Chapter 3 – Lowes

Today after his midterm the lot of them went to Lowes to pick out some decorations for the penthouse. It was tradition hat every year they had a big tree lighting ceremony in front of the tower. Hence they bought a huge tree but from a different tree store with big, fancy expensive trees.

"Are you ready to go?" Pepper called for them grabbing her back and car keys. Peter hurried down the stairs excited to go decoration shopping. Christmas was his favourite time of the year after all. Tony came down not long after with what seemed like a cold. "Maybe you should stay home?"

Tony sighed blowing his nose into a tissue making a honking nosie. Peter fought the urge to cringe away, coronavirus had made him more than a germaphobe than he used to be. "I don't know" Tony said slowly glancing in between the two.

"You can trust us, Tony" Peter insisted slowly backing away from the man who rolled his eyes.

"You're being dramatic" Tony stated, Pepper glanced knowingly at the tissue.

"go to bed" She said simply before grabbing Peter's hand and practically dragging him out the door. Peter was slightly relieved for the personal time to spend with his mother-figure. They barely ever spent anytime together just the two of them, and they knew without a doubt that Tony would be better by the next day.

"What are we looking for?" Peter asked lowering down their music so that he could hear the response. She seemed to think about this for a moment. A million thoughts went through the teens head at a rapid speed as he thought about all the cool things they could do with the house.

"Lights, decorations, light shows, anything we can find basically" She replied a small smile playing on her lips. Peter nodded and turned on his phone browsing some decoration ideas. He found a few music themed ones. When he found one that was Avengers styled, he knew it was what they needed to do.

"I have an idea" Peter said mischievously as Pepper laughed. Her laugh seemed to echo throughout the small car. They both preferred the smaller, less elaborate cars. Like the audi's or CRV's.

When they got there people glanced at them in awe. After all it wasn't everyday you see the CEO of stark industries along with a random kid. Peter and Pepper ignored it heading straight for the Christmas lights. They found some really cute normal, white/yellow ones, red ones, and green ones.

"What else should we get?" Pepper asked once their basket was almost over flowing, Peter glanced around and found a cool projector and showed her the picture of what he had in mind. She let out a loud laugh as they went to ask an employee for the needed materials.

"Hello, how may I help you" A young woman asked. She had pink hair with blonde tips making it look like a sunrise. Her nametag said Melanie, and the mother, son duo both noted to give her a hefty tip at the end.

"We're looking for this?" Peter said once again holding up his phone for her to look at. She nodded and led them over to more lights and a projector.

"This should be good" Melanie said with a bright smile showing them the needed materials before heading back the way she came. Peter winked at Pepper making her smile as they went crazy. They thought about how to get Tony out of the house so they could do this, came to the conclusion of just using a day out with Peter sometime.

"We can think about it in the car" Pepper stated matter-of-factly as they went to pay. It was a quick and easy in and out until they got to car and realized they had been there for 2 hours straight. They giggled like two teenagers. "Oops"

"And I oop-!" Peter shouted much to the confusion of Pepper who quirked her eyebrow. Peter smirked.

"Is that something you kids say now adays" Pepper asked bringing the car into drive.

"Yeah I guess so" Peter said going onto his phone and playing some Christmas songs. Soon, the song, It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas resonated through the car putting the both of them into the holiday spirit.

"I'm sure tony will love it" Pepper said dancing a bit to the music. Peter nodded in time to the music imagining Tony's reaction, wide eyes, mouth agape.

"Me too!" Peter said. He enjoyed this time with his mom even though it was relatively short. "I'm glad you're my mom"

"Well, that was cheesy" Pepper said, but Peter could see the her eyes glistening with tears of joy and happiness.

"I know" He said simply turning back to the music and singing horridly off key along with Pepper. Together they made beautiful music.
