October 20th, 1995. Sunday.

"I hate Umbridge," Selena muttered, staring at the piece of clean, pink paper tacked to their bulletin board.

Renee nodded, sighing. "I can't believe how controlling she is. That perfume-wearing, cat-loving, pink toad..."

Selena frowned. Sunday had been going well, everyone calm and ready for classes tomorrow, but enjoying the day. She and Renee were about to go to the Great Hall to watch the Gobstone Club play. However, the Gryffindor Common Room, lit with golden rays from the morning sun, was marred by Umbridge's latest decree:

_ BY ORDER OF _

The High Inquisitor of Hogwarts

All student Organizations, Societies, Teams, Groups, and Clubs are henceforth disbanded.

An Organization, Society, Team, Group, or Club is hereby defined as a regular meeting of three of more students.

Permission to re-form may be sought from the High Inquisitor (Professor Umbridge).

No Student Organization, Society, Team, Group, or Club may exist without the knowledge and approval of the High Inquisitor.

Any student found to have formed, or to belong to, an Organization, Society, Team, Group, or Club that has not been approved by the High Inquisitor will be expelled.

The above is in accordance with Educational Decree Number Twenty-four.

Signed:

Dolores Jane Umbridge

HIGH INSQUISITOR

"Oh, she wants to see any new club? I think I have one for her right here," Renee said, making a fist.

Selena cracked a smile, staring at the board. How can one woman cause so much trouble?

Colin Creevey walked up, and snapped a picture of the paper with his ever-present camera. "Hi Renee, hi Selena."

"Hey, Colin," both girls said politely.

The Fourth Year looked around, and then leaned in. "Do you suppose this will stop our little... D.A.D.A meetings?"

Selena shrugged. "I think it will slow them down, but they won't stop." She didn't have to mention the threat of being expelled.

He grinned, nodding. His brown eyes glimmered with the usual exuberance Colin had about everything. "Me too."

Selena watched him turn towards the decree and take a picture of the Ministry stamp. Slowly, a tingle spread through her stomach and she felt like saying something, something to make him smile again.

"Sel," Renee whispered to her. "You're blushing. What's wrong?"

Selena lifted her hand to her cheek and felt the warmth, color slowly spreading on her face. She turned, and walked to the chair by the turret window, using her hand to cover the blush.

Renee followed, brows furrowed. "What's wrong?"

Selena glanced back at Colin, who smiled again, his mousy hair ruffled. When she saw his eyes shine again, glancing at the decree without an ounce of reproach, she smiled, her stomach flipping. Colin waved to them, and left through the portrait hole. The second he was gone, Selena glanced up at her friend.

Renee gasped, a sly smirk growing on her lips. "Selena, do you like Colin?"

Selena gave a laugh that sounded choked, like half of her didn't believe it. "No. No, of course not."

"Are you sure?" Renee asked. "I've seen that look before."

Selena giggled. "Why? Do you look at Seamus that way?"

Renee gaped, moving her mouth, but not speaking, like a fish out of water. "I surely do not!"

"Do too," Selena said.

"Do not," Renee snapped.

"Do."

"Don't."

"Do."

"Don't."

Selena laughed. "Whatever."

"Seamus Finnegan... and me. You're funny," Renee scoffed. "Anyway, we can't watch the Gobstone match thanks to Ms. Killjoy, but we can head down to the Great Hall, and snag a few pieces of toast or bacon before it's all gone. What do you say to a late breakfast?"

Selena nodded, happy to leave their conversation behind. The girls headed out of Gryffindor Tower, Selena trying to get her nerves to settle.

Once they were down in the Great Hall, they took seats at the Gryffindor table. All around them, people were whispering, chattering, running around talking about Umbridge's new decree.

Sasha sat down, so furious Selena was surprised the older girl wasn't smoking. Her green eyes blazed as she glanced between Selena and Renee. "You've seen it, haven't you?"

Selena bobbed her head. "Unfortunately."

"Both the Quidditch team and the You-Know-What are canceled. She can't do that!" Sasha seethed.

"What?" Renee said, her eyes growing wide. "Did Harry say that? That it's canceled?"

Sasha huffed, tilting her head back, long dark hair falling over her shoulders. "I mean, how could it not be? This is tyranny."

Fred and Anne sat down, both of them looking somber. "Well said," Fred commented.

Sasha slammed her fist on the table so hard, Selena's goblet of orange juice rattled and tipped over. "That hag, that banshee will not, cannot stop Quidditch! I don't care if I have to get a thousand snufflers from her office back outside to their pen, I will get our team back!"

"My last year at Hogwarts can't end like this," Fred said, sighing.

"I know how you feel," Sasha replied.

Renee nodded, about to say something, but her eyes drifted off towards the Slytherin table. "Hm... Sel, look."

Selena turned, and saw Wendy, her blond hair in pigtails, sitting amongst the Slytherins. Draco Malfoy was next to her, neither of them touching. Wendy was talking quickly, nodding occasionally. She smiled at Draco, and he actually smiled back, just slightly. Pansy Parkinson sat across from them, glaring at Wendy like she would love nothing more than to strangle her.

Selena turned, and tilted her head. "Wonder what that means. Do you think they're still together?"

Renee shrugged. "I dunno. Wendy hasn't mentioned him in a while. And, c'mon, his family hates Muggleborns... But... I don't know. Nevertheless, I don't like what I'm seeing."

"Why?" Selena asked, surprised.

"Because," Renee said, exasperated, like it was obvious. "Their table is out of fresh sugared rolls. It's all wrong!"

So, I think that was a pretty quick update! How about you?

I really like this chapter. It's a filler, if anything, but it does show some important things. Like Wendy and Draco. Yes, yes Draco DOES have a conscience, I owe him that.

So... what do you think? Does Selena like Colin? Did you picture her liking someone else? Did she really like that person? Or has she forgotten about them?

So, the next chapter will include everyone that was at the meeting, all the characters that agreed, and probably two others that aren't.

I really hope that you liked this chapter. Tell me what you want to see, who you think should be together. IT'S ALL INTERESTING TO ME!

Please, I really, really, really, want to hear all your opinions.

Thanks to:

CharmedMillie

for reviewing the last chapter.

I really hope that you will review this chapter, and have enjoyed it. Please take my polls, I'm really relying on the reviews and the polls for extra plot I haven't already thought of.

So, give me chapter suggestions. I'm supposed to have 20 or so chapters per year. We aren't so far in this one. I think about 7 chapters. Now, if you get me to 285 reviews, I will post the next chapter today.

Thanks for reading, please review!

12/23/17: In the book, this day was October 7th, 1995, a Saturday. I changed the date for my story. Also, I changed the story up a bit to keep Wendy and Draco vague. I think I had Draco characterized wrong in a way that was unrealistic.
