Chapter 1 Thump... Thump... Thump

Akaashi Keiji lived a very simple and peaceful life... until today. Let's start at the beginning. His day started out as usual. Wake up, clean up, prep the cafe for the morning crowd and open up the shop. Normally such a quiet life for such a young person would be considered boring; but to him it was just fine. Akaashi Keiji was almost content with his quiet life.

At the age of 26, he was an owner of a small but fairly successful cafe in Fukurodani. The steady but small flow of customers who liked their coffees and tea on the go were perfect for our introvert. Today was no different from any other day. The last of the morning coffee crowd was already gone and there were only a few regulars at the tables. The small guy with blonde hair and dark roots has been a regular at his cafe since last year or so. He just shows up in the late morning with a PSP device and stays for a few hours drinking at least two cups of coffee. The other one was a girl with dark hair who started coming around a few months ago with her laptop and notebooks typing away for hours. He assumed she was either a grad student or a writer.

He was absorbed in observing two of his regulars when a loud thumping noise interrupted his peaceful morning. The thumping of the Bass was almost out of place and for a moment Akaashi thought he imagined it. But there it went again... Thump... Thump... Thump. The noise continued well into the afternoon. He was worried the beautiful landscape his good friend gave him is going to fall off the wall. He took a deep breath. Maybe they will stop now. It's been a few hours they must be getting tired. He had a lot to do around the shop; there was no time to waste. He had a large order of sandwiches and coffee for the neighbourhood association meeting in a few hours. Maybe he should call to see if his part timer could come in on call.

* Fast forward a few hours *

Akaashi always believed patience was one of his strongest virtue, but his new neighbour was testing his patience. That fucking thumping has followed him home! Maybe it's not even a person...Maybe it's a demon that attached itself to me. What was that show? Ghost Hunters? Didn't they say these things can attach themselves to you and follow you home and slowly drive you insane. To Akaashi's tired mind, that was the most logical explanation. That was until the demon next door started playing "I am a Barbie Girl" for the fifth time. That was the final straw. He could feel his eyes begin to twitch! Demon or not he had enough. He is going to give them a piece of his mind.

He stomped over to the apartment next door flat #808. How appropriate! He knocked three times before he heard "I am coming. Hang on!" Three knocks... maybe his neighbour was a demon. The door swung open and Akaashi Keiji came face to face with the most beautiful golden eyes he has ever seen.

"Hey hey hey! What can I do for you?"

"Could you please turn down the brightness? It's causing me pain." Akaashi managed to mumble.

"Huh? I only have lights on in the kitchen." The man tilted his head sideways in confusion.

"uh...huh no! I meant the volume... could you please turn down the volume?"

"Oh no! I didn't mean to disturb you. Hang on a sec." He tapped a few times on his phone and the music stopped.

"I am Bokuto Koutaro. Your new neighbour. I moved in a few days ago."

"Akaashi Keiji. I live in 807."

"Please to meet you Aagaashi!!" Bokuto almost yelled.

"It's Akaashi. Please to meet you too." He half lied. He was not pleased. He was freaking out. His heart was threatening to burst out of his chest. He slowly started to back away from the door.

"Okay... Akaashi. Knock at my door anytime if you need anything!" Bokuto smiled extra wide.

"Will do. Thanks" Akashi almost ran back to his apartment. What the fuck was that??
