Today was the day.
I have delayed it long enough.
They were going to find me. I was going able to see the love of my life again. My Eve.
They were going to come in, bursting through the gym doors in the middle of the Thursday assembly. I knew how it was going to happen. They would be wearing their official SWAT PAW gear. It was just a black hoodie and jeans with there logo on them.
By this point, you're probably wondering how I know.
I just did.
Oh, where are my manners?
I'm Kayden Conner, a student at a nice public school in Atlanta.
Well... not exactly.
I'm actually Marshall of the PAW Patrol.
The night after I finally worked up the courage to ask Everest out, I knew I had to leave that night. I came here, somehow received a human form. I had toned muscles, dirty blond hair that cane swooping in front of my face, and eyes that always changed between blue, green, and gray. I chose a generally well off family and started there. Somehow, they had memories of me... so that worked. They were a different color every time you looked.
I dressed in the usual. Joggers and a hoodie. Nothing to attract attention. That was my whole goal here. Stay average in everything.
As usual, homeroom was boring.
Assembly started with the lines from or head of school:
"Today, we have some special guest. They have been looking all around the world for their lost friend and came to tell you about the act of perseverance."
They burst through the doors, per expected.
We started with a moment of silence for their 'lost' friend.
They talked about how you should follow your dreams, blah blah blah. You know, the cliché speech. Geez, they all got so sappy. Even Eve and Ryder.
Until the end.
I snuck out of my homeroom's assigned seating area and stood beside the stage. Eve was speaking about how great of a friend I was. Huh, not her boyfriend yet...
As soon as she ended it with 'I hope we find him soon' and clapping, I delivered the ultimate hype line.
"Oh, you will."
Everyone was silent.
"MARSHALL!"
