed the teams of animal-based sentai gathered in the building! "Oh boy. It's gonna be a looong day."
The next appointments didn't go any smoother. Gigarilla went ape and nearly trashed the office when he needed a shot, and it took a pile of bananas to get him to sit still long enough for the shot to be administered. Gingalcon kept pecking at Gao Red's head, and a cone needed to be put around its head. Gingaverick and Gingat were a lot better-behaved, but their inability to stay still proved to be a hassle.
"Alright. Next up is. . . Gekiranger." Gao Red announced. "Well, their main team is only three people. It should be a lot easier than the typical five-man-band."
Unfortunately for Gao Red, it was not any easier. Especially since the primary three Gekirangers' mecha beasts were all big cats. Cheetah was dashing all over the office and made a mess of the place, Jaguar hissed and scratched at Gao Red whenever he tried to inspect the big cat, and the tiger just kept pawing away at anything within swiping range.
"We're sorry for this!" Geki Yellow apologized along with her teammates.
"It's fine!" Gao Red waved it off. He was riddled with scratch marks and one of the sleeves of his coat was torn, but he was otherwise fine. "I've got my own big cat at home. I know how much of a handful cats can be."
The next animal sentai team, the Zyuohgers, were a much quicker appointment due to their mecha beasts being cubes. All Gao Red had to do was make sure they were quite literally in their proper shape.
"Alright. Let's see who's. . . oh no." Gao Red paled when he saw the last visits for the day. It was all the dinosaur sentai teams. And when he saw the long line in the waiting room, the clipboard clattered to the floor. Taking a deep breath, Gao Red steeled himself. "Alright then! Bring in the next patient!"
To say inspecting the pet mechas of the dinosaur sentai was eventful would be an understatement. The T-Rex-based mechs had the tendency to accidentally bite his head when inspecting their mouths. Any pterodactyl mechs in the group had the tendency to peck him on reflex. The triceratops nearly poked him with their horns whenever he had to move their heads. Mechs with weapon-like tails like the stegosaurs and ankylosaurs nearly sent Gao Red flying whenever they had to turn around! As for the brachiosaur mechs, Gao Red had to break out a ladder to reach them properly! With the last of his appointments done, Gao Red breathed a sigh of relief as he removed his coat and grabbed his lunch for the day.
As he sat down, he was surprised to see the Carrangers at a nearby bench on their lunch break too! The vehicle-based sentai was covered in grease stains and oil! This spoke volumes about how much more vehicle mecha for sentai teams than animals.
"Busy day?" Gao Red asked.
"You have no idea." The Carrangers replied in unison.
