Hey, everyone! This is my Ninjago one-shot book! First up, requested by the incredible CaptainSteve1, is Gingershipping (JayXSkylor)! Enjoy!

(Set after season 5)

Jay had a hard time understanding what happened. A hard time remembering. He concluded that it was either the blood loss, or the gas that the Skeletons used on him.

It was supposed to be a piece of cake, so Cole and Jay went at it alone. Bad move. Instead of five rouge Skulkin, there were twenty. With swords. And gas bombs.

That's where Jay stopped remembering, but Kai filled him in when he woke up in the hospital. Apparently, the Master of Lightning had been stabbed repeatedly, while Cole broke his arm. Jay had suffered major blood loss, while Cole just needed to rest. Not that Jay was comparing their conditions. Or maybe he was.

What Jay was really trying to understand is why Nya was visiting Cole and not him. Kai had told him that Nya wanted to be with Cole, and that she gives him her well wishes. But Cole's room was not far. She could easily swing by….if she wanted to.

Somehow, Jay didn't think she did. The're relationship had been spiraling ever since that machine told Nya Cole was the one for her. Jay had tried to save it, but maybe it wasn't worth the fight…..

But, Jay didn't want to be alone. He knew he needed someone , and he thought Nya was the one, but now, as he lay in a hospital bed, alone, it was clear that she wasn't.

"There are other fish in the sea." He said softly, looking out the small window, thinking. To be honest, he did have a crush on another girl, but what if she broke his heart, too? No, he wouldn't risk it. She probably hated him. And, if by some miracle she does like him, she's got to make the first move, not Jay. He was too scared to mess up.

But, Skylor Chen was someone he didn't want to give up on.

"Knock knock." A voice said, and Jay turned his head to see Skylor, her red hair strung up in a messy ponytail. Jay smiled. What are the odds she would come the instant he thought of her?

"Come on in." Skylor smiled and walked in, sitting on the chair next to the bed. Jay tried to sit up, but she placed a strong hand on his shoulder, punching him back down.

"Don't get up, you're really badly injured. I tried to smuggle some noodles in for you, but they said that you were so banged up that you'll be eating from an IV for a bit."

Jay pouted, but didn't say anything. Skylor noticed his strange silence.

"Are you okay? You're really quiet."

Jay shook his head. " I don't want you to get involved with this mess, Sky, especially how you and Kai are going so well…"

She bit her lip. "No, actually...we broke up about a month ago...I take it he didn't tell you."

"Wait? You two broke up?" Maybe there was hope for me, he thought, "But, I thought it was going so well!"

She shrugged. "It was, but he's always interested in other girls. I don't like men like that. I like the loyal ones. But, enough about me, is this about Nya?"

Jay sighed. "Yea...I've been in here for a couple of hours now, but she hasn't come. I think she's chosen Cole. Which, I mean, if she's happy, then I guess that's good for her."

"But it still hurts." Skylor added, and Jay gave a tight smile. "I'm here for you, Jay. I hope you know that.

"Thanks, Sky. Right back at you."

"Good." She said shortly, getting up from the chair and sitting on the bed, facing Jay. He raised his eyebrows, but said nothing.

"I need advice."

Jay opened his mouth in fake shock. "Wait, Skylor Chen asking me for advice? What has Ninjago come to?"

She laughed, a bright laugh that made Jay blush slightly. He hoped she didn't notice.

"Yup, I'm desperate. Kai's interest in other girls wasn't the only reason we broke up...I also told him that I had a crush on someone else. I need help getting their attention, now that I'm single."

Jay's heart felt like it stopped, and he felt hopelessness well up inside of him. I'm doomed, the only other girl I like is interested in someone else. He thought, but he knew that he had to help her, no matter what. Be a good friend.

"Okay...so, what's he like?"

She sighed happily, her eyes meeting Jay's. "He's smart, incredibly funny, and so, so cute. He's a talker, but it's like every word that comes out of his mouth is a dream. He's sort of like an adorable little puppy, if you know what I mean. Yippy, but someone you just want to wrap in a hug and watch movies with."

Jay stuttered. That sounded….exactly like him. Well, maybe except the puppy part, he really wasn't that cute. "Umm...I guess...you should...umm."

Skylor laughed. "I like you, Jay, I really like you. You're just so...perfect."

Jay's eyes gained a faraway look, Wait, she likes me? And she told me? Maybe...maybe I could tell her?

He cleared his throat, nervousness spiking in his injured body. " Are you serious? I mean, I….wow, I never thought…. Well, I...I like you too."

It was now her turn to be shocked, and she punched his leg. "Stop kidding with me."

"No, Sky, I'm dead serious. I never thought you felt the same, but I've liked you silently ever since we met. You're so strong, not the kind of girl that would usually go for a weak person like me. And, I was with Nya, and you were with Kai, so I thought it would never work. Am I really like a puppy? I've always seen myself like a meerkat…"

"I've always liked you too, Jay. And, I think you are both a meerkat and a puppy."

Jay sat up, and grabbed Skylor's hand, tentatively. "So, would you want to go out sometime? I don't know, to the movies or something?"

"Sounds like a plan. After you're healed." She said, and Skylor quickly leaned over and gave Jay a peck on the cheek. His face went bright red, and he watched as Skylor grabbed her stuff.

"See you later, Skylor."

"See you, Jay." She said, and left the room.

Jay leaned back happily into the pillows, both the pain in his heart and body gone. He closed his eyes, and never realized that Lloyd walked into the room.

"Hey, Jay, how are you feeling?" He asked innocently, and Jay's eyes snapped open.

"Oh, Lloyd, I'm great. No, I'm over the moon. I'm over the universe."

Lloyd raised his eyes skeptically. "I think the pain meds are talking."

Jay waved him off. "Nope. I'm the one talking. Oh, tell Nya and Cole I'm happy for them, And that if I'm not Cole's best man at the wedding, I'll sue. I need the money."

Lloyd walked out of the room in fear, confusion written on his features. "Oh...kay…."

Jay laughed, and opened his phone, clicking on the contacts app. He found Skylor's name, and added a couple of heart emojis beside it. He felt like he may have been going overboard, but he could tell that they were going to go a long way. Hopefully

Jay opened the texting app, and his hands flew over the text box, typing three words. He didn't send it, feeling that it was too early for this, but he had it ready. For when the time came.
