Under the arches
POV Lila's
We're hanging out under the arches. Ulrich has his sleeve rolled up, he checks his watch. Mary is probably somewhere on campus hanging out with Emily. They've become such good friends lately.
"Hey, Odd and Sissi oughta be here already," Ulrich says, and looks in the other direction. "We were supposed to play foosball."
Yumi crosses her arms. "You know those two, they're probably on a date."
"That's true. They've been going on a lot of dates lately," William mentions.
"If I know Odd, he's probably hiding somewhere because he knows I'll beat him," Ulrich says.
"Or we'll beat you," William says.
"Doubt it," Ulrich says.
"There they are," Aelita says. I look to see Odd is sitting next to Sissi on a bench.
"Guess you were right, Yumi," I say.
"Told you, Ulrich," Yumi says.
Ulrich nods. "Yup, you did."
Afterwards
Rec Room
We're in the rec room now. Ulrich is watching two students play ping pong while holding his drink he got from one of the vending machines. He sips it. William is sitting next to him. I'm sitting next to Aelita on a comfortable box, just like she is. Yumi is sitting on a couch across from Ulrich and William. I spot Odd and Sissi walking into the rec room, they walk over to us. Odd sits down next to Yumi on the couch and Sissi sits down next to Odd. Yumi takes a sip of her drink. Odd puts his hands behind his head in a relaxed manner and puts his feet on the table.
"Ah, you know, that was a really great date, Sissi. Life isn't bad at all," Odd says.
"It sure isn't," Sissi agrees.
"You two seem to be going out more and more lately," William mentions.
"Yeah, I noticed that too," I say.
"We try to make time for dates," Sissi tells us. "As a matter of fact, we're going on another one this afternoon. We're going to the movies."
"You are?" Aelita asks, holding her drink. I didn't really bother getting one.
"To see what? Wheelchair Zombie Four or Snorkeling Combat Two?" Ulrich asks.
"No way. Those days are over. We're going to see something really romantic and intellectual. Right, Sissi?" Odd asks her.
"Yeah, the picture is called The Petals of Disaster," Sissi replies. Aelita, Yumi, Ulrich, and William can't help but laugh at that. I'm not really sure what kind of movie it is, but it sounds like a cheesy romance.
"The problem with you guys is that you have no sense of romance and intellect," Odd retorts.
"Speaking of intellect, has anyone seen Jeremy?" Ulrich asks.
"Yeah, where is he?" I ask.
"Oh, he went back to his room. I think he's got a few big problems," Aelita replies.
In Jeremy's room
Jeremy is sitting on his chair, turned away from his computer which is on. Mary is with us, still posing as Mia since we're in the dorm. Ulrich and Yumi are sitting on the bed. Sissi is too. Odd is sitting crossed legged on the floor, same goes for William. Aelita is leaning against one of the book shelves and I'm standing next to Mary.
"The only problem I have is our 'friend' Xana," Jeremy says, his arms crossed. He turns his chair a bit.
"Do you remember the last few times he attacked?" he asks.
"Which time? The one with the trees or the swimming pool?" Odd asks. I raise my eyebrow.
"Odd, we agreed not to bring up that day at the pool right?" Ulrich asks.
"Why? What happened at the swimming pool, huh?" Aelita asks, surprised too.
"Nothing," Ulrich replies quickly.
"Nothing at all," Yumi agrees. I swear I can see both of them blushing. What exactly happened with them?
"Whatever. I meant all of the attacks Xana has launched recently, okay. Haven't you noticed what the target has been?" Jeremy asks.
"Well, us," William replies.
"Yes, but especially Aelita and me. It just so happens that, besides Mary and Lila, who Xana hasn't attacked in a while, we're the only ones who can use the supercomputer," Jeremy explains.
"It is weird that Xana hasn't attacked the two of us in a while. Then again, I don't know if we're considered a threat to Xana anymore," I say.
"Make no mistake, Lila. Xana will always consider us a threat," Mary tells me.
"Look, even if that's the case, Mary, we've all used the supercomputer before," Ulrich reminds Jeremy.
"While following instructions on the phone," Jeremy says, and gets up from his chair. "But what would happen if we weren't around to give you guys any help?"
Jeremy walks a bit closer to them. "Xana wins hands down," he continues walking past them. He's facing the door, holding his hands together.
"Which is why I'm going to give you a crash course on the supercomputer, this afternoon," Jeremy says.
"What? No way, count us out. Odd and I are going to the movies," Sissi says.
Yumi crosses her arms. "William and I have a test to study for."
"Yeah, I need to keep my grades up," William says.
"And I've got PenCak Silat practice," Ulrich adds.
He turns to us and puts his hands in his pockets. "If you guys think you have better things to do, then I can't force you to come. But Xana isn't going to be taking a break."
"You know, some days it isn't easy being heroes," Yumi says. Jeremy walks over to his computer and reaches it.
"Yeah, that's true," I agree, since I need to be with Aelita this afternoon.
Jeremy turns to us. "Then listen, we'll meet up in the computer lab after lunch, and if you pick it up quickly, it'll be over in a couple of hours. Okay?"
"Okay," Odd says. He and Sissi get up, so do the others. Mary nods and they leave the room one by one. Mary is the last one to leave, so she closes the door. I walk over to Aelita.
Jeremy sits down on his chair. He turns it to his keyboard and starts typing. I look at Aelita, she looks at me, and I nod.
"Uh… Jeremy, Lila and I can't make it this afternoon," Aelita tells him.
"Huh? Why not?" Jeremy asks us.
"I've got my audition for the Subdigitals. You know, today is the final round of tryouts," Aelita explains.
"I would like to be there for her too," I explain.
Jeremy puts his hands up. "But that's impossible, what if something happens to me while you two are gone?"
"There's Mary," I reply, "she'll be nearby, you could call her for help."
"I know but-" he starts to say, but Aelita interrupts him.
"Besides, while you're teaching everyone how to run the supercomputer, we'll keep our phones on. If Xana attacks, we'll be back in no time," Aelita says.
Jeremy puts his finger on his chin, "Okay, maybe you're right. I worry too much," he turns back towards the computer.
"Go ahead, I can manage without the two of you," he says and starts typing on the keyboard.
"Thanks, Jeremy," Aelita says. To my surprise she leans in and kisses Jeremy on the cheek. He smiles and blushes.
We start walking out of the room. I open the door, letting Aelita leave first, and then close the door behind me.
"Don't tell the others I did that," Aelita says. "You know how Odd and William like to tease."
"I know, don't worry," I say.
That afternoon
Inside the lab
POV Sissi's
We're inside the lab, Jeremy's messenger bag is on his chair. He takes out pages upon pages of handwritten notes.
"To start off, we're going to go through a little bit of a theory," he says. "I've printed you a small list of basic functions to prepare you–" he hands out his notes one by one. We take them. I look at them. They look really… confusing.
"Hey, wait a minute Einstein. Wouldn't it be easier if we just went straight to the practical side? You tell us what button to push and presto, huh?" Odd asks.
"I like that idea better, to be honest," William agrees.
"Odd, William, working the supercomputer isn't like fooling around on a game console. Before I can trust all of you with the controls, I want to be sure you know this thing inside out," Jeremy says, putting his hands on his hips.
We continue looking at his notes, utterly confused. Jeremy sits down on his chair and puts his hands behind his head, then crosses one leg over the other, in a relaxed manner.
"Will you relax? You'll see guys, the theoretical stuff is actually a lot of fun," Jeremy claims.
"Right, it's going to be a million laughs," Ulrich says, sarcastically.
I just hope Aelita and Lila are having fun, I think.
With Lila and Aelita
Outside a recording studio
POV Lila's
Aelita brought her bag along and I decided to do the same. The walk wasn't too bad. Aelita looks at the paper and then at the recording studio.
"This is it. You ready Aelita?" I asks..
Aelita nods. "I am," she answers. "Eyes on the prize."
We walk towards the entrance of the building and I open the door for Aelita. We walk inside, the door closing behind us.
Inside the studio
The first person to welcome us is Chris.
"Aelita, Lila, hello. I'm glad the both of you could make it," Chris says. He puts his hand on Aelita's back, bringing us to meet the rest of the band.
"Let me introduce you two to everyone. You already know Nick and Ben, my partners." Nick and Ben nod… I gotta thank Aelita for bringing me here. It's cool to see the band in person.
"Sophie, who holds this whole thing together," Chris continues.
"Hello Aelita, Lila," Sophie greets, her orange hair and glasses are familiar to me. Chris motions to a man sitting on the other side of the glass.
"And then that big bear in the cage is Simon, our sound engineer," Chris finishes. Simon salutes us from the booth.
"This is Mattie and Louise, who are the other contestants for our final audition," Chris says, gesturing Aelita over to them.
"Hi," Aelita greets.
Louise, a girl with dyed green hair, looks at me and asks Chris:
"Is she going to participate too?"
"No, she'll just be watching," Chris replies.
Inside the lab
POV Sissi's
We're tired from Jeremy's lecture. William is very obviously nodding off. Odd has his head buried in his hands. I think he's actually asleep because I can hear him snoring.
"And so, if we export the virtual memory from the b-block into the inertial matrix, you can reconfigure the transfer files," Jeremy continues. "This will let you delay the alignment of the quantum tubes. I'm sure you see where I'm going with this. Any questions?"
Ulrich lifts his finger. "Yeah, I got one. How do you expect us to remember all of this blah, blah junk?" he asks, holding the notes in his other hand.
"If you guys were a little more attentive, you would be able to understand it," Jeremy says.
"Well… at least I'm not asleep," I say.
"And Ulrich's right, Jeremy. Stop trying to teach us everything you know. Just show us how to do some practical stuff, like materializing us on Lyoko, or programming up vehicles," Yumi suggests.
Jeremy looks a bit frustrated but then looks at the computer. "Okay, fine, I guess we might as well get to the practical end."
Odd wakes up and William catches himself before he falls asleep.
"Are we there yet?" they ask in unison. Lila was right… they definitely could be twins.
POV Lila's
I'm sitting on the couch while Mattie is finishing up his turn. The black haired bespectacled boy is decent. I'm confident Aelita will win, though.
Chris and the others are in the booth. We listen to Mattie finish up his set. Once he's done, he takes the headset off.
"Okay, Mattie, nice one," Chris compliments. Mattie puts the headphones down.
Inside the lab
POV Sissi's
Odd and William are in the scanner room. Ulrich is on Jeremy's chair, he's wearing the headset earpiece. The mic part has already been adjusted.
"Make sure you hit the right button. I'm ready, Ulrich, but I don't want to end up there with four arms and three legs!" Odd exclaims.
"Sissi, I'm counting on you not to mess it up either," William says.
"Thanks for the load of confidence," I exasperate.
"Um, okay, um... tran-transfer Odd. Is that right?" Ulrich asks Jeremy. He nods and Ulrich types in the command keys.
"Transfer: Odd," Ulrich says, and presses the enter key. A window popped up, showing Odd's digital form being scanned.
"Scanner: Odd, " Ulrich continues as Odd's picture starts loading. Then it blinks, meaning it's completed.
"And, uh… virtualization," Ulrich finishes. We hold our breath as Odd's Lyoko profile loads.
"Aah! You turned me into a garden gnome!" Odd screams.
"Aw no," Ulrich frets, nearly pressing another button the keyboard.
"Relax just kidding, everything is cool here," Odd says.
"Not so bad for a beginner, huh?" Ulrich asks.
"Yeah not bad. You were confused there for a second and almost hit the wrong button mister, 'I don't need any theory,'" Jeremy replies.
"Aw, you're never satisfied. Did I get him to Lyoko, yes or no?" Ulrich asks.
"Yes, because I was here with you, and you weren't even under the stress of a Xana attack," Jeremy answers.
A window pops up and an activated tower blinks. The alarm goes off, confirming its position.
"Give me my seat back," Jeremy tells Ulrich. Ulrich gets up and Jeremy sits back down. He starts typing on the keyboard.
"Activated tower, mountain sector. Head for the scanners, hurry up. William, you're going to need to wait just a bit," Jeremy says.
"Right," William says.
We hear something coming from the ceiling. Yumi and I gasp, seeing black smoke entering the lab, it forms into a caucasian government man.
"Leave him to me!" Ulrich exclaims. He runs at the spectre and jumps into the air to kick him, but the spectre catches him and pushes Ulrich against the floor.
Then he starts ripping up some cable?! They start sparking and Jeremy gets up from the chair.
"Hey!" Jeremy exclaims.
Before Yumi and I can react, the spectre attacks Jeremy with one of the cables, pushing him against the holosphere display case.
"Jeremy!" Yumi and I exclaim.
"No!" Jeremy exclaims.
The spectre electrocutes Jeremy with the cables and Jeremy collapses.
"Jeremy!" Yumi and I exclaim again.
We hear climbing coming up from the ladder shoot. Yumi and I get into a fighting stance, but it's William climbing up the ladder. The spectre takes advantage of this momentary confusion to make its escape, dissipating into smoke and going back through the ceiling.
"He disappeared," Yumi says. We group up with one another and Ulrich gets up, rubbing his head.
"But... why?" I ask.
POV Lila's
"Well, take our breath away, Aelita. It's all yours," Chris tells her.
Aelita gets up, holding onto her envelope.
"Good luck," I say.
"Thanks," Aelita says. She walks over to where Mattie was and sits down. She takes her demo out of the envelope and plugs it into the machine, then produces a pair of headphones I hadn't seen before and puts them on. She starts playing her techno music, her head nodding along with the music. I smile, getting the chance to see mom's music live and in person.
POV Sissi's
Yumi is listening to Jeremy's chest. We're all surrounding him.
"He's still breathing, but he took a lot of volts," Yumi informs.
A window pops up and then we hear:
"Uh, guys? Hey, remember me?" Odd asks.
Ulrich walks over to the computer and grabs the headset earpiece from the keyboard. He puts it on and adjusts the mic part.
"Odd, I think we're in a big jam. Xana sicced a polymorphing spectre on us and Einstein is out cold," Ulrich informs.
"Oh, well then it's a good thing he showed us how to work the supercomputer," Odd reminds him.
Ulrich sits down on Jeremy's chair. He turns to the keyboard.
"Ah, yeah, you're right. Does anybody have any idea what to do now?" he asks.
"Yes. Call Aelita and Lila," Yumi says. She takes her cell phone out and speed dials Aelita. She puts it to her ear and lets it ring for a few seconds. There doesn't seem to be an answer. She ends the call.
"No answer, I'll send her a message," Yumi says. She does so and then makes another call. She puts her phone to her ear, letting it ring.
"Come on Lila, answer," Yumi says. She lets it ring for a few seconds and sighs. She takes the phone away from her ear and then ends the call. She texts Lila.
"No answer from Lila, either," Yumi informs.
William and I look at Ulrich. He's reading Jeremy's notes.
"Okay, we'll just have to improvise. What do we do?" Odd asks.
"For openers, Odd, try and get to the mountain sector," Yumi replies.
"And stay safe," I add, feeling concern for my boyfriend all alone on Lyoko.
William, Yumi, and I walk over to Ulrich who has Jeremy notes in his hand.
"Yumi, Sissi, don't you think we should try to bring Odd back to Earth while we try to get into contact with Aelita and Lila?" Ulrich asks.
"That does seem like the safer plan," William agrees.
"Okay then, you know how to rematerialize him?" Yumi asks.
"Uh… no. Do you?" Ulrich asks.
"No sense arguing, guys. I'd rather stay here and fight. Just tell me where I can find a way tower," Odd replies.
Yumi bends down, looking at Jeremy's notes. I hope they don't make a mistake.
"Let's see, a way tower… Oh, I know! To find a way tower you have to bring up a radar window with these two keys," Yumi says, and presses two command keys. A window pops up with Odd's digital avatar. His head shifts to the right, detaching from his body.
"Hey, what are you doing? Get it right!" Odd exclaims.
"Hurry up and fix him!" I screech, concerned.
Yumi, Ulrich, and William gasp too.
"Stop it!" Ulrich exclaims.
Yumi presses the two command keys again and the head realigns itself, causing the window to disappear entirely. I sigh in relief.
"Thanks. Well then, plan B. Try to bring up my Overboard," Odd suggests. "Maybe I can find that stupid way tower on my own in the air."
Ulrich looks at Jeremy's notes again. He flips through the pages. "Overboard, Overboard. Darn it, Einstein's notes are all over the place."
"I think it's this one, here," Yumi points to a page.
"Speaking of which, any sign of spectre gadget?" Odd asks.
"No, he left in a hurry," I reply.
"Yeah, that's right he did. How come he left like that?" Yumi asks.
"I guess he had another date," Ulrich assumes.
Yumi gasps, making a realization. "Aelita, Lila!"
"The spectre must have gone after them. Sissi, with me. We need to warn them right away!" Yumi exclaims, we start running towards the freight elevator.
"Right, you two stay here! Please don't mess up again," I say.
"Hey, that wasn't us who messed up," William reminds me. Yumi and I get into the freight elevator, I push the red button to go up. The freight elevator's doors close and up we go.
POV Lila's
Aelita and I are running on the sidewalk. As much as we wanted to stay to find out if Aelita got the gig, we forgot to check our phones. Messages were left on them… and it doesn't sound too good. We're panting as we continue to run, passing through people. Then we see a caucasian government man with sunglasses. He phases in and out, great… it's a spectre!
Aelita turns and makes a run for it in a different direction. We do our best to get away from the spectre, but he continues to pursue us. We're about to cross the street, but then we hear Yumi scream, and the spectre is pushed onto the street.
"Nice one," Sissi compliments.
"That's for sure," I agree.
We group up and look at the spectre when a car drives through it, causing it to phase in and out. But it gets right back up.
"Let's move it!" Aelita exclaims.
"Right!" I exclaim, and we start running again.
Afterwards
We're still on the run, but Yumi's calling Ulrich. She puts the phone to her right ear, there's a short pause.
"Hang on, I got the expert with me. Here," Yumi says, handing the cell phone over to Aelita. She takes it and puts it to her ear.
"Ulrich, it's Aelita. Is there anything written above the window?" Aelita asks. Another short pause, but I could swear I almost heard the words "Big Fat Cheese Head," from Ulrich. I raise my eyebrow at that. Sissi, Yumi, and I can't help but look at Aeita while running.
"It's a code. You've started a delayed virtualization directly into the mountain sector," Aelita explains. She hands the phone over to Yumi who puts it to her ear again.
"Ulrich, has Odd found the way tower yet?" Yumi asks. There's no answer.
"Ulrich? William, you there?" No answer again, and so Yumi turns the phone off. We stop running and look at Aelita.
"Big fat cheese head?" Yumi asks her.
"It's uh…" Aelita blushes, "a private joke between Jeremy and me."
I still can't help but wonder about their "friendship." Lately they've been very… affectionate towards one another. We hear the sound of a car screeching and gasp.
"You guys!" Aelita exclaims.
"The stairs!" Sissi points over to the stairs.
"Let's go!" I exclaim. We start running over to the stairs and race down them.
Afterwards
On the factory bridge
We're finally on the factory bridge and we hear the car closing in on us. We keep running faster, and we get to the metal ropes. We jump and grab them, swinging down to the floor of the factory. We land on the floor and see the car stopped just by the edge of the destroyed stairs.
Inside the lab
Sissi and I go over to Aelita, we see the cards of Ulrich and William being virtualized. Aelita sits on Jeremy's chair and starts typing.
"Ulrich and William just virtualized themselves into the mountain sector," Aelita tells us. She takes the headset earpiece, and puts it on, then adjusts the mic.
"Odd, that way tower is just a little further. Bearing northwest from your position. We'll meet you in the mountain sector," Aelita says. "Move it!"
"Well, better late than never."
We look over to Yumi who had gone over to check on Jeremy. She has her hand on his forehead. He's still unconscious. I can't help but feel like that could have been me if we decided to stay. Speaking of, it seems like no one decided to text Mary. I take my phone out.
SOS. Meet us in the lab.
A second passes and I get a text back.
Mary: Understood. I'll be there.
I put my phone away and Aelita looks at Yumi.
"Your turn now, Yumi. Virtualize us," Aelita tells her.
Aelita takes the headset earpiece off and we start walking over to the ladder shoot. Aelita pulls the door to the side. Since it's almost always open, we've rarely had to open it from this end. Aelita starts climbing down, followed by Sissi, and then myself.
Afterwards
Lyoko's Mountain Sector
"Virtualization!" Yumi exclaims.
Aelita, Sissi, and I land in a crouched position. We run over to Ulrich and William who are looking at something, they're hiding behind a boulder.
"Yoo - hoo," Aelita says in a sing songy voice. "Guess who?" she asks.
Ulrich and William grab their weapons and swing toward us. We put our hands up, surprised.
"Anything good on the menu?" Sissi asks. Ulrich lowers his twin katana blades. William lowers his double edged sword.
"The usual stuff," William replies.
"A whole sea food platter, and Mia is the lemon," Ulrich says, pointing his katana blade to their position.
Odd finally arrives on Ulrich's Overbike.
"Yahoo!" he exclaims, and brings it to a halt.
"You sure took your time," Ulrich comments. He and William put their weapons away.
Odd gets off the Overbike. "Yeah, I got here, and no thanks to you two. If you knew how many towers I've been through before I got to the right one," he says, walking toward us. Aelita looks up.
"Well you're here with us now Odd dear," Sissi says.
"We're going to need more vehicles, Yumi," Aelita tells her.
Inside the lab
POV Mary's
I'm in my human form. Once I reach the lab, the freight elevator's doors open. I see the spectre attacking Yumi. I also notice Jeremy is unconscious. He throws her against the wall and she screams.
"Do you read me, Yumi?" Aelita asks.
I start gathering white electricity in my hand, and I fire it off at the spectre. It disappears into black smoke and the blast hits the wall of the lab, scorching it. The spectre reappears in front of me. I back away a bit and get into a defensive position.
Protect Jeremy and Yumi while they recover, Future Xana tells me.
I will, I tell him.
Lyoko's Mountain Sector
POV Lila's
"Yumi what was that noise? Answer us!" Aelita exclaims, worried.
We group up and Aelita shakes her head.
"No, I think it's worse," she says.
"It sounds like Mary may have reached the lab in time. She'll deal with the spectre," I say.
"That's good," Sissi says. "Let's just hope Yumi is okay, though."
"Mary is going to need help if Yumi is down. I'll go. Shoot me, Odd," Ulrich tells him.
Odd shakes his head and puts his hand on his chest. "No, I should be the one. I've already lost lots of life points and you've still got all of yours. You'll be more useful here," he says. He scratches his cheek. "What's more, that's exactly what we did during the swimming pool attack," he teases.
Ulrich walks over to him and takes his twin katana blades out.
"I don't ever want to hear about the swimming pool ever again!" he exclaims, and cuts Odd. He yelps and devirtualizes instantly.
"That'll teach you, huh?" Ulrich asks. He looks at Sissi.
"You didn't mind, I hope," he says.
"Like he said, he was low on life points," Sissi shrugs.
"Saddle up, princess," Ulrich says to Aelita.
"Okay," Aelita nods. Ulrich mounts his Overbike, and Aelita follows his lead, but Sissi asks:
"What about us?"
"Looks like we'll have to run on foot," I reply.
"Great, just what we need. Try not to go too fast?" William asks.
"We'll see," Ulrich replies. He revs up the Overbike. Aelita has her hands on Ulrich's shoulders. They take off and so do we, we start running as fast as we can.
Afterwards
We're running along the path. Ulrich is ahead of us, with Aelita still hanging onto him. She says something to him, but I can't make out what it is she said.
Sissi, William, and I see Mia along with three Krabs. One of the Krabs starts firing at Ulrich, who dodges the lasers with his Overbike. Sissi, William, and I dodge the lasers too.
"Right now!" Ulrich exclaims. Aelita leaps off the Overbike and waves her hand over her star bracelet. Her angel wings appear and she flies low to the ground. Ulrich speeds his Overbike up and we speed up our running, starting to pant a bit. Aelita climbs into the air and the Krabs focus on her, firing their lasers. Ulrich gets to where the Krabs are, and stands on the Overbike.
We finally arrive and take our weapons out. Ulrich controls the Overbike so it drives under the Krab. He jumps off it and takes his twin katana blades out. He lands on the Krab and plunges his blades into the Krab's target eye.
"Impact!" he exclaims.
Light shines from within the Krab as he jumps off of it. We regroup with him and catch our breath. The Krab explodes behind us. Mia has her kunai in both hands. She stretches and grunts, looking at us. She sees Aelita flying towards the tower, landing, and running towards it.
"Super smoke!" Mia exclaims. She disappears into black smoke and then travels through the ground and reappears in front of the tower.
"You three, take the other Krab!" Ulrich exclaims.
"Right!" we exclaim. Ulrich super sprints over to the other Krab and while I am concerned about Aelita, the three of us get to work on the other Krab. It tries charging its laser, but I put my hunter's knife back into its hoister and summon my ice powers. My snowflake amulet glows. I let the cold blasts of ice out of my hands and start freezing the Krab's legs.
The Krab is unable to move and tries to break free. Sissi readies her boomerang and throws it to the side of the Krab. It flies to the Krab's side and knocks it over with such force, the Krab breaks free from the ice, but it falls down and can't get up. The boomerang returns to Sissi and William takes his double edged sword. He grips it in both hands and goes to the Krab's target eye. He takes one end of his weapon and stabs the target eye. We jump away as the Krab explodes.
Ulrich jumps onto his Krab using his super sprint, and plunges his twin katana blades into the target eye, then gets off it. The Krab explodes.
Mia throws her kunai at Aelita. Aelita blocks the blow with her energy field to block them but she's pushed back to the ground, since they were thrown with such force.
"Aelita!" we exclaim in worry. We start running over to her but Mia summons her shuriken in both hands. Suddenly a Tessen Fan flies over at Mia and hits her hand, causing it to spark. She drops a shuriken. We see Yumi as her weapon returns to her.
"What's this, Mia? Is this how you're going to treat your friends from now on?" Yumi asks.
Mia grunts and we regroup with Yumi. Aelita gets up too, and now there's a bunch of us against Mia.
"Nice one, Odd, just in time," Aelita compliments.
"Thank you, thank you. That was just a taste of my talents. Einstein would be so-" he starts to say, but then I hear Mary shout:
"Odd, watch out!"
I take my hunter's knife out of its holster. We hold our weapons up, pointing them at Mia.
"Not this time, Mia, you're outnumbered," I tell her.
"Yeah. There's no way you can get through all of us," Ulrich says.
"Sorry kiddo, better luck next time," William says.
Mia grunts. She looks at us but uses her super smoke ability to retreat and vanishes into the ground.
"Phew, glad that's over with," Sissi sighs in relief, and puts her boomerang back in its holder. We put our weapons back in their proper places and Aelita starts running to the activated tower. She slowly walks into the tower and phases into its "doorway."
"Think we made it in time?" Ulrich asks Yumi.
"I think we did," Yumi replies. We watch the tower's aura change from red to blue.
Afterwards
Inside the lab
All of us are back inside the lab, we're looking down at Jeremy. It seems he's starting to come to.
"What happened?" Jeremy groans. He looks over to Aelita.
"Aelita - the spectre-" he starts to slide up a bit. "Did you do it?" he asks.
Aelita points to herself. "Me? I didn't do anything."
Jeremy looks at us.
Later
In the Rec Room
Jeremy, Yumi, and I are sitting on a couch in the Rec Room. Ulrich is sitting on one of the comfortable seat boxes, Mary is sitting next to Aelita, too. She's back to posing as Mia.
"I have to say, you guys held out on your own in the end. But you have to admit, I was right. If Xana attacks me, Aelita, Mary. or Lila, now, I know you'll be able to take over," Jeremy says.
"They did well, that's for sure," Mary agrees.
"So that means you trust us then?" Yumi asks Jeremy.
"Yeah, uh… a bit," Jeremy replies.
"Well that's good news because the day after tomorrow I'll be gone all day. I've got my dress rehearsal. The Subdigitals chose me to be the opening act of their concert, even though I walked out on them," Aelita tells us.
"That's fabulous Aelita, well done," Jeremy compliments.
"That's great," Ulrich says.
"It really is," I smile.
Sissi and Odd come over to us, they don't seem too happy about the movie they saw.
"Hey, you two," William says. "How was Petals of Desire?" he asks.
"It was…." Sissi trails off, letting Odd finish.
"Pretty lame," he finishes. "You know, next time we need to see an action movie. Like the day at the swimming pool attack, for instance."
Yumi groans. "Odd, don't talk about the swimming pool. Okay?" she asks.
"Hey, don't tell me you're never going to tell us what happened at the pool, huh?" Aelita asks.
"Nope," Ulrich replies.
"Why not?" Aelita asks.
"Well, it's simple really," Odd says. He scratches his head, then stops.
"Remember the attack in the gymnasium?" he asks Aelita and Jeremy. I raise my eyebrow.
"Odd, we told you never to bring up the attack in the gym. Right?" Jeremy asks.
"Why? What exactly happened in the gym?" I ask.
"Oh, nothing really," Jeremy replies, blushing.
"Nothing at all," Aelita says, and blushes too. She looks at him and I raise my eyebrow again.
Why am I out of the loop here? I think, confused.
