Piper calls her Dad the next day and asks him to meet with Alex and herself ASAP. They talk about her trip and the cities and station, even a little about housing.
"So what does this all mean Princess?"
"It means me and Alex are moving to Memphis. I'd accepting the midday slot at the Hot AC station in a cluster of stations. The PD wants me there as soon as possible. So I guess I need you and Alex to figure what day that would be possible. I really would like to be there in a week, even if that means us staying in a hotel until we can settle in."
"We also need to find out how soon we can move into the house we like. And I need to talk to the team. Are they obligated to move or is it there choice?"
"Alex, I usually demand, but I can't recall the last time a move has required such quickness. So I can go either way on this one. Do you have a preference?"
"Pipes? What are you feeling?"
"Alex, I say we ask. After the attack I'm not feeling as great about them. But I also don't want to go through the process again to find you three teammates. If anyone chooses to leave, do you think you can find a capable candidate under the age of 30. I feel like the older ones are so ingrained at looking to my Dad instead of you and me."
"Bill I wanna call the team up here so they understand what we're discussing."
"That's probably a good idea Alex. Go ahead and get them up here."
After offering food and drink they get right down to business. Bill decided to take the lead. "Team, I have some information to share along with Alex and Piper. My daughter has been offered the job she interviewed for in Memphis. Usually there's at least a month's notice when a client moves. That is not possible in this case. If you choose to stay with this team, you'll be given four hundred to go towards whatever living situation you select there. I will also cover a rental truck so you can relocate your things."
"Guys I want you to give you the choice of choosing if you want to transplant states with me and Pipes. Take an hour or two when you go back to your posts, to decide what you want. I really need to know if I need to find any new crew members, should any of you choose to leave."
"Team, as Alex just alluded to time is crucial. They want Piper there ASAP. Her and Alex might even have to leave earlier than they have things together for the move. In which case I might later have to swap out a different security member to allow one member to tend to getting their things moved. And swap out until everyone is transplanted in the new city."
"Guys, if anyone already knows what they want, you can tell us now." Chase and Colton both voiced positives. Bradley said he needed to make some calls. "You're all dismissed."
"Dad, Al, what is a realistic request to tell my new PD when I call tomorrow?"
"Pipes I'd say a week minimum to start getting everything ready to be shipped. My Mom and Cal would probably help if we ask."
"I like that idea Al."
"Princess you said you found a house you like. Do you have or can you get me the listing and the real estate agent's number please."
Piper called her PD the next week. He was happy to have her in house in a week. She told him that she was gonna change her last name to Vause, to prevent association to her maiden name, and asked that the staff not know that detail. Piper and Alex got the apartment packed up and had suitcases ready to go for Saturday. Diane and Cal were in charge of getting the rental truck packed for when they could move into their new house. Over the first month Piper made quite an impression, her PD called her into a meeting.
"You wanted to see me sir?"
"Yes, I wanted to congratulate you for jumping right in and fitting so well at our station."
"Thank you sir."
"How many times have I said to call me Jesse, I'm really not that formal. Anyways me and the advertising department have been doing some number crunching and research and have discovered that you've blown away some of our records."
Alex speaks up "Really?"
"Yes Alex, Piper has managed to best every new dj's popularity numbers in the last ten years. As well as being the most requested for commercial reads and remote requests."
"Congratulations babe" Alex says with a hug.
"Wow, what does this mean exactly?"
"Piper, I'd like you to start doing some remotes. I usually wait longer before sending a dj out, but I think I really need to get you out in public." He then explains everything involved in a remote to the both of them. "I'll check with advertising and promotions and see when we can get you set-up for one."
Piper and Alex were really enjoying their new city and home. Piper's work was wonderful. The team gelled well and were at the top of their game. They work care of all the outside work and repairing the things they could. The guys loved all the women that came up to them. Alex was cool with it as long as it didn't compromise their keeping an eye out for threats.
One summer afternoon Piper is running around like crazy. Alex hasn't seen her like this in ages. "Pipes, babe what's up. You're super restless today."
"I'm fine Al. Just getting some things ready before I start cooking for us tonight. You and the guys can work on that backyard project you were telling me about. I promise I'm fine my love."
"Okay just let me know if you need anything." Alex kisses her then goes outside.
Piper makes dinner, lights candles, and makes sure to stuff her recent purchase into her pocket. Alex is blown away by the effort Piper has put into this night.
"This is really good babe. Seriously one of your best dishes."
"Thanks Al. A year ago today I saw you in training for the first time. I had watched your brief video and was intrigued. Seeing you in exercises was amazing. By the day I was to be the asset in the exercises, you were already on my short list. I loved interacting with you and was highly impressed by how you handled every exercise. Who knew when I finally picked my team, just how much richer my life would become. It's no secret that I wanted long before you were ready to give in and truly be in a relationship with me. You are gorgeous inside and out. I couldn't have imagined meeting someone so utterly perfect for me in every way. My love for you has grown exponentially for you over this past year and I can't wait to spend countless more with you. Alex will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" Piper digs out the ring she carefully picked out for Alex.
Tears are running down Alex's eyes. "Yes, yes, a million times yes. Pipes you are my everything."
"Same here my love." Piper slides the ring onto Alex's finger with the biggest smile ever."
"How did you pull this off babe? I had no clue you were planning anything."
"Well a co-worker helped me get a few things. And I ordered the ring online and it was just as stunning as I thought it would be. How's the fit Al?"
"Perfect. Pipes can I call my Mom with the big news. She is going to so incredibly happy."
"Sure Al. Put her on speaker, I'd love to hear the conversation."
"Of course babe." Alex dials her Mom. "Hey Mom."
"Hey baby. It's so good to hear your voice. What all is going on with you and Piper?"
"We're both excellent Mom. I've got some news."
"Good news I hope."
"Yes Mom. Me and Pipes just finished dinner. She cooked and amazing meal and afterwards she proposed."
"Oh my gosh that is so exciting. Please tell me you said yes Alex."
"I did. Tears streaming down my cheeks at the amazing mind-blowing perfection of my Pipes."
"Let me talk to her Alex."
"Your on speaker Mom."
"Okay. Piper sweetie welcome to the family officially this time. Are you gonna keep your maiden name or change it?"
"Change it of course. Since I met Alex and you Diane, I've wanted to be a Vause. Did Alex not tell you that I've been using Piper Vause on-air ever since we moved."
"You are. Wow. I'm so proud of your success Piper. Alex has been telling me bits and pieces all along."
"Mom your long overdue for a visit. Come check out our new life. We're quite happy."
They made a similar call to Cal and decided not to tell Bill just yet. Alex spent the rest of the night showing reverence to every part of Piper. After a few rounds, Piper won her plea to reciprocate. They lost count of how many orgasms they gave each other. They just knew they were feeling more insatiable then ever. Once exhausted they curled up in each other.
A couple weeks later they decided to finally talk to Bill. "Hi Daddy!"
"Hey Princess, what can I help you with?"
"Daddy I proposed to Alex and she said yes."
"You what?"
"I asked Alex to marry me."
"Why would you do such a thing?"
"Because I've loved her since shortly after I met her. Daddy you like Alex, you know how amazing she is to me."
"I like her as your security not your potential mate. How long has this been going on."
"For nearly a year. I came onto her and although she liked me she kept pushing me off. Little by little she'd let me physically closer. It took awhile and was driving me crazy. When we finally got physical it was beyond amazing. No one has ever treated me as wonderfully as Alex. No one has ever cared so much for me. I'm marrying her Dad."
"No your not. I'll fire her tomorrow."
"Hell no. You fire Alex and I'll dump all security. I am marrying the love of my life. There is nothing you can do about it. I hate how close minded you're being. If this is how you want to act, then consider me no longer your daughter."
"You can't be serious."
"I've never been more sure about anything in my entire life. So what's your call."
"Damn you for putting me in this position. sighs I don't like this one bit."
"Well decide if you want me in your life or not, because my life is Alex and always will be."
"Of course I want you in my life and to have security. I'm not thrilled that someone I employ took advantage of my girl."
"She did NOT take advantage of me. If anything the opposite is true. Cal and Diane are both thrilled that I proposed. They love me and Alex. If you don't that's your problem not mine. You will not disrespect my fiance or make her work life tough. If you do, consider yourself cut off."
"Fine. But don't expect a big wedding."
"I wouldn't want one anyways, just the people I love, the team, and a few co-workers. Doesn't even matter if it's just in front of a justice of the peace. All I need is Alex."
"Let me know when you choose a date or start buying things. I'm gonna need some time to think about how involved I want to be.
Alex walks in the house and sees her fiance crying, her own heart nearly breaks. "Pipes, babe what's the matter?"
"I just talked to my Dad, it was not a pleasant talk. I was totally blindsided by how close-minded he was being. He wanted to fire you. I gave him an ultimatum, that if anything happened to you, I would refuse security, marry you and he'd be out of my life completely. He finally relented but was pissed about it."
"Oh Babe I'm so sorry. I could find another job. I'd hate not being around you 24/7, but I could do that. I just want you Pipes."
"And I want you Al, you're my future wife."
"I know but I never meant to make your life harder."
"Your not Al. He's the one in the wrong. Loosing me would severely wound him. But I'll be damned if I let anyone but us control our lives. It's hard for me to wrap my head around. I mean he likes you Alex but flipped out when I told him I proposed. Is he really that clueless after all the time we've spent together?"
"I don't know babe. I've never gotten any homophobic vibes from him, but apparently just like your other parent, he had a specific picture in his mind for you."
"That is his problem not ours. If he comes around great, if not its his loss. So when do we want to get married Al?"
"Whenever you want babe."
"I don't care when Al. I want a small ceremony with people we care about and the few friends we've made here. But I'd rather we don't wait too long. I do desperately want to be a Vause."
"I can't wait for you to be an official Vause either." Alex leans in to kiss her beloved Pipes."
