I parked my car at my flat.(A flat is an apartment complex, and there usually are about six flats inside of a block with a small arched driving entrance.) I had pretty good neighbors, though I only knew a few of them in my flat. There was Dasha and Onya, sisters who share an apartment. They both had remarkably dark hair and eye brows. I smile, As I remember the two of them arguing and debating across the hall from me. There is also an elderly couple on the floor below. They are on the ground floor, while I'm on the second floor with two more floors above me.
I pull out my phone and make a call. "Здравствуй, вы можете мне помочь? Мне нужна помощь, чтобы перенести пакет в мою квартиру."
Hello, can you give me a hand? I need help carrying the package to my flat.
There was a short while of silence before I replied, "Спасибо Олег." And Oleg was there within minutes. "I'm real sorry about what happened," he says as he opens the passenger door. "Thanks," I say pretending to be optimistic with my friend. "So, how should we do it?" I ask. "I think I'll carry him and you'll get the doors," he replied. He grabs Ethan under the shoulders and lifts him up in his arms. "What if someone sees us?" I ask nervously as I scan the yard. "I'll think of something," says Oleg, "Are you ready? I nod and then shut the passenger seat Oleg just emptied. Let's get this over with. I head over to the heavy metal door and open it for them.
Once inside, we head for the stairs. However, before we reach them the elderly couple opened their door, thereby blocking the stairway. At this point I am really nervous, as I see their confused and questioning glances. "Он в порядке?
Is he alright?
They ask. Oleg then clears his throat."Да, он в порядке. Он просто так напился, он потерял сознание. Его девушка здесь дает ему место, где он может остаться на день. только что замочи, он потерял сознание," he says.
Yes, he is ok. He just got so drunk he passed out. His girlfriend here is giving him a place to stay for the day.
"Хорошо, увидимся позже Наталья,"
Ok, see you later Natalia(pronounced Nuh-tal-ya', but spelled Natalya or Natalia.)
stated the elder gentleman as the the Mrs waved goodbye to Natalia. After they left the flat I sighed in relief. "Молодец, Олег!" I congratulated him. He smiled, "we still have one floor to go." Oleg then lifted Ethan up higher as we climbed up the stairs.
We made it to my door without anymore occurrences, I reach forward and open the door. My place is fairly large. I have a large entryway, to the left is my big room with a couch and closet in it. To the right is my large living room with a kitchen behind it. And strait from the entryway is the master bathroom. I shut the door behind Oleg and show him in. "Over here," I say pointing to the couch in my bedroom. "Why bother hiding him?" He asks. "And he is much too tall for this love couch in here," He remarks. "Fine, put him on my living room couch then," I reply. He picks Ethan of the small couch and lays him down on the living room couch. Oleg stuffs a pillow under his head, while I throw some blankets over him.
"I would like to have a look at his head, do you mind?" Asks Oleg. "No, go ahead. I'll be in the kitchen making some tea," I reply. I leave soon after Oleg starts unwrapping Ethan's bound head. The governor most of had some of his own first responders look him over. I'll make Oleg some black tea, knowing thats what he likes best. Soon the waters hot, so I throw two spoons of loose tea in a teapot with the water. I take out some cookies from the store in my cabinet and put them on a plate. "Here you go," I say as I hand him his cup tea and set the cookies on the living room table. "Thanks!" He says as he starts wrapping Ethan's head again.
"How does it look?" I ask. "Not very good, but he'll live, I suppose," Said Oleg. I became quiet, as I wondered if I could even call the doctor without trouble from the Governor. Oleg takes a bite of cookie as he sips his tea. "You know I feel sorry the situation you're in, honestly I do. And It makes me feel bad when I'm the one who didn't check the box before I brought it for you. Please don't blame yourself, and please let me help you. If you need anything or some help with him give me a call. I should go, I need to call my Mom and tell her I'm back. Thanks for the tea and cookies," he said as he pulled on his coat and gloves. "до свидания!" I smile, "до свидания Олег, передай от меня привет маме!"
Goodbye Oleg, say hi to your mom for me.
" Конечно," and with that Oleg was out the door. I smile, every time Oleg comes he never fails to encourage and cheer me up. I guess that's just him and he will always be that way!
I was just about to sit down for another cup of tea when my phone rang. "Здравствуйте кто это? On the other line I heard, "Это Губернатор Волков. Могу я зайти к другу? Он доктор."
This is Governor Volkov, May I come with a friend? He is a doctor.
" Да, ты можешь,"
Yes, you may
I reply. " Хорошо, увидимся через 20 минут," he replied before hanging up. And 20 minutes later a car parked by my car. I stop looking out the window as I make sure my flat is tidy and neat. Then I head to the door as I hear the door bell. "Welcome! Right this way gentlemen," I say as I lead them over to Ethan on the couch. I pull two chairs from the kitchen for them to sit on, "Have a seat, please. Would you gentlemen like anything?" I ask. "Tea will do," says the doctor. Realizing that he didn't introduce himself he added, "And I'm Doctor Aslanov." "I would also like some tea," added Governor Волков. "Ok, I'll be right back."
I came back about five minutes later with tea and some cookies and chocolates. "Please help yourselves," I say as I set a tray down on the table. "How is he?" I ask the doctor. "I wish there was a simple answer, but we don't know right now. He is mostly stable, but that could change. However, I do know that his blood pressure is slightly stronger than when I checked earlier today. "And has he sowed any signs of consciousness?" The doctor asked. "No," I reply. "Ok, I'll just check one more thing before I go then." He says as he starts pulling Ethan's right eyelid open and shines a light at it. Then he repeated that with the second eye. "Well, his pupils are responding to the light, so that's a good sign," he concluded.
"Do you think he will have any permanent damage?" I ask. "No he should recover completely with time, and he is showing good signs of returning to consciousness soon. He may have problems with comprehending at first, but that shouldn't last long, he replied." "How should I best take care of him?" I ask. "Make sure he gets food and water when he regains consciousness and it is extremely important that doesn't get up and hurt his head again. Also change the gauze on his head everyday and gently rub antibiotic cream on it." He finished as the governor and him head toward the door. "Take as much time as you need for him to get better," says Governor Волков. "I may also drop by to check on him if I have time," he says as the doctor and him leave my flat.
I feel like I'm beginning to get a headache just thinking about Ethan. At least the doctor thinks he will be alright, and that he will be conscious soon. I sigh, and sit down on a chair across from Ethan. I pick up a book I'm reading and flip to my bookmark. I hear a nock at my door, it's Doctor Aslanov. "Did you leave something," I ask. "No, I just what to give you my card. Please call me when he is conscious again for I would like to check up on him then." I grab the card, "Thank you." "Your welcome," he says as he shuts the door between us. I pick up my book again and start reading only to get lost somewhere on the third page as I fall asleep.
How was this chapter? I love learning Russian, I've currently finished one quarter and I am on my second. I've been to Minsk Belarus, so all of the flat imagery is from the flat we stayed in. I did use google translate, so if any words or spelling are wrong please tell me in the comments. I know some people probably hate that I used google translate, but Russian suffixes are horribly challenging and I don't know very many Russian words right now. Thanks for reading and please review! :)
