Kora stared into the mirror as she tried to fix her hair. She stared at herself for a moment, then spun herself around as she admired the dress she was wearing.
The plan seemed simple. Go to the gala, meet up with Daisy and Daniel, search for the group of international thieves, and stop them before they can escape or harm people.
Once she was sure that she was ready, she walked towards the lab of zephyr three, where she intended to wait for Deke.
Daisy had told her that this gala required that she bring a date with her, and when she thought about who she could bring with her on this mission, the first person that came into her mind was Deke.
To her surprise, she found Deke standing alone in the hangar of Zephyr three. Clearly he didn't take as long as she did to get ready, as he was wearing a simple tuxedo.
"Ok, let's go over the plan again." Kora said to Deke. he turned around and faced her. Kora noticed that his jaw dropped slightly as he stood silent for a few moments.
"Umm, Deke? You ok?" Kora asked.
"Yea… yeah, fine. You just look… stunning. I mean you look great...the dress, it really suits you." Deke said as he smiled at her. Kora gratefully smiled back.
"Thanks, you don't look too bad yourself." Kora pointed out. He held out his arm.
"Shall we?" Kora nodded slightly as she linked arms with him, and they walked out of zephyr three together.
Daisy and Daniel continued to look around the room. They both admired the many pieces of art and jewelry that were on display. They didn't see any of the thieves here. There were only a few dozen people inside.
"This place is small enough for the thieves to run in and run out in just a few minutes." Daniel said.
Yeah, it's the ideal place if you want to quickly steal millions in art and jewelry." Daisy noted.
"And with only three lightly armed security guards, how can they expect to protect this place from a group of thieves? Especially ones with powers?" Daniel asked.
"I guess they're not really expecting anything bad to happen." Daisy answered. A few moments later Daisy saw Kora and Deke walk in together. She and Daniel approached them as they looked around.
"Hey." Daisy said.
"Hey. Are any of the thieves here?" Kora asked.
"No, it doesn't look like any of them are here." Daisy answered, "You guys got here just in time, the auction is about to begin."
It had been only a few minutes after the auction began, they already sold off a few paintings and pieces of jewelry. Daisy continuously looked around the room, but still none of the thieves are here.
Right now there were a few people trying to get their hands on a painting by Vincent van Gogh. She couldn't believe how much people were willing to spend on such paintings.
"Going once? Going twice? Sold to the young gentlemen right there." the auctioneer announced as he pointed out to the man who won the bidding. People lightly clapped and cheered for him.
"Alright, next item up for bid," Daisy turned around and her attention was focused on a young man who entered the room. He was wearing an all black tuxedo and sunglasses. He stood silent for a few moments, taking off his sunglasses and eying the room. Daisy recognized him as one of the thieves yoyo was looking for.
"Daniel." Daisy squeezed Daniel's arm to get his attention. At that same moment the man raised his hands up and two of the security guard's guns flew across the room and went into his hands. He fired multiple shots up into the ceiling, causing everyone to get down in panic.
A moment later three men wearing black ski masks and carrying assault rifles stormed into the room. All of the guests went down and held their hands up. Daisy, Daniel, Deke and Kora also went down with everyone else.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we are here to rob this place." the man in the black tuxedo announced. At that same moment the third security pulled out his gun, and this time a different man in an ordinary tux raised his hand and snatched the gun away from across the room.
He aimed and waved the gun at the third security guard without saying a word, and he went down on the floor. These must be the thieves with powers yoyo warned her about.
"Now, don't give us any problems and I promise that nobody will get hurt." the man in the black tux continued. He walked around the room with a confident smile and posture.
Daisy watched as the other thieves began to take the jewelry and cut paintings from the frames.
"Five minutes." one of the thieves said. They continued to grab whatever paintings and jewelry they could take.
Daisy eyed the door and entrance they came in, it was locked with a chain wrapped around the door handles. She raised her hand and tried to use her powers to break the chain while nobody was looking at that moment.
After a few moments, she managed to break the lock from where she was. The broken chain dropped onto the floor, it was loud enough that one of the thieves that was standing nearby turned around.
"What the-" Daisy quickly got up and quacked him up against the wall as he was caught off guard. Another masked thief rushed over and pointed his gun at her. Kora got up and used her power to throw him up against another wall.
The remaining three thieves arrived and the second man with powers raised his hands and threw them both up against the wall.
"Let's get out of here!" the man in the black tux yelled. Daniel watched as the remaining three thieves rushed out of the building with the bags full of stolen jewels and art, leaving behind the other two thieves Daisy and Kora took out.
Daniel quickly got up and rushed over to Daisy.
"Daisy, hey, you're alright?"
"Yeah, i'm fine." Daisy answered as he helped her get up and maintain her balance. They went towards Kora and Deke. Kora was still on the ground after being thrown up against the wall.
"Hey, you ok?" Daisy asked.
"Yeah, i'm fine." they helped her get up and stand up straight.
"Guys, are you there?" yoyo heard Daniel on comms from in Davis's car.
"Yeah, we're here." yoyo answered. At that same moment she saw a black van pull up at the front entrance of the building, and three men rushing out of the gala, carrying duffle bags.
"There should be three men running from where you're from." Daniel said. The thieves went into a black van and immediately speeded off.
"I see them." Davis said before immediately speeding off to after the van.
They drove for miles and miles all over the city of paris. They continued to chase after the van.
The back doors of the van opened up and two of the thieves began to shoot at Davis's car, forcing him to slow down.
"Oh come on, I love this car." Davis whined.
"Don't worry, i got this." yoyo said. She opened the back car door and rushed out of the car as it was still driving. She used her speed to go after the van. Once she made it, she grabbed each of the thieves, one by one, out of the van and quickly handcuffed the three of them with power dampening cuffs. She then returned to grab the bags of stolen valuables right before their van flipped over and crashed.
She stood right in front of the men she captured. Davis's car pulled up right behind her and he and Piper both got out of the car and walked towards her.
"Nice job." Davis said.
"Thanks." yoyo responded.
"I'll contact HQ." Piper said before she went back to the car.
"You sure you guys are ok?" Daniel asked Daisy and Kora.
"Yeah we're fine." Daisy answered. Kora nodded in response.. The three of them watched as a tac team put the thieves onto the plane. They put the two thieves with powers into the containment module. Yoyo was talking with Piper and Davis.
"I guess we take them now to a shield facility where they can't get out." daisy answered.
"Hey, i have an idea." Kora said, "why don't you and Daniel stay here in Paris?"
"What?" Daisy responded.
"Why don't you and Daniel spend some time here in Paris while i take them to the facility." Daisy stood silent for a few moments.
"Kora, are you sure?"
"Yeah, i'll have yoyo, Piper and Davis with me and i can just fly back here to get you guys." again Daisy stood silent for another moment.
"I mean, if you insist."
"I do." Kora cut her off, "It's the least i can do for you both after tonight."
"Ok, I'll go talk to Daniel." Daisy said before she walked off with a smile on her face.
Daisy and Daniel arrived at a hotel in Paris. They made their way up to the room Daniel had got for them. He had insisted on choosing the hotel they'd be staying at. He opened the door with the keycard he got and stepped aside, allowing Daisy to walk into the room first.
Daisy was surprised when the first thing she saw entering the room was a few candles lit all over the room. There were red rose pebbles on the floor that lead to the bed. There she saw more red pebbles on the bed that were in the shape of a small heart.
Daisy smiled and spun around to look at Daniel.
"What is all of this?" Daisy asked. Daniel responded by bringing out a red rose he held behind his back .
"I called the hotel before we left and had them arrange all of this," Daniel explained while he was approaching her, "i wanted to surprise you. So, what do you think?"
Daisy answered by leaning in and connecting her lips with his. She pulled away from his lips, their eyes locking, she took the rose he had in his hand and smiled with joy.
"I love it."
"Good, i'm glad you do." Daniel said. She turned around and looked at the bed again. Her gaze then turned to the window in the room that had a perfect view of the eiffel tower. Daniel wrapped his arms around her waist as she stared at the lights of the eiffel tower.
"I love you." Daniel whispered into her ear.
"I love you too."
