Digital Sea
Inside the NavSkid
POV Lila's
We're in the digital sea, fighting off some Kongres and Mia who has her own NavSkid, now. Sissi and I lost sight of Yumi earlier.
"Yumi, where are you?" Odd asks.
"We'll come get you," William tells her.
"I can't shake her," Yumi says.
Not good, Mia is on her trail, I think.
Following Odd and William, I pilot the NavSkid in their direction in hopes of saving Yumi.
"Yumi, William and I are coming in for you. Get ready, William, and hang back you two. Just in case there's a miss," Odd tells us.
"Got it!" Sissi exclaims.
Hanging back like Odd requested, I let Odd and William get to work.
"Watch out, on your left," William tells her.
"I'm on it," Yumi says.
Yumi pulls away just in time to dodge two missiles Mia launched at her. Yumi accelerates, with Mia in pursuit. I follow behind Odd and William.
"William, get ready to lock on," Odd tells him, speeding up. We follow his lead.
"I'm on it, Odd. And you know something, kiddo? I have to say your manners lately have been pretty bad," William says. This allows Yumi to get free, and Odd calls out to Mia.
"Yoo-hoo!" Odd exclaims.
Odd manages to get his NavSkid past Mia's, and now they're in front of her. But Mia is trapped too, since I'm pursuing her.
"Odd, want Sissi to take care of her?" I ask.
"Not yet," Odd replies.
Odd makes a right, so Mia follows them, and I follow her.
"Okay Yumi, you can take off now," Aelita tells her. "Ulrich, Yumi is coming in to take over for you."
"Right, I'll break away," Ulrich says.
"Yumi, watch out!" Ulrich warns. "Torpedoes!"
Come on, you two, you can do it! I cheer on internally. I hear Yumi scream and it sounds like she's hit. That can't be good.
"This way, fish face," Ulrich taunts.
"You guys are low on energy. You're going to have to abort the mission for now," Jeremy informs.
"Already? But we haven't even gotten close to the Replika," Aelita reminds him.
"That's my point. You still have too far to go. And with Xana harassing us all the time, it's way too dangerous."
We head back to the Skid.
"Aelita, William and I, as well as Lila and Sissi are coming in on your left," Odd informs.
"Right, Odd. I'll lock on to both of your NavSkids," Aelita says, "Okay Odd, Lila. Lead on the target now."
"Here we go!" Odd exclaims.
"I'm following you guys!" I exclaim, doing just that. I zoom past Mia and her NavSkid. Odd turns right, and we get near the Skid. Aelita launches the torpedoes.
"Now!" Aelita exclaims. We make another turn, and I hear the torpedoes coming our way. We turn again to see them hit a structure, causing Mia to derail and crash into another structure.
"Nicely done," William compliments.
"Just like in practice," Odd says.
"Good job, our fighting tactics are improving, but it doesn't change a thing. I've got to bring you in," Jeremy says.
"Gotcha. Rotation," Aelita says.
Odd and William are heading back in their NavSkid, I'm following them.
"This one is mine," Aelita says, determined. It seems she's fighting a Kongre.
We get closer to the Skid to see Ulrich and Yumi's NavSkids heading back to Aelita. The digital sea turns back to its usual blue color. I guess Aelita defeated the kongre.
"Well done, Aelita! He overstayed his welcome a long time ago," Ulrich says.
"My pleasure," Aelita says.
Ulrich and Yumi bring their NavSkids in and reattach to the Skid.
"NavSkids in," Aelita says. Odd and William are up ahead. Odd spins their NavSkid to the right side, and I simply drive my NavSkid to the very bottom.
"Hey, wait for us!" Odd exclaims. He reattaches his and William's NavSkid, and we aren't far behind.
"Maximum propulsion," Aelita says. The Skid takes off at max speed, using the turbos.
Heading back home, at last, I think.
Afterwards
Inside the lab
The freight elevator brings us up to the lab. The doors open and we walk over to Jeremy who's typing on his keyboard.
"That's another mission down the drain," Jeremy reminds us. Ulrich covers his hand with his mouth a little.
"I can't even remember what we were trying to do," he yawns. Jeremy stops typing.
"It's such a simple procedure. We construct an intermediate digital sinuous with interlocking lyrical context, all multiplied by the virtual factors of the theorems of Bailey and Pythagoras. Piece of cake," Odd quotes. Ulrich chuckles a bit.
"Perfect imitation."
"It really is," William agrees.
"What do you say we go to sleep?" Jeremy asks.
"Sounds like a plan," I reply, smiling a bit. Yumi smiles too.
Later
Lila and Aelita's room
Aelita is changing in the bathroom before we go to bed. I'm already ready to go to sleep, having showered too, I decide to make a call. I call Kayori. I let it ring just once and she picks up. I smile.
"Hey, how'd it go on Lyoko?" she asks.
"Eh, not too good. Another failed mission," I reply.
"Sorry to hear that," Kayori says.
"Yeah, it's pretty late here so I just wanted to see how you were doing," I say.
"I'm okay, thanks. Summer is almost over. I'll be starting up another semester soon. Say, I've been meaning to ask… when's your birthday?"
"September 20th, why do you ask?"
"Just curious, is all. My dad actually has a business date around then in France. Some sort of merger with another company."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Who knows, maybe I can ask him to go there that weekend. I know it's not much of a present, but-"
I shake my head, even though she can't see I'm doing that.
"That would be great, actually."
"That's good, I'm glad we've been talking again," Kayori says.
"Me too," I say. I see the door knob turning and the door starts to open.
"Aelita is here, I'd better get going. Night," I say.
"Night Lila."
I smile and hang up. Aelita comes back with her day clothes and some other things. She closes the door behind her, then places them into our shared opened closet.
"Was that Kayori?" she asks.
"It was," I reply.
The Next Day
By the benches
We're sitting on the bench. Well, most of us. Jeremy's sitting next to me, and Aelita's sitting on my other side. Ulrich's behind us, his hands on the bench.
Ulrich just explained something that happened with Kiwi last night. Odd is standing in front of us, with Sissi next. Mary and William are standing next to each other, near Jeremy.
"But there was no need to get carried away," Odd defends.
Yumi meets up with us, and walks over to Sissi.
"Hi everybody," Yumi greets. She puts her hands on her hips when she sees Odd's expression.
"Let me try and guess. No seconds in the lunchroom? A prank that backfired?" Yumi questions.
"Worse: Kiwi," Ulrich replies. Odd puts his hands up.
"Hey, Ulrich, come on, he's not that terrible, is he?" he asks.
"Do you want to bet?" Ulrich asks. "Do you think I like the idea of sleeping in wet sheets every time you forget to take him for a walk?"
Odd slouches.
"Put yourself in his place: the poor little thing is locked up all day," he says, then presses his fingers together. All of us that are sitting get up from the bench.
"The poor thing? And me, how do you think I feel?" Jeremy asks.
"By the way, paper makes Kiwi sick. So if you didn't leave your books all over the place. Huh, right Aelita, Lila?" he asks us.
"Hey, what about our stuff? Is it because I leave them around, Kiwi steals them?" she asks.
"I've spent my life digging through the campus grounds, Mr. Riley thinks I'm a nut case."
"And let's not forget about my MP3 player," I add. "The one time I left it out after not using it for a long time, and Kiwi wrecks the thing. I had to replace it."
"The first one I got her was a gift too, Odd," Mary explains.
"Not to mention I had homework one time, that I actually did early since we're so busy with Lyoko. Kiwi ripped it to shreds," William says.
"Well, I did say paper makes him sick," Odd reminds.
"Ye,s but Odd dear," Sissi speaks up. "Kiwi's been causing trouble a lot for the others. You know I like Kiwi, but even though we agreed that he can't stay in my room at all… I think we should do something about him."
Jeremy crosses his arms.
"I agree with Sissi. Look, I'm really sorry Odd, but Kiwi's got to be punished and that's that," Jeremy says.
Odd lifts his finger.
"Objection, your honor," he says, putting his hands on his hips. "Before sentencing, my dog has the right to a lawyer."
Odd walks up to Yumi and folds his hand in a begging manner.
"Yumi, you're an animal lover," he starts, then takes her hands. I'm surprised Ulrich and Sissi aren't saying anything. He lets go of her hands, placing his arm on his head.
"You've got to help my little diggity dog," he requests.
Yumi puts her finger on her chin.
"Well, I wouldn't mind," she says, thinking about it. "But after what he did to my new shoes just last week? No!" Yumi crosses her arms.
Aelita can't help but laugh and Jeremy chuckles lightly.
"Okay, I get the picture. What's the sentence?" Odd asks, closing his eyes.
"To make Kiwi understand his bad behavior: he's got to stay in the factory for two weeks," Jeremy points. Honestly, I'm surprised by that punishment. Odd's eyes widen.
"What?! Two weeks in the factory? But how could you do that to him?" Odd asks.
All of us start walking away, and give Odd one simple answer:
"It was easy."
We continue walking, while Aelita stops. Sissi is still with Odd. I stop to wait for her.
"Odd, he'll be fine there. The factory's not so horrible," she says, trying to reassure him.
"Yeah, two weeks might just fly by," Sissi says.
"Maybe, if he were Jeremy. It's fine for him, but spending all of those hours in a computer lab is not a good thing for my dog," he mumbles.
I gotta say… I kinda feel bad.
The Next Day
In the Rec Room
Mary is hanging out with Emily, while I'm sitting next to Aelita. Jeremy is sitting across from us. The two of them are playing checkers, while two 9th grade boys are playing foosball. One of them is narrating.
"Well, go on Jeremy," Aelita urges.
One of the two friends laugh, and Jeremy still doesn't make his move.
"Take your time, why don't you?" Aelita asks.
"It's impossible to concentrate with all of that racket going on behind us," Jeremy replies.
"Hey guys," I speak up. They stop playing foosball and look at me.
"Do you mind? They're trying to play a game and they need to concentrate."
One of the boys, who I now recognize as Julian, puts his fingers to his head.
"Concentrate, that's all you bookworms do. Why don't you try something important like Foosball?" he asks. His friend looks at Jeremy, and suddenly I hear beeping coming from Jeremy's bag. Jeremy gets up from the couch and puts his finger on his lips, shushing them, then walking over to check on his bag.
"Are you talking to me, Belpois?" Julian asks.
Jeremy gets to his bag, and takes his laptop out. He opens it, and the superscan starts going through a list of towers. It then locks on an activated tower. Aelita and I get up and walk over to him.
"Oh no, Xana's launched an attack," Jeremy says.
"Which sector?" Aelita asks.
"In the desert, we better hurry up," Jeremy replies, he looks at us.
"Right," I nod.
Afterwards
Inside the freight elevator
Aelita, Jeremy, and I are in the freight elevator. Jeremy's phone starts ringing, and the hangar door closes. Jeremy takes his phone out and answers it.
"Ulrich?" he asks. There's a short pause.
"What are you talking about? I only built one Kiwi 2. He's just programmed to play basketball," Jeremy says.
Kiwi 2… I trail off.
Flashback
Jeremy turned Kiwi 2 to the right, dodging the bolt that would have destroyed him. He let the basketball drop. It circled around the rim and then went in. Game over for Herb and Iron Sissi. The basketball went all the way back to Iron Sissi, and the scoreboard changed, 4 to 5. Some students seemed surprised.
Jim walked forward, and had already gotten the wired microphone which was in his hand.
"I now declare Jeremy the winner of this year's contest," Jim said.
Some students cheered. Ulrich made a fist with one hand and a peace sign with the other hand.
"Yeah!" he exclaimed.
Yumi high fived me again. She and Odd then high fived each other.
End of flashback
That was so long ago… I trail off.
The freight elevator continues to descend and the doors open. Odd and Kiwi were the only ones here, we walk over to them.
"Good luck," Jeremy says to Ulrich on the phone. He puts his phone in his pocket then puts his hands on his hips.
"What's the matter?" Odd asks.
The freight elevator's doors close, and it ascends back to the factory level.
I guess that means Wiliam is here, I think.
Odd goes to pick up Kiwi, he's been sleeping here on a dog bed Odd must have brought here.
I can hear the freight elevator coming back down.
"Hey, don't try to blame anything else on him," Odd says. "No, not that Kiwi, it's mine," Jeremy says, pointing to himself. "Kiwi 2, he's been Xanaified and multiplied," he explains. Jeremy puts his hand on his chin, his other hand on his arm.
The freight elevator gets to the lab, and the doors open. William runs in.
"What did I miss?" he asks.
"William, good, right on time. I was just telling Odd that a robot I built a while back, Kiwi 2, has been Xanafied and multiplied. Ulrich, Yumi, and Sissi are stuck in the gym. They're going to try and get out, but I don't know if they will," Jeremy explains.
"The gym? What happened to the old passageway that's there?" I ask.
"Apparently, it was blocked off by one of the teachers a while back. Delmas probably found out about it," Jeremy replies.
"Ah, that's too bad," I say.
"Yeah, anyways, all four of you need to head down to the scanners. Aelita, Lila, you two will be going in first," Jeremy says.
"Right," I nod.
Inside the scanner room
Aelita and I take our respective scanners and step in.
"Okay, I'm launching the process. Are you ready guys?"
"Ready," Aelita answers.
"Same here, Jeremy," I say.
The scanners doors close and I close my eyes. The scanner starts humming.
"Transfer: Aelita, Transfer: Lila."
The scanner starts to spin. It keeps humming.
"Scanner: Aelita, Scanner: Lila."
The scanner continues to spin and hum. I wait for the gush of wind and bright light.
"Virtualization!"
The gush of wind and bright light engulf me, billowing my hair. It lifts my time machine necklace lightly. I'm virtualized to Lyoko.
Lyoko's Desert Sector
I open my eyes and my vision returns to see I'm falling in the desert sector with Aelita. We fall all the way down and land on the ground in a crouch position. We get up.
"William, Odd. You two are next," Jeremy says.
Aelita and I wait for Jeremy to virtualize them. Once he does, we look up to
see William and Odd virtualizing. They fall and soon land on the ground.
"Come on out, Xana, and fight like a man!" Odd exclaims, taunting the logical being.
Aelita and I walk a bit further past the boys, but just a bit. We look up.
"The activated tower is northwest of your position. Keep your eyes out for uninvited visitors. Here are your vehicles. Overwing, Overboard, Broomstick, and the Overdrive."
Our vehicles materialize right in front of us. William steps onto his Overdrive. I get onto the saddle of my broomstick. Odd uses his feet to make the Overboard flip. He then jumps on it and it flips to the normal side again, he lands on it. Aelita simply steps onto Yumi's Overwing.
Aelita takes off first, tilting her weight. I kick my broomstick in the air and take off too. Odd and William follow behind us.
We head towards the tower. Surprisingly, we reach it without incident.
"There's the tower," I say, looking at it.
"Pretty weird how quiet it's been," William comments.
"Yeah, you're right, that is weird," Aelita agrees, looking around. "No one's around," she says.
"Let's go while the going is good. The faster we can save the world, the faster we can get back for lunch," Odd says enthusiastically.
Him and his stomach, I swear, I chuckle internally. Odd speeds up ahead of us.
"Aelita, Lila. Look out. On your right."
Aelita and I look right and see lasers incoming. They hit our vehicles. We're thrown off them and hit the ground hard. I black out.
POV William's
"We were expecting you!" Odd exclaims, looking at Mia.
"Let's go, Odd," I say, twirling my Overdrive.
"Right, Laser Arrow!" Odd exclaims. Odd fires off his Laser Arrows, and I raise my hand.
"Fireball!" I exclaim. I summon a fireball then throw it at Mia. Mia is able to block Odd's incoming Laser Arrows with one kunai, and she blocks my fireball with the other. She reflects my fireball upward. Darn. Removing her kunai, she points at Odd and I with one of them.
"Manta!" Mia calls out. A Manta beyond the edge of the plateau comes flying at us.
Must have been what fired at Aelita and Lila, I think.
POV Lila's
My vision returns, I see Aelita is next to me. We slowly start to get up, shaking our heads.
"That was rough," I groan.
"Tell me about it," Aelita agrees. We look to see Mia getting onto her Manta, it flies over to Odd and William. She charges one of her kunai and swings it, sending a huge energy blast flying at Odd and William. The two of them are forced off their vehicles.
"Laser Arrow!" Odd exclaims, he cocks his paw then fires off the Laser Arrow.
"Fireball!" William exclaims, summoning his fireball and then throwing it at the Manta. Mia is now forced off her Manta and the attacks hit the monster's target eye. Odd lands on his paws and feet, while William lands in a crouched position.
Mia gets up and so do we. We watch Mia running at our two friends with her kunai. Mia swings one kunai at Odd who jumps on the other side of her and lands. Mia swings the other kunai at William who swiftly evades it, moving to his left.
Aelita waves her hand over her star bracelet and her angel wings appear. She takes me under my arms, then lifts the two of us high into the air. She flies over to the tower, knowing full well I'd be able to defend her there. As we approach we see a Tarantula come out from behind the tower.
"Be careful, you two, I see Tarantulas," Jeremy warns.
"Aelita, lower me down,"I tell her.
"Are you sure?" Aelita asks.
"Yeah, I've got an idea," I reply.
"Oh, I know I'm not going to like this," Aelita sighs. She lowers me just enough so I can jump the rest of the way down. Aelita flies back up and the Tarantula can't decide which one of us to fire at. It raises its arms, and decides to focus its firepower at Aelita, sending a barrage of lasers at her, into the air. With the Tarantula preoccupied, I channel my ice powers to my hands.
It suddenly stops and looks at me, meaning Aelita must have left. My snowflake amulet glows, letting me know I'm ready, and my hands get cold. I unleash an ice blast with both of my hands at the Tarantula who raises its front arms.
"Aelita!" Jeremy exclaims.
This distracts me and I'm hit by two of its lasers, getting knocked down to the ground again. My chest sparks.
"Lila, you've got fifty life points left! And Aelita, that's great. She's okay, Lila," Jeremy tells me.
I sigh in relief. I get up slowly and I run at the Tarantula.
"I'll call Yumi, Sissi, and Ulrich to see how they're doing."
As I'm running, I know I have enough time for my plan, so I get to work. I take my hunter's knife out of its holster. I start by cutting one frozen arm on each front side. I cut the second one off, then I go to the back and cut the back legs off. The frozen Tarantula falls down.
"Odd, William, Aelita, Lila. We've got to shift into high gear, right now."
I go to the front and jump onto the head of the Tarantula. I can feel myself starting to sleep. I plunge my hunter's knife into its frozen target eye, and my knife goes through the ice. Light shines from within and I get off before I slip all the way off.
I jump away and the frozen Tarantula explodes into frozen pieces. Those pieces disappear. I hear more droning, and look to see two Tarantulas ahead of me as well as black smoke in the ground heading towards me.
"It seems that Ulrich is hurt pretty bad. Milly and Johnny aren't much better," Jeremy informs.
I seem to have lost track of the black smoke.
"Where did you go?" I ask myself, holding my hunter's knife up.
"Behind you," Mia answers in a whisper before she plunges her kunai right into me. I fall down and devirtualize in a cloud of pixels.
POV William's
Odd and I see Mia taking Lila out. Mia heads in a different direction using her super smoke. She disappears into the ground.
It's too bad that ability is being used for evil right now, I think. Could have come in handy for us.
"We aren't exactly in paradise, Einstein!" Odd exclaims, continuing to run towards the Tarantulas.
"Yeah, definitely not!" I exclaim.
POV Aelita's
Landing on the ground, my angel wings disappear. I see black smoke heading towards me. Mia reappears from the ground and lands on her feet, holding two kunai. I raise my hand and summon my energy field.
"Energy field!" I exclaim. I launch at it at Mia who uses her kunai to block it.
POV William's
Odd and I have finally reached the Tarantulas. We see Aelita is having some trouble with Mia.
"Aelita, we'll be right there!" I exclaim.
"Just as soon as we finish these two off. Follow me," Odd says.
"Right," I say.
Odd turns back and so I follow him. The Tarantulas continue to pursue us. Tey don't give us much time, though, as they start firing their lasers at us. Odd and I stop running, sliding a bit on the ground. I take my double edged sword out of my sheath.
Odd jumps upside down and into the air. He cocks his paw then aims it at the second Tarantula. I channel my fire power to the soles of my feet, then launch myself into the air, and pull my arm back. I throw my double edged sword at the first Tarantula, and start falling back on the ground.
"Laser Arrow!" Odd exclaims. He fires off a Laser Arrow at the second Tarantula, and the first Tarantula raises its arms towards me.
Uh oh, not the best plan in the world,I think. My double edged sword gets closer to the Tarantula but it fires its lasers at me. They fly right at me, and I'm hit. I fall down and hear an explosion before I'm devirtualized in a cloud of pixels.
Inside the lab
POV Lila's
I'm with Jeremy in the lab, since I was devirtualized and all. It seems William was just devirtualized too.
Not good, only Odd is there now, I think.
"Hey Einstein, reload me so I can take care of Mia!" Odd exclaims.
"Coming up," Jeremy says.
The scanner's doors open, I hear William coming out of it.
"Note to self, never do that again," he says.
Jeremy is about to reload Odd, but then the freight elevator's doors open.
"Ah Yumi, Sissi! Good thing that you're both-" Jeremy is about to say, but then we see the two of them are passed out in the freight elevator! There's two Kiwi 2 clones, too!
"Oh no!" I exclaim.
Jeremy gets up from his chair and I start backing up.
"Hey, Einstein! Where are my arrows? Or did you take Kiwi out for a walk?" Odd jokes.
The two Kiwi 2s start running at us, but then we see William climbing up the ladder.
"What's going-" he starts to say but the Kiwi 2s turn and run at him.
"William, watch out!" Jeremy warns.
It's no good, the Kiwi 2s makes another clone of themselves, and then those clones multiply as well. The new clones run over to us, and the original clones force William back down into the scanner room.
"Hey, get off me!" he exclaims.
We hear a thud.
That sounds like it hurts, I think. The ones that are running at us pounce on us, causing Jeremy and I to yelp. One of them starts biting on Jeremy's arm, and the other bites on my leg. I try to use my other foot to kick the Kiwi 2 clone off my leg. It works, and Jeremy manages to shake his Kiwi 2 clone off of him. Together, the two of us get up.
Jeremy and I are backed up against the wall.
"Hey, I'm reloaded! Nice one, Einstein!" Odd exclaims.
But how did he… I trail off, then see a familiar face in the chair. It's Kiwi! With the Kiwi 2 clones preoccupying us, he must have hit the right button somehow.
Way to go Kiwi! I think.
POV Aelita's
Mia swings one of her kunai, letting her energy blast fly at me. I start running to some nearby rocks for cover, then slide on the ground, ducking under the energy blast. Mia uses her other kunai to send another one, and I get on a knee to summon two energy fields in the palms of my hands. They take Mia's attack and disperse. I get up and summon yet another energy field.
"Just you and me, Mia!" Odd exclaims. He starts running over to us, and Mia looks at him. Odd cocks his paw, and he fires his Laser Arrows at Mia. With Mia distracted, I fire my energy field. It flies right at her, but she ducks and it flies past her. It hits Odd instead, launching him into the air.
"Hey!" Odd exclaims, before he's devirtualized in a cloud of pixels. Oops, my mistake. I start running to those rocks again.
"Good shot, Aelita," Mia chuckles. I get behind those rocks. Now that I'm hidden well, it seems Mia can't find me. I take the opportunity to hold my hands out. I start singing softly and create a clone. I look at her and she nods. She starts running towards the end of the rocks, near the edge of the plateau.
Mia pulls her kunai together to charge them and she swings them as one. Two waves of energy are sent out at my clone, she's hit and falls down. Mia then pulls her arm back, and using her black smoke, drags my clone to the edge of the plateau and drops her into the digital sea.
"I've fulfilled my mission, Xana," Mia informs.
A blue swirling light of energy comes out of the digital sea. Mia makes her kunai disappear with her black smoke, then lifts her arms up. A false victory.
"Victory!" Mia shouts.
POV Lila's
Jeremy and I kick the Kiwi 2 clones that are next to us, we rush over to the computer to check on Aelita.
"Aelita!" Jeremy exclaims.
We see her card turning from yellow to blue. It can't be… that's just not possible.
There's no way she's-! I think, shocked.
Odd comes up the ladder shoot first, with William behind him. William groans in pain.
"That was a rough fall, definitely going to need some stitches," he says.
"That or a little trip back in time," Odd reminds him.
"Right…" William trails off. Odd and William get out of the ladder well.
"What's going on, you two? My dog's a genius but he shouldn't take your jobs," he jokes.
"Odd, William, it's Aelita… she…" I trail off.
"She just fell into the digital sea…" Jeremy finishes my sentence, trailing off too.
"Huh?" Odd asks.
"Oh no…" William trails off. He looks at Yumi and Sissi who are unconscious
in the freight elevator.
"Odd, look," William points over to them.
"Yumi? Sissi? That isn't good," Odd comments.
POV Aelita's
I let Mia wait a little bit to figure out I tricked her. I then get behind her, staying just far enough for me to cross my arms.
"Did you expect my father to show up to bail me out?" I ask, Mia looks at me, shocked. "He won't be coming today. It's been a little while since I've duplicated myself."
I start running for the tower and I hear Mia summoning one of her weapons. It could be her kunai, or shuriken, but I get to the tower's "doorway" and phase right into it before she has the chance to do any harm.
POV Lila's
The Kiwi 2 clones start going after us again. One of them pounces onto Odd's arm, Jeremy's leg, and I try to get away from the clones that are trying to get to me. William has two clones that are trying to get to him. I'm near the computer. Jeremy rolls over, he and Odd scream in pain since the clones are biting hard. One of the Kiwi 2s pounces at me, but I kick it in the face. It's thrown against the floor. The other Kiwi 2 is about to pounce on me.
"Tower deactivated," Aelita informs.
The Kiwi 2's dipixelate and disappear into white light, one by one.
"Are you okay, Jeremy?" Aelita asks.
Kiwi gets off the chair for Jeremy, and Jeremy grabs the headset earpiece. He sits on the chair and then adjusts the mic part.
"Aelita, but-" he starts to say, but Aelita interrupts him.
"You mean you haven't launched a return to the past yet?"
Jeremy types on the keyboard, then presses the enter key.
"Return to the past, now!" he exclaims. A big white bubble comes out of the holosphere and engulfs everything, sending us back in time.
The Same Day
Ulrich and Odd's room
We're in Ulrich and Odd's room, letting Aelita explain what she did on Lyoko. Aelita, Mary, Odd, and I are sitting on Odd's bed. William is sitting on Ulrich's bed.
"When I saw how the Kiwi multiplied themselves," she says, lifting her hand, "I decided to do the same. It reminded me of an old move I used to do, creating a false clone. It's been a while since I've done it, too. The rest was easy," she explains.
Jeremy gives Aelita a high five.
"Aelita, you're amazing," he says, clapping.
"That's for sure," I agree. Odd is holding Kiwi in his lap.
"Hey, she's not the only one who managed to get away because Mia was distracted," he reminds.
"That was an accident," Jeremy says. Odd holds Kiwi in front of him.
"Still, what if he hadn't been there? So who do we have to say thanks to?" he asks, then hugs Kiwi.
"To you, Odd?" Aelita jokes. Odd lets go of Kiwi.
"Me? No, to Kiwi. Who do you think reloaded my Laser Arrows? Hm?" Odd asks, hugging Kiwi once again. Kiwi barks and wags his tail.
"Okay, so Kiwi is a hero," Sissi says.
"What are you trying to say?" Yumi asks, her arms behind her head and against the door.
"Just that heroes don't sleep at abandoned factories," Odd replies, looking at us. Kiwi barks.
"Well, Jeremy?" Mary asks.
Jeremy puts his finger under his chin, then fixes his glasses to the bridge of his nose. He puts his hands on his hips and Kiwi barks some more.
"I'll leave it up to someone else," Jeremy replies. He looks at Ulrich.
"Well then, Ulrich, it's your call. After all, you're the one who shares a room with him," he says.
Ulrich looks at Jeremy, and thinks about it. He puts his hand on his head.
"What? Yeah, no problem. He can come back home," he says. Aelita gets up and goes over to Ulrich. She puts her hands on her hips, and leans towards him.
"You feeling okay?" She asks, then goes back to her normal posture.
"Yeah, I was thinking of something else," Ulrich replies, he rubs his head. Almost like he's nervous for some reason.
Odd gets up and lifts his arms in the air. I get up too, and so does Mary.
"You'll see, he's a brand new dog," he says. Odd starts counting with his fingers. "He's much calmer and better behaved-" he's about to go on, but William interrupts him.
"Hey Odd, what happened to your pants?" he asks. They seem to be wet for some reason.
"Oh, that's just-" Odd starts to say, bringing his hand to his nose.
"Ventilation. It gets so hot here in school," he lies.
"You sure it wasn't Kiwi up to his old tricks?" Aelita asks.
Jeremy covers his mouth, chuckling lightly.
"I told you it wasn't him," Odd replies. Gathering around Odd, we chuckle lightly, and smile. It seems some things just can't change.
