A/N: I love Masakox's videos, not going to lie. But I feel like there could be so much more shown, since sometimes it's like "everything plays out the same in these parts", I thought I would take my own twist on it. So, I have decided to fill in those gaps and change some things up. So, here is my take on Masakox's "What of Raditz Turned Good" series. Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 1: Kakarot
In a space pod, deep in the reaches of space, a Saiyan slept. He had long, black hair, and a strange device on his face. He was traveling fast towards the unsuspecting Earth. One thought remained on the Saiyan's mind; his brother. His eyes opened as he neared Earth. He would only need to wait one more minute. Finally, he felt his pod fall through the atmosphere. He had gotten accustomed to it, so he didn't hold onto anything for security.
He felt the pod's impact with the ground, and smirked. Its time to come home, brother, he thought. He watched as the door opened, and was surprised to still see life. Flourishing life, nothing was destroyed at all. The Saiyan felt fury rising in him, and turned on his scouter. Before he could fly in the direction of a high power level, the sound of a machine made him turn his head. The thing that stood before him was a weak, tiny piece of trash!
He checked his scouter and laughed, a power level of five. "A power level of only five? What trash. Kakarot should have wiped out this planet long ago." A loud boom sounded as the earthling shot something at him. The Saiyan caught it easily and looked down at it. He laughed with contempt. A bullet? He smirked and flicked the bullet at the earthling, then watched as it crashed into its own machine. "Hmph, Kakarot shouldn't have had a hard time on this planet."
The Saiyan then left the area to find the other power level. He snorted with disgust as he saw more life flourishing on this planet. He couldn't believe his brother hadn't finished off these weak, disgusting earthlings. But then, he remembered what the prince had called him, and wondered if it was fair to say what he did about the earthlings, if he too, was treated as a weakling. Finally, he made it to the power level.
Instead of being faced with a bloodthirsty Saiyan, he was faced with a Namekian. He snorted, this Namekian looked terrified. But how did could it know he was so strong? The Saiyan had a feeling that this particular Namekian was born on Earth. He was incredibly strong for a Namekian. The Saiyan shook his head to clear his thoughts, and glared at the green man.
"Hello, Namek, have you by any chance met someone around here named Kakarot?" the tall Saiyan questioned.
"I don't know who you're talking about. And if I did, why would I tell you?" the Namekian said, his eyes narrowed suspiciously.
"If you aren't going to help me. Then I'll just have to kill you. Double Sun -" the Saiyan began, but he was cut off by a higher power level. It was moving, and fast. But not fast enough. "This is your lucky day, Namek. Don't cross paths with me again. Or you'll regret it."
The Saiyan then left; the Namekian staring after him in utter confusion. He smirked and checked the scouter again. The power level was stationary. You're mine now, Kakarot! Prepare yourself! The Saiyan thought, with a smirk. He flew over a vast ocean, and for the first time; actually savored in the feeling of the breeze through his long, spiky hair. That never happened. On other planets, the breeze would carry horrendous odors that made even the strongest Saiyan cough, but this air... was clean.
Finally, he approached the power level. He looked down below, and saw many bi-pedal beings staring up at him with alarm and confusion. The Saiyan scanned the group for Kakarot and easily spotted him. He would recognize his father's crazy hairdo anywhere. But where was his tail? The Saiyan was instantly alarmed as he realized this new development. He then noticed a little boy with a tail behind Kakarot.
The Saiyan landed on the island and said, "It took me a while, but I finally found you, Kakarot."
"Kakarot? Who's that?" Kakarot asked, and the taller Saiyan was baffled
"You mean, you don't remember?! You'reKakarot! What happened to you?! And where's your tail?! You know as well as I do, that that's the key to unlocking your true potential!" the Saiyan snapped.
"True potential?! What are you talking about?" Kakarot snapped. "I'm Goku! You've got the wrong person."
One of the earthlings stepped forward. "Yeah, so shoo! Shoo!" He sneered, flapping his hands dismissively.
The Saiyan felt his rising anger spike, and whipped the earthling across the face with his tail. He watched with satisfaction as the bald earthling went through the flimsy wall of the pink house. The earthlings glared at them, then shock went over their faces as they noticed the Saiyan's tail. Kakarot's eyes widened with shock and he glared at the man.
"I don't know who you are or where you came from. Leave now," Kakarot said, anger burning in his eyes.
"Er... Kakarot, tell me, did you ever hit your head as a child?" the Saiyan asked.
An elderly man stepped forward and said, "I was waiting to tell you this, Goku. But when you were younger, you didn't care how much your grandfather cared for you. You would attack him every time he tried to help you. But one day, there was a dangerous accident and you fell down a deep ravine. You hit your head and Gohan feared the worst. But remarkably, you recovered and you were a sweet and caring boy after that."
"Well, I didn't come here for a history lesson, but, your name is Kakarot. You are part of a dead warrior race known as the Saiyans. We were efficient in our work of killing all the life on planets and then selling them to buyers for profit. I am Raditz, and I am your brother," Raditz said. Disbelief was on everyone's faces. "I camefor you Kakarot. We have a job that three of us can't do alone. Then I remembered you existed, what do you say?"
"Why would I join a gang of space pirates like you?! No way!" Kakarot refused.
"Then you leave me no choice. That child, he's a half breed right? Then he must have some fighting spirit. I'll take him instead," Raditz said.
"What?! No!" Kakarot shouted, charging towards Raditz.
Raditz glared at Kakarot and kneed him in the gut. He sent his brother flying. As he landed, sand flew up from the impact, and Kakarot groaned in pain.
"Daddy!" the child shouted, Raditz grabbed the little half-breed and glared at Kakarot.
"You can have him back if you kill at least one hundred earthlings. I'll be back tomorrow for a head count. Is that enough for your feeble mind? Or do I need to spell it out for you?" Raditz spat, Kakarot only looked up at him in a twisted visage that fluctuated between agony and anger.
He then flew away, leaving the people to stare after him in shock. He didn't even look back, though he felt a strange feeling of guilt. He hadn't wanted it to come to this. Then again, he was disappointed in his brother. The child was crying below him, bawling loudly. Raditz tried to ignore, him but it was almost impossible. Finally they made it to a wasteland, and Raditz dropped the child. Though, there was still a nagging thought troubling him.
Why would his brother have befriended the earthlings? It was something that he would have to find out later, for now he needed to be careful. If anything, he knew that his brother would try to get his son back. Raditz ignored the child's wailing and looked around for a sign of Kakarot or the green man. To his relief, they hadn't showed up yet. He was about to sit down and talk to the child, when his scouter went off.
"What?! That can't possibly be Kakarot! There's no way!" Raditz said, shocked. He looked up and saw Kakarot and the Namekian flying towards him. Kakarot had a worried look on his face. It was overcome with relief when he saw that his child was okay. Once Kakarot had jumped off what looked like a floating yellow cloud, he glared at Raditz with an angry expression. "K - Kakarot, what are you doing here?"
"I'm here for my son. You claim to be my brother, but one thing's for sure. You're no brother of mine," Kakarot said, his eyes narrowed spitefully.
"If you want him back, you'll have to fight me first. And we both know you're too weak to beat me," Raditz said, with a cocky laugh that concealed how nervous he truly was.
"Fine, it'll at the very least be something to do with my spare time," the Namekian said, taking off his turban and cape. Raditz's eyes widened as his power level rose. Kakarot took off his weighted shirt, and his power level rose as well. "Let's get this over with."
Raditz powered up and charged at them. The Namekian and Kakarot came behind him, but Raditz easily dodged and gave them both a hard punch to the stomach. The two of them coughed, and recoiled backwards. They rushed him, and Raditz easily dodged, firing an energy blast this time. Kakarot dodged, but the energy blast hit the Namekian's arm, cleanly chopping it off. Raditz hid the fact that the gruesome sight made him terrified.
Raditz had never hurt someone to that extent. That's why Vegeta and Nappa always made fun of him. He always tried to kill people quickly; rather than have them die in agony, while Vegeta and Nappa would try to make it as painful as possible. Raditz barely had time to react as Kakarot flew at him, a desperate look in his eyes. Raditz sighed in resignation, and kicked Kakarot in the face. His brother gasped, and fell to the ground with a heavy thud.
He bounced back and continued to attack Raditz, with the larger Saiyan dodging each blow with ease. Raditz felt Kakarot grab his tail, and shuddered in agony. He struggled, but couldn't maneuver out of his brother's grip. Raditz used all of his strength, and kicked Kakarot's knee. His brother's leg buckled underneath him, and he at last let Raditz go, just as a strong energy blast flew past him and destroyed the mountain behind them. Raditz was surprised, and terrified but, he knew what he had to do.
He narrowed his eyes, focusing intently, and tripped his brother Kakarot. Once he fell onto his back, Raditz stomped on his chest. His brother screamed in agony to no end, as Raditz stomped repeatedly on his, chest harder and harder. Pain was visible in his brother's tear-filled eyes, and Raditz felt his brother's ribs break under the pressure of his foot. This was the first time Raditz had caused anyone this amount of pain. Suddenly his scouter picked up a higher power level.
He followed it, and was shocked to see Kakarot's son flying at him with incredible speed. He couldn't even begin to dodge as the child hit him, dead-on like a torpedo to the sternum. Raditz cried out in pain, and touched the air near his injured chest. Kakarot looked just as surprised as Raditz by Gohan's power.
"Gohan, what was that?" Kakarot asked, shock evident in his eyes.
"I - I don't know," Gohan replied, tears streaming down his face.
"Yes, kid, what the hell was that?" Raditz asked, walking up to them.
Gohan and Kakarot's eyes widened with terror. Raditz felt fury well up inside of him and he slapped Gohan halfway across the wasteland. Raditz had well enough. He was done with this silly little world. He would kill Gohan and Kakarot along with the life on the planet, and then get out of there. Before he could advance on Gohan and kill him however, Kakarot jumped on Raditz and held him back.
Raditz felt fury well up inside of him again, and he struggled fiercely to get out of his brother's grip. Kakarot and the Namekian exchanged a silent signal and then a powerful energy blast was fired. Thinking fast, Raditz shoved Kakarot off of him and got out of the way. Before he could process what had just happened, Kakarot fell to the ground, dying. Raditz was horrified. Horror was on Kakarot's face as blood bubbled at his lips.
Raditz slowly walked up to him and looked down at him. Kakarot looked to be in extreme pain, and his chest heaved with each breath. Raditz felt an odd sensation of grief go through him as he watched his brother, suffering like this.
"Kakarot, I'm sorry it had to end this way," Raditz said.
Kakarot's breath shuddered in his chest one last time, and his eyes closed. Raditz watched in horror as his brother died, right in front of him. He fled in horror before the Namekian realized what was happening. He fled for the mountains. He would stay there and regroup. He needed to understand what was going on. Raditz closed his eyes and fell asleep. He would have a long day tomorrow.
