In Ulrich and Odd's room

POV's Lila

We're all in Ulrich and Odd's room, ready for gym class. Even Mary is ready, yet… Odd is asleep, snoring loudly. Ulrich goes over to Odd and puts his hand on his shoulder, shaking him.

"Odd, wake up, time to rise and shine," Ulrich says. He then walks back to us and crosses his arms. Odd gets up groggily.

"What are you guys dressed like that for?"

Jeremy bends down, "Think it over, it'll come to you," he says.

Odd gets up a bit. "Oh no, phys ed! Forget about it, guys. Galactic Battle totally wiped me out."

"Odd, dear, you really need to try," Sissi says.

"Sorry Sissi, I just can't," Odd says.

"Odd, I don't think an excuse like that will sit too well with Jim," Ulrich says.

"Yeah. I've been attending gym class more and more lately," I say. "Even Mary does."

"Well she has to," Odd says. "Hey… that gives me an idea."

Mary raises her eyebrow.

"What do you mean?" she asks.

"Pose as me today and not Mia," Odd replies.

"What? Just so you can sleep in?" Mary asks.

"Yes," Odd replies.

"Sorry Odd, not happening," Mary tells him.

"Then you do it, Aelita. Think of a nice legitimate excuse so that I can stay here and sleep," Odd mumbles.

"What am I supposed to tell him?" she asks, but Odd is already snoring.

"Great," she sighs.

Gym class

On the track field

We're on the track field and Jim is doing roll call.

"Della Robbia!" Jim exclaims.

"Della Robbia, I don't want to have to repeat that. Della Robbia!' he shouts.

Aelita raises her hand.

"Odd wasn't feeling too well this morning, he had to go to the infirmary," she lies.

"Absent then," Jim says. "I guess if you're not feeling well you go to the infirmary," he says. He checks Odd's name off the attendance sheet. He holds his pen in his mouth.

"Delmas," Jim calls out.

"Present," Sissi says, she's on the other side, next to me. Jim continues calling out names.

I just hope that excuse sits well with Jim, I think.

Afterwards

"Right, today we're going to work on the high jump. For once I won't go to great lengths to tell you how this sport can go to great heights. So just watch," Jim says. He lifts his finger.

"Demonstration!" Jim exclaims.

Jim starts running onto the track field. "Gain momentum," he says. He continues running and spreads his arms backwards, he runs over to the mat and jumps on it. But he bounces right up and groans. He falls off the mat.

"Ouch that has to hurt," I whisper. Sissi nods and some students start laughing.

Jim gets back up, his hair is a bit messy because of the fall.

Aelita looks at me, a bit concerned. It seems Jim is going to have to go to the infirmary, which means he'll find out she lied to him.

Later

Inside the cafeteria

We're sitting at our usual table, and today they're serving fries with lunch. Ulrich takes his fries using his fork.

"These fries are tasty," he says.

Odd sits down next to Sissi. Jeremy is sitting on the other side of him. Mary is sitting at the front end of the table, with Jeremy on her right, and Aelita on her left. I'm sitting next to Aelita, who isn't too happy, and Yumi is sitting next to me. William is at the other end of the table.

"Did I say something wrong?" Ulrich asks.

"Yeah, what's going on?" William asks.

"Aelita came up with a lame excuse," Odd replies.

"I did? If it weren't for you and your need to sleep in, you wouldn't have gotten us detention," Aelita tells him.

Odd eats his fries angrily and Yumi looks at Odd then Aelita.

"Well, it looks like we got a cold war on our hands," Yumi says.

"Listen you two, why don't you kiss and make up? We've got more important things to worry about," Jeremy says.

"Like exploring the network with the Skid more," Ulrich whispers, leaning in. Jeremy leans in too.

"That's right, and especially to check out that sphere you came across on your first trip," he says. I lean in.

"To be honest, I am pretty curious as to what that might be," I say.

"Great. When do we go?" Yumi asks, leaning in as well.

"The longer we wait, the stronger Xana gets. So I say we try tonight," Jeremy suggests.

"That is, if our two friends are ready to bury the hatchet."

Odd points to Aelita.

"As long as I don't have to talk to that dummy."

Aelita looks at him. "Suits me. What do I have to say to a lazy selfish brat, anyway?" she asks.

"Guys, come on," Sissi says.

Nicholas walks up happily to the table. "Hey Aelita, are we still on for tonight?" he asks. I raise my eyebrow.

What's this about? I think.

"I'm sorry. I mean, I really am but something just came up," Aelita replies. "I've got uh-uh-uh," she stammers a bit, "A big test I have to study for."

Nicholas shrugs his shoulders. "Well, I guess that figures. It was too true to be good. I mean - you know what I mean, right?" he asks.

Nicholas walks away and I turn to Aelita.

"What was that about?" I ask.

"Oh, nothing really," Aelita replies.

Mary raises an eyebrow. "Are you sure, Aelita? Nicholas seemed kind of down."

"I'm sure, 'Mia'," Aelita says.

I shrug and start eating some of my fries.

Hey, these are good! I think, pleased.

Later at night

On the factory bridge

We're running on the factory bridge. Mary isn't here. Odd had been walking most of the way with his hands in pockets.

"Take your time, why don't you?" Aelita asks, looking at him.

"Give it a rest, why don't you?" Odd asks.

It's going to be like this the whole night… isn't it? I think.

Inside the scanner room

Ulrich and Yumi have already taken their respective scanners. We decided to go on ahead since Aelita and Odd are way behind.

Sissi seems rather quiet.

"What's wrong Sissi?" I ask.

"Nothing… it's just, I really try hard with Odd to make up with my father when he does things like this. I couldn't get my father to understand why Aelita and Odd lied, so he still had the detention," Sissi replies.

"You tried, that's what counts," Yumi says.

"Think so?" Sissi asks.

William nods.

"Definitely," he says.

The freight elevator's doors open, Aelita and Odd are slouching against the wall of the elevator. Aelita starts walking out first and heads towards the empty scanner but Odd runs in front of her and gets in. He puts his hands behind his head in a relaxed manner, then chuckles.

"Odd, aren't you over doing it a little?" Yumi asks.

"Thanks, Yumi. It's obvious whose side you're on," Odd says. Aelita crosses her arms.

"Incredible. You'd think they were back in kindergarten," Ulrich adds.

The scanners doors close.

"Alright now, cool it guys. Let's concentrate on our mission. Lila, looks like you'll have to go last."

"Sure thing, Jeremy," I say.

Afterwards

Sector Five

Arena Room

I'm the last one to touch down on the floor of the spinning arena room. It's slowing down, now. Aelita and Odd aren't looking at each other. I sigh and everything in the room aligns itself. The corridor opens and we start running towards the elevator.

Hangar room

"Hurry over to your transporter spots," Jeremy tells us. We run into position on the transporter spots. Odd looks at Ulrich.

"Doesn't it freak you out to have a real loser at the controls?" Odd asks.

Odd, you're starting to tick me off, I think, looking at him.

Ulrich gestures Odd away, scoffing at him. Odd looks at Aelita, but Aelita doesn't look at him, so he looks away.

"Okay: Energize."

We're engulfed in white light.

Inside the NavSkid

I'm dropped to my seat, and I look to see Sissi is dropped to her seat too. We put our seat belts on.

"Ulrich, do you mind asking that dorky friend of yours if he still remembers how to use the Skid?" Aelita asks.

"Cut it out Aelita, just ask him yourself," Ulrich replies.

"Good answer, Ulrich," Odd says.

"Hey, you're starting to get on my nerves. Both of you," Ulrich says.

"Same here, and I have to deal with you as my partner. So cool it," William says.

"Yeah, we've had enough," Yumi agrees.

"Same. You guys really need to make up," I say.

I hate it when we fight amongst each other, I think.

"Sissi, what do you think?" Odd asks.

"I'd rather not get involved with this one, Odd dear," Sissi says, taking no one's side.

"If you guys are all finished, what do you say we take off? Supports away!" Jeremy exclaims.

Looking from my window I see the supports are being lifted.

"Vertical propulsion: operational," Aelita informs.

The Skid starts to take off.

Afterwards

Digital Sea

We're leaving Lyoko, the strange door opening. We enter the digital sea.

"We're in the network, Jeremy," Aelita informs.

"Holoweb system connected. Aelita, set a course bearing one seventy and look out for a hub."

"Gotcha," Aelita says.

Aelita turns the Skid horizontally and turns the turbos on, I can feel us going faster now.

"I'll enter the coordinates of the sphere that you guys saw during your last mission," Jeremy says.

"Hub in sight," Aelita confirms, after a moment.

We soon reach the hub: a swirling pool of pinkish energy.

"Are you ready?" Jeremy asks.

"Roger," Aelita confirms.

Aelita pilots the Skid just above the hub and turns it vertically.

"Hyper fluid aspiration in three seconds," Aelita says.

We dive into the hub.

Afterwards

We're soon pulled out of the hub at an accelerated speed, and now it seems we're in an entirely different part of the digital sea.

"Retro breaks!" The Skid slows and the lights are turned on so we can see everything more clearly.

"Lights: operational."

Soon we see the Sphere ahead of us. I look at Sissi, she's pretty quiet but she seems to be enjoying the ride from the expression on her face.

"Okay, Jeremy. We're coming to the Sphere now," Aelita says.

"Okay, Aelita," Jeremy approach the sphere. "Check the south pole entry portal. Like on Lyoko," he says.

"I've got a visual, Jeremy," Aelita says.

The Skid heads towards the entry portal.

"It's shut. What do I do now?" she asks.

"Why don't you knock? Maybe they'll open up for you," Odd jokes.

"Rotation," Aelita says. The Skid starts rotating.

"Hey!" Odd exclaims.

"Aelita, come on, stop! Don't forget I'm in here too!" William exclaims.

"Odd?" Yumi asks.

"Yeah?" Odd asks.

"Shut up, okay?" Yumi asks.

"Seriously Odd, you're getting the both of us in trouble," William says.

"That's not my fault!" Odd exclaims.

"Yes it was," Sissi and I say in unison.

With the Skid now completely in its vertical position, Aelita unleashes a sort of energy to the entry portal, which I imagine acts as a digital key of sorts.

"There's an access code to crack. It's going to take a couple of minutes," Jeremy tells us.

A few minutes pass, thankfully Odd is nice and quiet.

"Okay. I cracked the code," Jeremy informs.

Aelita turns off the beam of energy coming from the Skid and the entry portal starts opening.

"Way to go, Jeremy," Aelita says.

The entry portal opens completely and the Skid heads into it.

Afterwards

Forest Sector Replika

The Skid resurfaces in what appears to be an exact replica of the forest sector.

"Wow…" Sissi trails off, in amazement.

The Skid flies higher so we can see the plateaus clearer.

"Unbelievable. You guys are on an exact copy of Lyoko. Except there's only one sector: the forest," Jeremy says.

"Xana created another sector on the network? But why?" Aelita asks.

"I have no idea, but you can bet it's not to save humanity. Knowing our friend Xana, I'm sure he's made lots of other copies like this one."

"So what do we do? Check it out?" Aelita asks.

"You bet. I want as much data as possible on this new virtual world."

"Right. Energize," Aelita says.

One by one all of us are energized out of the Skid.

Afterwards

Outside the Skid

This is crazy… it feels exactly like the original, I think.

"Oh wow, another forest territory? Well, I guess we're not out of the woods yet," Odd jokes.

"If we don't want him freaking out or crying, I guess someone should laugh at his jokes," Aelita says, she puts her hands on her hips before turning away from Odd, who sighs.

"Okay. What you're going to do now is work in groups of two. One group goes out exploring, while the other watches the Skid."

Odd lifts his finger up.

"Right. I'll work with Ulrich, Yumi, Sissi, William, or Lila," Odd says.

"For once he's got a good idea," Aelita says.

"I've had it with you two. Ulrich and I are out of here right now," Yumi says. Ulrich walks over to her and Yumi puts her hand on her hip. I go over to them too and so does William, but Sissi remains.

"We can use a vacation," Yumi says.

"Me too. After all, I'm the one that got on the wrong side of Aelita's rotation," William complains.

"And I hate seeing friends fight. Aelita, I know we've had our fights, but you two should really talk about it," I suggest. Aelita looks at me, a bit surprised I'm not taking her side.

"Yeah. Sissi, do you want to come with us?" Ulrich asks.

"No, I'll stay here. Try to get these two to stop fighting," Sissi replies.

"Good, good luck," Ulrich says.

"Here come your vehicles."

Jeremy materializes all four vehicles right next to us.

"Thanks, Jeremy," Yumi says. She gets onto her Overwing, and I get onto my broomstick's saddle. William gets onto his Overdrive and Ulrich gets onto his Overbike.

"Have fun, you two," William says. He tilts his weight and then takes off.

I kick my broomstick into the air, getting it just above the ground, Yumi takes off too.

Sorry Sissi, to leave you alone with them like this, I think.

We continue driving our vehicles along the path for a minute or so.

It's still hard to believe Xana did all of this, I think.

"Ulrich, Yumi, William, Lila. Xana is attacking the Skid. We need you back there, now!"

"Got it, Jeremy," I say.

We turn our vehicles around and head back to the Skid.

Afterwards

We finally arrive back to where the Skid is. We see Mia dodging one of Aelita's Energy Fields. Odd and Sissi aren't around, so they must have just been devirtualized.

Mia lifts her hand up and summons her black smoke ability to the palm of her hand. Yumi takes her Tessen Fan out and throws it at Mia's hand, pushing it back. Mia grunts and looks over at us. Her weapon returns to her.

Ulrich jumps off his Overbike while it's still running and it drifts towards the Megatank that's next to Aelita. Ulrich's vehicle and the Megatank fall down to the digital sea. Blue beams of light come out of the digital sea.

William gets off his Overdrive and takes his double edged sword out. I get my hand on the hilt of the hunter's knife, and Ulrich super sprints over to Aelita and takes out his twin katana blades.

"Everyone knows speeding is really dangerous," he jokes.

Inside the lab

POV Sissi's

The freight elevator's doors open, with Jeremy inside. He runs over to the computer.

"Jeremy you're back," Odd says. "I-" he starts to say but Jeremy interrupts him.

"Hold on. I've got to shut the elevator down." Jeremy starts typing on the keyboard, locking the elevator down. He sits on his chair.

"Herb and Nicholas must have seen you coming into the factory with Aelita. Now they're looking for you," Jeremy says.

"If it's Aelita and me they're after, I've got an idea," Odd says. "But I'll need Aelita to get back here asap."

"What's the idea, Odd dear?" I ask.

Odd goes over to me and he whispers it to my ear. I'm a bit surprised that he's suggesting this… but I reluctantly nod.

"But, for this idea to work, Einstein...you'll need to have an open mind," Odd says.

"I don't understand. What do you mean an open mind?" Jeremy asks.

Odd chuckles a bit nervously.

You're lucky I trust you. Jeremy wanted you and Aelita to kiss and make up. But does it have to be so literal? I think.

Forest Sector Replika

POV Lila's

Mia backs up to the edge of the sector. We've got her cornered and our weapons pointed right at her.

"Better face facts, kiddo. You aren't going to win this time," William says.

Mia shouts before she retreats using her super smoke, flying downward to the digital sea.

"Ulrich, we've got an emergency. Devirtualize Aelita."

William puts his double edged sword back into its sheath. I put my hunter's knife back in its hoister. Aelita puts her hand on her hip.

"What? But if he does that, who will pilot the Skid?" she asks.

"Lila, you can do it. I'll guide you in."

"Sure thing," I say.

"This is awful," Aelita sighs.

"No sweat. I'll devirtualize you on three," Ulrich says, raising one of his twin katana blades.

Aelita closes her eyes.

"One, two," Ulrich says, and he slashes Aelita. She yelps and is devirtualized. Yumi looks at us.

"I wonder what's going on?" She asks.

"Not sure... we'll probably end up finding out though," I reply.

Afterwards

Inside the lab

The freight elevator's doors open and we walk into the lab. Sissi doesn't seem too happy, but she's not upset either. Jeremy has his hand on his cheek, he seems upset. We walk over to them. Odd and Aelita are sitting on the holosphere display case. Aelita has her arms crossed and Odd has his hands in his hoodie's pockets.

"You look awfully serious, did Lila scratch the paint on the Skid or something?" Yumi asks. Jeremy shakes his head.

"No, she didn't, it's not that," he says.

"What is it, then?" I ask.

He puts his hand down. "I'm just worried about this Lyoko copy. If there's one out there then that means there's another supercomputer somewhere else, with Xana on it," he says, and puts his hand on his cheek again.

"To destroy this new supercomputer, I'm going to have to figure out some sort of way to materialize you into the real world from the copy."

"Relax Einstein, we'll handle that when the time comes," Ulrich says.

"For sure," William agrees.

Yumi folds her hand and puts it under her chin. "Are you sure that's your only worry?"

"Uh huh. You see guys, Einstein and Sissi found out what it means to have an open mind," Odd tells us.

Aelita and Odd start laughing while Jeremy and Sissi don't respond.

We look at them, confused.

The Next Day

By the vending machines area

Mary finishes talking with Emily. The two of them part ways and Mary walks over to me.

"So Lila, do you think Odd will get into trouble for kissing Aelita?" she asks me. I shake my head.

"No. Mind you, it's a bit weird… I can't really see them as a couple or anything. Knowing them though, they'll figure out a way to squash any rumors if someone accuses Odd of cheating on Sissi."

"I'm sure they will," Mary agrees.
