Chapter 3: The Blue Menace

Ruby finished putting on her uniform. She and her team had managed to wake up early for once, so they had an hour to eat before classes started. It was exciting to be settling in at the school of her dreams. As far as her team itself went however, the young huntress had rather mixed feelings.

"Could you have taken any longer to have gotten dressed?" Weiss snapped impatiently as she and the rest of the team were already waiting by the door.

Weiss is a total bitch!

"Lay off princess. We are actually early today so what's the rush?" Yang replied, opening the door for them to leave.

Yang is totally awesome!

"I'm a heiress not a princess!"

"Whatever. Lets just eat already." Blake remarked already leaving the door. Her eyes never leaving her scroll.

Will Blake ever put that scroll down and socialize with us!?

She and the rest of team RWBY had been here for a week now. Things seemed off to a shaky start however, as she was getting rather tired of Weiss acting like a prick all the time and Blake never really seemed interested in socializing. Instead the black-haired girl would ether get into it with Jaune or be on her scroll…Probably texting Jaune.

As they made their way to the cafeteria, they spotted a familiar team who was bunked in the room to the left of theirs. Team KAML or team KAMD as Darkness preferred since she seemed embarrassed of her real name Lalatina for whatever reason.

"Yo!" Kazuma waved.

"Good morning team KAMD" Ruby responded with a smile.

At least these four were friendly. But Aqua seemed to have it in for Jaune, claiming he was evil or something like that. Personally Ruby just couldn't see it. The two teams finished morning greetings and finally reached the cafeteria before stepping in line to get breakfast.

The cafeteria was massive as hundreds of students got their meals and sat at various tables in sometimes groups of twelve or even higher. Despite how packed that might seem it still had a spacious feel to it and the artistic bright colors were pleasing to the eye especially as the sun shone through the large windows. It really just gave Ruby a hopeful feeling for the day despite all the bickering.

"There he is!" Aqua pointed with her arm outstretched in accusation. "I'm going to purge him for good this time!"

Just as the blue haired girl was about lung at Jaune she was pulled back with a yelp by Kazuma. "Will you stop with that already!?"

"But Kazuma! He's evil! You know I can sense evil and undead creatures and he is an abomination unlike anything I've ever seen before!"

"Yeah, I'm a demon or something, right?" Jaune replied mocked sarcastically as he and his team were already at a table eating.

Aqua glared at him before attempting to attack him, but was once again pulled back by Kazuma.

Team JNPR led by Jaune was a rather interesting bunch as far as Ruby was concerned. First the ever-famous invincible girl and champion of Mistral Pyrrha Nikos was on that team. Next was the pair Ren and Nora, who seemed to be total opposites, but got along like best friends. Ren was silent and calm for the most part, but always friendly. Nora shared in Ren's friendliness, but was super bubbly and energetic.

Then there was Jaune. He was more the silent type like Ren and Blake, but he hadn't done anything that she had seen to be labeled evil or an abomination.

The three teams were now finally seated with Kazuma still keeping Aqua from assaulting Jaune.

"So Jaune how's your morning going?" Ruby inquired hoping her friendliness would ease some of the thick tension in the room.

"It's going well. All things considered." The blond replied eyeing Aqua.

"Heh, that's good." The young huntress grinned. "I just hope professor Ports class won't make me fall asleep again."

"Sa-"Jaune interrupted as he yelped up from the table and cursed in pain.

"What happened!?"

"That blue haired shit just kicked me in the shin under the table."

"Aqua!" Kazuma whacked his teammate upside the head. "I'm really sorry about her."

"Ouch! D-Don't think you can escape the wraith of the holy Goddess Aqua!" she stated ignoring Kazuma's scolding.

Jaune sighed. "And I'm done with this already." He stood up and left suddenly.

Ruby felt her heart sank as it seemed like he was going to come out of his shell. "Wait Jaune!"

The blond just ignored her as he dumped his food and left.

"We'd go after him, but he already told us to just leave him be if he ever leaves." Ren explained.

"Nice job Aqua! You pissed off our fearless leader." Nora accused leaning across the table. "If you kick him again, I'll break your knees."

"I don't normally condone violence, but I think I'll have to side with Nora on that." Pyrrha threatened.

"You don't understand! I've seen and fought his kind before. He is made from something really old and evil! He is up to no good." Aqua maintained. Megumin and Darkness seemed all too used to Aqua ramblings and decided to just stay out of it as long as things don't get too violent.

Ruby frowned.

Maybe today wasn't going to be such a good day after all.

"That stupid useless Goddess. I swear if she kicks me one more time, I'm going to smack the shit out of her." Jaune muttered to himself as he decided to go to the roof until classes were about to start. He liked to be alone as much as possible anyway. In fact, he wished more than ever he was alone drifting in the abyss back home. The cold nothingness that could swallow anything up was all he really wanted… There were a million other more talented agents his father could have sent anyway, so why him?

"Because if you don't prove yourself, you'll never get the throne."

His father's simple response echoed in his head from when he asked why he was even being sent to him.

"And without the throne I'd be considered nothing…" Jaune finished to himself.

The fallen prince rubbed his shin. "Fuck!" He cursed as his inward frustration grew. "Is this going to be what its like everyday!?"

His scroll vibrated in response.

"You skipping class killer?" – Annoying longhair emo.

"Fuck off Blake! Why do you even care?" Jaune cursed. The fact she even had his number was puzzling. Sure, he posted it on Vale Book. But he doubted Blake was someone to make an account on there. NinjaCat69 just left him on read when he asked her what BDSM was. He hadn't even thought of what to say to M1 one yet either.

Figures. I get ignored or am too cowardly to even talk to people I want to hear from and then am swarmed by people I want nothing to do with.

"Damn…I'm really getting this angsty teen phase nailed down aren't I?" He sighed. "I'm even more ashamed of myself now."

It's time for a drink!

Jaune decided he wasn't even going to attend class at all in that moment and sneak into the city to find a bar…That was open at 10 A.M.

Gaz sat on a nearby tree as she watched the angsty prince casually leap off the roof of the school. She couldn't help but chuckle as some of the students that were passing by yelled in terror as the prince hit the ground with a loud splat. He hadn't even bothered to use his wings it seemed. The purple haired gamer got a kick out of the shocked look on the students faces as Jaune casually got up from his fall and proceeded to walk to the nearby airships.

Pressing a button on her wrist, she activated her stealthtech and vanished from sight.

Jaune was glad to see he wasn't the only potential alcoholic in Vale otherwise he might not have found a bar that was open so early. Of course, he wasn't so self-absorbed to think he had the worst problems here. Still, how many of these drunks could say they got kicked by a goddess?

"Boo!"

Jaune jumped out of his seat and nearly knocked his drink over.

The laughing figure of Gaz Membrane appeared seemingly out of nowhere in front of him as she clutched her side.

"Fuck, I wished I'd been recording. That reaction was perfect!"

"Damnit Gaz! You nearly made me spill my beer. What are you even doing here?"

The gamer goth finally stopped laughing. "I finished my mission early so I was told to check up on your angsty butt. You're doing even worse then I expected."

"And what's that supposed to mean?"

"Jaune you're skipping class and spending all day in a bar like your going through a midlife crisis. You're not even twenty yet."

"Ah piss off. I was kicked in the shins by a water goddess and I'm stuck avoiding almost as many emos here as I am back in Hell. Give me a break will ya." The devil replied before downing the rest of his beer.

Gaz shrugged. "I just find it all really funny. I don't have my idiot brother to make fun of anymore so you're going to have to be the one to suffer now."

Jaune rolled his eyes. "You know I could crush you like a bug if I wanted right?"

"Yeah, but you won't."

"And why is that?"

"Cause you're too much of a pussy." Gaz laughed, taking a seat next to him. "Plus, we all know deep down you like getting teased by big titty goth girls."

Jaunes eye twitched. "I swear to my grandfather Gaz. Someday I'm going to snap and just massacre you all. Like for real. You, Stocking, Mandy, the twits back at Beacon. I'm going to leave you all a nice bloody mess of gore and then let the hellhounds feast on whatever remains."

"Mmm…Keep that dirty talking going daddy. I'm starting to get wet." Gaz smiled leaning into him.

Jaune sighed once again. "Bartender! Check please."

"Heh, we both know you're not going to stop here."

Blake found herself wandering the city after class. It was always nice to sneak away from the obnoxious blonde, the stuck up heiress, and the naïve team leader. But the blond she was looking for wasn't anywhere to be found.

Granted, it was a bit silly of her to think she would just be able to find him in the city. He had ignored her texts all day and it was a bit baffling. She was never the one who was ignored and when she overheard some students saying they saw a blond-haired boy fall off the roof and then just casually walk off into an airship and go to the city… She figured it had to be him since he hadn't been in class today.

The whole falling off the roof part was extremely strange needless to say, but she doubted he would tell her anything about that even if she asked.

Blake was about to call it quits when she when she stopped inside a club. A nightclub wasn't her type of place and she doubted it was Jaune's ether, but she was thirsty and didn't feel like waiting to get back to Beacon or hunting around for another place so she decided to suck it up and walk in for a quick drink.

She was glad she did. What she saw was about the last thing she could have expected from a recluse like Jaune.

The club was packed already despite the fact that sun was only just now starting to set. Loud music blared as couples kissed or chatted in various seats, groups of people were rocking the dance floor or getting drunk at the bar.

Ew. Maybe I should have just stayed home and tried to read.

As she got closer she saw the blond at a table with three girls. Two of them Blake recognized. They were twins and had a massive following on social media and even a loner like her could appreciate how well they rocked some of the outfits they posed in. One who was apparently the younger of the two had short black hair and was dressed in cute but flashy red and black dress with matching stockings. The older twin almost matched her sibling exactly, but preferred white as the color of choice and had longer hair that stretched down her back.

How does he know the Malachite twins?

The girl next to Jaune she didn't recognize. She had purple hair and wore a black corset with a red and black plaid skirt along with crimson red stockings. It was a rather interesting site next to Jaune's more baggy attire.

"Well I guess you didn't have to worry about what you were going to say to me online now."

"Yeah, you're not normally supposed to share your stuff publicly on Vale Book unless you know the person."

"Doesn't that take away the purpose of using it meet new people?"

"No Jaune you're supposed to talk and get to know someone first and then let them see your private stuff and maybe meet. Otherwise, you can get stalked or doxxed pretty easily. You're lucky we're more benevolent than that."

Blake approached the group a bit hesitantly, but by now she was far too curious to just walk away.

"Jaune? Fancy seeing you here." She played off innocently.

"Blake? What are you doing here?"

"I'm asking you the same thing." She replied joining them at the table.

"Jaune was just ditching class and getting hammered." The purple haired girl explained with a shrug.

"Reminds me of our high school days Miltia."

"Na, I actually had some self-control unlike you Melanie."

"So, who's your friend?" Blake asked, ignoring the twins' banter.

"I'm Gaz." She replied dismissively.

"Nice to meet you…" Blake turned to the twins. "So, you two met Jaune through Vale Book?"

"Sort of. Jaune was too much of a pussy to message me after liking my profile, but because he was also dumb enough to post all of his information and pictures publicly me and Miltia spotted him here and decided to go say hi to him and his lady friend here." Melanie explained.

"And all I wanted was some time to drink alone." Jaune mumbled as he took a sip of his drink.

"Could be worse. At least it wasn't Stocking that was sent to check up on you." Gaz shrugged pulling out her scroll. "By the way is Blake on your team or something?"

"No, I was on a different team, but we are still friends." Blake turned to Jaune. "Your team by the way is wondering where you've been all day."

"Look Blake, I have to call them a team inside of school, maybe, but out here outside of work they are just co workers way I see it and don't need to know where I am every second of every day." The blond deflected as he finished his drink.

"You know Jaune you don't have to be such an ass. And who's Stocking by the way?"

"You know Blake you don't have to be so fucking nosy ether." Jaune replied. "Stocking is evil incarnate."

"Stocking is Jaune's fiancée." Gaz informed.

"Fiancée!?"

"Yeah, but its an arranged marriage so until the knot is tied Stocking pretty much does whatever she wants with whoever she wants."

"Oh, I see…I didn't know people still did arranged marriages these days." Blake admitted with some confusion.

Jaune groaned.

"Jaune's just mad Stocking is the only one getting laid in their relationship, but I keep telling him if he put a bit more effort into it, he could get his dick wet too." Gaz grinned patting Jaunes back.

"Yeah, I'd take you up stairs Jaune. Would be nice to have someone other then a limp dick for once even if it is a virgin." Melanie offered.

"I seem to be getting a lot of those too. Guys here suck at sex!" Miltia complained loudly as if to make sure the guys around them heard her. "But I'd be happy to be your first Jaune."

"How do you know I'm not another limp dick?" Jaune asked with a hint of amusement.

"Because up until now you haven't even talked about your dick or tried to convince us how great its going to be." The twin in white explained.

"Yeah, in our experience it seems the ones who don't talk about sex all the time or try to hook up with us right away are the best ground pounders." The twin in red added.

"I honestly wouldn't mind if we stopped talking about it now altogether." Jaune replied picking up his now empty glass. "Looks like I need another drink."

Gaz waited for Jaune to walk to the bar before turning to Blake and the twins. "I've seen him naked before."

Blake just looked at her strangely while the twin's eyes lit up.

"Do tell!"

"You two are right." Gaz conformed. "Big tree trunk that guy."

Blake rolled her eyes. "And how did you see him naked?"

"I walked in on him in the shower." Gaz explained casually. "I know that's supposed to be what the generic ecchi harem protagonist does but I'm rather happy it was me in this case."

If Blake was going to hear this much about Jaune, then she was going to ask the only question that really mattered. "Is he into BDSM at all?"

The purpled haired girl gave another shrug. "Beats me, he never really shares anything about what he's into."

"I see…"

Jaune came back and placed his drink on the table loudly. "You all talking shit while I was gone?"

"Yeah, I told them about your small penis." Gaz replied.

"I thought you said you didn't see anything!?"

"You're right, I couldn't. Probably can't even with a microscope."

Jaune got up from his seat. "I-I need to go the bathroom a minute" and took off again.

Gaz turned back to face them. "Like I said. Fucking weapon on that one. Honestly I hope I can be there when Stockings smug face see's it for the first time."

"Why do you tease him like that?" Blake asked.

"Cause it's fun to make him think he actually has a micro penis. Not like he has seen any other type of male genitalia to compare it to."

Melanie grabbed Gaz's hand. "Damn girl you crazy. You should party with us more often."

"I agree." Miltia nodded.

"I feel like you're just hurting his self-esteem though." Blake added trying to be a voice of reason.

Gaz shook her head. "Even though I think its fun, I'm waiting for the part where he snaps and teaches me a lesson." Her smiled told Blake all she needed to know about that and then some.

"So, you two are just friends then? Or what?"

"I suppose we are. But I got other things in mind…"

"I thought you were dating this Zim guy?" Miltia asked confused.

"Off and on. He is mostly too stupid to realize it, however, but he is my kind of crazy." Gaz admitted. "Still, I'd hook up with Jaune just for the novelty of it."

Wow…This girl is something else. Just what kind of people does Jaune normally hang around with?

"Wait, how can Zim be too stupid to realize it?" Miltia took a sip of her drink still confused.

"It's complicated, but for the most part he thinks what me and him do is for the sake for science or whatever."

"Huh?"

"Yeah, it's not worth explaining further honestly. Just trust me."

Jaune stood looking at his penis in one of the bathroom stalls.

"It was hard when Gaz walked in on me that one day… And she still said its microscopic? I'm not even hard now and I can still find it easily." He held it in his hand. "But then again I've never really seen another guy naked before… Gaz has been with a few and is dating Zim so she must know more than me, right?" He ceased his muttering and zipped up his pants hoping no one heard him in the stall.

He was mad that despite drinking around town for most of the day he still didn't feel drunk. Maybe if he was, he wouldn't feel so self-conscious. "I guess it's time to move on to more than just beer."

Plus, the longer he was in the bathroom the more time Gaz had to tell embarrassing stories behind his back…compared to right in front of him…

"Yeah, I guess I'm fucked ether way."

Blake finally had gotten up to go to the bar and order something. Nonalcoholic for now. Jaune soon joined her.

"I'll take four shots of bourbon please."

Holy shit!

"Jaune I don't think your team is going to like you coming back to the dorms completely smashed."

"Yeah, and I don't like existing sober, so I guess either way one of us is going to lose."

Blake got her soda while Jaune got his four shots. She then paid for her drink right after he paid for his and gave the bartender a tip before walking over to their table with her closely behind.

"Oh, Jaune…You buy us all shots?" Melanie looked at the alcohol in his hand eagerly.

"Nope. These are all mine." He replied, sitting at the table, then proceeded to down his first two back to back.

"But didn't Gaz say you had been drinking all day?" Miltia pointed out still only sipping on her first drink.

"Yeah, that was just beer though." He replied after downing his third. "I-I need something now that will r-really dull the pain."

"Hate to break it to you Jaune, but if you want to get more than just lightly buzzed, I think someone like you is going to have to stick to the stuff we have back at home."

"You underestimate my resolve Gaz." Jaune spouted as he finished his fourth.

"Damn Jaune…I respect the fact you're not a total lightweight, but maybe you should take it easy?" Blake hoped he would see some form of reason.

"Nope."

"By all means keep drinking. I'd rather we all go upstairs and play some drinking games anyway." Melanie remarked. "That's when things get really fun."

Miltia sighed. "Every time we do that clothes seem to start falling off rather quickly..."

"Exactly! I want to see more of these pretty ladies and check out Jaune's tree trunk."

"My what!?"

Gaz snorted in laughter at his response.

And it was at this point Blake decided she had enough of this for tonight. "Yeah, that sounds great and all, but I think I'm going to hit the road." She turned to her fellow trainee "You should come back with me too before the last ship leaves for the night."

"Aw! You sure you can't join us upstairs?" The twin in white asked.

"Sorry. Blake is right, I guess I should head back too, and get some sleep." Jaune yawned.

"Yeah, I think I'm going to head out too." Gaz got off her seat. "Catch you later Jaune. Next time we'll smash!" She called out loudly as she made her way to the exit.

"Smash Bros! We'll play Super Smash Bros!" Jaune called after her. "Stop trying to cause misunderstandings."

The gamer girl turned around. "Yeah, yeah whatever. I'll be seeing you a lot more during the Vytal Festival by the way."

"Wait!? You are?"

"Yeah, we'll be coming from Haven as exchange students. I just came here for the weekend to check up on you."

"Oh, fuck…" Jaune muttered. "Who's your teammates?"

Gaz smiled. "Stocking, Mandy, and Zim of course. I'm sure Stocking will be the most excited to see you again."

Jaune didn't seem to share in that excitement. "I should have figured. Awfully convenient that you were all paired as a team."

"No doubt! Later, losers I got games to play now." And with that Gaz was out the bar door.

"Well, she's something…" Blake acknowledged.

Melanie watched Jaune and Blake leave. It was rather disappointing they didn't stay, but she was confident she would at least be seeing Jaune again soon after getting his number from him rather then just adding it from Vale Book without his permission. His sarcastic and yet insecure attitude was a strange mix that she hadn't seen before. At the very least it was refreshing to meet someone who could actually say no to her let alone both her and her sister offering to take him upstairs for his first time.

"Well that was certainly different." Miltia muttered as she lazily sipped on her drink.

"No kidding, interesting to see someone our age that's still a virgin, but doesn't act overwhelmingly desperate to lose it."

"For real. And that Blake girl has a fine ass. I had the fight to urge to smack it."

"Right? I really hope to seem those two again soon." Melanie stood up and stretched. "But I suppose for now there's other fish in the club."

"Yeah, lets go find some guys to scratch our itch." Miltia agreed. "I just hope they can last more than ten minutes."

"I'm not getting my hopes up on that part." The elder twin sighed.

The duo soon disappeared into the sea of dancing bodies on the dance floor to pick out their catch for the night.

Upon promising to hang out again soon Jaune exchanged numbers with the twins and finally left with Blake.

Hearing that four of Hell's most nefarious agents were going to be here during the festival left him in an unexpected bad mood. Strategically, it made sense, however, since Vale was going to be the staging ground for the invasion. Jaune didn't know much of what the pre-invasion set up plans were, so he could only guess as to what their true goals were going to be once they all arrived in Vale in a couple months.

"Are you going back into silent mode sister killer?" Blake asked as they got on the airship.

"Why are you holding on to that so tightly?"

"Because you're mysterious and I know next to nothing about other than you have a gamer friend and like to skip class to drink. For all I know you could actually kill someone's sister."

Jaune sighed. "It's too late at night for this."

"I'll be sure to bug you more about it in the morning then."

"Or you could just leave me alone."

"Meh, you're more entertaining then my team is so far."

"Maybe if you spent some time with your team you'd get along better."

"Funny coming from you."

"Shut up."

The two sat in silence as they finished their short ride back. When the airship touched down softly, they stepped off into the school courtyard.

The breeze felt cool and Jaune actually enjoyed the schools more nocturnal beauty. Despite the small amounts of light pollution, he could see the stars shining brightly together in a seemingly massive cluster.

"Night killer."

Jaune waved back at her. "Night bookworm."

Blake turned around and gave him a look before shrugging him off and heading to the dormitory.

Jaune waited and looked up at the night sky a bit longer, not really in any hurry to force himself to apologize to his team. He had to admit he was acting like a bit of an asshole and they didn't really deserve that. Still, pride was something that seemed to run in his family and he wasn't super eager to stop on it and admit he was acting in the wrong.

"YOU!"

Jaune jumped at the sudden noise and turned around to see the blue haired menace.

"Fuck…"

The goddess laughed. "Pitiful creature, my teammates aren't here to hold me back now. It's the end for you!"

Well, I guess apologizing is going to have to wait. Looks like I need to smack someone around first.

"You know what? Fine! Lets settle this Aqua."
