(Willow's POV )
I woke up to my alarm clock beeping loudly and hit the button. My mom would be coming in any minute to wake me up for school. It was the first day of my 8th grade year. Which meant learning about the hunger games and Rebellion. My best friends Kaia Helah and Sacnite were going to come over before school and eat breakfast. My dad being a baker loved to make breakfast and it became a habit for Kaia Helah and Sacnite to come over.
I pulled on a tee-shirt and a pair of jean shorts. I looked at myself in the mirror noticing how messy my hair had gotten from sleeping on it. I pulled my hair out of the messy bun that it had been in before brushing the knots out. I put my hair into a braid which was a go to hairstyle in my family. I see my mom with braids all the time and it became habit to put my hair into a braid as well. My mom taught me how and since then I have been braiding my hair. I bushed my teeth last and checked myself one last time before grabbing my backpack and heading down the stairs.
My mom was sitting at the bar talking to my little brother Rye. He was eating scrambled eggs and toast along with bacon. I was surprised that my father hadn't baked anything. I heard the doorbell ring followed by the door opening. My friends all walked in and sat at the bar next to my mom. My mom laughed.
"Hello girls, good morning. Peeta made eggs, toast and bacon for breakfast." Katniss went and grabbed the girls plates as Peeta moved the pan to put the food onto their plates. They all said thank you with their mouths full. They always said for some reason my dad's food tasted better then anything their parents make. The rest of the morning was pretty quiet with the exception of my dad talking about what he needed to do today.
After I finished eating I put on my slides and grabbed my backpack before waving at my parents and heading to school. My little brother was following closely behind. He always walked with us to school because my parents didn't trust him walking alone.
When I got to school I put all of my folders and notebooks into my locker and grabbed the ones I needed. I would have to stop at my locker again dropping off all the books my teachers are going to give me. I went to homeroom. After what seemed like forever I went to my last period class. History was the one class I was excited about.
I also was excited that all my friends had history with me. Before going to history I stopped at my locker, twisting the lock quick and putting in my combination. I had the same locker as last year so it was easy to open it quickly in between classes. I walked into history and went to the back of the classroom. I sat down next to Kaia while Helah and Sacnite sat in front of us. The teacher did attendance.
"Hello students. This year we will learn about the Hunger games along with the second rebellion. I know last year you focused on life before the first rebellion along with the first rebellion. This year we will be watching Hunger games of all the victors that are still alive. Two of the victors that are alive sparked the rebellion and started the second rebellion and ended the hunger games. There are 7 victors still alive though two victors are from the same Hunger games."
The rest of class they talked about the first hunger games. Before the class was over the teacher went over to her desk and pulled out permission slips.
"While it is important for you to learn about the hunger games, I need your parents to sign these permission slips to allow you to watch the games."
I got my piece of paper just as the bell rang and left quickly to go to my locker. I grabbed my books and folders and headed outside to meet Rye.
Rye was already outside. I said goodbye to my friends before we headed home. It wasn't a long walk to our house. My mom was in the kitchen preparing dinner. My dad wouldn't be home for a few hours so my mom always made dinner so we could eat when he got home.
"Hey mom"
"Hey sweetheart how was school?"
"Good, I have a lot of homework already. I think my teachers forgot it was the first day of school. Also I have a permission slip you have to sign."
"Oh what for?"
"My history teacher is going to show us videos from the hunger games. She needs permission to show us I guess"
I reached into my backpack and got the permission slip and handed it to my mom. She looked at it for a second before putting it back down.
"I will talk to your father when he gets home"
I zipped up my backpack and flung it over my shoulder.
"I'm going to head upstairs and do homework."
My mom nods her head and I walk upstairs into my room.
Peeta's POV
It was always a good day when I finished early and got to go home. When I got home I could tell something was off. I walked into the kitchen to see Katniss standing over the oven. I walked over to her wrapping my arms around her waist and kissing the back of her neck.
"Peeta"
I could tell by the tone of her voice something was wrong. She turned and faced me and took a deep breath.
"Willow got a letter from school. They want to show all the victors games" She told me. I felt my body tense.
"We knew this was going to happen. If we don't let her watch our games other kids will tell her."
Katniss nods. She walks over and gets the piece of paper and signs it.
"I'm sure they would want you to sign as well. Giving them permission to let Willow watch our games."
I nod taking the pen from Katniss and sign my name under hers. Katniss put her head in the crook of my neck and I just held her for a while.
"I love you Katniss"
"I love you too" She leaned in and gave me a short but meaningful kiss. If I had a choice I would hold Katniss forever. I felt at home in her arms. I let go of her letting her get back to cooking.
I went upstairs to my art studio and started to work on a new piece. I heard Katniss calling for us to come down for dinner. I slowly made my way downstairs. Katniss had made lasagna and garlic bread. Dinner was rather quiet, with the exception being Rye telling us about his day and what he learned. There was a lot of small talk, only because I didn't know what to say. How do you tell your children you don't want them to learn about the hunger games, because you fear they will hate you.
