Codex: Planets and Locations

A special note about these codexs for the Mass Dragon Effect story is that they were written for two reasons. Firstly, they only exist in this story, so they cannot be found in the two wikis listed below, with a few exceptions found in the timeline. The second reason is that the original had little detail or will be completely different from the wikis below, such as kinetic barriers and thermal clips. I also include all the various races main Codex, and the enemies the heroes will face more for my benefit to keep track of them. This is not required for Mass Dragon Effect, but for your enjoyment and to see how I built the world's lore. Therefore, I hope you enjoy it.

Arcturus Stream Cluster

The cluster directly corresponds to the Arcturus stream, a grouping of stars close to Arcturus that share its physical motion. It was also the first cluster humans explored outside the Local cluster and served as the Human System Alliance's capital before becoming the Union of Federations' capital.

Mass Relay Location: Arcturus System

- Arcturus Station II: Located in the Arcturus Stream Cluster, Arcturus System, Arcturus Station II is considered to be a large space station. That is part fortress and part commerce center as it serves as the Union of Federations' capital. Built using the old Arcturus Station as a base template, it is considered a marvel of engineering and considered to be one of the largest built space stations since the end of the Protheans, with it being half the Citadel's size. It also has a unique design, as the station resembles a mushroom with four long arms. With several oval bodies attached to house visiting dignitaries and ships. As well as an impressive number of defense systems, missile launchers, kinetic weapons, and plasma cannons that can make any invasion turn tail and run. Hence its many nicknames such as the 'mushroom dome,' 'reaching mushroom,' or the 'one punch mushroom.'

However, what makes the station valuable is that the dome at its top of the station is hollow. Allowing ships entry for repairs, even in the middle of battle. Combined with the fact that the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Fleet patrols nearby clusters or is stationed around Arcturus makes it suicidal for anyone who dares to attack the Federation's capital. At least anything shot of an armada of some of the most advanced ships in the galaxy. The station's current population is around 450,000 military personnel and around 1.8 million civilians, along with various visiting civilians and military personnel.

- Benning: Located in the Arcturus Steam Cluster, Euler System, Benning is a garden world colonized by the Human System Alliance as a purely human colony. Before, it was converted into a multi-species colony world to support Arcturus Station and later Arcturus Station II, the Federation's capital, in every way possible. It holds one of the largest automated agriculture centers in the Galaxy to supply the station and fleets station there their food. Houses a large variety of tourist attractions for both the civilian and military population, including visiting families. And has one of the largest industrial sites in Federation space and is used to build much of the equipment and parts used by Federation's forces at Arcturus Station II. Including parts used for the construction and maintenance of ships at Arcturus Station II. The current population is around 900 million people.

Argos Rho Cluster

Before the foundation of the Union of Federations, the Argos Rho Cluster was considered unimportant after the Krogans' defeat during the Krogan Rebellions. Mainly due to a low number of viable planets to colonize and being far from most galactic territories after the krogans retreated to what is known as the Krogan Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). However, with the formation of the Krogan Clan Alliance as a member of the Union of Federations, the cluster importance drastically changed. As the Krogans reclaim many of their planets lost in the war. Making it a hive of activity and interest by various powers.

Mass Relay Location: Hydra System

- Canrum: Located in the Argos Rho Cluster, Hydra System, Canrum is a small rocky world compose of magnesium, silicates, and carbon with a thin atmosphere of methane and krypton. The planet is unremarkable, except it was the site where a Turian Peacekeeper Force tracked down and killed Warlord Shiagur. A fertile female krogan that escaped the Genophage and used that fact, along with her cunning and viciousness, to gain a relatively small but dedicated horde of followers. Many of whom were males that fought to sleep with her for viable children. The battle leading to her death is what most historians use to mark the end of the Krogan Rebellions. As her followers were the last significant organize military force before they disbanded after killing every turian responsible for their Warlord's death.

After the Krogan Caln Alliance was formed, many clans petition to have the planet marked as a holy world as a large number of Krogans head to the planet to pay respect to the great Warlord. Especially those that claim they have the "Blood of Shiagur" flowing through them, which are many. It is also the center of a growing mining and industrial center as several pilgrimages chose to stay to make it a vital part of the Krogan Clan Alliance and the Federation. The current population is around 80,000 Krogans at any given moment, including pilgrimages.

- Intai'sei: Located in the Argos Rho Cluster, Phoenix System, Intai'sei is an arid world that proved too adverse to terraforming, as all efforts to turn the planet into a garden world meet with failure. Meaning the Citadel Council considered it a worthless world that could be used to bargain with "lesser" species. Therefore, they gave it to the krogans during the Rachni Wars to be one of the first Krogan colonies as they were the only species that could thrive on such a world. And thrive they did until a major ground battle on the planet forced the Krogans to abandon the planet during the Krogan Rebellions. It remained abandoned until the Krogan Clan Alliance reclaimed the world after their government's foundation. It now serves a vital industrial and mining planet that more than earned its return of investment. Especially after finding fossils of the extinct Kakilosaur (a beast mount krogans road during the Rachni Wars), which had enough intact DNA to bring the animal back to life on Tuchanka. The current population is around 300,000 krogans.

- Pinnacle Station: An asteroid base station located in the Argos Rho Cluster, Phoenix System, Pinnacle Station was commissioned initially to serve as a secret command center and spy base for the Citadel Council leading up to the Krogan Rebellion. During the invasion of the Phoenix System, it was repurposed into a supply depot for the occupation of the Argos Rho Cluster and several nearby clusters as the Krogan Rebellions progress. After the war, it was again reorganized into a training center and port of call for patrol fleets until the formation of the Krogan Clan Alliance and their reclaiming of the Argos Rho Cluster. Now in Federation territory, the station was remolded into a joint training station for the Union of Federations and the Citadel Council. Officially, to promote good relationships between the Federation and Council. In reality, it was a compromise as the Council did not want to give up a valuable station needed if the Krogans starts another Krogan Rebellion. And the Federation would not tolerate a Citadel station operating in their territory without oversite. The current population is 3,800 military personnel permanently stationed on the station.

Exodus Cluster

The Exodus Cluster was one of the first extrasolar clusters reached by humans, and it was one of the first to be colonized by the Systems Alliance. The cluster is considered vital as it is the center of shipbuilding, industry, and food production of the Human System Alliance and the Union of Federations as a whole.

Mass Relay Location: Utopia System

- Eden Prime: Located in the Exodus Cluster, Utopia System, Eden Prime was a garden world settled by the Human System Alliance as one of its first colonies. After the formation of the Union of Federations, it was converted into a joint colony between humans and krogans. Becoming one of several garden worlds within the Federation that is used to supply food throughout the Federation. However, unlike most garden worlds that grow and cultivate food for one species, the world produces food for humans and krogans across Federation's space. To the point that in the early years, it was one of the few worlds that kept the growing krogan population from starving before the restoration of several Krogan colonies and their homeworld, Tuchanka.

Making Eden Prime remarkable enough that it has also become a symbol. To humans, it was one of their oldest colonies and proof that they could colonize the stars. To the krogans, it is a symbol of change, as those unable to fight can work on the planet instead of being killed off as they would have been on Tuchanka. But more importantly, it is a symbol of unity and friendship for both races, and both are very willing to do anything to protect this world. The current population is around 300 million humans and 450 million krogans.

- Terra Nova: Located in the Exodus Cluster, Asgard System, Terra Nova is a planet discovered by the first wave of Alliance surveyors in 2120. Noted for its harsh desert around the equatorial and temperate zones closer to the poles, it became one of the most important worlds in human history. As it was humanity's second extrasolar colony, the humans founded and their first established beyond the Charon mass relay. It later became a major manufacturing world after it experienced a massive population boom in the 2140s. Bought about by the discovery of rare metal called platinum needed to manufacture clean-burning hydrogen cells that power private vehicles. As well as a safe haven after so many humans left Terra/Earth to settle outside the Sol system during the Darkspawn War. The population boom allowed the development of a large shipyard found in orbit of the planet and a major industry center on the planet below. The current population is around 750 million humans, spread around the temperate and outer edges of the desert climates on Terra Nova.

Fade

Also known as the world of dreams, the Fade is a parallel dimension connected to our dimension from the brain waves of sentiments in the prime/mortal world. In the Fade, ideas, both bad and good, are born and passed into the unconscious of others. It was a world of knowledge and dreams that was unknown to most species until the discovery and use of dilithium crystals. Those affected by dilithium crystals are aware of this fantastic place, and its denizens are aware of them.

Populating the Fade are two splits into two different kinds of dimensional beings that are either created by emotions, or their existence gave birth to said emotions. Spirits, as they call themselves, are beings that reside in the clean, organized 'heaven' portion of the Fade and represent positive emotions like justice, joy, love, or courage. Spirits often ignore sentient species from the 'prime/mortal' dimension, and they only interact when contacted by the sentient species. The second dimensional being mostly resides in the warped, disorganized 'hell' portion of the Fade calls themselves demons. And demons represent negative emotions like pride, anger, hate, and desire. And unlike the spirits, they often make many trips into the 'prime/mortal' dimension to possess a sentient species to gain power or experience life as a mortal. At first, this leads to hostile first contact. However, magicians and containment force fields have allowed scientists and governments to capture demons to strike less dangerous deals that will benefit both the Prime realm and the Fade realm.

Far Reach Cluster

Far Reach Cluster is an isolated cluster that serves as a major trade center through Federation Space and its neighbors, the Terminus Systems.

Mass Relay Location: Haven System

- New Rannoch: Located in the Far Reach Cluster, Haven System, New Rannoch was initially a barren world found between the Terminus Systems, Human System Alliance, and Geth Collective's Space before it was explicitly terraformed for the quarians. Originally, it was meant for the quarian population to grow, help restore their immune system, and serve as a perfect staging world to expand if not retake Rannoch for the Quarian Conclave. In exchange for providing their technical expertise to the Human System Alliance during the Darksapwn War. However, when the Geth came with an offer of peace, a significant portion of quarians moved back to their old homeworld, Rannoch, and its colonies. Only a fraction of their population remained on New Rannoch.

Most of these quarians stayed, for they feared the geth was luring them into a trap, or they did not wish to move again after settling down on the planet for a year. A few, however, saw potential in New Rannoch as a place to reestablish the quarian economy by making it a major trade route between the Human System Alliance, the Quarian Conclave, the Geth Collective, and the Terminus Systems. Ten years later, it became a major trade route within Federation Space and the Terminus Systems. Becoming one of the wealthiest planets, competing with worlds like Ilium and Noveria.

Due to its importance as a trading center, the planet is protected by a large marine force and a planetary defense force strong enough to make pirates from the Terminus think several times over before even attacking the planet. Federation Travel Advisory recommends that anyone traveling to New Rannoch come armed or stay in designated areas for their own safety. As the planet has one of the highest crime rates in Federation's Space due to several mercenary groups and companies with ties in the Terminus System make the colony their home. The current population is 5.6 million quarians and 800,000 of various other species.

Local Cluster

The Local Cluster is the center of the Human System Alliance power and authority, even as the members of the Union of Federations. It is the location of the human homeworld, the first Human extrasolar colony, and the location of massive research facilities, industrial facilities, and shipyards. Making it one of the most essential clusters in Federation's Space.

Mass Relay Location: Sol System

- Earth: Located in the Sol System, Earth, also known as Terra, is the homeworld and jewel of humanity. At least it was the jewel of the Human System Alliance until the Darkspawn War devastated Earth as the humans left the planet in droves. Those that remained on Earth were either the impoverished, honor-bound, saw little conflict on their continent, or too stubborn to leave. After the war ended, few returned, as there was a stigma about the planet's security and how well protected it was actually. An apprehension was so bad that even the capital of the Human System Alliance was moved from Atriums Station to Earth's moon Luna while the station was commissioned to be the Union of Federations' Headquarters.

However, that belief is slowly eroded because of the restoration project that restored the Earth's ecosystem. Restoring the planet's beauty attracts tourists and others to return home or make it their new home. Especially those that live near the border territories of the Terminus Systems where slaver and pirates' attacks are common. It also helped there were plenty of jobs available due to rebuilding Earth's industrial complex, as well as fully supported shipyards in orbit. The current population is around 5 billion.

- Luna: Located in the Sol System and serves as Earth's moon, Luna is Humanity's oldest colony and the Human System Alliance's capital. It is the center of much activity as it serves as the headquarters of several major mining corporations as well as research and development companies. Combined with the presence of large biodome cities used to support the large population has allowed the world to be designated as a primary world instead of a secondary world. Even though a fourth of the moon is restricted to civilians due to either military forces housing or the bunker that holds the Human System Alliance Parliament and the Prime Minister of the Human System Alliance. The current population is 41 million humans and 2 million of various other species.

- Mars: Located in the Sol System, Mars is the second oldest colony for humanity and consider one of the most important planets in the Human System Alliance. Originally founded by the European Space Agency to evacuate Europe when the rifts began to appear on Earth. However, the planet's importance as a colony world begun to shift drastically when Mateus Silva discovered the Prothean Ruins located in the Deseado Crater. After accessing Prothean Archives to discover Mass Effect technology, the United Nations and later the Human System Alliance made immigration and development in the South Poles restricted as the search for Prothean artifacts continues. Even during a mass evacuation of Earth, the restriction was not lifted despite billions looking for a new home. The current population is around 100 million humans and a classified number of soldiers and researchers from various species.

- Gagarin Station: Located in the Sol System, Gagarin Station was a massive space station beyond Pluto's orbit designed to develop and test new technology in space. Ranging from a failed FTL technology experiment before Mass Effect technology to successful forms of technology such as Particle Plasma weapons and Anti-matter reactors. A process that continued despite the Human System Alliance initially buying the station at a fraction of its cost from the United Nations of Earth to move it to the Charon Relay to act as a gateway and space fortress to protect Earth from invaders. However, costs proved to be too much to move the station, so it repurposed it as a military research lab. Serving as a cooperate, Alliance, and later, Federation Research and Development (R&D) hotbed for research and development of most of the Federation's Navy current technology. As well as the first site for early training programs for mages and biotics. The current population is around 15,000 people.

- Demeter: Located in the Sirius System, Demeter is a garden world that became one of the first extrasolar colony of humanity and one of the largest colonies in the Human System Alliance. It is also considered one of the safest colonies as it is located in the same cluster of the human homeworld, Earth, and the Human System Alliance capital, Luna. In other words, one of the most defended clusters in the Federation space. Due to this, it became a prime real estate world even before the Darkspawn War, and it shows no sign of stopping. Especially with a large industrial complex supporting the planet's shipyards that manufacture ships for military and civilian industries. The current population is around 1.2 billion humans.

Perseus Veil

Located in the galactic rim, the Perseus Veil is a vast "dark" nebula of opaque gas and dust that separates Federation's Space from the Terminus Systems. It is a cluster right at the very edges of Terminus space and is considered one of the most essential clusters in Federation's Space due to its nature. As it contains the homeworld of the quarians and geth and the headquarters or backup headquarters of various organizations in the Federation. As the Veil is almost impossible to scan through or view, meaning no one outside the cluster knows precisely what is going on at a given moment. Due to this, it made it the perfect place to serve as an emergency rallying point for the Federation and the Headquarters of the Federation Intelligence Division (FID).

Mass Relay Location: Tikkun System

- Rannoch: Located in the Perseus Veil Cluster, Tikkun System, Rannoch is an arid world that is unique outside of being the homeworld of the quarians. It is also one of the few habitable worlds where insectoid or insectoid-like species never evolved on. Resulting in various species, including the quarians, biologically developed into pollinators for various photosynthetic plants found along the planet's various rivers and small oceans. Resulting in a weak immune system and a delicate ecosystem that forced the quarians to develop a mostly peaceful civilization. As they could not afford to ruin the balanced ecosystem in a world that is roughly translated as a "walled garden."

However, that all changed when a fearful Quarians' Government declared war on their accidental AI creations, the geth. They hoped to exterminate the geth before they could overthrow the Quarians. The quarians lost, and the Geth Collection allowed the 17 million quarians to escape on a fleet of ships that will be known as the Migrant Fleet. Leaving behind a world they irritated during the war. However, rather than convert the planet into a cybernetic urban planet, the Geth cleaned it up on the behest of quarians known as the Lost Ones. It took 300 years before the Geth finished cleaning the planet of radiation and was nearing its restoration when given back to the quarians during the Darkspawn War. All in hopes of preventing a potential war between the Geth Collective and the Quarians Migrant Fleet. As well as enter into a military alliance with the Human System Alliance and several krogan clans in retaking Earth.

Presently, Rannoch is under the control of the Quarian Conclave with aid from the Geth Collective to held developed the planet into a vital world for the Federation. Serving as a symbol of peace and cooperation between the geth and quarians. As both species walk along with the restored grassy fields and a rebuilt shipyards and industrial complex for the quarians. It is also used as the Headquarters of the Federation Intelligence Division (FID) and is set up as an emergency rallying point for Federation military forces and the federal government if the capital is lost in the war. The current population is around 86 million quarians, 21 million geth platforms, and 1 million of various other species.

- Point 001: Located in the Perseus Veil Cluster, Par'Shell System, Point 001 is an incomplete massive construct surrounding Par'Shell's sun that resembles a Dyson Sphere. It is a massive space station that uses the sun to power its massive server and communication hub connected through various comm satellites and mass relays. All for the goal of not only being able to house the Geth Collective as a whole but also keep every individual geth program connected within the Galaxy. Also, while incomplete, it serves as the main hub for the Federation Navy's encrypted communication and hacking server for the Federation Intelligence Division (FID). Currently, the project is marked 35% complete by 2183, 263 years since construction was stated. It is estimated that the project will be completed in 2548 CE, assuming there are no delays. The current population is estimated to be tens of trillions of Geth programs with around 80 billion geth platforms working on the station.

Ru'kor (Children of Victory) Formerly the Krogan DMZ

Before the Krogan Clan Alliance, this cluster was called the Krogan DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). A name given to them by the Citadel Council after defeating the Krogans during the Krogan Rebellions and forcing them to be demilitarized. However, after the formation of the Krogans Clan Alliance and restarting its industry, it returned to its original name. The Ru'kor Cluster, aka, the Children of Victory Cluster. A distinguished name of a cluster is the birthplace of the krogans and one of the busiest clusters in Federation Space. It also suffers from a lot of scrutinies by the Citadel Council due to its history with the krogans. Along with their former occupation of their territory before they were forced to leave.

Mass Relay Location: Aralakh System

- Tuchanka: Located in the Ru'kor Cluster, Aralakh System, Tuchanka is the homeworld of the krogans and was once a ruined planet. Mainly due to the krogans themselves as various clans turned the planet into a nuclear wasteland due to the constant wars. However, it was only made worst after the Citadel Council exploited the krogans to fight a war for them. And then fought fierce battles on Tuchanka before using the Genophage to effectively sterilize the krogans during the Krogan Rebellions. To then leave the krogans leaderless, lawless, and without hope, as various clans spent more time fighting over fertile females instead of rebuilding their planet. Assuming they did not just die due to starvation or become a meal for hungry varren, harvesters, or thrasher maws as they wander across the former wastelands. That all change when the Krogans became a founding member of the Union of Federations.

Now, the planet was restored thanks to the Restoration Project, and hope was returned thanks to the Genofertilization. Making Tuchanka a healthy world that is one part metropolis and one part lush jungle. Only a few spots still remain a wasteland, serving as a constant reminder of what the planet was like in the past. However, the restoration of life did not make the world safer. If anything, it had made it deadlier as predators that generally would have had to search extensively for food now could find food regularly and in abundance. Especially after the krogans brought back extinct animals like the Kakliosaur that the krogan rode to battle. However, despite the dangers, the krogans are prospering on one of the most dangerous planets in the Galaxy. The current population is 5 billion krogans.
