"I'm sorry could you repeat that?" I ask my eyes wide in shock. "I think I misheard you, did you say, Devil Master?"
Rias still very naked, and in a compromising position, she just keeps smiling at me. "Yes, I did Magnus."
"I… I know you love all things Japan Rias, but I think you might have-" What is the word I'm looking for? Chunibyo? That's it! "Middle-school syndrome." Wait why did I say it in English?
If the red-head was offended by my statement, she didn't show it. "I can understand this can be a lot to take in." Before I could say anything, Rias holds up her hand and…
"Fire!?" A literal flame appeared in her hand. "Uh… I would ask for you to show me what's up your sleeve, but you don't have any sleeves…"
The older girl closes her hand snuffing out the fire. "Not your best quip, I give it a two out of ten on." Rias says in a playful tone.
"Well, can you blame me? Given the situation-" The words died in my mouth, my body began to heave forcing me to double over. Oh god… Last night, Yuuma, me dying… The wings… "I… I died…?"
"It's okay Magnus." A pair of slender, soft arms wrap around my head, pulling me into a comforting embrace. "I know this is difficult to take in."
Rias and I stayed like that until both of our legs went numb, forcing us both to stand up… Which reminded me… We're still naked. Finding a clean pair of boxers, I slipped them on as quickly as I could. The action caused Rias to chuckle, but she began to dress as well.
As I found a pair of pants a thought crossed my mind. "Rias… Why were we naked? We… We didn't have sex… Right?" Don't get me wrong, I'm a healthy red-blooded guy and the thought of being with Rias like that… Well, I wouldn't exactly say no to that but the fact that we were both naked… I had the right to know.
An amused smirk places across Rias's features at that. "If I said yes what would you say?" When I began to stutter and stammer, the crimson-haired girl laughs. "Relax. To heal you I needed skin to skin contact."
"Oh… That makes sense… I think." Rias and I finished getting dressed and together we left my room, heading downstairs and into the kitchen. I start to look around for something to eat, Rias took a seat at the kitchen table. "Would you like something to eat? I'm not the best cook in the world, but I can promise that it will fill you up."
"Just some toast, thank you."
With a nod, I start on the order. "So… I have to ask… Since you said you are my Master, does that mean-"
"You are a devil, I had to reincarnate you." Rias leans forward with a frown.
A voice flashes through my mind, forcing me to wince. "So… You asked if I was willing to give up my human life."
"Given the amount of blood you lost, I'm surprised you remember." Rias looks at me in surprise.
"Bits and pieces… Everything is still a blur." I mutter as I pull the toast out of the toaster over. "Do you want anything on it?"
Rias folds her hands in front of her. "No, but thank you."
After handing Rias her breakfast, I get to work on my mine with a frown. "I still have… Well a ton of questions, about… Everything."
"I will do my best to answer." Rias says after swallowing some of her food.
"What exactly are devils? Are you… You know… Like related to the actual Devil himself? Why was I killed?" I ask with a frown.
Furrowing her brow the crimson red-haired teen lets out a sigh. "Devils are beings that come from the Underworld, we were born from the first Great Devil Lucifer and his wife Lilith. So, in essence, we are the beings mentioned in the Abrahamic religions. We aren't that different from humans, except for some key differences."
"Like what?" I ask as I lean against the kitchen table.
"Life span for one. On average devils can live for ten thousand years, barring any accidents, sickness, or murder." Rias smirks at me. "Just to clarify I'm eighteen, devils mature at the same rate as humans and once we reach physical maturity we stop aging. Mostly."
"That… Makes a lot of sense."
"As to why you were killed… Well, I have a few theories on that." Rias mutters darkly to herself. "Though it most likely has to do with the Sacred Gears."
There was that word again… Sacred Gears… "What are Sacred Gears?"
Rias sighs with a serious look on her face. "Sacred Gears were created by the God of the Bible, as part of a system to help enact miracles on earth. Sacred Gears vary among their users, and they all possess the potential to let their users etch their names into history. They even possess the power to affect supernatural beings like us. You must possess quite a powerful one if a fallen angel killed you."
"Fallen angel? Is that what Yuuma is?" I ask thinking about the black-feathered wings.
The devil lets out a sigh. "Yes. I found several black feathers around your body, and after consulting… Let's just say an expert, they've concluded that the feathers do indeed belong to a fallen angel." Rias crosses her arms with a sigh "Though why she would murder you is rather curious, normally their kind would try to recruit you."
"I… I think she mentioned something like that…. " I grip my head with a grimace. "Sorry, it's still pretty hazy."
"Don't worry about it right now." Rias stands and walks over, and places a hand on my shoulder. "Just rest for today, and try to come to terms with your new life."
I slowly nod at her words. "Right… Will you help?"
"Of course, as your Master it is my duty."
Rias and I spent the rest of the day talking, as she slowly helped me adjust to my new life. I found out some pretty crazy things about being a devil. Besides the fact that I'll most likely live for ten thousand plus years, (Which is incredibly frightening and cool) I also have night-vison, I can comprehend all modern human languages (written and spoken). Which means, any time someone speaks to me, or I read something. I'll hear or see it in my first language.
On top of that, I learned a bit more about devils and their-I mean our history. For thousands of years devils, angels, and fallen angels have been at war with one another. Angels fought for God, and their forces sought to destroy both fallen angels and devils. Fallen angels, according to Rias, fought to reclaim their place in Heaven hence why they try to kill devils. Devils initially fought for the Four Great Devil Kings, but after their deaths during the Great War, the great devil houses and the new kings didn't wish to fight. After the deaths of the first Devil Kings, the war has moved from open conflict to… Well, more of a cold war. Which was good for the devil side of things, because pure-blooded devils had a difficult time giving birth.
To help re-populate the Underworld, one of the newly appointed Devil King's created a reincarnation system for non-devils. Rias said she would explain the system at a later date. Which I was grateful for, there is a lot of new information to process. All of this history and knowledge took all day and by the end of it, I was completely and utterly drained.
"Well, I think that I should leave, it's pretty late and you look tired." Rias said after finishing dinner.
"Are you sure it's safe?" I ask the crimson-haired girl. "I mean… What if Yuuma is still out there?"
Rias smiles slightly but waves off my concern. "Thanks for your concern, but I can handle myself. Plus, I have backup."
"Backup?" I frown in thought for a moment before realization comes over me. "There are more devils in Kuoh?"
My master laughs. "I'm surprised it took you this long to ask but yes, there are others devils aside from us. You'll meet your fellow peerage members tomorrow after school, I will send someone to escort you to me."
"Oh, okay." I say with a small frown. "Wait we didn't even talk about my Sacred Gear-"
Rias pats my shoulder. "We'll talk more tomorrow. For now, try to get some rest, and if you need anything just call."
I slowly nod. "Alright, just be safe going home."
The crimson-haired teen smirks, as a bright red circle appears underneath her. "I think I'll be fine."
Rias vanishes from sight, leaving me alone in my kitchen. "So, she can teleport? That's cool…" With a sigh I start to clean up the kitchen, my mind raced with hundreds of unanswered questions. However, I would need to wait for tomorrow… How am I supposed to focus on school? Or more importantly, sleep!? With a heavy sigh, I leave the kitchen and make my way back to my room, changing into some sweats I start to workout. Hopefully, some physical exercise will help wear me out.
(Third Person POV, Rias's apartment:)
As she appeared in her apartment Rias saw she wasn't alone. "Hello Akeno, what brings you by so late?"
"I have the reports you wanted." The black-haired girl holds out a manila envelope.
The heiress takes the envelope and pulls out the papers. "I see. So the fallen have taken up residence in the abandoned church. Do they have any idea that Magnus is still alive? Or that we discovered their location?"
"None. They have a few agents inside, but the one known as Yuuma is gone." Akeno places her arms behind her back. "Our familiar's were very discreet in their information gathering, so they have no idea we were there."
Rias nods with a small frown. "Good, good… There is quite a number of exorcists in your report, could they be planning something? I'll need to inform Sona about this."
"I have already sent a copy of my report to Tsubaki, she is going over it as we speak." Akeno tells her best friend, who simply nods as she continues reading. "So… How is Magnus? Is he alright?"
"He's… Dealing with the situation as well as anyone can." Rias sets the papers down and crosses her arms.
Akeno bows her head in thought before speaking. "If he does have any issues, I'll speak with him. As his senpai, and reincarnated devil I can help. Along with Kiba and Koneko of course."
Rias smirks slightly at the last minute addition but decided not to comment on it. "Of course. Thank you for your work today Akeno, I'll thank the others when I see them tomorrow."
"It is my pleasure, President." Akeno bows once more. "If there is nothing else, I'll return home for the night."
"No there is nothing else, have a good night Akeno." Rias says goodbye and picks up the reports again. "What could they be planning?"
(First Person POV, Magnus. The following morning:)
I hardly slept at all…. Partially due to the fact I still had a lot of questions, but the main reason was… I was afraid. Afraid that Yuuma would find out that I'm alive, and hunt me down like a wild animal. When I arrived at school, I was a mess… My 'uniform' if you could call the half-put on blazer and unbuttoned white shirt a uniform, was wrinkled to hell and back.
"So… Tired…" With a large yawn, I lay my head on my desk. Maybe I can get in a nap at my desk before class-
"You jerk!"
The sudden noise forced me up. "Huh?" I look up to find myself face to face with irate Aika.
"Why didn't you show up to the party?" The brown-haired girl fumes angrily.
"Uh…" So what do I tell her? I can't tell her the truth, that I was murdered by my ex who is a fallen angel. Then I was brought back to life as a devil by Rias Gremory, who is also now the master of my soul. "… Something came up… I am sorry Aika."
Aika frowns and crosses her arms. "What happened? You look like crap."
"Let's just say…" I lick my dry lips with a thoughtful expression. "My ex is a bitch."
"Ex? Wait do you mean that Yuuma girl?" Aika places her hands on my desk and raises an eyebrow. "What happened?"
"It doesn't matter… Hopefully, I'll never see her again." Aika was going to ask more but stops as our teacher walks in, the brown-haired girl walks over to her desk, but she shoots me a look that says, 'we'll talk later'. Sorry, Aika but we won't… Not about this, or maybe anything else important again.
As the class went on I couldn't concentrate on it or anything that was going on. I kept thinking about… Well, everything! Is Yuuma going to come after me again? Who are the other devils in Kuoh? I had a hunch, but I wanted to make sure first. What is my Sacred Gear? Can I see my family again? Do devils celebrate Halloween? That last one was kind of stupid, but it at least made me laugh a little. Still, the more important questions kept haunting me throughout the day.
When it came time for lunch, I left my classroom in a hurry. I couldn't wait any longer for my answers. Pulling out my phone I sent a text to Rias, asking her to meet me on the roof. Once I was on the roof I stood near the edge with a frown. "I hope she comes." Five minutes go by when Rias walks through the door.
"I got your text, is everything okay-You look terrible." Rias says as she takes in my appearance.
I roll my eyes and cross my arms. "Really? I didn't notice."
"No need for sarcasm." The older girl chides, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "What's wrong Magnus?"
"Everything Rias, just everything… I… I can't wait any longer for answers, I need them to give me some peace of mind." I run a hand through my hair, doing my best not to shake. I quickly lay out the questions that have been bothering me all day. Rias patiently listened to my questions, and when I was finished the older girl pulled me into a tight hug. "I… What… ?"
"I am sorry Magnus; I know this is a lot. Just try to bear with it for a little longer? There are some questions I can't answer yet, mostly because I don't have all the answers myself." As she spoke the smaller girl rubs my back. "I can tell you two things; you can see your family. While you can't tell them about being a devil, it doesn't mean you can't be in their lives. Second, you don't have to worry about the fallen angel. She has no idea you are still alive."
Relief flooded my body, as I felt myself go slightly limp in Rias's arms. "I… I… Thank you."
"No thanks necessary, you are a member of my Household. As your master, it is my duty to take care of you." The older girl pulls away with a smile. "I am also your friend, and friends help each other."
I nod at her words with a grateful look. "Thank you, Rias. It means a lot."
"You should go and get some lunch; you're going to need it. Trust me. After school, just wait in your classroom. I'll send someone to collect you." Rias turns around and starts to leave, but as she gets to the door she stops. "Oh right." Rias snaps her fingers and a red magical circle appears underneath my feet, and in a flash of light, my appearance was very neat. Except for my hair. "Can't have you going to class looking like a mess, you are a member of my house after all. See you after school Magnus."
I would like to say that after that little talk all my worries went away, but that isn't how the world worked. The bigger issues like my family and Yuuma were pushed to the back of my mind for now. Which let me focus on the rest of my classes for the day, thankfully. Though as the end of the day drew closer I was becoming antsier and antsier. After what seemed like an eternity, classes ended for the day. Sadly, I was still stuck waiting for someone to come and get me and that left me at the tender mercies of Aika.
"You aren't going anywhere until we talk." Uh oh, her hands on her hips. She is serious. "What happened?"
I rub the bridge of my nose and huff. "Just… A lot. I'm not comfortable talking about it."
Aika's eyes widen slightly. "Okay, now I'm worried. Normally we can't get you to shut up."
"Aika… If I could talk about it, I would." I tell the girl. I want to tell her the truth, but I can't. I wonder if this is how superheroes feel? Can't tell their friends about any of this weird crap? "I'll try to make it up to you though. Promise."
"I rather know what happened." Sitting in the desk next to mine with a groan, Aika removes her glasses. "However, trying to get you to do something you don't want to do is like pulling teeth. So I'll let it go. For now."
"Thanks for being so understanding." I say with a grateful smile.
"Yeah, yeah." Aika waves off my thanks as she puts her glasses back on.
I was going to say more but a chorus of high pitched screams stopped me. "I know that sound." I mutter with a small smirk.
Walking into the classroom surrounded by a gaggle of girls is the Prince of Kuoh Academy himself. Kiba Yuuto. Kiba is a little shorter than I am, and he has short golden blonde hair with overhanging bangs and a single strand hanging from the top of his head. He has white skin and blue-gray eyes, with a small mole underneath his left eye. He is dressed in the typical Kuoh Academy male uniform. Which consists of a black blazer with white accents, a white long-sleeved button-down shirt that has black vertical lines. Instead of a tie, the uniform has a ribbon, with black pants and brown dress shoes.
Now despite the fact, he looks like a, and these aren't my words, a stuck up pretty boy. Kiba is a good guy and an even better friend he is one of the few guy friends I have at school. Okay, he is the only guy friend I have at school.
"I'm sorry ladies, but I need to speak to my friend." The blonde teen smiles good-naturedly as he politely excuses himself, and makes his way over to Aika and me. "Hey Magnus, Kiryuu-san."
"Hello, Yuuto-san."
I nod at the blonde. "Hey man, what's up?"
"Sorry to bother you, but could you come with me for a bit?"
I stare at Kiba in confusion before the realization hits me. "Sure." I stand up and start to leave. "I'll see you later Aika."
"You too." She waves.
As Kiba and I walk to… Where ever we were headed, I noticed that his fan club was following close behind with scowls. "Dude, how did you get all those girls to fall in love with you?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about." Kiba says with a neutral expression.
"Uh-huh, sure you don't." I roll my eyes with a small smirk. "You are the Prince of Kuoh."
Kiba smiles good-naturedly. "I'll make you a deal Magnus if you admit that you're the one that has terrorized our school with pranks. I'll finally admit to being the 'Prince' of Kuoh."
I cross my arms with a grin. "What? Me pull pranks? I have never been so insulted in my life, good day to you sir.
"Then I have no idea what you're talking about-"
"I said good day sir!" Kiba and I stopped walking and stared at one another, a few seconds go by before we start laughing. "So where are we headed?" I ask the blonde as we continue walking. I had an idea of where he was taking me, but I wanted to be sure.
"The Occult Research Club."
Kiba led me to the far end of the school, past the athletic field toward a large grouping of trees. Just past that is a three-story wooden building, with a large clock tower acting as the third story. Ivy crept along the front and sides of the building, giving it a mysterious feel to it. This used to be the old school building/dormitory, back when the school still did that sort of thing. When the new school was built, this place was left abandoned. At least until a couple of years ago when Rias re-started the Occult Research Club, the school gave them this building for their club room. Despite attending Kuoh for an entire year I have never been in this building.
"You ready Magnus?" Kiba asks with his arms crossed.
"Lead the way." I gesture to the building
The blonde nods as he opens the door and steps inside, I follow behind Kiba as the door suddenly shuts behind us. "Wait what?" I turn around in confusion. "How did that happen?"
"No idea what you're talking about, come on the president is excepting us."
President? Oh, Rias. "Right." As I walked up some stairs to the second floor, I saw a set of double doors with caution tape all over it. "What's that about?"
"It's nothing you need to worry about." Kiba doesn't even look at the door and kept walking.
I shrug and follow behind my friend. "If you say so." Why do I get the feeling that there is something dangerous behind there? Eh, I'm probably just imaging things. Kiba led me down a long hallway and until he stops in front of a door. On the door is a plaque that says, 'Occult Research Club'.
"Madam President." Kiba knocks on the door. "I brought him."
"Good, bring him in if you would." Rias's answers.
Kiba opens the door and motions for me to enter, with a nod of thanks I step into the room with a whistle. "Whoa, this is impressive."
The club room looks like something from a Victorian-era catalog. The floor is a dark brown marble, with a burgundy red carpet in the center of the room. On the carpet are two dark turquoise Victorian-style couches, with a wooded coffee table in between them. Just past the couches is a large wood desk with a comfortable looking chair, on the far side of the room is a set of double doors. Sitting on one of the couches is a petite girl with white hair and hazel/gold eyes, the front of her hair has two long bangs that go past her shoulders and several loose bangs hanging over her forehead. She also has a cat-shaped pin in her hair, which really suits her.
The girl looks to be about a year or so younger then I am, and is dressed in the female Kuoh uniform. In her hands is a plate with a slice of chocolate cake. This is Koneko Toujou, a first-year student and the unofficial mascot of the school. An unbelievably cute and petite girl that could eat you out of house and home.
"I believe you already know Koneko." Kiba steps into the room and shuts the door behind him.
"Hey, Koneko." I wave at the smaller girl. The first year nods politely then goes back to eating. "So where is-" Cutting me off mid-sentence is the sound of running water. "Is there a shower in here?" I ask the other two before they could answer the sound ended.
"Here you are president."
A couple of minutes go by and the wall near the desk opens to reveal Rias, the crimson-haired beauty is in her uniform with a towel around her damp hair. Following behind her is… Yuuma!? I back peddle several steps before I realize that this girl isn't Yuuma. This is Akeno Himejima a third-year student, and while there were similarities between her and Yuuma. There were differences as well, Yuuma has ebony black hair, light-colored skin, and dark amethyst eyes. Oh also, she is a psycho bitch.
Akeno has raven black hair, which is tied in a long ponytail. and held up with an orange ribbon. With two long strands stick of hair go over back. She has creamy white skin and light amethyst eyes. The older girl has on the female Kuoh school uniform, though it looked very tight against her voluptuous figure. Aside from looks, Akeno is a sweet and caring girl. Who would never try and murder me, or hurt me for that matter.
"I.. Uh… I'm sorry Akeno." I bow my head as I apologize. "I was just… Shocked at seeing you."
If she was hurt by my reaction she didn't show it, as she smiles good-naturedly. "Don't worry Magnus."
"Uh… If you're sure." I still feel bad…I should make it up to her, the question is how though?
Rias watches the exchange with a neutral expression before speaking. "Akeno, would you mind making Magnus some tea?"
"Yes, president." Akeno bows and leaves through the double doors, and after a minute or two, she comes back with a tray with several cups. Placing the tray in front of me, the older girl passes me a cup with a smile. "Here you go, Magnus."
I nod in thanks taking the cup, after a sip my eyes widen. "This is great!" I… I think I may become addicted to this stuff!
"Thank you." The older girl smiles as she hands cups out to the other people in the room. "Now, let Rias speak."
Rias sits behind the desk and folds her hands together. "Let's get straight to business, shall we? Magnus, I'm sure you've already figured it out, but we are all devils. And since I've already told you about fallen angels, devils, and angels. I think it's time we cover the subject of Sacred Gears, more specifically yours. Akeno, if you please."
"Yes, president." Akeno bows and walks over to the couch, gesturing for me to stand Akeno gently touches my shoulder. "Sacred Gears, no matter the type reside in the human body. You must focus on drawing the power out."
Kiba who was standing near the windows spoke up. "Sacred Gears sometimes will appear when their user is in danger or horrifying situations. Remember those feelings and draw the power outward."
I slowly nod and stand up, as I close my eyes my mind flashed back to right before Yuuma murdered me. My left arm shook and burned… It happened a lot when I was a kid, then it stopped for a while. Then I moved here, and it started back up again. Focusing on that feeling, my left arm began to shake and burn. Instead of ignoring the sensation, or trying to make it subside. I mentally grab ahold of it and pull!
"Ah!" I open my eyes as my left arm is covered in red light, and in a flash, it is replaced by a red gauntlet. The fingers ended in claws, while on the back of my hand is a green gem with what looks like a flame inside of it. Two golden spikes jut out near the end of the gauntlet. I slowly look over the gauntlet in awe. "This is my Sacred Gear?" I wonder what it-Images flash in my mind, images of men and women with the same Sacred Gear. The people were replaced by a massive shadowy figure wreathed in flames; the figure tries to speak but I couldn't make out the words. "I… What is that?"
"Magnus?"
"Uh… Yeah?" I shake my head as the images slowly dissipate.
"Are you alright?" Kiba asks with a raised eyebrow.
I slowly nod. "I think so… So this is my Sacred Gear? What does it do?"
"That is a good question." Rias leans forward and holds her hands together. "Sadly, we don't know, all Sacred Gears are different. It will take time to figure it out." The older girl then nods at Akeno, who holds her hand over my Sacred Gear. A bright red magical circle appears, and she runs it over the gauntlet. "Akeno is analyzing your Sacred Gear, and she'll send the data to the relevant people back home. If anyone can figure what your Sacred Gear is, they can."
So I'll have to wait for my answers? I guess I can afford to be patient, though that doesn't mean I won't try and figure this out. "So… Uh… How do I make this-Never mind." The gauntlet vanishes. "That's cool. What now?" I ask looking around as the others chuckle.
"Funny you should ask." Rias reaches into her desk and pulls out a piece of paper. "I'm sure you've seen this before." As the red-head holds up the paper, my eyes widen in shock.
"I've seen that before!" That was the flier that I was given by that weird cosplayer…. Wait…. Yuuma saw that flier as well. "I was killed because of that…?" No, it couldn't be… Did she think that I was… "Grh." Gritting my teeth in pain, my fingers dig into my scalp.
"Stop."
My hand was pulled away from my head, and suddenly the pain stopped. I look at the person who grabbed me and I blink in confusion. "Koneko?" What the hell did she do? Why does she look like she is in pain?
"Thank you Koneko." Rias slowly stands and walks over to me. "It seems you were killed because you were in league with us. I am sorry Magnus. If I had known the fallen had returned, I wouldn't have sent my familiar out that day."
I wanted to be angry at Rias, I wanted to blame her for my death, but I couldn't. Just one look at her face told me everything, she blamed herself for my death. Any anger I could felt died instantly. "I… It's not your fault Rias, how could you have known? It was a complete fluke that Yuuma saw me with the flier."
"You are very forgiving Magnus." Kiba nods in approval.
"So… What do these fliers do?" I ask tentatively trying to change the subject.
Akeno coughs, drawing our attention to her. "To gain power and status in the Underworld, devils will forge contracts with humans. A Faustian contract, or bargain. After agreeing to a deal, the devil will grant the human's wish. Taking something equivalent to the wish they granted."
"However, the type of people who can draw these pentagrams are almost non-existent." Rias says taking over in the explanation department. "This is why we give these out to humans with strong desires, strong enough to summon us."
I nod along when realization hits me again. "Wait… Does that mean…?"
"In your last moments, you summoned me. What was your wish? Maybe you wanted to see me one last time?" She asks with a sly smile and a wink which causes me to blush.
"I am taking that secret to my grave." I mutter looking away.
Koneko snorts and shakes her head. "You already have."
"… That's a good point." I mutter as I eyed the girl. She has a dark sense of humor, mad respect. "Still not telling." Suddenly black bat-like wings appear from everyone's backs. "What the… Holy crap!" My eyes widen as a similar pair of wings jutted out from my back as well. "Uh… Two questions… Can I fly with these things? Also, how do you put them away? Because… I think doors will be a problem for me if I can't get rid of them."
Rias crosses her arms with a small smirk, as the others just laugh. "Yes you can Magnus, and we'll show you later. Now, Magnus, I wish to ask you a question. Will you serve as a member of my household?"
"Pretty easy choice if you ask me, but yes Rias I will. You brought me back, you saved me." I smile at the crimson-haired girl.
"Good." Everyone's wings vanish except my own. "Now, we have a lot of work to do."
"Work?" I ask in confusion? Does she want me to forge contracts already?
Before I could ask, Akeno answers for me. "You are still new to this world, so you won't be thrown into the deep end just yet."
"Oh… So… What do newly resurrected devils do then?" I ask looking around the room with a sense of dread.
A downright evil grin appears on everyone's face as they look at me. "Filer duty."
