Author's Note: In the original episode, everyone suddenly reverted back to their old season 1-3 outfits. There will be no reverted outfit changes in this chapter. So the new ones that our characters recently got in Maiden Voyage, are the ones that are still in play for this chapter.

The Lake
POV Lila's
We're waiting in line outside the bus, and Jim's stowing our luggage. We're going away on a weekend trip for Mrs. Hertz's class… and I'm not thrilled one bit. From what I can tell, Jeremy isn't either, probably because of Xana. I am not thrilled for one reason, and one reason alone: it's a lake. And I hate the fact that we're spending our weekend around the lake… I'd rather be in class. Not being able to swim sucks and it's terrifying.
"You can take your hand luggage on the bus with you, the rest of your stuff goes down here," Jim says, putting more of the students luggage into the compartments. Mrs. Hertz keeps up with the roll call as Jim lets another student onto the bus. The line moves up.
"What if Xana attacks while we're away?" Jeremy asks Aelita.
"After a week of working day and night on our program, I think we deserve this weekend, don't you?" Aelita asks. She playfully flicks her finger on Jeremy's chin.
"It'll be the first time we go camping together, too," she explains. Mary looks at me.
"And Lila, try not to be afraid too much. The odds of drowning in a lake are-" Mary starts to say but I interrupt her.
"Don't want to know," I say. Ulrich looks back at us but specifically at Aelita and Jeremy.
"What program are you talking about, huh?" Ulrich asks. Odd's carrying some kind of suitcase. We keep moving along with the line.
"Aelita thought we should shore up the protection shields on the Skid. We haven't tested it yet, though," Jeremy explains. Odd is walking forward but turns to us.
"You two are incredible, really. As if we didn't have enough work from-" he turns back and yelps, walking into Jim who has his hands on his hips.
"Della Robbia, weren't you listening?" Jim points to the suitcase. "You've got to store the suitcase."
"You said that carry on was okay. Look, I'm carrying it, Jim," Odd defends.
Jim gives Odd a look and then sighs.
"Fine, go on," he says. He turns to see Sissi has packed a lot of stuff, not too much, but she's brought her a bike with her as well. This bike is different than the one she keeps in the tunnel system. It has two seats and an extra set of pedals.
The rest of us start boarding the bus.
Afterwards
On the bus
Aelita and Jeremy are sitting together. Aelita straps her seat belt on and so does Jeremy. I'm sitting with Mary behind Jeremy and Aelita. Odd and Sissi are sitting together along with the bag Odd brought on board. Ulrich is sitting across from Mary and I, an empty seat next to him.
"Honestly 'Mia', I'd rather be back at school," I tell Mary.
"Lila, fresh air is good for you. And besides, would you really want to be taking exams?" Mary asks me.
"Honestly, I would. Yumi and William are really lucky," I reply.
Under the arches
POV William's
I'm with Yumi under the arches. We're waiting for one of our exams to start. She's talking to Ulrich on her cell phone. It seems he's sitting by himself, but he doesn't mind.
"Not one test, but two tests. You lucky dogs, I wish we were on that bus with you," Yumi says.
"Yeah. Seems like we're missing out on all of the fun," I sigh. Yumi nods.
The bells ring. Our classmates start making their way to the classroom.
"Well, the torture session is about to start. Talk to you later," Yumi says.
"Thanks Ulrich," she hangs up and puts her cell phone in her pocket.
"Ready?" Yumi asks.
"As I'll ever be," I reply.
We make our way to the classroom.
Afterwards
POV Lila's
Students talk among themselves as the bus continues down the road. Sissi is with Odd, it seems they're talking about something. I look at Mary who is looking out the window. She seems relaxed.
I'm glad that Mary doesn't mind posing as Mia, I think.
Jim is checking students to see if they've put their seat belts on correctly. He looks at Emily, I can see her hair from here.
"Emily, put that seat belt up more. It wasn't met for puppy dogs," Jim says.
"Okay, Jim," Emily says. "Thanks." Jim is about to say something, when I swear I hear a bark on the bus. I look over at Odd and he shushes his suitcase. Sissi sighs as Jim walks over to them.
"Well, somebody looks very guilty. What do you got inside there?" Jim asks.
"In there? Some things to keep with me on the trip, like-" Odd starts to explain, but Kiwi jumps out of the suitcase and into Odd's arms.
"Mh-hmm," Jim says.
"Oh, imagine that, it must be that stray dog everybody saw running around near the campus. He sneaked on the bus, I guess," Odd says.
Jim leans over to Odd and points to Kiwi's collar.
"You went and bought him a collar marked "Della Robbia."
Kiwi starts growling at Jim. "No it's just a coincidence, he must belong to a very distant cousin. There are plenty of Della Robbias. It's a common name, like Morales, or…" he trails off.
"Knock it off. All animals are forbidden anywhere and everywhere on school grounds," Jim says.
"That's great, because we're not at school now, are we Jim?" Odd asks. Jim lifts his finger up.
"Don't try to be a wise guy with me, Della Robbia. You've been caught red handed," Jim says, and Kiwi whimpers. "As soon as we get back, you'll have an appointment with the principal!"
Odd groans a bit. I look away. Sissi can't help but sigh.
"I don't think there's a way of getting out of this one, Odd," she says.
Afterwards
At the lake
We've finally arrived at the lake. The doors open and Kiwi rushes out of the bus with Jim on the other end of his leash.
"Hold it, slow down!" he exclaims. Odd is the first one to run off the bus after them. The rest of us unbuckle our seat-belts and gather our things so we can get off the bus and get our luggage.
Outside the bus
Mrs. Hertz walks over to the edge of the lake. She spreads her arms out. There's an island close by.
"Here we are. This will be our home and our laboratory for the weekend. An unspoiled heaven for all lovers of flora. A field trip to a true garden of Eden. In short: an ecosystem unequaled in the region," Jeremy and Aelita look at each other, confused. I'm confused, myself, and I have a feeling others are too. "And you are looking right at it."
"So, we'll be camping over there? It looks a bit… small," Sissi comments.
Mrs. Hertz puts her hands down and looks at Sissi. "If you think that's small, wait until you see the rubber dinghies."
I look at Mary with an unamused expression. She simply smiles reassuringly.
This just keeps getting worse, I think.
On the lake
In a dinghy
Mary is rowing the dinghy. A lot of our classmates have grouped up with their friends, too. I didn't want to get in with the rest of them since I felt it wouldn't hold us all together. So we got on a separate one.
"How are you holding up?" Mary asks, while she's rowing.
"Hanging in there," I reply.
Under the arches
POV William's
With one exam finished, Yumi and I are under the arches. She has her book opened.
"Well, how did you do with the question?" I ask her.
"I think I got it wrong. The factor of minus x was the right answer," Yumi replies. "How did you do?" she asks, looking at me.
"You know me," I reply. "Math is a completely different language."
"I guess we're both in for lousy grades, then," Yumi sighs. Yumi's cell phone starts ringing. She takes it out and answers it.
"Inferno and Flames here," Yumi says. I raise my eyebrow.
Flames… not the most amazing nickname, I think. "Everything okay over in paradise?" she asks. There's a short pause.
"You've got to be kidding. William and I have got a huge French test in five minutes and-" she starts to say but then it seems the call stopped. "Hello? Hello?"
Yumi looks at her phone and shakes it.
"Great, just what we need," she sighs.
"Want me to cover for you?" I ask. She puts the book back into her backpack. Pulling the strings on it, she shoulders her backpack on one arm.
"No, let's go together. It wouldn't be fair if we don't both miss this exam," Yumi says.
"Okay," I nod. A lot of our classmates are starting to go into the classroom.
"Hurry up, you two," a girl calls out, and then walks into the classroom.
"Be right there, I've got to, um, go to the bathroom," Yumi says, taking off.
The girl looks at me. "Aren't you coming, William?" she asks.
"Actually, I think I left something in my room for my next class. I'll be back," I lie and take off, following Yumi.
Afterwards
POV Lila's
All of us are now on the island with all of our luggage.
"Remember to pitch your tents very carefully," Jim says, demonstrating it with a hammer and a nail. "If you don't, the small gust of wind then poof," he makes a gesture, separating his tools. "Down for the count. Actually, that reminds me of when I was living in a tepee, in a desert near New Mexico."
"Jim, this might not be the right time," Mrs. Hertz objects.
"You don't know what you're missing, Suzanne," Jim says, using the bottom of the tent nail to tap his chin lightly. I can hear birds chirping in the distance.
"Anyways, I want you all to read the instructions for setting up your tents before you start. If you don't want to find yourselves up a creek without a paddle, haha," Jim jokes. "Now, get going," he says.
Jeremy is the first to take a zipped up tent. Followed by Aelita. I take mine next, followed by Mary. I think only Ulrich and Sissi need to get theirs next.
I meet up with Mary and see Odd turning back to Ulrich. "I do, actually. Follow the instructions and just holler if you need any help," he shouts before walking away. I look at Mary unzipping the bag. I follow her directions. Someone clears their throat and I stop. It's Emily.
"Do… the both of you mind if we set up here, together?" she asks me. I'm surprised and look at Mary. She nods. I look at her.
"Sure, why not," I say.
Inside the lab
POV William's
Yumi checked for any sign of activated towers, and so far it looks like we're good.
"Everything seems okay, no opened window, no activated tower, we might even get higher than an F on our French test," Yumi says.
"That would be nice," I say. She nods and is about to get up when there's an alert on the computer. A window opens, going through a list of towers before pinpointing one. It blinks, confirming an activated tower, an alarm like noise goes off.
"Just what we needed," I sigh. "So much for our grades," I say.
"Yeah, too bad. I guess that's that," Yumi says. She takes out her cell phone and dials a number. She puts it to her ear and lets it ring.
"Still no connection. Are they on a desert island, or what?" she asks.
"Well, depending on the area, they could have no service," I reply.
"Great, that's all we need," Yumi says. "Let's just hope they find a way to get back here with Aelita so we can deactivate the tower."
"Knowing our friends, they'll do just that," I say.
POV Lila's
After setting up all of our tents, we're all grouped up by the lake with Mrs. Hertz giving her lecture.
"The flower called the Kempul Enceladus can only survive on small islands, such as this one. Since its protected from ruminants by a barrier of water. So, in your opinion, what would happen if the lake dried up?" Mrs. Hertz asks showing the flower.
"Uh, we would be able to walk home?" Nicholas answered as our classmates start laughing and Mrs. Hertz sighs.
I chuckle a little too. For once, he's said something funny.
I wouldn't have to be afraid of drowning, either, I think.
"The presence of so much Kempul Enceladus has contributed in turn to the proliferation to a rare butterfly. As we will soon see here in the woods," Mrs. Hertz says. She points to the woods and we start walking over there. Emily is talking with "Mia," and I'm kinda glad they've been getting along. It makes things easier.
We continue walking for a bit until Heidi comee running over to us. She pants heavily before explaining what happened. Mary and I exchange glances with the others.
Can't Xana give us a break for once? I think. Then again… that does mean I'll get off this island sooner rather than later. Huh.
Afterwards
The others, Mary and I arrive on the scene. Heidi wasn't lying about Nicholas being knocked out by something. Jim bends down with Mrs. Hertz and she checks Nicholas's vital signs.
"He's in a state of shock, but he's breathing," Mrs. Hertz explains.
"There was this thing in the lake. It was black and it shot a lightning bolt at Nicholas, then it was gone," Heidi says, scared.
"Must have been an electric eel," Jim surmises. We look at each other again. We know it's definitely not an electric eel.
"I've seen them before. When I was a forest ranger in Quebec-" Jim starts, but Mrs. Hertz interrupts him.
"Jim, enough chatter. Make yourself useful and get the first aid kit," she orders.
"Right away, Suzanne," Jim says and gets up. He starts running to get it. Heidi gasps.
"It wasn't an eel, it was much bigger than that, it was huge," Heidi says.
"Ma'am I- I really think we're in grave danger here," Jeremy says to Mrs. Hertz.
"Now, now. Don't worry, Jeremy. These things happen, Nicholas will be just fine," she claims. All of us look at the lake as it starts turning black. My eyes widen at the sight of it. A huge lightning bolt comes out of it. A few of us are thrown back by the attack, the students scream. I roll to the ground.I black out for a few seconds.
Afterwards
Coming to, I hear Mary and another person running over to me. They help me up slowly. It's Sissi.
"Thanks," I smile weakly.
"You're welcome," Sissi says. We walk over to Mrs. Hertz, Jeremy, and Heidi. Heidi is unconscious, as are some of the other students. They're groaning in pain. I spot Emily, who is unconscious too. I head over to check Emily out. As I do, I see Jim has arrived, he has the first aid kit with him too. He drops it in shock.
POV William's
A window displaying the Skid's energy pops up. Yumi starts typing on the keyboard frantically.
"Oh no, Xana's attacking the Skid," Yumi says.
"That's all we need. If we lose that-" I start to say, but she nods in agreement.
"I know, I know. It'll be bad."
She calls Jeremy, the phone rings several times.
"Jeremy, we don't know what to do. Answer please," she begs.
POV Lila's
All of us are now grouped up, trying to figure out a way out of this mess.
"We absolutely have to find a way to get back to the factory," Jeremy says.
"One step off the island means electrocution for sure," Ulrich fears.
"If we create a diversion, maybe one of us can get away," Odd surmises.
"Hey, yeah, that could work," Sissi agrees.
"Okay, you, Ulrich, and Odd do that," Jeremy says to Sissi. "While we try to get in touch with Yumi and William." The three of them start walking away.
Jeremy puts his finger on his chin pondering about it. "If only we had an antenna."
Aelita looks around a bit.
"Okay. How big of an antenna?" she asks.
"You've got an idea?" I ask.
"Oh yeah," Aelita smiles.
Mary smiles at her. It's times like these I'm glad Aelita knows how to improvise.
POV William's
A window pops up, displaying two monsters and… Mia.
"That's all we need," Yumi groans, her hands on her head.
"Yeah, Mia guarding the tower… not good," I agree.
Jeremy's picture ID and number pop up again. There's finally a connection.
"Jeremy, about time," Yumi says. "William and I have been waiting on you."
"Hey, listen, we're playing survivor with an aquatic monster that likes to electrocute anyone who comes close to the shore. Anything on your side?" he asks.
"The two of us are totally helpless. The activated tower is really well protected, and the Skid is in the process of losing its energy," Yumi explains.
"Does it have any life points left?" Jeremy asks.
"At the rate things are going with the ship, it's going to be over in no time," Yumi explains.
"Please tell us you have some sort of backup plan for this," I say.
"I do. Hang on a second." There's a short pause. "Yumi, William, do either of you two have anything to write with? I'll dictate what you have to do."
"Yeah I have something, hang on," I say. I open my backpack and take out a sheet of paper and a pencil that I left in there. Closing the backpack, I hand both items to Yumi. She takes them.
"Go on then, shoot," Yumi says, getting ready to write. After Yumi gets all of the info, she ends the call and starts typing.
"You've got this, Yumi," I tell her.
"Thanks," she smiles slightly. "Now, shift the energy of the lateral shields to the side under attack. The left one." Just as she does, a window pops up with a red exclamation point. "Oh no, the other left one," she corrects herself and continues typing.
Yumi puts the mic part of the headset closer to her. "Jeremy, what are these commands? Are you sure it's going to work?"
POV Lila's
"They'll never make it on their own," Jeremy says, covering the phone so they don't hear us.
Odd, Ulrich, and Sissi walk back over to us.
"Jeremy, we're all set but we'll need Aelita and Lila," Ulrich says.
Aelita looks at them before looking back at Jeremy, who nods. Mary decides to stay there with Jeremy. "Yumi, the others are trying to get to the factory," he says, and we take off.
Afterwards
On the dinghy
Kiwi is barking on the dinghy Odd pushed out to the lake. I wasn't for this plan, because it would put Ulrich and Sissi in danger... But the sooner I get off this island, the better. Aelita and I are hiding underneath a blanket.
"Okay, I heard ya. Don't overdo it now, Della Robbia." Jim says.
"Look, over there!" Odd exclaims, pointing to Kiwi in the dinghy.
"Huh? Oh! Holy moly, how did the hound ever get into a mess like that?" Uncle Jim asks.
"He was playing in a canoe, and, wel,l a wind came up and carried him away. Oh Jim, save my Kiwi." Odd pleads. I can hear Jim walking closer to the edge. Probably to check things out.
"Well okay, but you stay right here, understand?" Jim asks as Ulrich and Sissi continue rowing the dinghy. Aelita and I look at each other. It seems our plan is working.
"You okay?" she whispers.
"I'm not freaking out," I reply. "So that's a good thing," I tell her. I hear someone rowing another dinghy which means Jim took Kiwi as bait.
POV William's
Yumi steps into the middle scanner and I step into the right hand scanner. The scanners' doors close. I close my eyes. The scanner starts spinning and humming, then there's a gust of wind and bright light.
I hate fighting you kiddo, but I'll see you soon, I think, and I'm virtualized to Lyoko.
Lyoko's Ice Sector
My vision returns. Yumi and I land safely on the ice in a crouching position. We see the activated tower close by and start running.
POV Lila's
"Come back immediately, will ya?!" Jim exclaims, probably at Kiwi or at Ulrich and Sissi. "Stern - Sissi, I'm responsible for the-" he starts to say but then Aelita and I hear a drop in the water.
POV William's
Yumi and I approach the two monsters that are guarding the activated tower: Krabs. They growl as soon as they notice us.
"Well, at least it's even," I say, taking my double edged sword out. Yumi takes her Tessen Fans out and opens them quickly. The Krabs start firing their lasers at us. I remind myself that we have Mia to worry about, too. Wherever she is. Yumi cartwheels away from her laser, and using the front end of my double edged sword, I reflect the laser heading towards me into the air. Yumi throws both of her Tessen Fans at the Krabs but they duck. Yumi's weapons return to her she catches them.
I conjure a fireball in the palm of my hand and jump into the air. One of the Krabs takes a shot at me while I'm mid air. I'm forced to use the fireball to deflect the laser so I can land safely back on the ice. Our attacks miss one another.
"Tough guys," Yumi comments.
"Yeah, clever too," I say.
"Let's go," she says. She puts her Tessen Fans away and jumps down. I follow and we start running towards the Krabs. Yumi jumps up onto the Krab's leg and uses it to launch herself onto the top of its shell. I plunge my double edged blade into the ice, giving myself a boost into the air and land on top of the other Krab's head.
The Krab tries to shake me off, but I conjure a fireball and Yumi takes out her Tessen Fan. Yumi throws her weapon at the target eye and I jump up in the air and throw my fireball. Our attacks hit the target eye of each Krab. As I'm in the air, I brace myself from the explosion. Yumi and I land back down on the ice in a crouch position. Her Tessen Fan returns to her, she catches it and puts her weapon away.
"Nice teamwork," Yumi compliments.
"Thanks, but we're not finished yet," I remind her.
POV Lila's
Ulrich and Sissi start panicking, rowing the boat faster now. We hear Ulrich scream as he gets electrocuted.
"Ulrich!" Sissi exclaims, but she's cut off by getting electrocuted as well. The dinghy hits something, meaning we must be back where the bus dropped us off earlier.
"Come here, you slime ball, you don't scare me! I've got rubber soled astronaut issued space shoes," Jim says. But his shoes don't save him from also being electrocuted. Then there's silence. Aelita and I look at each other. We pull the tarps over, getting out of them. We look at Ulrich and Sissi who are unconscious.
Sissi, more than likely there will be a return trip. You won't have to deal with the pain much longer, just hang in there, I think.
Aelita points over to her two seater bicycle. It's a good thing she brought that, after all.
"Want to see how quickly we can pedal?" she asks me.
"Sure. But we better make it fast," I reply. We get out of the dinghy.
POV William's
I take my double edged sword out of the ice. Yumi and I walk toward the activated tower.
"Now, where's Mia?" Yumi asks, her weapons out and ready.
"Not sure," I reply. Mia phases out of the tower's "doorway." She smirks at us.
"Speak of the devil. Hey kiddo, we were just talking about you," I say.
"Super Smoke!" Mia exclaims. She vanishes in dark smoke beneath the ice. Yumi and I group up, trying to find her, but it's too late. I hear her reappear behind us. We turn towards the noise and Mia jumps into the air, summoning her shuriken in both hands with her smoke ability, she throws them at Yumi.
I try to shield Yumi but the shuriken are faster than I am and they hit Yumi's right side. She shouts as she's knocked back, losing her weapons in the process, and devirtualizes in a cloud of pixels. Mia lands on the ice, causing it to crack on impact. She looks at me and smirks.
I grip my double edged sword with both hands.
"Kiddo. we need to have a talk about your table manners," I taunt. She grunts and she summons her kunai. She grips them in her hands and runs at me.
POV Mary's
Jeremy is typing on his laptop's keyboard. I'm still posing as Mia, even though I should be helping the others in my regular form.
"I've got good news and bad news," Odd says, coming over to us. Kiwi is with him.
"What's that?" I ask.
"The good news is that Aelita and Lila got through," Odd replies.
"My good news is that I've finally managed to get connected to the supercomputer," Jeremy says.
"Bad news is that our black muddy sludge monster is still on the prowl.
Mary, if it comes down to it, do you think you can help stall that thing?" Odd asks.
"I'm not sure," I reply.
Given the circumstances I believe it would be difficult for you to do so. Protecting the students is your main priority, Future Xana tells me.
"If it comes down to it, I'll protect you all. That's my main priority," I say. Odd nods.
POV William's
Mia and I clash weapons. She kicks me in the stomach, pushing me back. Using one hand, I conjure up a fireball and I throw it at her. Mia uses one of her kunai to block my attack. She runs at me and tries to strike me, but I dodge her weapons which hit the ice, cracking it a bit. Gripping my double edged blade, I aim at her head.
"Xana, you'll never defeat us! You hear me?" I ask. Mia grunts and kicks me in the stomach again, pushing me back. I nearly fall down, but jump out of the way just in time as Mia attacks me with her kunai again. I conjure another fireball and throw it at Mia. She reflects it back towards me and I duck down.
"Wow, close call," I say.
Mia takes the opportunity to attack. She swings her kunai at me. I use my double edged sword to block her weapons. They clash again. She backs away and disappears into the ice. I try to follow the dark smoke but she's fast, and gets underneath me. I hear Mia reappearing behind me and I grip my double edged sword but she kicks me. I lose my weapon as I get tossed across the ice. Mia runs at me, grabs my weapon, and puts her foot on my chest, she's about to use my own weapon against me.
"No, Mia!" Yumi shouts.
"She's right, Mia, don't do it. You're supposed to be a Lyoko warrior! More importantly… you're a Dunbar! Dunbars do NOT give up, no matter what!" I exclaim.
Mia drops my weapon and lets go of me. She puts her hand on her head almost as if she's in pain. She shouts and kneels down.
"What's… happening?" Yumi asks.
"I'm not sure," I reply, getting up.
POV Mary's
The lightning strikes are getting worse, destroying one of the student's tents. Odd is helping Mrs. Hertz, and a lot of other students are getting increasingly scared. I help Emily over.
"This… this just doesn't make any sense," she says.
"Try to hang in there," I say. A lightning strike hits a tree and knocks it down.
"Watch out!" Odd exclaims. I help Emily out of the way and Odd is able to get Mrs. Hertz to the ground just before the tree falls. It's smoking. Students scream. Someone is crying, too, and Kiwi is barking.
Please hurry up, Aelita and Lila, I think.
POV Lila's
Inside the factory
We jump off the bike and grab the ropes at the entrance to the factory, the bike falls to the floor and we swing down.
Not long now. William, Yumi, hang on, I think.
POV William's
Mia is shaking.. It's almost as if she's….. remembering who she was before she was possessed. Can my words alone really be enough to bring her back? After being this far gone?
I start walking slowly over to her. As I do, I see my weapon and gently kick it to the side.
Mia forms two fists and looks upward before shouting again. She grips her head. It's clear that she's in pain.
POV Lila's
The freight elevator's doors open. Yumi is sitting on Jeremy's chair.
"Aelita, Lila, finally. Thank goodness you two are here," she says. She gets off the chair as we run over to her. She takes the headset earpiece off and puts it on the keyboard.
"There's something really weird happening to Mia on Lyoko. William is with her now," Yumi explains.
"To Mia?" I ask. Yumi nods and Aelita goes over to the chair but doesn't sit in it. She looks at the windows opened on the computer.
"We'll worry about Mia after I launch the program. I just hope we're not too late," Aelita replies. She looks at the open windows for the Skid.
"The program is almost complete," Aelita says.
"What about the Skid?" I ask.
"It's not beyond hope yet," Aelita says. She starts typing on the keyboard.
POV William's
Mia grunts and drops to her knees again. She seems almost defeated. I walk over to her and bend down.
"Mia, listen, it's William. Your plan worked kiddo," I tell her. She's still in pain, but then looks up at me. Almost as if she's just made a realization.
"Mia?" I ask. Mia gets up, and I get up with her. She stares at me but then
smirks. She kicks me to the ground again. She walks over to my blade and picks it up. Gripping the double edged sword in her hand, she looks at me and chuckles evilly.
POV Lila's
Aelita has four windows open for towers. I think she just finished the program, activating them.
"Okay, it's launched," Aelita informs.
We hear an explosion. It seems it worked! Aelita continues typing on the keyboard. She puts her hands behind her head in a relaxed way.
"Well, we should feel proud of ourselves," She says.
"Yeah, for sure," I agree.
"Nice one, Aelita," Yumi compliments.
"Our program is operational," Aelita informs.
"Great," I say.
"Let's check in on William," Aelita says. "William, how are you doing?"
POV William's
Mia continues swinging my own weapon at me and I duck my head under it with each strike.
"Pretty bad! Glad to hear your voice, Aelita!" I exclaim. Mia super smokes into the ice again. I lose sight of her and I back myself into an ice wall. She reappears in front of me, still holding onto my weapon. She strikes the front end at me and I duck again. The weapon hits the ice wall and I start running.
"Mia has my weapon. I'm not going to last much longer," I tell her. Mia swings my double edged sword at me and I back away, dodging her attack. Except, I nearly lose my balance as I realize I'm right on the edge of the platform.
"Give me time to set up a delayed virtualization. Lila and I will be there," Aelita says.
POV Mary's
The lightning strikes are getting worse and worse. Students are running around, screaming. Odd is still holding onto Mrs. Hertz's and I'm still helping out Emily.
"Okay, everybody hurry up! Run to our antenna over there, it'll be our lightning rod!" Jeremy exclaims, gesturing in the direction of the device. Students stop screaming and start crawling out from behind their tents.
Lyoko's Ice Sector
POV Lila's
My vision returns to see Aelita and I virtualizing. We land safely on the ice. Mia is about to strike William with his weapon. I quickly summon my ice power and Aelita holds out her hand. She summons her energy field. My snowflake amulet glows, and I feel the cold forming in my hand. I unleash a powerful ice blast at Mia, and Aelita throws her energy field. Our attacks fly at Mia and she's hit by both attacks. Instead of freezing, she's shocked by the energy field. Our attacks combined are powerful enough to push her off. She drops William's weapon just before she falls into the digital sea.
"Just in time," Aelita says, victoriously.
"Glad we made it," I say. William picks up his double edged sword and looks to where Mia had fallen. We walk over to him.
"William?" I ask him.
"Is something wrong?" Aelita asks.
William puts his double edged sword into his sheath.
"Well… if I'm not mistaken, I believe for a second there the real Mia came back," he says.
"That means we'll bring her home someday," Aelita surmises.
"We just can't lose faith," I say.
Aelita nods. William, Aelita, and I move away from the edge.
"Yumi, get ready for a return trip," I inform her.
"Right," Yumi says.
Aelita looks at us and we nod. She takes off for the tower.
"How's it going, Yumi?" I ask.
"Setting the program up now," Yumi replies.
Aelita reaches the tower. She slowly walks into the tower and phases through its "doorway." William and I look at the tower's aura. It soon turns from red to blue.
"Yumi, you're good to go," William informs.
"Right. Return to the past… now," Yumi says. A big white bubble engulfs everything, sending us back in time.
Earlier that day
Back on the bus
All of us are in the same seats we had the first time around. The bus driver is taking us to the island again.
"So, I regenerated the shield by activating a few towers at a time, and that's what saved the Skid," Aelita explains.
"So that's what you've been doing while you were gone?" Ulrich asks, still sitting by himself.
"This has been such an interesting weekend," Sissi says.
"Anyway, it's effective, isn't it? Obviously it requires too much energy to be able to use it all of the time," Jeremy says.
"Hey, how come you're so cool all of a sudden, Einstein? Xana attacks don't scare you anymore?" Odd asks. I see Jeremy looking at Aelita.
"They're still scary, but since he never makes the same mistake a second time. Since Aelita and I have been working non-stop this week, we'd like a little… um…" Jeremy trails.
"We get the picture," Ulrich says.
"Yeah. At least this time around I know what the island looks like. It might not be so bad, now," I say.
"Good," Mary says. She notices Odd didn't bring Kiwi. "Say Odd, what did you do about Kiwi this time?" she asks.
Odd sounds like he's eating something and then says: "Let's say I found two somebodies that know what a dog life really means."
POV William's
Kiwi is sniffing the tree while Yumi holds onto his leash. I sigh.
"I can't believe he talked us into this," I say.
"I know. Come on, Kiwi, hurry. We have to get to our exam," Yumi says.
I just hope Kiwi finishes soon. Otherwise… we're going to be late. Again, I sigh, internally.
