A Space Oddity
Jeremy's Room
POV Lila's
We're in Jeremy's room. Ulrich is sitting on the floor against Jeremy's bed, so is William. Yumi, Aelita, Sissi, and I are sitting on Jeremy's bed. Mary is standing, posing as Mia as she always does while on school grounds. Jeremy is sitting on his chair. Kiwi is sleeping next to Ulrich and William.
Suddenly, the door swings open. It's Odd.
"This is it, it's the end of the world!" Odd exclaims. He enters the room, and we look at him.
"What's wrong?" William asks.
"Did they run out of spaghetti and meatballs in the lunchroom?" Ulrich jokes. Odd lets go of the door, and closes it behind him.
"Almost as bad," Odd says, taking Ulrich's joke seriously. He lifts his hand up and starts walking over to us.
"I just ran into Jim and Delmas, they're making a surprise inspection of the dorm," he informs.
"Didn't they make an inspection just a few weeks ago?" Aelita asks.
"I think they did," I reply.
"But this time they're looking for appliances that could be fire hazards," Odd explains.
"So what?" Jeremy asks, we look at him. "There's no dangerous appliances here, not even an electric kettle." His computer starts beeping.
"I know, but the problem is what do we do about Kiwi?" Odd asks, gesturing to Kiwi.
"Do we have enough time to take him to the factory before math?" Aelita asks.
"Or maybe to your house, Mary?" I suggest.
"That might work better for Kiwi," Mary says.
Jeremy moves his sleeve to check his watch. "But in ten minutes?" he asks.
"Even if we get him to your house, Mary," Odd says, then kneels down and puts his hands together. "It's all over! He's going to end up in the pound, or worse, some traveling circus strapped to a rocket and shot out of a cannon," he rants, then makes a realization.
"Yumi, you don't have class for another hour? Could you bring him to Mary's house?" he asks, literally on his knees begging her. He chuckles nervously.
"Don't even think about it," Yumi replies, lifting her finger.
"Yumi please, you're his only hope," he says, letting his hands drop to Kiwi again.
"The answer is no," Yumi insists. Odd turns to William.
"William, could you at least please bring him to Mary's?" he asks.
"I'm not sure, Odd," William replies, and Odd turns back to Yumi again, his eyes pleading.
"Please take pity on a poor defenseless puppy," Odd begs.
"Odd-" Yumi starts to say, but Odd interrupts her.
"You will?" he asks, still holding his hands together.
"Look, even if I wanted to bring Kiwi to Mary's house-" Yumi starts to say, but Mary speaks up.
"You know, Yumi, there is a gated yard for Kiwi. Plus with the nice weather and all, you could just leave the door open for him. There's no chance of Kiwi getting out," Mary explains.
"Plus the house is so big, I'm sure he'll have a good time exploring it. Or you could simply put him in the guest room."
"So… what do you think?" Sissi asks, trying to get Yumi to say yes.
"Pretty, pretty, pretty, please!" Odd exclaims, now bowing his head down. Yumi looks away from him and sighs. She then looks at Odd.
"Okay Odd, you win this time," she says. "I'll bring Kiwi to Mary's house."
"Oh, thank you!" he exclaims.
Odd goes to the side of Jeremy's bed then picks up his backpack. It's a yellow backpack with red accents. He brings it over to Yumi and puts it on the ground.
Yumi bends down then unzips the backpack.
"Okay Kiwi, we're off," Yumi says, zipping the backpack closed.
"You have the keys, Mary?" Yumi asks, she picks the backpack up. Mary nods and takes her keys out of her pocket. She throws them to Yumi who easily catches them. Yumi puts the keys in her pocket, and then shoulders the backpack.
"I'll send you the directions via text," Mary says.
The door opens, it's Jim and Delmas. It seems Delmas is holding a box of items that have been confiscated. I think I see a coffee machine.
"Well Ishiyama, Dunbar, Stern, Belpois, Bedard, Stones, Smith, and Sissi. All together in the same dorm," he says, then looks at Delmas. "They sure don't look like they're in a big hurry to get to class, do they?" Jim asks.
Delmas walks in with the box and Yumi goes over to them to walk out.
"Well, I'd better be going," Yumi says, and walks out of the room. Jim looks at her suspiciously.
Later
After class
Outside
Courtyard
Everyone is leaving the classroom all at once, with Odd taking the lead. Mary and I are walking together, with Jeremy and Aelita walking side by side too. Sissi is walking by herself, which she doesn't seem to mind, but knowing her, she's probably a little upset that Odd is more concerned about Kiwi right now than her.
We walk over to the vending machines. Yumi is sipping a soda from one of the vending machines. William is with her too, but no drink in hand.
I can't hear what Odd is asking from here, but it's probably about Kiwi. Eventually we're within earshot.
"Huh? You left him alone in Mary's place?" Odd asks, just loud enough for us to hear.
"Odd dear, it's the best we could do on such a short notice," she says, trying to reassure him.
"I know, but-" Odd says, but he's interrupted by William.
"Look, I'm sure whatever Mary has stocked will be good for him," William says.
"You left food and water out for him, right Yumi?" Odd asks.
"I did everything you mentioned, Odd," Yumi replies. "And the door is open so he can do his business in the yard."
"Oh, here you go 'Mia'," Yumi says, she takes the keys out and tosses it back to Mary who catches them. She puts them away.
"Thanks, you locked the door on your way out?" she asks.
"Sure did," Yumi replies.
Jeremy sits on the garden ledge, he takes his laptop out of his messenger bag. He opens it, and there's an alarm. Aelita looks at him.
"Hey, guess what everybody. The supercomputer has just picked up a new replika on the network," Jeremy informs.
"Rats, now I've got to come up with a new excuse for Chardin's class. Any ideas, William?" Yumi asks him.
"I'll think of something," William replies.
"You two won't be missing much. Except maybe a nap," Odd says.
"I've got to stop by the library, but I won't take long," Aelita says. Jeremy closes his laptop.
"Well, you all know where to meet up," he says.
"I'll go with you," I offer. "Mia', want to come along with me? And you, Sissi?"
"I'm better off staying here until the end of the day. Afterwards I'll go back home to check on Kiwi," Mary replies. "Unless of course there's an SOS."
"I'll go with you, Lila," Sissi answers.
Afterwards
Inside the scanner room
"I don't have to remind you that the more replikas we destroy, the more we weaken Xana."
I step into the middle scanner. William and Sissi step into their scanners. The scanner's doors close and I close my eyes. It's time to get virtualized.
Arena Room
Sector Five
William, Sissi, and I land on the floor of the arena room. Everything starts spinning.
"Now for the others," Jeremy says.
Ulrich, Aelita, and Yumi are soon virtualized. They land on the floor in a crouched position, then get up.
"Virtualization."
We look up to see Odd virtualizing. He lands on all floors.
"Everyone okay?"
"I'm good. As for Kiwi, I'm not so sure," he says.
"Odd, it's sweet that you care a lot about Kiwi," Sissi says.
"But trust me, he'll be fine in Mary's house," I reassure him.
"Yeah, chill out Odd. He couldn't be in a better place. The house is pretty nice, actually," Yumi admits. I smile at that.
It is a nice house, for sure. Funny thing, I don't recall seeing it in my future world. It was probably destroyed by Xana, I think.
Everything aligns itself, and the doorway opens.
"Let's go!" Ulrich exclaims.
"Right!" William exclaims. We take off and head to the hangar room.
Hangar Room
The elevator brings us up to the hangar room.
"Jeremy, we're in the skid garage," Ulrich informs.
"Great, get on your teleport spots," Jeremy tells us.
All of us run over to the teleport spots and get on them.
"Okay, here we go."
Beams of light engulf us one by one.
Inside the NavSkid
I plop down onto my seat and look over to see Sissi doing the same thing. I strap myself in, and so does Sissi.
"Prepare for liftoff. Release docking mechanism."
The supports are released and I feel the engines turning on since the Skid is starting to fly out. The Skid flies out of the hangar and we head towards a tunnel.
Outside the tunnel
Outside Sector Five
We reach the outside of the tunnel. We're now outside Sector Five.
"Ready to dive," Aelita informs.
The Skid dives all the way down, the digital sea just right below us. It hovers for a few seconds then dives down.
Digital Sea
Inside a tunnel
"Holoweb system, online," Jeremy informs. "Aelita, I'm entering the coordinates of the new replika."
"Roger," Aelita says.
The Skid moves through the tunnel.
"Rotation," Aelita says. The Skid rotates to it's horizontal position.
"Powering turbo props and auxiliary generators."
With the turbos on, the Skid starts moving faster. It travels out a bit, then turns upward, passing a nearby structure. The Skid continues to head towards its destination.
"What do you think it's going to be this time around?" she asks.
"I have no idea," Jeremy replies.
"It might be a replika of the ice sector," Yumi surmises.
"Could be," Sissi says.
"My guess is the mountain," Ulrich surmises.
"I could see that," William agrees.
"What do you think, Odd? Lila?" Ulrich asks.
"I'm not sure honestly, I'd go with Yumi's guess. Ice sector seems like the best bet," I reply.
"That's fair. Odd?" Ulrich asks.
"I think I should have fed him more tofu kibbles," Odd complains.
I know Mary only buys food every so often and she bought some recently for
me for when I visit. So it's not like I eat THAT much junk food. I hardly eat any at all, I think. So I'm sure Yumi fed him the right kind of food.
"Stay focused, Odd," Jeremy tells him. Odd whimpers a bit.
The dome starts to come into a view of the Skid. I can see the tunnel door from here.
"Replika in sight, Jeremy," Aelita informs.
"Okay, Aelita. I'll unlock the portal as soon as you're connected."
The Skid stops at the "portal's" entrance. The Skid is brought back into a vertical position.
"Digital code: entered," she informs.
A blue beam of energy is shot into the "portal's" entrance.
"Just give me a minute or two, and we'll see what this replika looks like," Jeremy says.
After a short moment, the blue energy beam disperses.
"Okay Aelita, I'm sending you the entry portal code," Jeremy says.
The "portal's" entrance lights up, and the door descends. The Skid is guided into the entrance, and the "portal" closes behind us.
Sector Five Replika
The Skid is brought out of the digital sea and, to my surprise, as well as Sissi's, we're now in a replika of Sector Five. I can tell since all there is, is the digital sea.
"What do you know? We were all wrong," Aelita says, flying the Skid higher up.
"Welcome to the replika of Sector Five."
The Skid enters the tunnel.
"I just spotted a tower in the core zone that can be reached from the north pole. I'll guide you so you can get to it," Jeremy says.
"Gotcha, Jeremy," Aelita acknowledges.
Afterwards
Reaching the inside of the replika, everything is exactly the same! The Skid heads towards the dome area.
The Skid heads towards the dome and is lowered into the core zone, where normally our garage/hangar would be. Instead, we see a tower.
"Nice piece of work," Aelita compliments. "We're in a room exactly like the ones in Sector Five."
The Skid heads closer to the tower.
"Tower dead ahead, I'll take over from here," she says.
"Okay Aelita, do your stuff," Jeremy tells her and Aelita docks the Skid.
"Skid docked," Aelita informs.
"Perfect. Yumi, Odd, and Lila. Do you want to volunteer for teleportation?" Jeremy asks.
"Aye aye, captain Einstein," Odd jokes.
"Would you give the bad jokes a rest, Odd? Ulrich, Aelita, William, and Sissi. You four-"
"We stay here and guard the Skid," Ulrich interrupts.
"You guessed it," Jeremy confirms.
"You can count on us, Jeremy," Sissi says.
"Definitely!" William exclaims.
"I know I can. I'm activating the tower for our own use."
The tower shifts from its blue aura to Jeremy's green aura. I unstrap myself.
"Ready for teleportation?" He asks.
"Just say the word," Yumi says.
"And I'm ready on my end," I add.
"Teleportation."
I disappear from my NavSkid.
Location: Space
On a Space Station
Yumi, Odd, and I reappear in… no way.
NO FREAKING WAY.
The three of us look at each other, and we see we're floating in the base, since there's no gravity up here.
"Odd, Yumi, Lila. Do you read me?" Jeremy asks. He is not going to believe this one.
"Odd? Yumi? Lila?" he asks again.
"We read you loud and clear, Jeremy," Yumi responds, collecting herself. Kayori is definitely not going to believe this, either.
"Which continent did you land on this time?"
"None of them," Odd replies.
"What? You mean you're in the ocean?!"
"Nope, Jeremy… believe it or not, we're floating right now!" I exclaim.
"Outer space? You guys are in outer space?!"
Yumi laughs. Odd floats around.
"That's more like it, Einstein! I knew you'd figure it out sooner or later!" Odd exclaims.
"Amazing."
Yumi spots a window nearby.
"Hey, look at this, you two," she says. We float over to her, we can see the Earth from here. It's… breathtaking. We might not have enough room for the three of us to fit, but it doesn't matter.
"It's unbelievable," Odd says.
"It is," Yumi agrees.
"Yeah… it's just beautiful," I say.
Xana, mark my words. I will not let you destroy my home this time around, I vow.
"It is beautiful Lila, and yet… it seems so fragile," Yumi says. We can see part of the space station from here, too. Odd flips upside down, floating like that. This gives Yumi and I some more room. We then float away just a bit, but still have a clear view ahead of us.
"He gets sick even though I feed him good healthy food. I'm beginning to think there's something seriously wrong with him," Odd says.
"Odd! You're looking at the most beautiful sight you're ever going to see and all you could think about is your stupid cans of dog chow?" Yumi asks. Odd makes a fist.
"Kibble! I never give Kiwi canned dog food," he mentions, pointing to Yumi.
"According to your coordinates, you guys are on the brand new international space station. 400 kilometers above the Earth."
"This is great. We can meet some astronauts and get some autographs," Odd jokes. Though I'm not sure if he's actually serious or not.
"I'm not too sure about that one, Odd," I object.
"Lila's right, and I wouldn't be on that, anyways. The station is uninhabited right now. A new team is coming in about ten days."
Odd floats around, his hands behind his back. I stay with Yumi. She and I continue to listen to Jeremy on our coms.
"Be on guard all the same. You can never be sure what Xana has up his sleeve."
Odd pretends he's a superhero and spreads his arms out like he can fly.
"Up, up, and away!" he exclaims. Yumi laughs, and I follow them.
"Hey Lila, I just realized something," Yumi says.
"What's that?" I ask.
"Well, we're in space, and you're a real time traveler. Kind of reminds of a TV show my brother and his friend Johnnie watch together sometimes. That show is about a time traveler who can travel in space and anywhere in time with a time machine that resembles an old 1960s police public call box," Yumi tells me.
"Police public call box? What's that?" I ask.
"In England, they used to have these to arrest a suspicious or known person who committed a crime. You would use the phone inside the call box to call the police then lock that person inside until help came. I think I know about the show you're referring to, Yumi. It is funny that Lila of all people is in space," Jeremy chuckles.
"Well, I'll have to watch it sometime," I say.
"Anyways, you should be coming up to an access point."
We see a door with a handle, that must be it.
"Yup, we see it, Jeremy," I say.
We reach the door, and Odd turns it open. We go on ahead, and see a conveyer belt. On it appears to be some weird silver looking metal spheres.
"Wow," Yumi gasps. We float ourselves over to the conveyor belt.
"Jeremy, there's some sort of line of metallic spheres here," I inform.
"Kind of like Megatanks," Yumi surmises. Odd looks at her.
"Do you think Xana's manufacturing those things?" he asks. Yumi looks at him.
"I have no idea," she replies. She and Odd look back at the conveyor belt.
"At least they seem harmless right now," I say.
"Maybe he's taking up bocce ball," Odd jokes.
"It could be nothing, or something major. They are definitely not made to serve mankind. Forget about them and find that supercomputer."
Odd moves his hand to touch one of them.
"No, Odd," Yumi tells him, grabbing his arm. "Don't touch them. Come on," she insists.
Yumi pulls Odd away, causing him to yelp a little. We float to another entry point. Yumi has her hands out like she's flying. Odd's moving his paws and feet almost like he's swimming. I just have my hands out like Yumi does.
I gotta admit, this is definitely one for the books, I think.
We enter the room and it looks like some sort of main deck area. There's even chairs in here for the astronauts to sit on. Getting a little closer, Odd and I smile. Supercomputer in sight. It's just beyond the area with the chairs.
"Jeremy, I think we just found the supercomputer," Yumi informs.
"Perfect timing, because Xana is trying to take out the Skid. Better take out the supercomputer now, be careful though to make it look like an accident. The space station is too well known. We don't want any rumors about sabotage."
"An accident? How do we do that?" Yumi asks.
"I hope you remembered to give Kiwi enough to drink," Odd tells her.
"Odd, number one, Mary should be home by now. So she can refill his bowl with more water," I tell him.
"But-" Odd asks.
"And two, Odd, we're facing disaster and all you can think about is your dog?" Yumi asks, following my thoughts. Odd lifts his finger.
"Water, that's a good idea," he says. He starts going towards a big metal tube.
"Huh?" Yumi and I, confused.
"We'll create some water damage. There has to be some water running through one of these things," Odd surmises.
"Nice going, Odd," Yumi compliments.
"Yeah, not a bad idea at all," I nod.
Odd reaches the big metal tube. Yumi and I float over to another one. Odd seems to have checked the tube, and no dice. So, turning back to him, I see him floating over to another one.
"Don't thank me, thank Kiwi," Odd says. I smile and turn back to the tube in front of Yumi and me. Yumi and I touch the tube, feeling something going through it.
"Odd, over here," Yumi calls out to him.
"There's definitely some water on this side," I tell him.
Odd goes over to my side, so I turn to give him some space. Odd reaches us. Yumi points to the tube.
"The water flows through there," Yumi says, pointing to the area we were just touching. Yumi and I see the metal spheres from earlier, they're floating in mid air too. They kind of remind me of the Xana Bots. We gasp at the sight of them. Instead of lasers, one of the metal spheres turns into a spiked ball. It seems to be heading towards Odd. I'm about to kick him out of the way, but Yumi pulls me out of the way and beats me to it. The metal sphere is now stuck against the wall of cables.
"Oh, thanks Yumi," Odd says.
"Yeah," I say.
We look at the two other metal spheres. They form spikes, too.
"We're out of here!" Yumi exclaims. She brings her feet against a cable and pushes herself off it. Yumi lets her hands fly out, and even though I don't know how to swim, I follow Odd's movements.
Yumi is the first one to leave the room, using the entry point we arrived in. Odd is next to make his way out, followed by me. I can hear the metal spheres following us. Yumi is holding the door open, and Odd gets through. I can see them from here, so I move my arms faster and get out too. The third metal sphere that was stuck releases its spikes again. All three flying spheres head towards us.
"Odd, Lila! Give me a hand!" Yumi exclaims. She starts closing the door. Odd and I go over to her and help her close the door. We shut it just in time.
The metal spheres hit the door, causing the three of us to gasp. They try to break the door down, but when that doesn't work... the door itself starts melting!
"Xana's really having a ball," Odd jokes. "And lots of them," he adds.
"Odd, you really should stop joking around in serious moments like this," I tell him. Yumi looks at him.
"Yeah, these could reverse the teleportation. If we fail this mission, Xana wins," she reminds him.
Odd, Yumi, and I decide to back far away from the metal spheres. They continue to melt the door, and it looks like they've almost succeeded.
"What now?" Yumi asks.
Odd puts his paw on his cheek, pondering about it. I look at him, and he looks at a touch control panel of some type with a lever that's next to it. It's nearby. He chuckles.
"It feels pretty stuffy in here, let's air the place out," he suggests.
"Odd, are you kidding me? We can't do that!" I tell him.
"What? If I don't do that, we'll be bowling pins," Odd says. Yumi gasps as Odd goes for the lever.
"Hang on tight, you two," he tells us. He pulls the lever down, and the airlock opens. We all hold onto the walls for dear life. An alarm goes off as the air rushes out of the cabin and tries to pull us out into deep space. Yumi, Odd, and I scream while debris are sent out into deep space.
It's small boxes at first, and then a much larger box. I even spot a tool being sucked out. With all the objects being forced out, the spheres are having a hard time staying in.
Odd, looks like your plan is working! I think.
The spheres spin to try and keep themselves in, but it's no good. They're sucked into deep space with more boxes flying outside too. Odd pulls the lever up. The doors close behind us and we're floating again with no issues.
"Ah, that's better, it smells less like an astronaut's dirty socks in here now," Odd jokes.
"Let's get going, Odd," I tell him, trying to keep things more serious.
Inside the Supercomputer room
We reach the room with the chairs from earlier. We float our way over to the tube with the water in it. We reach the pipe that's connected to the tube.
"I hope they got insurance!" Odd exclaims, holding a hammer he got from one of the boxes that hadn't been blown out into deep space. My eyes widen he's about to hit the pipe when a better idea comes to mind.
"Hang on Odd!" I exclaim. Odd stops, mid swing, and looks at me.
"Huh, but why?" he asks.
"I have a better idea," I reply. Putting my hands over the pipe, I start channeling my ice powers. My amulet glows and my hands start getting colder. I grip my hands onto the pipe, and the pipe starts freezing.
"Lila what are you planning exactly?" Jeremy asks.
"You'll see!" I exclaim and the pipe freezes entirely. I start seeing cracks form within the ice and around the pipe.
"Oh, I get it! It looks like it's about to burst!" Yumi exclaims.
"That's right," I say. The pipe bursts and the ice falls apart, the pipe cracking. The water from the pipe starts expanding, within a few seconds bubbles of water come out of it.
They float over to the supercomputer that currently has the red eye of Xana symbol on it. The bubbles of water start short circuiting the supercomputer.
"It's working, Einstein," Odd informs, letting go of the hammer. "Nice one Lila," Odd compliments.
"Thanks, this way it'll look less conspicuous," I tell them.
"Makes sense in retrospect," Yumi agrees.
"It's going to blow," Jeremy tells us. "Deenergize Odd, Deenergize Yumi, Deenergize Lila."
The supercomputer explodes and the three of us are sent back by the blast.
Back Inside the NavSkid
POV Sissi's
William and I had been fighting Mia. We're in our NavSkids now and Lila reappears in her seat. I smile in relief. I look at Mia through our glass window, she's holding her whip since she's been trying to paralyze Aelita with it. Thankfully for us, she didn't succeed, even though she managed to knock Aelita unconscious earlier with a sneak attack. Aelita shakes her head and gets up slowly as Mia summons black smoke to her hand. She throws it at Aelita and it knocks her out again. Mia starts bringing Aelita closer to her.
Come on, Lila, get up! I think. As if she heard my plea, Lila starts waking up.
Outside the NavSkid
POV Lila's
Yumi, Odd, and I are sent outside our NavSkids. We see Mia moving Aelita along a hallway that most likely leads out of the replika's core zone. But not on our watch. I take my bow off its hook, and put an arrow on it. I pull my drawstring back, Odd and Yumi get ready to launch their attacks too. Mia is about to start running, her whip in her free hand, but Odd fires off one of his Laser Arrows.
I release my arrow. Our weapons fly at Mia, hitting her in the back twice. She bends down and lowers the hand that was focused on levitating Aelita. Aelita drops to the floor.
Odd cocks his paw again. He fires off another Laser Arrow and Yumi takes her Tessen Fans out and opens them.
"Get away from her, you hear?!" she exclaims. Yumi throws her Tessen Fans one by one. Mia uses her black smoke ability to change weapons. She exchanges her whip for her kunai. She uses her kunai together to reflect the one Tessen Fan nearly hitting her.
Mia doesn't have time to react to Yumi's other Tessen Fan, though, and that does hit her. Mia's thrown off balance, and I load another arrow onto my bow. Both of Yumi's Tessen Fans return to her, she catches them and closes them.
I pull my drawstring back.
Odd cocks his paw, and Mia regains her balance. She starts running at us, her kunai in both of her hands now. I release my arrow and Odd fires several Laser Arrows at Mia. Mia is pushed back and thrown to the floor. She loses her kunai. She gets up, looks at us, then starts running to the edge of the bridge that we're on. She backs all the way up, and takes one last look at us before jumping off.
"I don't want to be a pain. If I were you, I'd get out of there and fast."
Inside the NavSkid
We're brought back inside our Nav Skids. I plop down on my chair and strap myself in.
"Okay, everyone is onboard. Here we go," Aelita says.
The Skid disembarks from the tower. We start flying out of the core zone.
Afterwards
Digital Sea
The Skid exits the tunnel, the "portal" opens and the turbos on since we're leaving in a hurry.
The Skid heads further away from the replika, so we can get away from the explosion.
"That's one less replika," Jeremy sighs in relief.
"Yup, definitely can't wait to get back to the room," William says.
"And I can't wait to see my diggity dog," Odd adds.
Sissi and I look at each other. We smile.
Afterwards
Mary's House
POV Mary's
I didn't want to freak Kiwi out by leaving him by himself, or changing into my regular human form, so I'm still posing as Mia. Kiwi is resting comfortably on my couch.
There's a knock on the door.
That must be Della Robbia and Ishiyama, Future Xana tells me.
"Right, I'll get the door," I say.
Kiwi wakes up as I get up and open the door. Sure enough, it's Odd and Yumi.
"Kiwi, I'm here boy!" Odd exclaims, running over to him.
Kiwi barks happily. Yumi and I look at the two of them. Kiwi is on his back and Odd is giving him a belly rub.
"How was your mission?" I ask.
"Good, going to space was incredible," Yumi replies. My eyes widen.
"How did Lila react to that?" I ask.
"She found it breathtaking," Yumi replies.
I smile. Experiences really do matter.
Lila and Aelita's Room
"Space?!" Kayori exclaims into the phone. I pull it away, then bring it back to my ear again.
"Kayori, I know it's surprising, but lower your voice," I tell her,
"We made it look like an accident so no one knows about the supercomputer."
"Oh, sorry," she whispers. "It's just… you got to go up there. And see the Earth…"
"I know," I smile.
"It's a view I'll never forget."
Author's Note: Paladin777 came up with the idea for Lila freezing the pipe!
