Hashébaa' : Female Warrior Chapter 2 : Hunting Trip
Bella woke up with a determined look on her face. Today was the day that she was going to admit her true feelings for Jacob. She could see it now. At first he would be shocked but then he would pull her into one of his famous bear hugs and plant a big one on her lips. Bella rushed to get ready so she could hurry down to La Push. She had promised Emily that she would help her prepare for this evening's bonfire.
Bella drove to La Push with a smile on her face. She knew that today everything was going to change for her. As she pulled up to Sam and Emily's little cottage she rushed to get the food she prepared out as well. She found it slightly odd that no one had come to greet her, as they usually do, in poorly hidden attempts to sneak some of the food away for themselves. Bella chuckled at that thought, thinking that Emily might have a better hold on the boys than she thought. As she stepped inside the house she caught the end of someone speaking.
"-my imprint, Willow. Isn't she just the most beautiful person you have ever seen?" She heard low chuckles at that. Then a timid voice followed after. "Stop it. You're embarrassing me." That was said with humor. Bella couldn't wait to congratulate whatever wolf had imprinted on the soft spoken girl. As she traveled further into the room she finally got an opportunity to see the lucky wolf. Then all you could hear was a glass plate shattering on the floor.
"Jacob?" Bella had tears streaming down her face, which was now contorted into a look of pure anguish. And with that she ran out of the room.
All the wolves felt guilty. Many had come to notice the changed feelings of the small girl and were happy for the two. That was before Jacob imprinted, that is. Now they just felt bad. Everyone got front row seats to the shit storm that was Sam, Leah, and Emily, and no one wanted to be put in that situation again. That was why Sam and Leah were wary of the blooming relationship in the first place. They both knew how bad that could hurt, to both parties.
Later that day when Jacob tried to go and confront Bella, all he found was a distraught Charlie and a poorly written letter explaining her absence. It was at this point that Jacob realised just how much he hurt his best friend, the girl he promised to love forever.
"Miss? MISS? You have to wake up now. The flight has landed, you have
to leave the plane now." The flight attendants' remarks woke her from a sad but real dream. Bella has thought of all the times, all those many years ago, that she would sit in her room for hours wondering what she had done wrong to deserve what had happened to her, but her brothers soon helped her realize that none of this was her fault and she shouldn't dwell in the past for too long.
After Bella left the plane and went through baggage claim she went looking for Cherry. Cherry was a bright cherry red Hummer H3T that she had restored a few years back and she hasn't parted with the tank ever since. As
she took the two hour drive to La Push she continuously had to remind herself why she was doing this, to stop from turning around and hightailing it back home.
When Bella finally arrived at the house she noticed that no one was home, and that this was a perfect opportunity to go out and hunt.
As she rushed through the thick evergreen forest she reminisced in the first days of her manifestation.
Isa rushed towards the muffled sounds of screams, growls, and tears of
flesh. Her mind went back to her older brother, Mickey's, words. "Listen to the wind and let your instincts and the spirits guide you." Today was her first hunt for a prey that wasn't a coyote or bear. She stopped focusing on the disturbing sounds and focused on the leaves beneath her feet, the branches grazing her skin, and the wind blowing in her hair… and that's when she heard them, the voices that used to haunt her dreams. The spirits themselves. They whispered in her ears what to do and led her towards the gruesome scene. The beast was standing over a girl that appeared to be around college age and possibly out camping with friends. The other wolves, if that is what you could call them, were finishing off their meals, the girl's friends. Her pleas for mercy were silenced as the monster ripped into her throat, destroying her long blond locks in the process. There were about seven other of the vile creatures along with the one that stood over the blond girl. He appeared to be the leader. This was the first time Isa got a good look at one of their mortal enemies. Children of the Moon, they were called. These were the real werewolves, full moon and all. They looked like a mixture between man and wolf, a bad one at that. The young warrior was so lost in her thoughts, she did not realize that her brothers were trying to devise a plan. It would not be long before the pack recognized their presence. The only thing stopping them from being discovered was that fact that their scents and heartbeats could not be sensed unless it was willing so. As it was her first hunt, Isa's brothers would be more observant of her attack. Deep down, all she wanted to do was make her brothers proud. They had invested a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to see her succeed, especially Matthieu and Daniel. As the five surrounded the pack she went through the others' minds, trying to pick up the fighting tactics that they were going to use so she wouldn't get in the way. Then, quickly, she dove into her own mind trying to find any strategy for her own target. After that, it was only flashes of screams and blood and then time slowed down. The alpha turned to attack and then her plan just fell in place. As he surged forward so did she. Isa landed on the ground on four feet. She had shifted into a large majestic rhino. She jumped in time with the werewolf and impaled him on her long horn.
Afterwards, her brothers just patted her back as a 'job well done' and went along with their day. That night she went to her favorite cliff and sat there and meditated until the sunrise. As she sat still listening to the night come and go, from the outside all one could see was a girl in perfect serenity, but on the inside there was only turmoil. Today, Isa felt as if she got a glimpse into the dark side that she had been warned about. She was afraid that she would soon come to embrace that darkness and lose the girl inside. That day she promised herself that she would never let that happen to her. If Isa only knew how hard that promise would be to keep.
As Bella finished off the mountain lion she looked to the sky and realized that it was time for her to go and face the music. When she arrived at her destination she sat and admired the building. She had first gotten the deed to the property when she was seven. This was around that time that her older cousin Quil, or Four as she called him, was killed in a boating accident. He left her a lot of things in his will, including the land that the huge house now sat on. Now, she had never been in the house, but she remembered the days she would sit in her room for days on end designing every single detail in the house. It was what got her interested in interior design in the first place.
She was startled out of her thoughts as she heard movement in the house and realized her brothers were home. Bella took a deep breath, and steeled herself for the conversation that was bound to take place, and started towards the house.
