Sorry for the delay, I have to read my story again before making an ending since its been too long and like I said before, I am good at starting stories but ending it- nahh. So don't expect much. Ok?
Without further ado, let's get into it
…
"Shiho I-" Shinichi stopped mid- sentence, eyes wide.
"Is that my mother's r- ahh.. my head!" he dropped on his knees, his hands holding his head like a lifeline. Shiho stood up and went towards him worriedly. "Shiho, I-"
"I-" He passed out, unable to continue his words, leaving her worried and scared in the middle of the rain.
…
"How is he?" She asked the doctor as soon as he came out of Shinichi's hospital room. Hakase went home for a while, leaving her alone in the waiting area.
"He's fine now although his headaches were more frequent this past few days. We scheduled his tests so let's see Miss. You can see him for yourself now. I'll go ahead"
As the doctor went towards his next patient, Shiho stood there unmoving. After a few minutes, she sighed and went towards his door.
"Hey" Shinichi greeted her with a smile on his face as soon as he saw her. Shiho smiled back, though hesitantly.
"So, are you ok?" she asked, walking towards his window. Without looking at him she asked again, "You're ok now, aren't you?"
She kept her gazed outside, unaware of Shinichi's longing gaze directly towards her. "I'm fine. I already –"
"Shinichi!"
But before he could finished it, Ran's voice echoed throughout the hospital room, breaking the heavy atmosphere inside. Clearing her throat, Shiho excused herself- leaving Shinichi and Ran alone.
"Wait-" Shinichi tried to stop her but she already went outside.
"Shinichi?" Ran asked on the verge of crying. Shinichi coldly looked at her and with a firm voice, he said; "Ran, you need to know…"
…
"You what?" Hakase shouted loud enough to even hurt Shinichi's ears. The old man stood there with wide eyes and if the situation wasn't serious enough, his look would be so comical.
"I remember everything Hakase. It took me long enough but now I did" Shinichi repeated his words, eyes boring holes on the old man's head. He looked so troubled which caught the old man's attention even more.
"Hakase…."
Sitting on the side of the detective's hospital bed, the old man looked at him worriedly; "What's bothering you then?"
Shinichi smiled bitterly, eyes focused on the window opposite him. "It's been months since I last told her I love her. I even went on a date with Ran. What if.." He trailed off, eyes now looking at his old neighbor. "I' am afraid Hakase. What if these past few months, she got tired of waiting for me. What if she's the one who doesn't want to remember me as me"
Hakase patted his shoulder, eyes blazing with care. He's been watching the both of them and seeing one of them this hurt, made his heart ache too. "Shinichi, you knew her well enough to even doubt her, right?"
"Don't tell her then Hakase. I want to surprise her. I want to make this memorable enough"
"Did you tell Ran- san about this ?"
Shinichi's eyes wore than angry look again. He's mad to Ran but at some point, he understands her.
"Ran, you need to know… I love her" He smiled at his childhood friend. Ran on the other hand raised an eyebrow, clearly lost.
"What do you mean Shinichi?" Ran held his right hand. It was tight enough to even hurt him but he didn't pulled away, he let her hold him. He looked at her with pity on his eyes. He wanted to scream at her but he knew well enough that it was his fault too.
"I remember everything Ran. I love her and I' am going to marry her. What you did…. Taking advantage of the situation.. I- why Ran?"
Ran's tears fell as soon as she heard his words. 'why indeed?' She asked herself. She knew why though, she's never been this selfish except for love. "Because I love you. Because you're mine Shinichi. You love me too.. you told me"
Shinichi held her hands on his and smiled affectionately. "I loved you but that's it. Loved"
"I'm sorry Ran.. I really am"
"Ran- san really loves you that much that she's willing to hurt someone just to be with you. Shinichi, you handled it really well. I'm proud" Hakase smiled eagerly, even pulling him into a hug. Shinichi smiled as well.
"Yeah Hakase. But I don't know how to handle that one particular woman though"
Hakase laughed out loud and walked towards the door. As soon as his hand came into contact with the door handle, he turned around and looked at the detective straight in the eyes. "Don't do anything stupid Shinichi. Tell her as soon as you see her"
…
Shinichi looked at the old man in front of him with an annoyed expression. To say he's annoyed is an understatement.
"Paris? Seriously?" he asked his neighbor again. It's been 2 days since he last saw Shiho. The last time was when they were talking and Ran came in and ruin it. After that, only Hakase came and checked up on him saying Shiho was busy. He understand it though but Paris? That was a bit shocking.
"Paris?" he repeated, making Hakase shiver a little at his piercing gaze. "She went to Paris?"
"Yeah, she went to Paris last night. A business trip"
"And?"
"And what Shinichi?"
Shinichi sighed, making himself comfortable on the not so comfortable hospital bed. "She didn't even bothered to… I don't know.. tell me?"
"Did you bothered to tell her that you remembered everything?" Hakase countered, raising an eyebrow at his beloved neighbor.
"No but… It's a surprised"
"Tell her as soon as you can. Ok?"
Shinichi nodded his head and smiled. He had already planned something and with that the only thing he could do is to wait.
"yeah Hakase.. I will"
…
The following day, the doctor came in and told Shinichi that he can finally go home and to say that he's beyond happy is an understatement. So as soon as he went inside Hakase's house, he couldn't help but awkwardly dance and sing a happy self- composed tune; unaware of a strawberry blonde haired woman's curious gaze in the kitchen island holding a cup of coffee. Without his knowledge, Shiho came home the very same day- only a few hours ahead of him.
"Happy much eh, Kudo- kun?" Her voice stopped him, eyes wide from shocked as he saw her all dress in her casual clothes a few feet away.
"You're here…" he whispered and as soon as he saw her nod her head, he went towards her and pulling her in a tight hug. "I miss you."
"I miss so damn much" he repeated, even pulling her tighter than before.
"What are you talking about?" she asked him as soon as he pulled away.
He smiled at her on the verge of crying, kneeling down in front of her. "I love you and yes, I finally remember you. It took me this long to get my memories back but I know, deep within me- I'm still hopelessly in love with you. So, I- uhm" He scratched the back of his head and smiled awkwardly. Shiho on the other hand, raised her eyebrow even higher- making him even more nervous.
"Ha. Ha. This wasn't my original plan. I mean, I planned to uhm, drive you every place I'm with you starting from Teitan Elementary school, to that old newspaper office, to that old blue castle and a lot more but it was a spur of the moment thing and I… will you still.. I don't know.. marry me despite me going on a date with Ran and forgetting about you?"
She laughed out loud and pulled him upwards. Shinichi stood there gaping as she continuously laugh but seeing his curious look, she got her wits back and showed him his mother's ring. "I'm still wearing this right? Of course, I will. Ran- san loves you and I cant blame her but I trusted you because I love you"
Shinichi pulled her to a tight hug again, "I love you and please remind me again not to follow anyone suspicious, Shiho"
…
