April 8th, 1996. Thursday.

"Alright, now, what is the spell to transfigure something into a dragon?"

Selena bit her lip, thinking, as a particularly chilly breeze blew across the grounds. Yellowed grass replaced snow banks that had melted over the weekend, welcoming little animals coming out of hibernation. "The spell is called..."

Renee burst out laughing as Tess tried again to hurl a stone out across the Great Lake which just splashed into the water with a 'ploop.'

Before Selena could answer (or really just say whatever Transfiguration spell came to mind) a ball flew over her and Bronwen's heads, rolling on the grass before a set of feet ran over to them. Bronwen put down the textbook that she had held over herself as a shield.

"Sorry about that," a girl's voice said.

Selena looked up, shielding her eyes against another fierce gust of cold air. A slender, pale girl who looked to be about sixteen smiled down at her and Bronwen, brushing back a lock of her long, black hair to reveal crescent moon earrings.

"Oh! I've seen you in the Common Room," Bronwen said as she smiled. "Is it Felicity?"

The girl smiled back shyly, shrugging. "Close enough. It's Serenity Moon."

"Serenity," Bronwen said, snapping her fingers. "That's right! Sorry about that. Hey, what does a Redcap say?"

"That's not my hat!" both Ravenclaws said loudly before bursting into giggles.

Selena watched them for a moment, confusedly staring as the two girls laughed at an inside, Ravenclaw joke before an amused laugh escaped her lips.

Bronwen sighed with a smile before turning Selena. She glanced back at Serenity. "I'm Bronwen Lovell. This is my friend, Selena Malast. Over there are our friends, Tess Underwood and Renee Pierce."

"Nice to meet you," Serenity said, some of the shyness seeming to melt away. She grabbed her necklace, a star-shaped amulet on the end. Selena gave the girl a once-over, admiring her outfit. From her boots, to her jeans and blouse, to her jacket, all of it was black. The most color was in her eyes, the iris' violet.

Bronwen cleared her throat. "Sorry, sorry, I should be focusing... What spell were we on? Dragon transfiguration?"

"I'll let you two get back to work," Serenity said with a warm smile that competed against the wind. "It was nice meeting you both." Without another word, she grabbed the ball, walking back from where she'd come.

April 9th, 1996. Friday.

2 o'clock

"Anne, hurry up!" Selena hissed up the stairs of the Gryffindor Common Room.

"Coming, coming!" Anne whispered into the darkness as she descended the stone steps to where her cousin was waiting. Selena was clad in her pajamas, wand in hand. Anne pulled her cloak on before clasping it and giving Selena a smile. "Let's spy on Umbridge."

Selena nodded excitedly as the two girls left Gryffindor Tower, undisturbed by the Fat Lady who was sleeping soundly, hugging a loaf of painted bread.

To spy on Umbridge they were going to stick one of Fred and George's sticky ears under the desk in her classroom with an enchantment placed on it. Anne had procured the prank from her boyfriend, part of a prototype Fred and his twin were developing.

Selena and Anne rounded the corner only to smack into a girl who shrieked, falling backwards.

Anne immediately helped the girl up whilst Selena stamped her foot. "How do I keep doing this? I'm so sorry!"

Lillian Genier shook off the daze for a second before grinning. "Oh, hi Selena. Good to see your shoulder run into me again." She turned towards Anne. "Hi. Have we met because you don't look very familiar?!"

Anne blinked for a moment before cocking her head. "Was that a question or a statement?"

Lillian paused before nodding and brushing her choppy bangs out of her eyes. "Both!"

"Right, okay, well we're in a hurry so..." Anne drifted off as Selena cleared her throat.

"Do you both have trouble sleeping too?" Lillian asked curiously, blinking her bright blue eyes.

Footsteps from around the corner made them all pause before Lillian pointed to a column. "Hide behind there or we'll all be cleaning Filch's office for a week!"

A tall figure in a long cloak emerged from around the corner, stopping right beside the column where the three girls were squeezed together. Selena watched as the person walked by a podium with a fire-bowl on it that let a silver Prefect badge glint off his chest. The firelight revealed the messy blonde hair she knew so well.

"Damon!" Selena called out by reflex and in relief before Anne gave her an incredulous look.

"Selena?" Damon glanced in the general direction of her voice.

"Uhh... No, it's umm... Ah, who am I kidding, hello Damon," Selena sighed as she stepped out with Lillian groaning, walking out from behind the column too. Anne peeked out.

"Why are you all out of bed?" Damon asked them as Selena watched his eyes flit between the three of them. "It's after curfew."

"Insomnia," Lillian said quickly with a simple nod.

"Selena, what about you and the ginger over there?" he asked with a kind of humorous tone as Anne gave an indignant scoff.

Selena bit her lip, twisting her wand in her hands as she felt the delicate wood and star carvings brush her palms. "Since when have you been a prefect?"

"Malfoy was sick, so Professor Snape asked me to substi- are you trying to change the subject?" he asked as the fire from the podium gave a large flicker, lighting up the small space with a warm, orange glow that bathed the left side of Damon's face.

"Oh!" Lillian said as she snapped her fingers. "You're the handsome one!"

Selena felt her face turn red for no apparent reason as Damon glanced at the Ravenclaw. "Huh?"

A set of feet sounded from around the corner. "Griffin? Is that you? C'mon, we have to go sweep the second-floor corridor."

Damon glanced at the corner and then back at the three girls before putting a finger to his lips and waving his hand. "Yeah, I'm coming," he called back.

Selena mouthed 'thank you' before she, Anne, and Lillian all left the other way.

Well I should have posted this chapter a couple days ago SO SORRY ABOUT THAT!

I am going to do the Patronous chapter next I think! I am pretty excited! Hopefully we will meet another new character soon!

I still have a few characters to introduce! Did you all like Serenity? She is so awesome! She will definitely be in the story more!
