Now that Seth knows the whole Truth about Sasha and Roman, the Shield have a very difficult decision to make. With the New Year just around the corner, DX do everything they can to stop things from getting out of control.
Chapter Nineteen – Code Black
Smackdown, DX Makeshift Office, Madison Square Garden
When the three wrestlers entered DX's makeshift office they saw Stephanie McMahon and Bayley sitting near Sasha who was still asleep. Seth and Alexa looked at Stephanie, she had a very stern look on her face and she was holding something in her hand. Seth's eyes went from Stephanie to Bayley, who once again was wearing his Sasha's Jimmy Choo's despite Seth repeatedly telling her not to wear his wife's shoes.
"What are you two doing in here?" Alexa asked Stephanie and Bayley. "Is this about the fire?"
"Your damn right it's about the fire," Stephanie said and Bianca glared at Bayley.
"You told her?!" Bianca said and Bayley looked down at her feet admiring her shoes not saying a word.
Stephanie was less inclined to be quiet, "You leave Bayley out of this, you made your bed E S T. I told you hanging out with these idiots was going to ruin your career, well after I've done talking to Hunter, all of your careers are going to be finished," Stephanie said.
Seth put his hands up to calm things down, "What did Bayley tell you Steph?" he asked.
"She told me that Roman's wife Galina started the fire that burned down my hotel and that Dean Ambrose helped her do it!" Stephanie said and Bianca balled her fists up enraged at Bayley's actions.
"Yeah but did she tell you why?" Seth asked.
"I don't care why Seth, the fact is that she did it and Mrs Reigns is going to jail for a very long time, unless...," Stephanie said and Seth sighed. "Unless" was never good when it came out of the mouth of Stephanie McMahon.
"Unless what?" Seth said.
"Unless you join me in my bid to take NXT away from DX," Stephanie said and Seth shook his head.
"I'm not betraying Hunter, I can't do it Steph," Seth said and Stephanie got to her feet and stepped closer to Seth, Bianca and Alexa.
"Are you sure about that Rollins?" she asked and Seth nodded while Alexa and Bianca zoned in on the picture in Steph's hand.
"What the Hell?" Bianca said zooming in on the picture. "What the Hell is that?!"
Bianca reached for the picture but Stephanie held it away from her with a cruel smirk.
"Why don't you tell us what this is Seth?" Stephanie said and she turned the picture around so Seth could see what it was. Alexa's eyes bugged out at the image on the paper.
"Seth what the Hell is this?!" Alexa asked horrified and Seth held his head as he looked at the photo the Damsels of Destruction had taken of him and Bayley at the Marriott in Stamford. He had Bayley up against the wall with his hands wrapped around her feet. He was removing his wife's shoes but the way the picture was taken it looked like he was doing something much worse.
"Everyone get out, Bianca, Alexa I need to talk to Stephanie and Bayley," Seth said and Alexa covered her face in distress. Bianca comforted her; she knew the Truth and Alexa needed to be re-assured that the picture was not what it seemed.
"It's not what it looks like," she assured Alexa before turning to Seth. "I'll be right outside, don't do or say anything stupid,"
"Yes ma'am," Seth said as Bianca and Alexa left the Prayer Warrior alone with the two women who were trying to frame him. "Okay let's talk, how do I make this all go away?" Seth asked Stephanie.
"By giving me what I wanted before my hotel got burned down," Stephanie replied. "I told you to stay out of my business Seth but Roman's wife burning down my hotel with Dean Ambrose is the last straw. Now either you join me or I show Hunter this incriminating photo of you assaulting Bayley at the Marriott in Stamford,"
"That's not what happened," Seth said and he turned to Bayley, "Is it Bayley? Why don't you tell her what really happened that night?"
"It doesn't matter what really happened Seth, all that matters is that it looks like you were assaulting me. It's not my fault you've got this crazy obsession with your wife's shoes, now you have a chance to make things right. Just join us and this photo will never see the light of day," Bayley said.
"That photo doesn't show anything but you doing what you're always doing and that's trying to form a wedge between me and my wife," Seth replied.
"I don't think Hunter will see it that way though Seth, look at this; you've got Bayley pushed up against the wall with your hands wrapped around her legs. Not a good look for a DX Superstar, especially a highly respected locker room leader like yourself," Stephanie said.
Seth locked his jaw so nothing stupid came out of it; he was trapped. No matter what he said it wouldn't change the fact that Stephanie was going to lie just to get her way but what really hurt him was the fact that Bayley was willing to help her do it. He looked at Bayley with pity shaking his head and he gestured to his beautiful sleeping wife who had no idea what was going on.
"I always wondered just how far you would go to get back at me for marrying Sasha instead of you. Well now I know but it won't change a thing Bayley because you are still not going to get what you want. You wanna frame me and trash my name, you go right ahead because the Truth always comes out," Seth said and Bayley shrugged.
"That might not be for awhile Seth. As of right now you are officially unfit for society. When Steph shows Hunter that photo, she'll tell Hunter to fire you or she'll turn the photo back over to the Damsels of Destruction and they will make sure the press massacre you. You'll never work as a professional wrestler ever again. And that's not all Seth," Bayley said and she glanced back at Sasha, "You won't be allowed anywhere near your wife, I'll make it seem like you're dangerous toward women and I'll demand you be separated from her. You'll never see Sasha again, now you think about that and re-consider Steph's offer," Bayley said.
Seth gritted his teeth, "You got me," he said calmly, "but I stand by my decision, now get the Hell out of here,"
Bayley looked at Seth pleadingly, "Are you sure you wanna do this? Are you willing to risk everything? When Steph goes to Hunter your career will be over, is Sasha really worth that?" she asked desperately.
Seth grinned, "She's my wife Bayley and you will never walk in her shoes, as much as you want to be her, you will never be Sasha Banks," he said confidently and Bayley grinned right back at him.
"Enjoy your New Year as a nobody Seth because that's exactly what you're going to be in 2024," Bayley said and she turned to Steph, "Let's give him another 24 hours to think about it before you go to Hunter,"
"Alright, you got one day Seth. I suggest you ask God for another way out of this mess your Shield brothers created. You must be tired of cleaning up their messes by now. Working for me would be a paid vacation compared to hanging out with those two loose cannons," Stephanie said and she left with Bayley leaving Seth alone with his wife and his thoughts.
"Bayley, I think you forgot something," Seth said and Bayley turned back to him from the door.
"Oh where are my manners?" Bayley said and she walked back over to Seth and gave him a hug. "There you go, feel better?" she said with a smile.
Seth's face tightened as she imitated her old self and as she walked away he held onto her and loosened the straps of his wife's shoes from her feet. Bayley stood in front of him her naked feet pressed against the cold floor.
"The last time I got cold feet I fell in love with you, I take this as a sign of things to come," Bayley said and she kissed Seth on the cheek before tiptoeing out of the makeshift office with Steph.
Bianca and Alexa came back inside as they left and walked over to Seth to find out what happened. Seth was sitting next to Sasha with his phone in his hand.
"What happened, what did they say to you?" Bianca asked Seth.
"One sec I just need to send a quick message to Becky Lynch," Seth said and Bianca and Alexa looked over at his phone.
"Code Black?" Bianca said and Alexa's face turned pale. "What does that mean?"
Alexa gulped; she knew exactly what it meant.
"Anyone who receives a text that says 'code black' must do whatever the sender says to do with no questions asked," Alexa said and Bianca read the message Seth was sending to Becky Lynch.
Seth's phone rang a few seconds later, it was Becky. "What the Hell did Bayley do?" she asked him.
"Just do it," Seth replied and he hung up and cuddled up next to Sasha while Bianca and Alexa exchanged glances.
"Should we even try to reason with him?" Bianca said and Alexa shook her head. Now that the Man was involved there was no coming back. Bayley was about to get her Black Hearted butt kicked Lass Kicker style.
"Well that settles it, bye-bye Bayley and Happy New Year to the rest of us!" Alexa Bliss said and Bianca gave Seth a questioning look. The Prayer Warrior looked peaceful lying next to his wife, even though the grace and mercy extended to Bayley thus far was about to come to a violent end.
