Now, onto the story!
Nya laid in her bed, trying to fall asleep. She could hear Maya's soft breaths from across the room, a steady, sleep-like breathing pace. Nya sighed, if Maya could fall asleep, who was not even in her own home, why couldn't she? Maybe she needed to get some air. As Nya got up, she heard her future daughter shift nearby. The water ninja softly made her way out of the room, hoping she had not awoken her roommate.
"Where are you going?" She heard a voice asked. Oh, great, she had woken her. Was the Ninja of Water really that loud?
Maya looked at her future mom's frozen stance in the door. She sighed, and stood up, too.
"I just can't sleep, go back to bed. You need to rest." Nya said, turning to her. Maya shrugged.
"I can't sleep, either. There's too much I'm worried about."
"But, you sound like you were…" Nya responded, confused. Maya smiled, beginning to walk out of their room.
"I've perfected the art of fake sleeping. It really comes in handy when a bunch of loud boys always parade into your room, trying to get you to wake up. They still think I sleep through it all. That's why they call me Sleeping Beauty." Nya chuckled quietly, and the two girls headed outside.
The fresh air hit them, and Nya felt instantly better, and she could tell Maya felt the same way.
"I'm scared." Maya suddenly said, drawing her eyes to the ground beneath them. Nya put her arm around her, to let her know that she was there, and asked for her to continue.
" When my father told me about Nadakhan, he said that the Ninja team had nearly lost, they would have if Jay had not had one wish left. What if...what if we can't beat him this time? What if Nadakhan wins?.Then, not only would the past be affected, but the future, all of the future Ninja team may not be born if Nadakhan kills you guys, and all of Ninjago will be doomed to fall beneath the Oni, or the Never Realm will be doomed to ice forever, oh, wait, that would never happen, never mind. Or everyone could get stuck in the Prime Empire, or the Skull Sorcerer could rule the Mountain, both above and below! Everything would be affected! And don't even get me started with the Elemental Sky Clan一"
"Woah, Maya, slow down and stop giving hints about our future!" Nya interrupted, knowing that if she didn't Nya would know everything about the future, or she would not understand any of it because her future daughter talked way too fast.
Maya blushed and mumbled sorry under her breath.
"Hey, don't worry about it. I know it's stressful, but we got this. My whole team is still here, we also have Sensei Wu, who is amazing, by the way. When we work together, no enemy stands a chance."
Maya smiled, but soon jumped when she heard a door softly close behind her. Nya got ready in a fighting stance, and charged for the figure that exited their house. A loud, high pitched scream was heard.
"Nya, wait, stop! It's just me, Jay! You know, your over talkative fiance?" Jay bursted out, trying to save himself before being killed by Nya. It was now Nya who was blushing, and Maya was laughing her head off.
"That….that was GOLDEN! You should've seen your face, Dad, er, Jay! That was so funny!"
"Have you ever had Nya charge at you with hatred in her eyes? I don't think so. If you did you would understand how scared I was." Jay responded, adjusting the bag on his shoulder.
Nya's eyes widened at the sight of her fiance. Once she got a good look at him. He was dressed in his ninja gi, the one with tons of padding, the suit reserved for dangerous missions. His belt had multiple knives sheathed on it, and the Blue Ninja had two swords strapped on his back. Jay's nunchucks were in his hand. Jay shifted under the weight of Nya's gaze, then laughed awkwardly.
"Well, I have to go, I hope you guys enjoy getting fresh air at two at night, or whatever you are doing. Ok, bye!" Jay said, quickly making his way past them. Maya was too fast for him, though, and caught his wrist, making Jay stop suddenly.
"Oww.."
"Where do you think you are going?" Maya asked, her voice dangerously low. Nya got behind Jay, just to make sure that he could not escape and the Master of Lightning, seeing that he could not escape, sighed.
"I was going to go get Nadakhan alone, but I see that you guys are not allowing that to happen…"
"You bet we aren't! Jay, are you crazy? You can't fight him alone!" Nya yelled, anger filling her. She could not lose Jay, not after everything they had been through. Nya knew that Jay knew that he could die, yet he would still go? What was wrong with him?
" Nya, I can't let him hurt anyone else! I won't let him take everyone I care about, not again! He wants me, so, I say, let him get the Lightning Nina! I'm ready for him this time! Let me at him!" Jay was now yelling, making the argument a whole lot worse.
"No, Jay! He'll kill you! If he kills you, Maya will never be born, our friends, or family, will be devastated, and I would never forgive myself! I can't live without you!"
"And I can't lose you! Please, Nya, I have to do this!"
"Stop fighting, both of you!" Maya yelled, silencing her arguing parents. " Dad, you from the future sent Mo and I here to get help from everyone to stop Nadakhan, not just you. He knows that the whole team needs to fight him, not just you. So, can't you honour your future selve's plan and let us fight together? Please? I already lost you once, lost my Mom, and watched you be tortured by Nadakhan. I don't want to see you get hurt anymore!"
Jay, sighed, and dropped his nunchucks on the ground.
"Fine. Just for you two."
"Finally, Jay Walker has some sense," Cole said, walking out of the house. Kai, Lloyd, Zane, and Mo poked their heads out from the door, also joining the others outside.
Nya laughed at the craziness of it all. Her and Jay just had their first bad argument, their future daughter stopped it, and everyone else watched it happen.
" How long were you guys listening?" She asked, looking from Kai to Cole, the two spies of the group.
Kai shrugged. "Well, Jay woke us up from his scream, and then we all came down to see what's up. So, we pretty much heard all of it. I have to say, I never knew Jay could be so determined to fight someone who nearly killed all of us, or Maya be so bold to stop her parents from arguing. Great work, guys." Maya rolled her eyes at Kai's comment.
"Anyways, are we going to get as much sleep as we can before we have to get up in the morning, or are we just going to stand here?" Lloyd said, and everyone began making their way inside. Jay hung back, staring off into the distance. Nya put a hand on his shoulder.
"We'll get him, together." She said, giving a comforting smile. Jay returned it, and walked inside with Nya, but could not help but give one more glance on the horizon, and he felt that the Djinn was close. And it scared him.
It was morning. Maya stood in Nya's room, pacing. Sparks of electricity flew off of her hands, drops of water formed around her. She knew she was panicking, and tried so hard to stop it. Control, control, control. Snesei Lloyd's voice echoed in her mind. That is the most important thing. With two elements, you use your power when you are scared, nervous, or panicked, even when you don't want to. It's scary, I know. But, I know you can control it. It may be a curse, but it can be tamed. Maya took a deep breath, calming down. The water fell to the ground, and the lightning faded away.
Mo, at this moment, walked in, and, inferring what had just occurred, showed Maya his scar. It had grown. Instead of being from his neck to his ear, it now started at his shoulder.
" You're worried, too?" Maya asked, hoping that that was the reason Mo's curse activated. He nodded.
" It sucks. I wish we didn't have these dumb curses. Just because we have more than one power doesn't mean that we have to have flaws." The future Green Ninja said as he sat down on a bed, face in his hands.
"Sensei Lloyd says that we should consider the curses something to grow from, not a flaw." Maya said, sitting beside him.
" It still sucks. I hate how this scar grows whenever I am really stressed. I imagine that when my future wife has our kid this scar will cover my whole body." Maya laughed. "But, I would hate to be sparking elements when I am anxious, at least I can hide my curse."
Maya nodded, and, as if on cue, a burst of lightning shot from her hand. She sighed.
"Why are our curses activating, though? Why are we so stressed, and scared?"
Mo looked at her with serious eyes. " I think we both know that today, we will find that Djinn, and something really, really bad will happen."
Another, more exciting, chapter will be coming shortly. I didn't want to make this chapter too long.
