Chapter 8: Raditz in Hell

Raditz sighed, feeling a foreboding sense of dread as he arrived at King Yemma's palace. The mighty, red ogre leaned down and glared at Raditz, causing the young Saiyan to take a small step back.

"Raditz, you have cheated death for the last time, I see," King Yemma said. He looked Raditz dead in the eyes; causing the Saiyan to shift uncomfortably.

"It has been decided that you will be sent to Hell for your previous genocides on multiple planets."

I had that one coming for a long time,Raditz thought, sadly. He nodded and followed the ogres to the plane for those going to Hell. He was among a bunch of people he didn't know, but he didn't care, he just sat down and looked out the window. He had to admit, he sort of envied those going to Heaven.

"What did you do to end up down here?" a voice whispered in Raditz's ear, causing the Saiyan to jump slightly. He looked at the person, and saw a beautiful woman with black hair, blue eyes, dark skin and a beautiful silver dress. "Well?"

"Oh, me? I committed mass genocide all over the universe and not only that, but I have cheated death many times. I let my own brother get killed, which ultimately made him stronger. And now I'm here, dead and going to Hell. I deserve it," Raditz replied, looking down at his hands. "What about you?"

"I stole a lot of things and killed someone who tried to stop me. I was shot, that's how I died. Well, the officer didn't mean to shoot, the battle against the aliens shook the planet so hard that he accidentally pulled the trigger. Honestly, I think he did it on purpose," she said, sighing. "How did you die?"

"Let's just say the aliens got me," Raditz replied. The woman's eyes widened in shock. "Anyway, what's your name?"

"I'm Ladsa. What's your name?" she replied.

"Raditz, my name is Raditz. My brother's name is Goku," Raditz replied. Ladsa's eyes widened with shock. Raditz was confused. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong! So you're the brother of The Son Goku?!" Ladsa asked, excitedly. Raditz shrugged, and nodded back in confirmation. Ladsa looked like she was about to burst with her excitement.

"How come you never went to tournaments with him? He won second place almost every time. But, he put on pretty awesome shows of power. He was only twelve when he almost defeated the former champion, Jackie Chun."

Raditz sighed, and looked out the window. They were very close to Hell. Raditz took a deep breath, he felt Ladsa shift as she also tried to get a good look of what they were in for. Raditz watched as the clouds parted and they landed at a very small airport. It didn't look that bad to Raditz, everyone seemed to be content. Ladsa sighed with relief when they landed. A blue ogre boarded the plane with a list of names.

"Listen up, all of you, when I call your name, you will receive a number. That is the name you will go by until further notice. If you must, you may say your name, but you will answer to it when called on," the ogre instructed. After fifty names, the ogre looked to Ladsa and Raditz. "Ladsa, number one million. Raditz, number one million and one."

Raditz sighed as they were led off the aircraft. This was going to be a long day.

A while later, he was finally called again by his new name, after a very long roll call.

"Number one million and one, here is your home. I hope you find it comfortable," an ogre said, pointing to a small cave.

Raditz nodded, and entered. He was immediately met with a familiar young woman and a man who looked like Goku. Raditz knew exactly who they were. They were Bardock and Gine, his parents. Tears welled up in his eyes as he recognized them.

"We weren't expecting any visitors today," Bardock said, stepping forward. "Who's there?"

"Bardock, look at him closely," Gine said, tears welling in her eyes. She walked up to Raditz and gently touched his face. "Raditz, is that you?"

"Yes, Mother, it's me," Raditz said softly.

Tears immediately started streaming down her face, and she pulled Raditz into a tight hug. Raditz was surprised when he felt tears of his own welling in his eyes. An unusual, happy look was on Bardock's face. Gine smiled and gently kissed Raditz on his cheek. The young Saiyan had hid how much he missed his parents for so long, that it was only now coming out. Bardock joined in the hug and ruffled Raditz's hair, causing the younger Saiyan to laugh.

"I'm very disappointed in you, dying like that. But, I'm also happy that you're here," Bardock said, while Gine bit her lip.

Raditz's eyes widened with shock. "Wait, you're happy that I ended up in Hell?! What's that supposed to mean?! Does that mean that you knew I was a bad kid from the start?!"

"I didn't mean it like that. I meant I'm happy to see you again. I never expected you to be down here, though. Your brother, Kakarot didn't make a trip down here. From what I heard, I believe he was training with King Kai, which is a huge honor. Tell me, how well did you fare against Nappa?" Bardock asked.

"I fared pretty well, actually. Until that bastard Vegeta decided to kill me. At least I was able to pull through, until Kakarot arrived. I have a feeling that he had the power to defeat Vegeta. I'm sure that it was done," Raditz said.

"Number one million and one, I have some news about the battle with Vegeta and Goku," an ogre said.

"What happened? Has Kakarot won the battle?" Raditz asked.

"I guess you could call it a draw. But the prince has retreated. Kakarot is currently in the hospital, suffering many broken bones. And, he possibly suffered a concession from hitting his head. They're saying Goku could be in the hospital for about three months. Nappa is still alive, but Chiaotzu is dead. Everyone else is fine," the ogre said before walking away.

Raditz sat down on the cold stone floor, deep in thought. So, Kakarot won and he lost? Wait, how does that work? Vegeta always makes sure that he does his work thoroughly. Does that mean that someone else defeated him? So many questions that haven't been answered. It feels like the world is spinning, Raditz thought.

"Raditz? Raditz! Get back to the real world, idiot!" Bardock's irritated voice snapped at him, bringing Raditz back to the real world. "You dare call yourself a Saiyan when you space out like that?! Shameful!"

Raditz ignored him and walked over to Gine. "I've missed you too, Dad. Anyway, Mother, how have you been?" Raditz said, giving his mother a hug.

"I've been good, tired though, having to deal with his grumpiness. Speaking of, Bardock, that is no way to speak to your son! Come over here and apologize! Saiyan or not, we shouldn't say things like that to our children!" Gine snapped at Bardock. Raditz's father looked like he was going to start arguing, but Gine gave him a hard glare. "Apologize now, you big oaf!"

"Fine, I'm sorry for talking to you like that, Raditz. Spacing out just isn't something that real Saiyans do," Bardock said, sitting on a rock.

"Bardock," Gine said, grabbing out a kitchen knife. Bardock's face instantly changed to disbelief.

"Apologize correctly right now, Bardock!"

"F - Fine, dammit woman, stop pointing that knife at me. Raditz, I'm sorry that I talked to you like that. I never should have said that," Bardock said, eyeing the knife with bloodshot eyes.

"Good," Gine said, putting the knife down.

"It's fine, Father, I'm sure that you didn't mean a word," Raditz said, rolling his eyes.

Bardock flipped Raditz off and laid down on a small cot. Gine snorted with annoyance, and began cooking for them. Raditz sat on a rock and watched as Gine cooked. He used to do this all the time when he was younger. It brought him a sense of security that only Gine could give him. It was a sense of peace. He smiled to himself as Gine began humming a familiar tune. She looked back at Raditz and gave him that soft smile of hers.

"I've missed this so much. It brings such a strange sense of calm," Raditz said, swaying along to the beat of long forgotten melody.

Meanwhile, at the hospital where Goku was recovering; the other Z Fighters glared at Nappa with anxious uncertainty. Goku grunted painfully as he tried to look up and see what was going on with Nappa. He didn't look to be the least bit phased by the hateful way that the Z Fighters were looking at him. Goku didn't know how he could just ignore it. He guessed that maybe the older Saiyan was just used to people glaring at him. Goku smiled at the other Saiyan. Nappa smiled back and waved at him.

"Goku, how can you trust him?" Tien asked.

"That's like asking Piccolo and Gohan why they trust Raditz. I'm certain that he has good in him, trust me on this one," Goku said.

"If you say so, Goku," Tien said, casting a suspicious glance at Nappa.
