Dog Day Afternoon
Inside the cafeteria
POV Lila's
We're sitting at the table, having just finished gym class. Yumi and William both had great times, Yumi just barely winning a race Jim had us run. It was Jim's idea to allow the upper class to join us.
Mary is sitting next to me, and Aelita is next to me on the other side. I'm in the middle. Ulrich is sitting on the other side of me. William is sitting at the other end of the table, with Yumi sitting across from us. Sissi and Odd are sitting next to each other, with Jeremy sitting next to Odd.
I take a bite of my mashed potatoes. They're not bad. I take a sip of my tea. I place the cup on the table.
"I have to admit, William, you really are a good runner," Yumi compliments.
"Thanks. I've done a lot of races before. They're good for keeping fit," William mentions.
"That they are," Mary agrees.
"My role as… 'Mia,' she whispers. "Has been going well. So far, no one seems to believe that I'm not her."
"Well, that's good. I can't think of what we might have done without you," I say.
"Yeah. With Emily as your friend it makes things easier for us," Aelita says.
"My friendship with Emily… it isn't for her sake. More so, for Mia's," Mary tells us.
"How do you figure?" Ulrich asks.
"Well, when we free the real Mia, she is going to need someone there for her. I'm not sure any of us will be able to understand her position," Mary explains.
"Seems reasonable," William says. Jeremy pushes his glasses to the bridge of his nose.
"Anyways, I did improve the security program for a tower when I activate it. It'll help its defenses," Jeremy explains.
"Aelita, Lila, how would you two like to go to Lyoko to install it after class?"
Aelita puts her arm on my chair, and points to herself, then me.
"Sure," I say.
"No problem. Who's going with us?" she asks.
"Do all of us have to go?" Ulrich asks.
"Just one of you will be enough to keep an eye on things with Aelita and Lila," Jeremy replies.
Odd eats some of his mashed potatoes then raises his hand and waves it.
"I'll volunteer," Odd says, having swallowed his food. He puts his hand down and looks at Jeremy.
"I also happen to have a fantastic idea," he mentions.
"Uh oh," Ulrich and Sissi say in unison.
"That's never good," Yumi says. I nod in agreement.
"Yeah Odd, some of your ideas haven't exactly worked out before," I say.
"Hear me out. Why don't we take Kiwi to Lyoko this time?" Odd asks.
"Your brainless dog? What for?" Jeremy asks.
Odd lifts his finger. "First of all, my dog is not brainless. Secondly, our natural talents are multiplied on Lyoko. Imagine Kiwi and his sense of smell," he says, using his hands to act like dog paws. "He can sniff out monsters miles away. He might even be able to sniff out Mia on the network."
"No way, Odd," Jeremy smiles.
"Besides, Kiwi's such a coward he'd take off once he saw a Kankerlat."
"Oh yeah? As fast as you did when you went to Lyoko?" Odd asks.
Most of us laugh at that, though I laugh lightly and Mary doesn't laugh at all.
Later
After class
On the bridge
Aelita, Jeremy, Odd, and I are running on the bridge. For some reason, Odd brought his bag with him.
Inside the factory
We slide down the metal ropes onto the factory floor. For some reason, Odd is lagging behind. There are track marks everywhere.
"What happened in here?" Jeremy asks. Odd puts his hand on his hip.
"Looks like some bikers used our factory for some training," he surmises.
"Anyways, they don't seem to be here anymore," Aelita says.
"Well, that's good," I say.
Afterwards
Inside the scanner room
We're in our scanners. Odd is checking his bag for some reason.
"Are you ready?" Jeremy asks.
"Ready," Aelita replies.
"Same here," I say.
"Odd, are you ready?"
"Hang on, don't rush me, huh?" Odd asks.
The scanner's doors close. I close my eyes, waiting for Jeremy to start.
"Ready to go, Einstein," Odd says from inside his scanner. It's next to mine, so it's not too difficult to hear him.
"Odd, is that you making that racket?"
"Uh - yeah, my tummy is hungry. Would you believe it, I'm still hungry?" Odd asks.
Not that hard to believe, I muse.
"Yeah, don't worry, this won't take very long."
"Transfer: Aelita. Transfer: Lila," Jeremy starts. "Transfer: Odd."
The scanner starts to spin and hums.
"Scanner: Odd, Scanner: Aelita, Scanner: Lila."
The scanner continues to spin as well as humming.
"Virtualization!"
A bright light and wind engulf my scanner. It billows my hair and lifts my time machine necklace lightly. I'm virtualized to Lyoko.
Lyoko's Desert Sector
My vision returns to see Aelita and I falling in the desert sector. We soon land on the ground in a crouch position. Getting up, we see Odd landing just ahead of us in the same position. He gets up.
"The tower you want is just behind you," Jeremy informs.
Aelita and I walk over to him. Odd seems to be waiting for someone else to show up.
"Expecting someone?" Aelita asks.
"Get ready for a big surprise, you two," Odd replies, looking up. We look up with him but nothing seems to be happening.
"So, uh, what's the surprise?" I ask.
"Hm?" Odd asks, still looking up. Then, after a moment, he looks at us and rubs his head.
"I was just kidding," he says, then starts walking. Aelita and I sigh.
"Head for the tower, you two."
Aelita and I start running since Odd is ahead of us.
"We're on our way, Jeremy," Aelita says.
I get to where Odd is standing while Aelita continues on running right on into the tower.
"Lila and I will stand guard here, okay?" Odd asks, even though she's already in.
Odd starts scratching himself for some reason.
"You okay?" I ask, concerned.
"Yeah," Odd replies. "I hope I didn't mess up," he says. I raise my eyebrow at that.
Mess up with what? I think.
Odd sits on a rock, then changes his position almost as if he were a… dog, strangely. Suddenly, his ears perk up.
"Jeremy, I hear some kind of noise," Odd mentions.
"You do? I don't hear anything," I tell him.
"Hang on…" Jeremy trails off.
"Odd's right. Two Tarantulas just appeared, for now, they're on the other end of the sector. Just in case, I'll materialize your vehicles."
Jeremy materializes the Overboard and my broomstick.
Odd leaps from the rock to the Overboard. I watch him as he starts driving the Overboard out, but for some reason he's a bit off balance. He then goes faster, rocketing into the air.
"Knock it off, Odd. The tarantulas are far away, but still-"
Odd does a little flip with the Overboard and then gets it upright.
"I can't seem to keep my balance, what's wrong with me?" Odd asks.
"Want me to go after him, Jeremy?" I ask.
"I wouldn't bother, really," Jeremy replies.
Odd makes his Overboard go faster, he passes by a big rock then loses his balance. He starts to hang upside down, one hand on each side of the Overboard.
"Woah!" he exclaims.
"Odd!" I exclaim. I rush over to my broomstick and hop onto its saddle. I kick the broomstick into the air, then take off. He loses his grip and falls on the other side of the rock.
I urge my broomstick to get to him before he starts tumbling, but he tumbles his way down and lands next to rock. All crooked-like. I stop my broomstick, and get off. I rush over to him.
"You okay?" I ask, reaching him.
Odd doesn't answer me, he just groans. I feel kind of bad for him.
"Materialization!"
Odd's body starts materializing and mine does too.
Back inside the scanner room

The scanner's doors open. Aelita and I step out, but Odd looks under his shirt, as if he's looking for something.
"Huh, what's going on around here?" Odd asks. He jumps out of the scanner and has his feet on the floor, along with his hands.
"Having trouble standing up?" Aelita asks.
"Need some help?" I ask.
Odd puts his hands on the scanner, trying to get up.
"There's no way I could have been - oh no!" Odd says, making some sort of realization.
"Something wrong?" Jeremy asks.
Aelita walks over to Odd and helps him up.
"Don't worry, Jeremy. Odd missing his snack time doesn't seem to agree with him," Aelita says.
Odd rubs his head.
"That must be it, right Odd?" I ask.
"Right…" Odd trails off.
Afterwards
Courtyard
On our way back to the courtyard, we had talked to Yumi who had gone home.
She said to send her an SOS if there's a Xana attack.
As we're walking along the courtyard, we see a confused Jim by the arches looking down at the ground. We walk over to him.
"Is something the matter, Jim?" Jeremy asks.
"Huh?" Jim asks, his arms spread out. "Yeah, it's something serious. I've spent the last hour looking for my watch," he tells us. He points to his other hand.
"It must have fallen off after Phys Ed!" he exclaims, making fists and covering his eyes with them for a second, before putting them down. Jim sighs.
Aelita and I look around. We turn to see Odd on the ground, hands and feet, sniffing a tree. It surprises us. Jim puts his hands on his hips.
"Della Robbia, have you gone mad?" he asks.
Odd continues circling the tree before he sniffs a specific area of it. Jeremy, Aelita, and I look at each other, confused. Odd picks something out of a bush that's grown around the tree. He then gets up and holds a watch in his hand.
"Is this it, Jim?" Odd asks.
I take my cell phone out and text Sissi to meet us in Ulrich and Odd's room. I'm not sure what William is up to, but I text him too. They reply to my messages saying they're on their way.
Afterwards
Ulrich and Odd's room
Jeremy opens the door first, Aelita walks in, then myself.
"Everything go alright?" Ulrich asks, who is reading a magazine on his bed.
"Yeah, no sweat," Jeremy replies. Odd runs in and starts sniffing his bed.
Sissi and William go in too, they look at him strangely.
"Except Odd is acting really weird," Aelita mentions.
Odd gets under his covers and jumps off the bed.
"You mean you'd only just noticed?" Ulrich asks, having stopped reading.
"Yeah, but it's really-" I start to say and Odd grabs Kiwi's bowl. He bends down to drink the water from it.
"Gross!" Jeremy exclaims.
"Odd! Ugh, I swear…" Sissi trails off.
"Odd, I know you'll eat anything when you're hungry, but that's ridiculous," Ulrich comments.
"It really is," William agrees.
Jeremy walks over to Odd who gets up and starts licking the side of Kiwi's bowl.
"Come on, Odd, get real," Jeremy says, taking the bowl away. "What's wrong with you?" he asks, walking away.
"Huh?" Odd asks, getting up.
"Oh no, this is getting worse and worse. I don't believe this."
He starts messing with his pants, then goes for his belt.
"Odd-Odd!" Ulrich exclaims,
"Odd, stop it!" he exclaims.
Aelita, Sissi, and I cover our eyes.
"Dude, cool it!" William exclaims.
"Cut that out!" Jeremy exclaims.
"It's my- I got this thing- on my backside - I think, I think… I think I'm growing a tail," Odd reveals. Uncovering our eyes, we look at him since he's covered himself now.
Shortly after, Sissi, William, and I sit down. Jeremy has his laptop out and Odd is sniffing him. This is all so… weird. Aelita is on the phone with Yumi.
"Yumi, we have a slight problem. If you can try to sneak out of your house?"
There's a short pause.
"What kind of problem? Um…" Aelita looks at Odd, trying to figure out the right words.
"It's a weird one, Odd's going through this… transformation," she says.
"Huh?!" she exclaims, loud enough for all of us to hear. Odd's ears perk up again. There's another short pause.
"Okay, do your best. Talk to Jeremy," Aelita says. She walks over to Jeremy and gives her phone to him. Odd goes to the other side of Jeremy, who stops typing and puts Aelita's phone to his ear.
"Listen Yumi, according to my diagnostics, Odd absorbed Kiwi during virtualization," Jeremy starts to explain. There's a short pause.
"Pretty much. Right now, his human metabolism is still dominant," he says. Odd goes down over to Aelita's side, who holds him by his shoulders. "But, if we don't do something fast, it'll be too late."
Odd whimpers at that.
"Do you think we can use the scanners to separate them again?" Aelita asks.
"I think we can," Jeremy replies, lifting his finger. "We have to send him - uh, them back to Lyoko."
There's another short pause.
"No, I know what to do. As soon as I get to the factory, I'll call you back. Until then, stay home," Jeremy says.
Jeremy ends the call and hands the phone back to Aelita then closes his laptop.
"Come on, we've wasted enough time. Let's go!" he urges, holding his laptop in his arms. He starts running. Odd starts sniffing the floor.
"Wait, can we eat before we go?" Odd asks.
Ulrich has his hand on his chin.
"Want to eat dog food all of your life?" he jokes, then chuckles.
Ulrich puts his hands in his pocket. William follows him out. Odd barks, Sissi and I look at him.
"Odd, let's go," I say.
"Now," Sissi says.
Odd nods, he starts running out of his room like a dog.
Afterwards
Tunnel system
Aelita, Sissi, and I are on our riding equipment, racing through the sewers.
"We probably shouldn't look back with that stray dog following us," William jokes, using his skateboard.
"You said it," Ulrich agrees.
"If you two don't want to get bit on your legs, then shut up!" Odd exclaims, running on his hands and feet.
Afterwards
Factory Bridge
Odd pokes his head up to look at the bridge, there seems to be an issue.
"Rats, just what we need right now," he says.
All of us get out and look at the bikers with their motorcycles.
"You know those guys?" Ulrich asks.
"Uninvited visitors who used our factory for a practice track," Jeremy explains.
We start walking over to them. One of the biker guys looks at us, he appears to be holding something.
"What are you kids doing here? Beat it, right now," he orders.
"Let me handle them," Jeremy says.
"You sure? I can come up with something," I suggest.
"No, it's okay," Jeremy says. Jeremy walks over to the biker who spoke, his hands out.
"Hello, gentleman. We just wanted to go in. That's all," he says, reaching them.
"We didn't see your names on the door, so get going," another biker says, crossing his arms. Jeremy backs up a bit. Ulrich and William walk over to him.
"Don't waste your energy, they got motor oil for brains," Ulrich says, pushing Jeremy to the side.
"We'll take care of this," William says.
Ulrich and William get into fighting stances.
"You two think you're in a kung fu flick, you shrimps?" the first biker asks.
Suddenly, Odd barks and runs over to the biker. He jumps onto him, then barks again.
"He's mean, you'd better be careful! He'll bite you!" Jeremy exclaims.
"He really will!" Sissi exclaims.
Odd starts growling at the man he's pinned down.
"Hey Rocky, what's wrong with them?" Another biker asks the man pinned down. Odd jumps off him and lands in front of the men, who shout as they disperse.
William, Ulrich, and the rest of us start running. Odd manages to slide down on the metal rope first. Then William, followed by Ulrich, Jeremy, Aelita, and myself. I reach the ground and Sissi slides down last.
We run over to the freight elevator and get in.
"What do we do about those guys?" Ulrich asks. Jeremy presses the red button to go down, the hangar door starts closing.
"We'll worry about them later on. Right now, we've got to take care of Odd," Jeremy says. The hangar door closes fully, and the freight elevator descends.
Inside the scanner room
Ulrich, William, Aelita, Sissi, and I look at Odd who is in the only scanner that lights up the room.
"Odd, I'm going to virtualize you as you are onto Lyoko. Then, I'll restore each of your two DNA sequences, which should then return to their original molecular state," Jeremy says.
Odd puts his finger in his ear, then removes it.
"What was that?" Odd asks.
"You, dog-man go to Lyoko. He unscrambles you and dog's DNA. You and dog come back separated," Ulrich explains.
"You're very clever," Aelita compliments, looking at Ulrich.
Afterwards
Inside the lab
Aelita, Ulrich, William, Sissi, and I are in the lab next to Jeremy.
"Virtualization!" Jeremy exclaims.
Odd's sent to Lyoko and immediately starts barking.
"It's like I got the hiccups," Odd says. He barks again.
"This *bark* going to take long, Einstein?" Odd asks.
"I can't tell you in dog years, so it's pretty complicated. So don't rush me, okay? And don't go anywhere. If you get devirtualized before I finish, it'll be a dog's life for you forever," Jeremy replies.
"Thanks, I feel a lot better now," Odd says, then barks again.
"Any chance we can do something to help?" Sissi asks.
Jeremy starts typing on the keyboard and Aelita shushes Sissi with her finger.
"He's got to concentrate," Aelita says.
A window with an alarm suddenly pops up, stopping Jeremy. A tower is pinpointed via the super scan.
"Oh no! An activated tower in the ice sector," Jeremy says.
"Just what we needed," I sigh.
"We're on it," Aelita says, starting to run for the freight elevator.
"At least we didn't miss anything important," Ulrich says.
"I'll stay here, just in case," William says.
"Good idea, should I do that too?" Sissi asks.
"If William's here then I'm sure Jeremy will be safe from an attack," I reply.
"We can hope. Get going," Jeremy says.
Ulrich, Sissi, and I get in the freight elevator and head down to the scanner room.
Lyoko's Ice Sector
"Virtualization!"
My vision returns and I see myself falling. I soon land on the ice in a crouching position, the others already having been virtualized. I get up. We're pretty close to the activated tower, except there are three Tarantulas and Mia standing between it and us.
"For Xana!" Mia shouts, holding a shuriken in her hand. Mia and the Tarantulas start charging their way over to us.
"Nice, the locals came to welcome us," Ulrich says. I look up.
"Jeremy, how about our vehicles?" I ask.
"You got it," Jeremy replies.
Jeremy materializes our vehicles just ahead of us. Ulrich and Sissi run over to their Overbikes and hop on. I go over to my broomstick and get onto its saddle.
"Just be careful," Jeremy says.
Aelita gets onto Ulrich's Overbike.
"Aren't we always?" Ulrich asks.
Ulrich revs his Overbike up and takes off first.
"Hey!" Aelita exclaims.
Sissi revs up her Overbike and takes off, I kick my broomstick into the air.
"Relax, I won't run any red lights or anything," Ulrich jokes.
The three of us continue driving our vehicles closer to Mia and the Tarantulas who continue charging towards us.
"Attack!" Mia exclaims, lifting her shuriken up. One of the Tarantulas stands on its legs and uses its arms to fire lasers at us. The Tarantula gets back on all floors. The other Tarantulas follow suit.
We swiftly weave through the volley wave of lasers. Ulrich takes out his katana blade, and I take my hunter's knife out. I urge my broomstick to go a bit faster, but then Aelita is hit by a laser. She yelps as she falls off Ulrich's Overbike.
"Aelita!" the three of us exclaim. I put my hunter's knife back, then make a U-turn and head towards Aelita.
Mia and her Tarantula move to intercept me. But I urge my broomstick to go even faster. I hear an explosion behind us, Ulrich and Sissi must have gotten one Tarantula already.
Shortly after, I manage to catch up to Aelita just in time for the Tarantula to fire at my broomstick. I fly down and hit the ice, hard, then tumble off my broomstick. It dematerializes.
"Lila!" Aelita exclaims. She runs over to me, and helps me up. Together, the two of us start running away from Mia as she continues to chase us. Aelita holds her palms out. I channel my powers to my hands and Aelita summons two energy fields.
My snowflake amulet glows, and my hands start getting cold. The two of us unleash our attacks at Mia, but she uses her kunai to block.
We see Ulrich and Sissi driving their Overbikes toward Mia. Ulrich jumps off his Overbike and on the ice.
Sissi's green emeralds start charging up. They're glowing green.
"Wind!" she exclaims. She releases wind from the palms of her hands.
The wind flies at Mia. Ulrich's Overbike continues running on its own, Mia is just barely able to jump off the Tarantula in time to avoid Sissi's attack. Sissi drives her Overbike next to us, and Ulrich hits the Tarantula. Both vehicles and the Tarantula explode.
The three of us look for Mia but then see her super smoke herself behind Ulrich.
"Ulrich!" we exclaim.
Mia starts running at Ulrich, both Kunai in her hands.
Sissi revs up her Overbike and takes off. She jumps off it then swings her boomerang at Mia who super smokes again into the ice.
Aelita and I lose track of Mia, but she reappears in front of Ulrich. She plunges her kunai into him, and he devirtualizes in a cloud of pixels. Sissi turns her Overbike and glares at Mia who chuckles evilly, before charging after Sissi.
"Sissi, watch out!" I exclaim.
It's too late. Mia jumps into the air and throws her kunai at Sissi. The kunai hit her, knocking her off the Overbike.
The Overbike speeds out of control, thankfully not going anywhere near us. Aelita and I start running to help Sissi, but Mia uses her super smoke again to disappear into the ice. She reappears where her kunai are, grabs them, and plunges them into Sissi. She devirtualizes in a cloud of pixels.
"Sissi!" Aelita and I exclaim.
"Jeremy, we could really use William right about now!" I exclaim.
"Hang on, Odd is on his way! As for William, he and Ulrich went to check on Yumi. There's some kind of trouble. She should have been here by now," Jeremy explains.
I hope you're okay, Yumi, I think.
Aelita summons her energy field in the palm of her hand. She throws it at Mia, who uses the kunai to block it again. With no time to react, Mia starts running at us with a kunai in each hand. Mia tries to slice us with them.
Aelita and I continue backing away until we're at the edge of the ice.
Not good! I think.
Aelita yelps, and we look down to see the digital sea. Aelita summons an energy field in the palm of her hand. I channel my powers to my hands, and my snowflake amulet glows.
My hands getting cold, the two of us unleash our attacks. Mia lifts her kunai in front of her face. This time she's lifting it so we can see a Xana symbol of sorts that's on her weapons. Each of the kunai absorbs our attacks. My eyes widen.
One kunai is fully engulfed in Aelita's energy field, covered in pink energy, and the other kunai is turning blue from the ice it's absorbed. Aelita and I are surprised when Mia sends our own attacks back at us. They seem to have more power, too. We're hit and sent falling off the edge.
"Aelita, Lila!" Jeremy exclaims.
I feel someone catching me just in time. I see it's Aelita who's activated her angel wings. She flies down, passing the platform level, passing Mia too, and onward toward the activated tower.
"Super smoke!" Mia exclaims, chasing after us. Aelita lands with me on the ice. Mia appears in front of us. She has her kunai ready to attack us. We stop running.
Mia is about to go in for the kill, but we hear barking. Odd pounces on Mia, pushing her to the side. She seems to have lost her kunai and tumbles onto the ice.
"Odd no, the DNA data isn't finished yet. Odd!"
Odd isn't listening and barks again.
"I'll protect him, Jeremy," I say.
"Okay!" Jeremy exclaims.
I take my hunter's knife out, and run at Mia. She lifts her hand, one of the kunai plunges into my back, poking through my stomach. I devirtualize in a cloud of pixels, but just as I do I see Odd heading for Mia, who retrieves her weapon.

The scanner doors open, and I step out of it.
"Did you have enough time, Jeremy?" I ask.
"I hope I did," Jeremy replies.
The scanner's doors open, some smoke releasing from within them.
I swear, it's really weird how every now and then there's smoke coming out of these scanners. Never understood why that is, I think. I can see Odd inside another scanner. The two of us walk over to the third scanner.
"Kiwi?" Odd asks.
The smoke clears, revealing Kiwi. Odd bends down, holding his hands out, and Kiwi goes to him. I bend down, too.
"Aw, it is our little diggity dog! What a good boy, yeah!" Odd exclaims, happily. He rubs Kiwi's head. I pet Kiwi myself and he barks at us, happily.
Glad you're back, Kiwi, I think.
Afterwards
With Kiwi and Odd back to normal, all we had to do was move the bikers back to the front entrance of the factory.
Thankfully, Ulrich and William managed to find Yumi not too badly injured, so there's no need for a return to the past. Sissi and the rest of us look at Kiwi who's growling at the three bikers that are just waking up. Kiwi's starts to salivate, too.
"What's wrong with that dog? Has he got rabies, or what?" a biker asks. They start backing away.
"I don't know, but it's not worth taking any chances. Let's roll," the first biker who spoke to us, says.
They grab their motorcycles, rev them up and take off. Kiwi barks, and Odd bends down to pet Kiwi again. It seems Odd's toothpaste plan went perfectly.
The Next Day
We're hanging out under a tree. Ulrich has his hands behind his head in a relaxed manner. Sissi is next to Odd. William and Mary are standing next to each other. I'm standing next to Aelita, along with Jeremy.
"Hi everyone," Yumi greets, walking over to us. "Sleep well?" she asks. Ulrich stands up and looks at her.
"I didn't sleep a wink. Odd was so glad to see Kiwi they played all night long," he tells us.
"Kiwi's talent and my idea of having him foam in the mouth with toothpaste, you got to admit we're a great team," Odd says. Odd holds up his hand, making a peace sign. He then makes two fists.
"With the two of us on Lyoko, Xana won't stand a chance," he says.
"Odd, dear, that's what got you into the situation the first time," Sissi reminds him.
"Yeah. I wouldn't try that again," Jeremy tells him.
"By the way, Odd, do you always carry toothpaste on you?" Aelita asks.
"I was wondering that myself," I say.
Odd takes his toothpaste bottle out and then flashes his grin.
"Sissi and I are dating, after all, helps to stay fresh," he says.
Odd puts his toothpaste bottle away. Ulrich waves his hand by his nose.
"His feet smell awful enough. Just imagine it with bad breath, as well," Ulrich jokes.
"Good one," William chuckles.
"Thankfully, not an issue," Sissi says, defending him. We start walking to the cafeteria.
"You know, I still have a little bit of Kiwi in me," Odd mentions.
"How so?" Mary asks.
"Still have some of his tail?" Ulrich asks.
"No, his sense of smell. I can smell beef stew and brussel sprouts for today. I smell it all the way from here," Odd replies.
The others can't help but laugh.
I smile at that and Mary smiles slightly.
Don't worry, Odd. You'll be back to normal in no time, I think.
