I decided to write and publish this in honor of the show and on the anniversary of when the very first episode of Agents of shield aired.
Also in honor of the show, I will be writing 136 fanfictions of agents of shield in honor of the 136 episodes of agents of shield as my way of paying tribute to the show, like one-shots, short stories, multi-chapter stories, maybe even crossovers. Anyways, please enjoy.
I don't own Agents of shields, I just really love the show.
Coulson was sitting in a diner, finishing his meal. It was early in the morning, so he decided to get something to eat before he headed to HQ. Even though he doesn't really get hungry anymore, because he's an LMD now, he wanted to forget sometimes, and enjoy good food every once and awhile. He looked out the window at the booth he was sitting at, lost in his thoughts.
It has been over a month since he reunited with the team. With Daisy, Mack, Elena, May and Fitzsimmons. It wasn't exactly a physical reunion, but still… It was good to see them again. He began to think about all the times he spent with the team, and everything they've been through together.
He sighted, looking down at his now empty cup. He misses them. He had planned on visiting May at the academy one day, maybe he'll even convince her to give her students a lecture.
He snaps out of his thoughts as the waitress hands him the check. "Thank you." He told the waitress. He rose from the booth and left a tip before walking out of the diner.
As he walked a couple of steps out of the diner, his phone began to ring. He took his phone out and he smiled as he recognized the number calling him.
"Hello Director." He answered.
"Coulson, it's good to hear your voice again." Mack said.
"I can say the same about you." Coulson remarked.
"How's lola?" Mack asked Coulson.
"Oh you know, she's great." Coulson answered, talking out his car keys and smiled at the brand new, but still familiar bright red car in front of him. "Thank you for asking."
"I'm glad you're enjoying yourself," Mack said. "You know Daisy, Sousa and Kora are coming back today, right?"
"Of course, how could I forget?" Coulson said. "You know I plan on being there to welcome them back, I'm only a few miles outside of D.C."
"Yeah well, I just wanted to be sure." Mack said.
"I know, how are things going at the Triskelion?" Coulson asks.
"Everything's going good, we got some brand new recruits that just got transferred here." Mack explains.
"That's good news." Coulson said.
"I got to go right now," Mack said. "I'll see you back at HQ."
"Will do, director." Coulson told Mack before ending their conversation. Coulson smiled for a bit, looking down at his phone. It was good to hear Mack's voice again.
He got back into the car and started up Lola. He put on his sunglasses and began to drive straight to HQ.
Mack rose from his desk and began to look over the city from his office window at the triskelion. He sighted as he began thinking back to the days when Coulson was the director. He never imagined himself being here, the head of an entire legitimized government agency. He smiles as he remembers all the spare time he took fixing up Lola and giving her the upgrades when he wasn't being director. It's like he told Coulson, he'll always be a mechanic at heart.
He turns and walks back to his desk. As he stands over his desk, he hears an alarm go off. He answered as an agent was contacting him.
"Sir, we just got word that agent Johnson and her team have returned back to earth, they should be landing here in just a few minutes."
Mack couldn't help but smile at the good news. "Thank you, is there anything else?" He asks.
"No sir, not at this moment." the agent replied.
"Thank you." Mack said before hanging up on the agent. He sat back behind his desk, smiling. He took the moment of silence to relax a bit. He had a busy day today, but he was glad that he will be able to personally welcome them back after months in space.
Daisy looked over the city as she rode the clear glass elevator up to Mack's office. She couldn't believe that it took over a year to rebuild this massive S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters. It still felt weird being here. The only time she'd ever really been here was in the framework Aida built. Now she's riding the elevator all the way up to Mack's to say, she was still glad to be here, to have a chance to see Mack again in person after last month's reunion.
The elevator stopped as it reached its destination. She steps off and enters Mack's office.
"Hey Daisy." Mack said as he rose from his desk smiling. Daisy couldn't help but smile back.
"Mack, it's good to see you." Daisy said, before the two embraced. Mack glanced at the elevator behind her.
"Where's Sousa and Kora?" He asked.
"They're still down at zephyr three unloading some cargo while it's refueling." Daisy explains.
"I understand, I was kind of hoping to see them both with you." Mack said.
"Don't worry, they'll come up here when they're done." Daisy assured him. They walked over to the couch that Mack set up and sat down.
"How was your mission in space?" Mack asked Daisy.
"It was good, honestly. We saw beautiful planets and made some new friends along the way. We have a lot to report on." Daisy said.
"Well I'm looking forward to hearing all about it." Mack said. Daisy smiled. She was glad to be back here. back on earth, back here at shield. She was happy to actually be here with Mack instead of some framework virtual reality. She really did want to catch up on everything with Mack.
"Hey you're coming?" Daniel asked Kora as he laid a small cargo box down with the others he placed outside of Zephyr three.
"Yeah, I just need one more minute here." Kora told him as he grabbed a duffle bag.
"Okay, see you up." Daniel said before leaving and headed straight for the elevator. Kora checked her tablet, making sure everything was in place and accounted for. She felt like she had a responsibility to the ship she flew, and wanted to make sure that everything was alright herself. It took them a while, but she and Daniel did manage to get used to these new devices Daisy had taught them how to use. Though Daniel still preferred to use some old devices from his time.
After making sure everything was accounted for, she began walking out of zephyr three. She turns, taking one last look at the ship. Though she was glad to be back on earth, she'll always love the experience of traveling in space. She turned back around and made her way to the elevator to meet up with Daniel and Daisy.
Just as she was halfway across the hangar, she began hearing a loud clicking noise. She stopped at her tracks, listening to find where the unfamiliar noise came from. The noise became louder as she found it coming from Zephyr one. It was odd, no one has flown Zephyr one for over a year, not since S.H.I.E.L.D. built two new zephyrs.
She walked over to investigate the strange noise. Memories of past events began flooding back to her as made her way inside Zephyr one. She heard the noise again, and found it seemed to be coming from the upper level of the ship. Despite the pang that swept through her, and unsettling chill that went up her spine, She continued to walk through as she made her way towards the upper level and reached the control room. Just then, the loud clicking noise stopped.
When she entered, she saw an unfamiliar figure standing in front of her. The figure wore an all black uniform, a black leather jacket, and was wearing a strange metallic looking helmet that covered his entire head.
Kora took cover as soon as she saw the man pull out a gun and began shooting at her. The figure rushed out of the ship and Kora immediately chased after him. She found him standing still for a moment, looking around the hangar.
"Hey, who are you?!" Kora shouted, catching the man's attention. He fired his gun again in response, and ran as fast as he could. Kora continued to chase after him as he passed the other agents and pilots in the hangar, taking cover or running as he kept on firing and running from her. He stopped running for a moment and stood still to fire straight shots at her.
Kora used her powers to try to hit him, only to set his leather jacket on fire. He took it off immediately and put out the fire. He took cover behind some crates, leaving his leather jacket behind on the floor. Kora kept her arms out, moving in closely and ready to strike. The intruder threw a grenade up in the air and Kora immediately took cover before it hit the ground and exploded.
Kora went through the smoke and watched as the intruder got into the elevator. All Kora could do is stand there and watch as he goes up and leaves the hangar. She turned over to the nearly burned out jacket. She noticed something sticking out. She reached down into the jacket pocket and took out a small, nearly pocket-size leather journal. She took it with her and rushed over to get the radio to try to warn everybody.
Coulson arrived at the newly rebuilt triskelion, waiting as the desk agent notified the director that he was here. The inside looks exactly the same as it had been back in his early days, before S.H.I.E.L.D first collapsed. Mack had rebuilt the triskelion and shield from the ground up. Coulson was proud of him, and all that he was doing.
"Attention all agents," Coulson looked up to hear an unfamiliar voice on the speaker.
"An intruder has entered the building. He is considered armed and dangerous-" at that same moment Coulson got up as he saw a strange man running in his direction, he thinks that's the intruder. He stops as soon as he faces Coulson. He looks around and stares at the shield logo on the wall for a moment. Coulson didn't say a word, he recognized that the helmet he was wearing was the exact same one Fitz wore over a year ago, when they were dealing with the Chronicoms.
"Drop your gun and Get down on your knees now!" At that same moment, armed agents stepped forward and surrounded the intruder, pointing their guns at him. The intruder raised his hands and slowly let his gun down on the floor.
"Who are you?" Coulson asked the intruder in front of him. He moves his hands forward to show that he's not going to try anything. He slowly removes his helmet.
When he did, Coulson stood shock and speechless for a moment as he immediately recognized who this man was.
"Deke?" Coulson asked.
"Coulson?" the man in question asked in response, trying to catch his breath. He collapsed onto the floor, dropping his helmet.
Coulson moved forward to check to see if he's alive. The other agents lowered their weapons, giving each other confused glares.
"Hey you, get the director down here, he's going to want to see this for himself." Coulson ordered one of the agents that was standing there.
Coulson grabbed Deke, hoisting him up on his shoulder.
"And Help me get him to a doctor."
