POV Lila's
I'm waiting for Aelita in the hall outside our dorm. Ulrich, Odd, and William are probably waiting for us. Aelita opens the door, then closes it behind her.
Under the arches
Together, the two of us start walking under the arches and meet up with the guys with Sissi.
"Hey Aelita, Lila," William greets.
"Jeremy isn't with you?" Sissi asks.
"No, he isn't," I reply.
"We haven't seen him since yesterday," Aelita explains. I spot Ulrich carrying his bag, haven't seen that in a while.
Ulrich looks off in a different direction. "Speak of the devil, look who's here."
Jeremy comes running up to us so fast that when he stops he has to lean on the arches. He tries to catch his breath, his hand on his forehead. When he removes it we can clearly see a keyboard imprint on his forehead.
"Hello everybody," Jeremy greets.
"Let me guess, you fell asleep in front of your computer again?" Odd asks.
"Uh yeah, how did you know?" Jeremy asks.
"The imprint of your keyboard is on your forehead," Odd points to his forehead. We can't help but laugh.
"I was up all night working on a program. I came up with an idea for bringing Mia back," Jeremy explains.
"Yeah, what's the idea?" William asks.
"Well-" Jeremy starts to say but Hiroki walks up to us, looking at Ulrich.
"Hey Ulrich, could I talk to you for a sec?"
"Uh, well, if you really have to. Yeah," Ulrich replies. He looks at us. "Go ahead. I'll meet you inside."
We start walking away.
"Have you seen 'Mia' at all, Lila?" Sissi asks.
"She's probably gone ahead to have breakfast with Emily," I reply.
"She can't eat though, right?" William asks.
"No, she can't. Thankfully that hasn't been a noticeable issue, yet," I reply.

Inside the cafeteria
I'm sitting next to Aelita. Sissi is sitting next to Odd who is sitting next to William at the end of the table. Mary is indeed sitting with Emily at another table.
Jeremy is sitting across from us. I gave William my dish, since I am not one for drinking out of a bowl. The croissants were good, though. Of course, I still have my tea. Ulrich joins us at the table. He pulls the chair out and sits in it before pulling it back in. Jeremy takes a sip from his dish.
"What did Hiroki want to talk to you about?" he asks.
Ulrich stirs his drink, I think it's coffee.
"Oh, he wanted some advice. He's crazy about Milly," Ulrich explains. Odd takes a sip from his bowl.
"He is? Well, isn't that cute," he says. He pulls the bowl away, there's dipping sauce is all over his mouth. "But isn't the guy a little young for her?" Odd continues to drink from his bowl.
"You do have a point there," Sissi replies.
Aelita puts her finger under her chin. "He's not. He's just a little small for his age. What's more, he skipped a grade in school."
"Yeah, sometimes that can be difficult," I say. I was pushed ahead a level, too.
"But he acts even younger than his age," Odd says. Jeremy takes a sip from his bowl again.
"Hey Jeremy, tell us about this new idea of yours," Ulrich suggests.
"Oh yeah, weren't you going to tell us about it earlier?" William asks.
"I was," Jeremy replies, and puts the bowl down. "Whenever a human being is virtualized, he or she emits a binary residue, which we could say manifests itself as an emanation of its physical person. Resequenced in a sort of digital format."
"You lost me at binary residue," Sissi tells him.
"Yeah, in english, Einstein?" Ulrich asks.
"When you go to Lyoko you make a kind of digital trace. Something like a scent," Aelita explains. Jeremy looks at her, slightly annoyed almost.
"It would have been easier if you had said that the first time," William says.
Ulrich takes a sip of his drink and Jeremy looks at William.
"Hmm… no," he says, and rubs his chin with his thumb. He folds his hands.
"Anyways, I came up with the program based on Mia's DNA sequence that I recorded when she went to Lyoko for the first time," Jeremy explains. He holds his finger up. "If I could upload this to the Skid's sonar, we can hunt for her on the network every time we go there. And finally, find out where Mia really is."
"So, what you're saying is the Skid will become a super sub?" Odd asks, and takes a bite of his toast. He managed to clean up all of the sauce that was on his face earlier.
Jeremy pushes his glasses to the bridge of his nose. "That's right, Odd. And since we don't have class this afternoon, I was going to suggest we try it out."
Afterwards
Shortly after, Odd and Ulrich left the cafeteria. I take my cell phone out to text Mary.
Everything going okay?
I got a message back.
Mary: Yes. Emily and I are going to hang out after the last morning class. Hope that's okay
Of course. Glad you are making a good friend.
Mary: I am. It'll be good for Mia for when she returns one day.
It will. That's for sure. I'll text you if there's any trouble.
Mary: Understood.
Afterwards
The bells ring, the last morning class has ended. Students run free from the building, excited to have their free afternoon. Aelita, Jeremy, and I meet up with the others under the arches who are talking to Yumi. She seems to be upset about… something, not sure. Jeremy speaks ups and bows his head.
"Okay, I got it, I've upgraded the Skid's sonar. We're all set," he informs.
Yumi raises her eyebrow.
"All set for what?" she asks.
Jeremy lifts his head back up.
"Oh right, you don't know yet. I'll tell you all about it. I might have found a way to bring back Mia."
"Oh, cool," Yumi says, almost nonchalantly.
"Uh, Yumi-" Ulrich starts to say, but Hiroki interrupts him.
"Yumi - I've been looking for you. I - I wanted to apologize for this morning. I had no right to take your diary," Hiroki says.
Oh man… he did what? I think.
Yumi doesn't look at him.
"Did you find it?" she asks.
Hiroki rubs his neck. "No… but I looked everywhere. I swear."
"Until you find it you can consider yourself an only child."
She walks away, refusing to even look at Hiroki, slouches and groans. He puts his hand on his shoulder before walking away too.
"What happened?" Aelita asks.
"Oh, nothing," Odd replies. "Some diary strayed. We'll tell you about it." Odd puts his hand on Ulrich's shoulder. "Ulrich, could I see you for a minute?" Odd asks.
"What was that about?" Sissi asks.
"Don't know," William replies.
"So, what should we do now?" I ask.
"We go to lunch," Jeremy replies.
Later
Inside the freight elevator
The freight elevator's doors open.
Jeremy walks into the lab with his hands in his pockets. I'm not sure why I feel like this, but Yumi, Ulrich, and Odd have been pretty silent the whole time. I think Yumi's diary situation got worse, somehow.
"Get to the scanner room. I'll start up the virtualization process," Jeremy says.
Odd pushes the red button with his shoulder. The doors close and down we go.

Odd, Ulrich, and William are in their respective scanners. The doors close.
"All set? I'll launch the procedure. For once, it won't be ladies first. Lila. It looks like you'll have to go last, if that's okay."
"That's fine," I say.

Sector Five
Arena Room
My vision returns and I land on the floor of the arena room. Since I'm the last one here, the corridor is already opened.
"Let's go," Yumi urges. We start running.
Elevator Room
We reach the elevator room, and start running on the bridge until we reach the end of it. We wait for the elevator.
"Ladies and gentlemen, your elevator's waiting."
The elevator soon descends and fixes itself to the floor.
We walk onto it. We start ascending, making our way to the hangar room.
Hangar Room
We reach the hangar room and the elevator fixes itself to the floor. We run over to our respective spots.
"Everyone, get onto a teleporting spot."
We do so.
"Energize."
Light engulfs all of us and we're sent into the Skid.
Inside the Nav Skid
I'm dropped to my seat and so is Sissi. We strap ourselves in.
"Everyone ready? Stand by for lift off. Releasing supports now." Jeremy releases the supports.
"Vertical propulsion: operational. Lift off!" And lift off, we do.
Shortly after, we exit out of Sector Five.
Outside Sector Five
"Get ready to dive into the digital sea," Jeremy says.
The Skid is kept hovering in the air.
The Skid dives to just above the surface. Stopping, the Skid then dives into the digital sea and we're on our way.
Inside the tunnel
"Holoweb system, connected," Jeremy informs.
The Skid is slowly moving in the tunnel. The door opens. I still find it strange how it almost looks like a mouth with teeth. We enter the digital sea.
Digital Sea
"We've left Lyoko, Jeremy," Aelita informs. "Rotation."
The Skid turns to its horizontal position and the engines power up.
"Turbo propellers launched."
We speed through the digital sea. The Skid moves upwards, then passes a structure beneath us.
"I'm running the program. Stand by to receive initial coordinates."
"Roger," Aelita acknowledges. We wait to hear from Aelita and Jeremy.
"Oh no!" Jeremy exclaims.
"What's going on?" Aelita asks.
"A problem, princess?" Odd asks.
"We've got a system error. I think the Skid has a malfunction in part with its sensory capacity," she answers.
Uh oh… That doesn't sound good, I think.
"Yeah, I see it. Aelita. It's my program that's messed up the Skid's sonar," Jeremy says.
"So what do we do now?" Sissi asks.
"All of you have to come back. The mission is too dangerous without that sonar. Got to end it now," Jeremy replies.
"Roger. Returning to drydock," Aelita says.
The Skid turns around and quickly starts heading back to Lyoko.
"Okay, next mission: diving myself under the pillow and burying myself under the covers," Odd says. "Objective: a good night's sleep to clear my head."
"Same here. Sounds like a good idea," William agrees.
Suddenly the digital sea's color changes from blue to red.
"Sorry, but you and William are going to have to postpone your naps. I've got four Kongres heading straight for the Skid," Jeremy informs.
Kongres, huh? So that's what we're calling them? I guess that works, I think.
"Nav Skids away!" Aelita launches our Nav Skids and I take the controls.
"Get ready Sissi," I tell her.
"Right, let's just see if the Kongre can get by us!" she exclaims.
"That's the spirit!" Odd exclaims.
We take off in different directions, but I remain close to the Skid. We see a Kongre swimming towards us at a fast pace.
"Take this, fish paste," Yumi says.
"Now, Sissi," I tell her.
"Right! Fire!"
Sissi fires her Torpedoes at the incoming Kongre. The torpedoes hit its target and the creature explodes.
"Nice job, you two. William, we've got one on our tails. I'll turn around, and then you fire," Odd says.
"Got it!" William exclaims. Since we're close to the Skid I can guard it from any ambush attacks. I can't see what the others are doing. It's just a good thing we have comms in these Nav Skids.
"Come on, Odd," Sissi whispers. I smile at that.
"Alright!" Odd and William exclaim.
"Bullseye!" Ulrich exclaims.
"Nice one, good buddy," Odd says.
"Want to team up for the last one?" Ulrich asks.
"Yeah, let's do it. William, get ready to fire on mine and our signal," Odd replies.
"Got it," William acknowledges.
Must have been another Kongre that entered the fight. So that's five we'll be taking out all together, I think.
There's a short pause before we hear their voices.
"Fire!" Ulrich and Odd exclaims.
"Yahoo! Nice timing, William," Odd compliments.
"Thanks," William says.
"Nice job, guys. Time to come home now," Jeremy says.
"Nav Skids in," Aelita says. We bring our Nav Skids back to the Skid and we're reattached to it. All but one…
"Hey, where's Yumi?" Aelita asks.
"Huh? I don't get it. I don't have any trace of her. I've lost her," Jeremy replies.
Sissi and I look at each other, concerned for our friend.
"She must have gotten hit by a Kongre," Aelita assumes.
"But… that's impossible," Ulrich says.
"Einstein… do you think she might have been virtualized for good?" Odd asks.
"No… no I don't think so. The data recorded from the fight doesn't show any signs of her being eliminated," Jeremy answers.
"That's good… right?" William asks.
"Yes it is, William. It means she's still somewhere on board of her Nav Skid. Somewhere in the middle of the digital sea," Aelita explains.
"Right, and the Skid is in no condition to find her. You guys have to come back in for me to run a repair program," Jeremy says.
"What? No way!" Ulrich exclaims. "... We can't just leave her behind."
"Ulrich, no one is leaving anyone, but all of us run the risk of being virtualized forever with the Skid's systems down," Aelita says.
"She's right, Ulrich… it's the best and safest play," I agree.
"Besides, once everything is fixed… we'll be able to find her," Sissi says. "I know we will."
"Yeah… I guess you three are right. We'd better go," Ulrich says.
Afterwards
Inside the lab
The freight elevator's doors open and we walk into the lab. Ulrich runs up to Jeremy.
"How long will it take for you to fix it?" Ulrich asks, reaching him.
Jeremy is typing on the keyboard. "Reprogramming the sonar is linked to balancing the bipolarity of the flux on the one hand, on the other-" he starts to explain but Ulrich interrupts him.
"Tell us when we can go back, okay?" Ulrich urges.
"Soon, as long as you let me concentrate," Jeremy says.
Aelita walks over to Ulrich and puts her hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry, Ulrich. I'll help him," she says, trying to reassure him. "I'll call you as soon as we know."
Afterwards
In the woods
I'm sitting against a tree, waiting for one of the others to come and get me. For some reason I overheard William mentioning something about Odd's idea about Yumi's diary…? It was a strange conversation, but whatever. At least Kiwi gets to be outdoors since Odd got him from his room. Sissi was listening to her music when I left her. Seems she needed her own space, too.
I take my cell phone out and sigh. I don't really talk to Yumi on a daily basis like I do with Sissi… it's kind of weird, honestly. I'm saddened she's lost at sea, but I have faith in Jeremy and Aelita. They'll find her. I go through the list of contacts I have. It's been a while since I heard from Kayori… I figured I would have, but I'm sure I'll hear from her soon. I go down the list and spot Cameron's name. He never responded to my text that one time. He and Emily are dating… so maybe he just decided to no longer talk to me? I decide to give him a call, not thinking he would answer.
I put the phone to my ear and let it ring. I'm about to end the call when someone picks up the phone. I hear his voice.
"Uh, hello?" he asks.
"Cameron! It's, um, Lila… sorry, I didn't think you would answer. I'm not waking you, am I?"
"Oh, hey Lila. You are… but it's alright. I had to be up in an hour for my job, anyways," Cameron answers. "So... what's going on?"
"Well…" I trail off, and then start to tell him about today's events.
"Oh… if I was able to, I'd try to help you guys out. But Jeremy and Aelita will find Yumi, right?" he asks.
"I'm confident they will," I reply.
"Good. I wanted to say… sorry for never getting back to you. I wasn't ghosting you or anything."
"Ghosting?" I ask, confused.
"Oh, right… it's this slang that basically means someone stops talking to you suddenly forever. I've just been busy with Ems and my job," he answers truthfully.
"Ems? You mean Emily, right?"
"I do. She told me you dated her roommate for a bit. She's good friends with 'Mia'."
"Yeah, she is. And yeah… but we had to end things when she left."
"Sorry to hear that."
I suddenly remember something important.
"Say, um… you wouldn't happen to still have my spare time machine necklace, would you?"
Cameron clears his throat a bit.
"Yeah, about that. I kind of took it for a joy ride and ended up in a new timeline with the lyoko warriors."
My eyes widen.
"You did what?!" I nearly screech.
"Relax, relax," Cameron chuckles. "I was just kidding. It's safe away in my safe that I have."
I sigh in relief.
"Very funny… well, is there any chance I could get it back?"
"I'll do you one better. Don't tell Ems or the others, but I'm planning on returning to Kadic soon. I've been saving up and I'm halfway to my goal."
"That's great! I think Odd would be happy to see you,"I say.
"Lila, they found her!" Ulrich exclaims, he, Odd, William, and Sissi are running over to me.
"I'll let you go. Good luck with everything."
"Thanks," I say and he ends the call. I put my cell phone in my pocket, then get up. I run over to the others. Together, we start heading back the way they came from, so we can get to the lab.
"Who was that you were on the phone with?" Sissi asks.
"Wrong number," I lie.
"Oh, I hate those," Sissi says.

Inside the lab
The freight elevator's doors open, Kiwi runs into the lab. Jeremy speaks up.
"Yumi sent us a message, you guys," he informs.
Odd puts his hands in his pockets. "Great, we'll go and get her." He walks into the lab, then so do we.
"I have to finish the calculations first. I've isolated the area, but it'll be impossible to find her exact location before I fix the Skid's sonar," Jeremy explains.
He's scratching his chin, pondering the situation.
"But if she fired a torpedo, then she's in a jam," Ulrich says.
Aelita has her arm rested against Jeremy's chair. "I transposed the data from the explosion into the Holo Web to get her position via triangulation."
Jeremy stops typing on the keyboard and points to the main screen.
"There she is!" he exclaims. "She must have gotten sucked into a hub. That's why we lost all trace of her."
We look at the screen where Yumi's position is.
"But the sonar is still down, guys," Jeremy says, he pushes his glasses to the bridge of his nose. "So going under right now is going to be a big risk."
Odd is standing next to Ulrich. "Hmm.." he trails off, then puts his arms and feet together.
"I'll go," Odd says, determinedly.
"Count me in," Ulrich says, stepping forward.
"Make that three," Sissi says, stepping up too.
"You can count me in," I say.
"And make it five," William adds.
"What are we all waiting for?" Aelita asks, smiling.
Afterwards
Digital Sea
Sissi and I are in our Nav Skid, strapped into our seats. The Skid is moving towards a hub.
"There's a hub dead ahead," Aelita informs.
"I read you, Aelita. I'm entering the coordinates from where Yumi fired her torpedo."
The Skid is positioned to dive into the hub.
"Aspiration into hyper fluid in three seconds. Hang on tight," she warns.
And down we go.
Afterwards
We're shot out of the hub and the digital sea is red, it means Yumi is still in trouble. The Skid turns back to its horizontal position.
"Turbos on," Aelita says.
The turbos are engaged, and we speed up to try to reach Yumi.
Shortly after, we spot a Kongre in front of Yumi's Nav Skid. The Kongre retreats. We head towards them, but see a new, darker Nav Skid. It's Mia… great.
She fires her own torpedoes at Yumi but the Skid swoops in and takes the hit.
"Well, Yumi," Aelita says. The Skid moves in a bit closer to her.
"Huh?" Yumi asks.
"Thought you'd wander off without telling where you were?" Aelita asks.
"It took you long enough to get here," Yumi replies.
"Well, we're here now, that's what counts," I say.
"Nav Skids away," Aelita says.
We detach from the Skid and I take the controls. We head towards Mia and the Kongre, who make their way towards us. They fire at us, sending a bunch of torpedoes and lasers our way.
They hit the front of our Nav Skids.
No damage is dealt, since we're shielded too, but Sissi and I can feel the Nav Skid shake.
They continue firing at us, we dodge the attacks. We take off in different directions. Odd and William, and myself going in one direction, Yumi and Ulrich in the other direction, after Mia.
Catching up to Odd and William, Sissi speaks up.
"Remember to share, Odd dear," she says.
"I know. I just hope you don't mind a little fish soup," Odd says.
"I don't, do you, Lila?" Sissi asks.
"I do, but you can have my portion," I joke. "Ready?" I ask.
"Ready. William, now!" Sissi exclaims.
"On it. Launching, now!" William exclaims.
William and Sissi take action, firing their torpedoes at the Kongre. It swims down, their attacks missing.
"I guess we should cook it though, first," Odd says.
"We probably should," Sissi agrees.
I keep the Nav Skid heading in Odd and William's direction.
"I'm ready, you, Sissi?" William asks.
"Ready," Sissi replies.
"Fire!" William exclaims. He and Sissi fire their torpedoes again, they fly at their target and they hit. The Kongre explodes.
Odd and I turn our Nav Skids back in the direction Ulrich went off to. We head in that direction until we see Mia firing at Ulrich.
"Ulrich, watch out!" I exclaim.
"Yeah, behind you!" Odd exclaims.
Ulrich spins upwards, dodging the torpedos. We drive next to him.
"We can't leave you alone, can we?" William jokes.
Increasing the speed of our Nav Skids, Odd and I make a and turn pass a structure with Mia following in pursuit.
"Big mistake, Mia. Fire!" Ulrich exclaims.
We hear an explosion, then all of our Nav Skids race back to the Skid.
"Mission accomplished, Jeremy," Ulrich informs. The digital sea turns from red to blue, as we approach the Skid.
"Hey, great job. Now anchor yourselves to the Skid, and head back in," Jeremy says.
We do so.
"Ah, they're all coming home," Jeremy says, in a relaxed manner.
"Not everybody… but one day, we'll bring you back, Mia," Aelita says.
"We have to…" William trails off.
Later that night
Inside Lila and Aelita's room
Aelita is taking a shower, and I'm sitting on the chair, telling Mary about my conversation with Cameron.
"And he promised he'll give me back the other time machine necklace soon," I finish.
Inside Mary's study
POV Mary's
"I see.. well at least he seems okay. I should get going, have a good night," I say.
"You too, Mary," Lila says, and hangs up.
Cameron returning soon… I'm not sure how I feel about that. Despite knowing he was a victim in all of the current Xana's plans… I trail off.
I know how you feel. I have a few choice words to say to the boy, too. But for now let's worry about tomorrow and not what the future may or may not hold, Future Xana says.
Very well, I agree.
Author's Note: At the time of pre writing this chapter, Undeadmonkey8 has agreed to allow me to use Cameron once again. I promise you that nothing bad will come of this.
Cameron's story wasn't finished yet, and he will appear in part 2 towards the end of this fanfiction. Cameron is a character that Lila not only needs closure with, but a lot of the others do too.
More so for Aelita… that being said we won't see Cameron for a while.
Cameron does not know that Mary is posing as Mia.
But he's coming back. And I can't tell you how happy I am that he is.
