Now that Seth knows the whole Truth about Sasha and Roman, the Shield have a very difficult decision to make. With the New Year just around the corner, DX do everything they can to stop things from getting out of control.
Chapter Twenty – Separated by Evil
The Sheraton, Brooklyn, New York City, New York
The next morning Bianca Belair called the Shield, Alexa and Seth and Sasha Rollins to her hotel suite to talk about the Code Black that Seth had sent to Becky Lynch. Now that Bianca knew what it was she was adamant that it be cancelled right away. What Bianca didn't understand about Code Black was that once it was sent, it had to be fulfilled. The sender could not cancel it and the recipient had to carry out it no matter what.
When the Shield found out that Seth had sent a Code Black to Becky Lynch, they were not as eager for it to be cancelled. As far as the Shield was concerned, Bayley had it coming for a long time.
That wasn't the only problem Seth had this morning; he had one day to decide if he was going to join Stephanie in her bid to take NXT away from DX, or Stephanie and Bayley would frame him for assault. When the Shield found out about the blackmail they stood by Seth's side, even though his stance meant that he would lose what he had worked so hard for over the last decade.
"Bayley really meant it when she said she would stop at nothing to get you by the end of the year," Roman said. "She wrote it in her diary, she actually wrote "I will be with Seth Rollins before the end of the year,""
The Shield sat around a huge breakfast table set up in Bianca's hotel room suite eating a healthy combination of egg, fish and vegetables. Sasha did not feel like eating, what Seth told her about Bayley turned her stomach. Seth squeezed her hand.
"Come on baby you have to eat," he consoled his wife who was miserable after hearing that Bayley was framing her husband.
Dean and Roman could see that she was distressed even though she looked like a cover girl, the Boss could not hide her pain behind her glamorous get up like normal. Her pain at Bayley's actions were palpable.
"I really thought we'd turned a corner," she said to everyone as Alexa buttered her an English muffin. "Things were so good and now here we go again, only this time it's worse because of this photo of you allegedly assaulting her,"
"Well in a few hours, there will be a very real assault on Bayley," Dean Ambrose said and Bianca twirled her Braid nervously.
"How bad is this Code Black going to be?" she asked and Alexa looked at her fork while Seth encouraged his wife to eat. To Alexa it was like looking at herself in the mirror; Sasha was losing her appetite and it made the Blissful One feel so sad; she knew what it felt like not wanting to eat, only Sasha had to eat for two.
"If I know Becky, she'll make sure that Bayley's own father won't be able to recognize her," Alexa said and Bianca covered her mouth in horror. "The thing about the Code Black is that no-one will ever be able to trace it back to the person who authorised it, it will just seem like a freak attack,"
"Even the police can't investigate the Code Black," Roman Reigns said and he smiled as Sasha finally took a bite of the English muffin. "At a girl Sasha,"
Sasha rolled her eyes at everyone's concern; the New Year was few days away and then in a few months, she'd be having her first child. Instead of sharing the precious experience with Seth, now she was sharing it with the entire Shield and it was awkward to say the least. Now instead of Seth fussing over her, she had Roman and Dean fussing over her too, not to mention the entire DX family. She couldn't wait to get out of New York City and go back to LA with Seth and put all the traumatic experiences of NYC behind her one more time.
"I'm fine guys really, I had a really good sleep last night and I've got a spot open for a new best friend now that Bayley's shown her true colours," Sasha said and she looked down at her plate sadly, "I would love for this to all just stop and for us to all just be friends again,"
"As long as Steph is feuding with DX over NXT, Bayley's always going to be a pawn in her little game," Dean Ambrose said.
Sasha looked at Ambrose, "What about you huh? Do you still hate me for sleeping with Roman and having his baby?" she asked the Lunatic Fringe.
"Any friend of Seth's is a friend of mine. I'm not going to come between you and your happiness Sasha, if Seth makes you happy, then you should be together. I wish someone would explain that to Bayley," Dean said. "I underestimated that girl, Bayley is not letting up for a second. She's as crazy about Seth as she was when at the start of the year. I mean, look at how far she's willing to go to drive you two apart. If I didn't hate her so much I'd admire her for her determination,"
Alexa narrowed her eyes at Ambrose, "So what you're really saying is that you're glad Seth still has options, right?"
Bianca laughed, "Bayley is not an option, she's a caution. Seth, you've been warned," the Women's Champion said and Seth gave Belair a fist-bump in agreement with her comments on Bayley.
Seth had zero interest let alone admiration for Bayley and his disdain for her gave Bianca a really bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. It wasn't like Seth to want to see someone get hurt but the Code Black guaranteed that Bayley would be tremendously hurt.
"Seth, you said that you wanted to tell me how you really felt about Roman and Sasha having a baby together when we were at the Ortons. Why don't you tell everyone here how you really feel on the inside? It might be good if you don't let any of your emotions fester, so you don't go and do something stupid like, oh I don't know, ask Becky Lynch to carry out a freakin hit on Bayley?!" Bianca said.
Seth looked at Bianca not wanting to speak but bottling up his emotions was detrimental and no-one had any idea just how much he was keeping to himself since he found out Sasha was having Roman's baby and not his.
"Okay," he said removing his arm from around Sasha.
"Start with why you think that Sasha's nasty," Bianca said and Alexa almost choked on her water while Sasha gave Seth an indignant look.
"I'm nasty?" she asked in disbelief.
Seth nodded, "You had unprotected sex with a married man. A few days later you asked me out and made out with me in the hotel parking lot that same day. A few days after that you wanted to have sex with me before we even got married. After we got married we had sex in twelve outside locations, including the bathroom floor of a Harvard dorm while being videotaped, albeit without consent thanks to Bayley. The jury's back Sasha, the verdict's in. You nasty," Seth said and Dean and Roman laughed as Seth burned his wife who was now pouting with her arms crossed. "Before you came along, Roman was a happily married man with no interest in other women, when you tried to help him feel better about himself, that all changed and now you're pregnant with his child. Sasha Banks, you nasty,"
"Burn!" Roman said and everyone laughed as Seth roasted his wife, who was not amused at her husband's honesty. Seth didn't care how she felt because he felt a lot better saying it out loud and he wasn't finished yet.
"Marrying you that night in New York City was such a mistake, we should have dated for like a year at least. I should have left you at the altar and stayed in my hotel room closet praying to God for wisdom after I said the Sinner's Prayer. Then I would have gotten to know you a bit better before I walked down the aisle. I mean I know there was no aisle because we got married at midnight at the hotel that Galina burned down but still, Randy was right. We got married way too soon and now it's clear why you wanted to marry me."
Sasha rolled her eyes and huffed shaking her head and Seth leaned forward, "I was your plan b, your backup plan, I'm the next best thing to Roman. If he was single instead of me, we wouldn't even be together, in fact I don't even think you'd give me a second glance. I'm just your plan b, the guy you chose when the guy you really wanted wasn't available. I mean you still slept with him even though he was married, no wonder you and Bayley are best friends. Bayley won't let my wedding ring stop her either, she'll spend the rest of her life trying to get me to fall in love with her. The problem is that Bayley doesn't understand that I actually did love you more than I loved her. When I married you I was freshly dumped and I enrolled in the 2023 class at Rebound City. Maybe I couldn't see the danger signs that Ambrose saw or that Randy warned me about. Maybe that's why I never told Hunter I was going to marry you. Maybe deep down inside I didn't want to marry you at all, maybe I just wanted to stop hurting over Roman having cancer, or Mac breaking up with me over my friendship with you and Roman. Maybe if I waited a little bit longer I would have seen things a bit more clearly. I realise now that I've been in second place all along, you have never put me first. If its not to your career than its to Roman. There's always something ahead of me but I love you so much, I just have to stay ahead of the game. That's the life of a man that's constantly in second place to the Big Dog and now this runner up is going to be raising your big bastard son," Seth said and the room was in stunned silence.
Eventually Alexa started a slow clap, "Bravo Seth, I couldn't have said it better myself," she said empathically.
E S T was grinning from ear-to-ear, "Feels good to get it all out doesn't it?" she asked Seth who nodded.
"Yeah, it really does. I feel great!" he said feeling ten tonnes lighter now that he had gotten all his resentment of Roman and Sasha's nasty actions off of his chest.
He ate the rest of his wife's English muffin with a smile, "Roman and Sasha are nasty and I deserve so much better, like soooo much better. But that's the life of a runner up, we're always striving for perfection and we end up in second place because we're in love with two of the best ever in the world. I might not be a Big Dog or a Boss but I'm a damn good husband and friend and I hope you two both realise that," Seth said to Roman and Sasha who nodded fervently that they did.
"We do Seth," Roman said and Sasha wiped tears from her eyes as Seth ate the rest of her muffin.
"You know I'm pregnant right? Are you really just gonna sit there and eat the rest of my muffin?" Sasha snapped at Seth.
Seth reached across the table and placed the full basket of muffins in front of his wife, "All for you my love. I think I've eaten my last muffin, if you know what I mean," he said and he got up and left the table, leaving Sasha fuming and Alexa with her mouth open.
"I know exactly what he means, you ain't getting laid for a long time Bossy!" Alexa said and she went after Seth with Bianca Belair while Sasha pulsed with rage. She lifted her leg and kicked the basket of muffins off of the beautifully arranged breakfast table, leaving Dean and Roman with more than muffins to clean up now that Seth had finally said what was on his mind.
"I can't wait til this year is over. Next year has got to be better than this," Roman said to Dean who looked at Seth's angry wife and then over at Sasha's optimistic baby father.
"I think that's highly unlikely," Dean replied and he called Renee and told her to get the spare bedroom ready. He had a feeling Seth was going to be staying over at their place in Las Vegas a lot next year.
