Here is the fifth Supplement for the Heart, released at the right time in the Heart Series timeline. The events of this Supplement take place immediately after the events of Part XXV similar to how the last Supplement was right after the events of Part XXIV. Unlike the last Supplement, this one deals with purely established Pokemon characters and focuses on Misty finally getting to meet Ash's Palpitoad. This is in the Supplement because the nature of it is relevant enough to Dreams to include but not important enough for inclusion the main series. That is all I have for now, there will be more in the post part note. There were a few questions in regards to the last Supplement but they were of more relevance to the main story and not the Supplement and will be answered before Part XXVI. As such please relax and enjoy the latest Supplement for the Heart: Misty Meets Palpitoad.

Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon.

Misty Meets Palpitoad

"Nurse Joy, will you please take heal all of our Pokémon?" Ash said as he, Misty and Dawn reached the front desk of the Cerulean City Pokémon Center. "Misty and I just had a battle and, well, they all need some attention."

"Except Pikachu." Dawn said helpfully from behind Ash. "He won his battle without much damage."

"Yeah but Pikachu could use a little break as well." Ash pointed out and Dawn just nodded trusting Ash's judgement when it came down to his partner as Pikachu happily jumped off and onto the desk in agreement, he really could use a break. "Remember he did expend a lot of energy to win, it takes a lot to take down a Gyarados regardless of type advantage."

"Ash is right, Pikachu could use some rest." Misty agreed. "All our Pokémon could use it, thank you Nurse Joy."

"It is what I am here for." Nurse Joy said with a smile as Ash and Misty handed over 11 Poke Balls along with Pikachu causing a raised eyebrow from Nurse Joy. "I see, you weren't kidding when you said all your Pokémon. Misty, is this a full day's worth of battles or something?"

"No just one full 6 on 6 battle." Misty said simply. "Ash is an old friend and he's challenging the gym leaders of Kanto to full battles to practice before he makes a second attempt at the Indigo League. Naturally I couldn't resist the challenge from him."

"I see, yes the system does say that Mr. Ketchum is registered for the Indigo League this year." Joy said with a nod as she scanned Ash's pokedex so that she could store his Pokémon. "Very well your Pokémon will be good as new come morning, best to leave them overnight just in case. Any particular issues regarding them that I need to be aware of?"

"Yes my Leavanny was poisoned." Ash said pointing to Leavanny's Poke Ball. "Not knocked out but still badly injured I think. He's a grass and bug type from Unova so not a common Pokémon around here."

"Not at all I know precisely what to do and will make sure they are all back to top form by the time you return tomorrow." Nurse Joy said putting the Poke Balls into two trays to keep them separate, Pikachu hopping into the tray as well, and handing it to her Chansey helper. "Anything else?"

"Yes actually." Ash said fishing out a list from his pocket and handing it over to Nurse Joy. "I would like to transfer the 5 Poke Balls I have left with you back to Professor Oak in Pallet Town once they are healed and get these 5 back from him to complete my current rotation. If possible I'd like to get them as soon as possible but I know I'm only allowed 6 Pokémon on hand at any given moment so I am willing to wait until tomorrow but if possible I'd like them today."

"While that is true but I can still do as you ask." Nurse Joy said to Ash's surprise. "It's no problem at all."

"How so?" Ash asked confused. "I thought that you can only have 6 Pokémon on you at one time, the others were sent to wherever you store them."

"Well you see, the 6 Pokémon rule only applies to the Pokémon currently registered to your person and not you storage location." Nurse Joy said in her usual sweet tone. "What I can do is register your current Pokémon as stored here temporarily for purposes of healing and then transfer them to your normal registration point when I am done.. Then you can get these 5 Pokémon from Professor Oak's lab where you store your Pokémon. Now because there are 5, I can assume that the Pikachu is staying with you."

"That is correct." Ash confirmed. "He's my best friend and partner."

"Very well." Nurse Joy said with a nod. "Please take a seat while I work, this will take a few minutes to sort everything out."

Ash, Dawn, and Misty all thanked Nurse Joy before taking their seats in the Pokémon Center waiting area, each thinking their own things as they waited. It was about an hour after their battle and they had come to the Pokémon Center as soon as they could given everything that had happened in the wake of their battle.

After Misty's wardrobe malfunction, Ash had left at once so as to not see any more than he already had, though what he had seen was now seared into his brain, and give the girls time to correct it in privacy without him. However when Dawn and Misty hadn't come out Ash returned a moment later confused at the delay.

That confusion only deepened when he found Misty relaxing in the pool of all places, playing with a happy Piplup while a wet Dawn was on the side drying herself. That alone was confusing enough but it somehow got even more confusing for Ash as Dawn had apparently decided that the changing room was not where she needed to be and was instead completely topless and only wearing a very nice pair of black lacy panties while drying herself. Ash had absolutely no idea what was going on or how to react to it.

When Dawn turned and saw Ash standing there gaping at the sight she went a little red. Not because he'd seen it all before, Dawn was comfortable being topless around her boyfriend, but because Misty was there. Despite Misty's occasional flirtations towards her, which Dawn assumed was purely to get into her head, she was still another woman so Dawn was comfortable changing in front of her but with Ash also there it was too much for her. To avoid any more awkwardness, Dawn had quickly grabbed the towel and went to the changing room.

Ash, still confused at everything he had just seen but deciding it was best to not ask any questions, just turned to Misty and told her that they should get their Pokémon to the Pokémon Center. They needed to heal them after their battle and Ash had to get his team for his battle against Surge, including the one Pokémon that Misty really wanted to meet.

Misty happily agreed and got out of the pool to go change and get Dawn before they headed to the Pokémon Center, telling Ash to just wait there with Piplup who was still floating in the pool. Ash had done that, all the while trying not to remember what he'd seen or try to fathom what in Arceus's name was going on. He just wanted to forget it and focus on what they were going to do next.

The next thing on their agenda, after asking Nurse Joy to heal their Pokémon, was for Ash to get his new team and begin training. Well that and because Misty wanted to meet Ash's Palpitoad and as he was already slated to go against Surge's Pokémon now was the best time for that.

Apparently Misty had already met Palpitoad at Ash's birthday party and wanted to get to know him better. More, if possible, she wanted to train him for a bit for Ash while he was on his journey. Ash trusted Misty and would of course let her train him but only if Palpitoad wanted to train with Misty after meeting her. Misty had immediately agreed to the condition and was eager to meet the Unova water and ground type in person.

"Ash, here are your new Pokémon straight from Professor Oak's lab." Nurse Joy said coming out with a tray of 5 Poke Balls and Pikachu breaking Ash from his thoughts. "The 5 that you asked for while the 5 you left here will be transferred to Professor Oak as soon as they are healed. Pikachu is already fully healed as he had no damage at all and he decided to rejoin you."

"Pikachu." Pikachu said proudly, his reputation with Ash's other Pokémon would increase even more now that he had defeated another Gyarados without taking any damage in the process. "Pika, Pikachu."

"Great, thanks Nurse Joy." Ash said taking his Pokémon while Misty beamed knowing that one of the balls contained his Palpitoad. "I really appreciate all this."

"It is my pleasure." Nurse Joy said happily.

"What about my Pokémon?" Misty asked.

"Misty, your Pokémon will need to spend the night." Nurse Joy said and Misty nodded her understanding. "They all took a lot of damage so it is for the best and healing a Gyarados takes a little time just because of its size."

"I understand, I will be back tomorrow morning to pick them up." Misty said grateful at the relatively quick turnaround. "I will need my team for any trainers who show up tomorrow, I like to mix it up a bit with them."

"Of course." Nurse Joy said with a small smile. "I am used to healing your Pokémon and they will all be at the top of their game when you return."

"Thank you as always Nurse Joy." Misty said with a slight bow.

"It is my pleasure to help you." Nurse Joy said before turning and leaving to return to her duties.

"Well, shall we get back to the gym." Ash said to the others. "It's time for some more introductions."

"Yes." Misty said eagerly heading straight for the door while Dawn just smiled and took Ash's hand, this wasn't about her but she was going to enjoy the time anyway. "Come on, I'll get a few of the others out for it. I need to change into a new swim suit for this so I can join the Pokémon in the pool."

"So long as it is more appropriate than the last one." Dawn pointed out. "Please."

"No promises." Misty said with a wink at Dawn that caused the latter to just groan at that. "I know how much you liked how the last one looked on me."

Ash chuckled nervously while Dawn groaned again as they left the Pokémon center and headed back to the gym. It was certainly going to be an interesting introduction between Misty and Palpitoad that was for sure, Dawn just hoped that there wouldn't be any more wardrobe malfunctions this time. She could at least hope.

"Come on out guys." Misty said throwing several Poke Balls she'd grabbed from the shelves by the side of the pool into the air. "It's free swim time for everyone."

The ball burst open and out popped several water type Pokémon. There was a Goldeen, Seadra, Luvdisc and Seal. They were all Misty's overflow Pokémon, except the Seal which was the gym's and never used in battle. The others were used as needed though Seadra had apparently been slated to face Ash before Psyduck volunteered himself.

Right now though they were all just swimming in the pool and enjoying the water while Misty's Azurill floated happily in a corner. Piplup instantly joined them while Dawn's other Pokémon chilled on the side, none wanting to swim just yet.

"I see that Horsea has evolved." Ash said with a nod at Seadra. "Congrats on that."

"It did, thanks." Misty said proudly, she was now wearing a simple red bikini that Ash had seen before and was more modest than the last one and less likely to malfunction which Dawn was grateful for. "I was surprised when it happened but very happy. I want to train Seadra up more and then when its ready I plan on taking it to Johto so we can find a Dragon Scale."

"A Dragon Scale?" Dawn asked. "Why do you need one of those?"

"Because it is needed to evolve Seadra into Kingdra." Misty said with a smile. "A water and dragon type Pokémon and one I really want to get now that I have a Seadra. Of course this will all be when Seadra is ready to evolve, I will never force a Pokémon to evolve that doesn't want to."

"That is how it should be." Ash said with a nod of agreement. "Shame I couldn't face Seadra in our battle, I would have liked to see how good yours was."

"Yeah I really wanted to use it." Misty said with a sigh. "I figured that a battle against you would have really helped its growth and confidence but alas Psyduck decided that that would be the moment he wanted to come out and partake in the battle. Even after all these years, I am sure he still doesn't know why he comes out of his Pike Ball whenever he wants. Oh well, it was good in the end and at least he didn't replace Gyarados, that was the Pokémon I really wanted you to face. Now if only Psyduck could swim and control his headaches, he would be great."

"But then he wouldn't be your Psyduck." Ash pointed out and Misty smiled at that.

"True, his uniqueness is why I love him so much even if he annoys me constantly and gives me headaches that rival his own." Misty said. "Oh well, he will always be with me when I travel, I can't leave him alone for his own safety more than anything else. But enough about Psyduck, its time Ash, please can I meet Palpitoad."

"Oh yeah of course." Ash said pulling out a Poke Ball from his waist, expanding it and opening it away from him. "Palpitoad, come on out."

In an instant the Vibration Pokémon appear with a smile on his face. He was always happy to be out and with Ash. He showed this by turning and licking Ash enthusiastically with his long tongue causing Dawn and Misty to laugh at it.

"Hey Palpitoad, I'm happy to see you too." Ash said with a smile as he hugged his friendly Pokémon. "Been too long since you were part of my active roster, you ready to return?"

"Palpitoad!" Palpitoad said happily in his vibration like voice while nodding his body.

It had been too long since Palpitoad had been with his trainer. Sure the ranch was nice and he was making friends with all of Ash's other Pokémon that he was meeting for the first time, especially the other water types like Corphish, Buizel and Todadile, but he wanted to be back with Ash. Palpitoad loved to battle and defend his territory to the best of his ability and right now Ash was his territory as his trainer. They had fought together before, he couldn't wait to do so again.

"Good because I will be needing you by my side." Ash said to him. "We are heading to Vermilion City soon to face the gym leader there for a full battle. I already won the gym badge years ago but this practice for the Indigo Conference at the end of the year. I need you to be on your best game, you are my ace and secret weapon against Lt. Surge."

"Palpitoad?" Palpitoad asked with the cock of his head in confusion.

"It will be like the gym we faced in Nimbasa City." Ash said and Palpitoad wracked his brain to try and remember which battle that was until Ash continued speaking and reminded him what it was. "It's an electric type gym so you are perfect for it. You look like a pure water type but as a ground type as well you are immune to electric type attacks despite your apparent disadvantage. Add in the fact that you are from Unova and not native to Kanto so Surge will not know what hit him."

"Palpitoad!" Palpitoad vibrated happily, he was going to show Ash that he could live up to this responsibility unlike last time when he was defeated by that damned Emolga.

The other Pokémon at the ranch had spoken of the aces Ash had in his roster with reverence at their skills and impressive victories against powerful opponents, not including Pikachu who's status as Ash's partner was unquestioned. Of course the gold standard was Charizard, the oldest and most revered of all the top tier Pokémon Ash had. He was the one all wanted to beat but he wasn't the only one with an impressive record that Palpitoad had heard of.

There was Sceptile who had been the only Pokémon in an entire Conference to defeat a Darkrai, which was not an easy feat apparently. There was Infernape had been the key to Ash's victory in the Sinnoh quarterfinals against Ash's arch rival. The Torterra was no slouch either and that was just the fully evolved starters.

Then there were the flying type Pokémon, Swellow, Noctowl, Staraptor, Unpheasant and Pidgeot, the last Palpitoad had learned about in mentioning but never expected to see until he showed up suddenly last month, who were all powerful in their own rights. Add in other powerful Pokémon like Glalie, Donphan and Snorlax just to name a few whose exploits Palpitoad had heard of.

Of course some of the finer details about the other Pokémon escaped Palpitoad because they were from regions he hadn't been too and he was too new to know all the stories but he was still learning a lot from the other Pokémon on the ranch. Regardless, Palpitoad planned on joining them as one of Ash's best and what better way than to do so by being the key to Ash's next major victory.

"Great, I knew I could count on you." Ash said with a smile. "We will be doing a lot of training over the next week or so to get ready for the upcoming battle as it is closer than usual so I want to get a lot of work done by then."

"Er, Ash." Misty said tapping his shoulder and bouncing on her feet. "Sorry to interrupt but can I please meet Palpitoad now? I don't think I can wait much longer."

"What, oh yeah sorry." Ash said sheepishly before stepping to the side so that Palpitoad could the tall redhead girl in very little clothing standing behind him. "Palpitoad, I want you to meet Misty. She's the leader of the gym we are currently in and one of my oldest and closest friends. She is also a water type master who is really good with water types and loves them more than any other type. She really wants to meet you."

"Hello Palpitoad." Misty said with a smile getting down on her knees to be at his level and look into his eyes, opening her heart to him the way she did with all water types. "I'm Misty. Ash had told me a lot about you, all great things regarding your skills. I hear that you are a powerful Pokémon and I can see that just by looking at you. You clearly love to battle and Ash has raised you well."

"Palpitoad." Palpitoad vibrated in agreement at that, he did love to battle and this woman understood that." "Palpitoad."

"I also have to say that you are a beautiful Pokémon." Misty continued her praise meaning every word. "I love water types and among them you are special because of your additional ground typing as well, that makes you immune to the bane of all water types; electric types and their moves. Don't worry, we won't talk about grass types as they are really bad for you. As Ash said he and I are really close friends and I am hoping you and I can be friends as well."

Palpitoad looked at the woman with an intense gaze. She had opened her heart to him and he could tell that she meant every word she had said to him. Ash had also spoken highly of her so he was willing to give the woman the benefit of the doubt because of that, though her praise of him was also important. He could tell that she cared for Ash very much which made him instinctually trust her.

As with any Pokémon, Palpitoad could tell when a female was in heat for a specific male that was nearby. The pheromones coming off this Misty person were pungent which meant that she was in heat for his trainer. There was no denying that, Misty wanted to be Ash's mate.

However they were mixed with the scent of the other girl in the room, the blue haired girl called Dawn that Ash had introduced as his mate when they had met on the ranch. Palpitoad knew that while the woman in front of him wanted Ash she couldn't have him. Given the slightly different scent from the other female had won her claim to his trainer and already mated with him which made Palpitoad like Dawn because she liked Ash.

Still, the trainer in front of him was sincere, honest, and despite losing her claim harbored no ill will to Ash or his mate. Palpitoad could respect that, she was loyal to Ash just as he was. She was also clearly skilled with his type given the pool and the well raised water types frolicking in it at the moment. Between everything Palpitoad had deduced he decided that he could be friends with this Misty as well.

"Palpitoad!." Palpitoad vibrated with a wide smile before he gave Misty a massive lick with his tongue.

Dawn began to laugh at that. Anything that made Misty uncomfortable was good in her book and she supported it, she just wished Muk was here to give Misty a nice hug. Dawn was liking Palpitoad even more. That was until she saw Misty's face at the lick. It wasn't one of horror as one would expect. No it was one of pure joy as she beamed at Palpitoad not caring about the lick.

"Thank you!" Misty screamed before throwing her arms around Palpitoad in a hug. "What an honor from a Pokémon like you, I knew that we would be friends. Come on, let's swim together with my own Pokémon."

Misty then got up and leapt into the water again in a graceful dive. Palpitoad didn't hesitate. His trainer wasn't saying no and he really wanted to swim with this nice woman and meet the new Pokémon he saw in the pool. He followed Misty in and swam to her, eager to make new friends.

"Misty, er, really does have a way with water types." Dawn said in amazement as she and Ash watched Palpitoad play with Misty and the other Pokémon, showing off his impressive skills in the process. "I think only Gardenia has ever shown such pleasure at a Pokémon's affection."

"Misty is like that when it comes to water Pokémon." Ash said with a laugh. "Remember that this is the same girl who took being compared to a Tentacruel as a compliment on her beauty and not the insult it was intended to be. In fact she saw it as high praise because of how cute she thinks Tentacruel are."

"True that is a little odd." Dawn admitted. "But it shows her passion I guess. Palpitoad seems to like her."

"He does." Ash said with a smile as Misty and Palpitoad dove to the bottom with ease before they were joined by Goldeen in some game. "I can't think of a better person to train him for a few months while I don't have him on me. That is one thing that is hard to do at the ranch, train. If I can get some trusted people to train my Pokémon for a bit while they aren't with me it would be great. I know Misty would increase his power a lot."

"True she will." Dawn said as Misty swam underwater to the side and then surfaced to rest on the edge and look up at them.

"What are you two chatting about?" Misty asked them curiously. "You should be here with me and not out there."

"In a bit." Ash said and Dawn just nodded not exactly in the mood to swim so soon after her impromptu dip earlier but if Ash got in she would as well. "We were just discussing Palpitoad and training."

"I see and my offer?" Misty asked suddenly getting serious. "I may have only just met Palpitoad but already we are getting along really well. I can tell he's powerful and well raised so I really want to train him for you if I can."

"Well you have met, let's get Palpitoad's opinion on it, he is the one with the final say." Ash said with a smile before calling out. "Palpitoad, come here for a moment."

Palpitoad heard his trainer's call and swam over, diving and then coming up to project himself out of the water and onto the side in a surprisingly graceful move. He was having a great time in the pool but Ash wanted him, he would come as it usually meant something good was going to happen.

"Palpitoad." Palpitoad vibrated in greeting.

"Palpitoad, do you like Misty?" Ash asked and Palpitoad nodded his body, it was the truth the girl was a lot of fun and really knew water types. "If she offered to train you for me, would you want that."

"Palpitoad?" Palpitoad asked confused, he wasn't sure what his trainer was asking.

"What I mean is that after our next gym battle, instead of sending you back to the ranch to rest and wait for me I would instead send you here to be under Misty's care as my Pokémon in training." Ash explained. "That way, while we are apart after Vermilion City and either the gym I would need you for, probably the one on Cinnabar Island which is a fire type gym, or at the very least the Indigo Conference, you will continue to train under a master like Misty. This way you will be in fighting shape and at your best for when I next need you."

"Palpitoad?" Palpitoad asked again less confused but still wondering what it implied.

"Huh?" Misty asked not sure what the Pokémon wanted but hoping that it was good.

"I think Palpitoad is asking what it will entail." Ash said and Palpitoad nodded. "It will basically mean that Misty will train with you and use you as if you were hers but return you to me when I ask her to. That means you will be a regular in her gym battles and get lots of experience. I have done this with other Pokémon like Charizard and Gliscor and it worked really well for them."

"Without a doubt." Misty said happily, backing Ash up. "I want to be able to train you and the gym battles are great ways to do just that. Plus you will get to battle a lot more than you would at the ranch. It will also really shock some electric types to use you. Please Palpitoad, let me train you for Ash."

Palpitoad looked at Misty's sparkling sea green eyes and saw the truth in them. She would train him for Ash while they were apart, something he knew couldn't get at the ranch, and then when he went back to Ash he would be stronger and more experienced than ever before. Misty was clearly a gifted trainer and one who loved water type Pokémon and he could learn a lot from her.

Palpitoad could agree to this, it would be fun and allow for a lot of stories to tell. It had also been done with Charizard and he was Ash's best so it was good enough for Palpitoad to improve his ranking at the ranch. Also it was after his next battle with Ash so he would have some time with Ash first.

"Palpitoad." Palpitoad said with a nod and a smile as Misty squealed in joy.

"Well there you have it." Ash said with a smile. "I will send him to you after I beat Surge."

"I can't wait." Misty said happily. "Come on you two, go get changed and join us. No excuses now."

"Fine." Ash said and Dawn sighed in agreement knowing that there was no way out of it and deciding it would be fun to swim a little with Ash and Piplup. "Give us a moment to change."

"And make sure that you don't use the same changing room." Misty yelled at them as they left while Palpitoad jumped into the pool to join her again. "Same rules as at my house apply here you know. Don't make me send a Pokémon after you."

Dawn just grumbled but she and Ash would comply, she didn't trust Misty not to have some form of precaution against them having fun while changing not including the Pokémon threat. It was something that Dawn could live with, for the moment because she was actually looking forward to swimming with Ash. It had been an eventful day and they could all use the break because after today it was back on the road and onto their next challenge, whatever that was.

As y'all can tell Ash's decision to let Misty train Palpitoad after his match with Surge (coming in Part XXVII) is relevant to the story but not major enough for inclusion in the main series so it is here. There is another Supplement coming out sometime next week set between Parts XXVI and XXVII and will be a little different from most Supplements as it was added not to back up Dreams but because of a request for the return of a character of the day from the anime. As I couldn't fit that character into the main series because there was no way to do so without detracting from the main plot line I wrote a Supplement for it. Consider it a side adventure that Ash and Dawn have while traveling similar to how they have them in the anime. This style can be done on request and is a good way to have characters for the day from the anime return in this series for a character of the supplement kinda thing. There will be some characters of the day appearing in the main series (Parts XXVIII and XXXIX will have one each) but that will be rare and only when they are needed. Anyway that is all for now, please continue favorite and follow both me and this story to keep abreast with new releases and keep the reviews coming. Until next time.
