Now that Seth knows the whole Truth about Sasha and Roman, the Shield have a very difficult decision to make. With the New Year just around the corner, DX do everything they can to stop things from getting out of control.
Chapter Twenty Five – LA Times
The Rock's Mansion, Los Angeles, CA
Galina Reigns sent Seth Rollins a fruit basket that was proudly sitting on the Rock's island in the kitchen. It had at least twelve different fruits, some exotic some domestic but all of them were sent with love. The basket came with a note telling Seth how special he was and that he was going to be a wonderful father to Sasha's baby. The note showed that Galina and Roman supported Seth and Sasha and no matter what happened, the Reigns family would always have his back.
Seth and Sasha were still in bed having come back from Cairo exhausted and in need of rest. The Rock read the note on the fruit basket and smiled to himself as he waited for the young couple to wake up. The entire wrestling world and even some of Hollywood was talking about Roman and Sasha's illegitimate child and Stephanie McMahon was coming over to put the final nail in the coffin.
After seeing the photo of Seth and Bayley at the Stamford Marriott and reading the note from Galina Reigns, Rocky didn't know what to think. If Galina could write such a beautiful note to Seth Rollins, how could he be the same guy that Stephanie said assaulted Bayley in Connecticut? There was only one thing the Rock could do and that was to talk to Seth himself man-to-man about everything; about Roman, about Sasha and about Bayley.
Hunter wanted to talk to him too, the Architect was in hot demand this morning and the one person who needed to talk to him was hiding out with Becky Lynch in New Jersey blasting her husband for telling everyone in the locker room that Sasha was pregnant for Roman Reigns, not Seth.
Rocky surveyed the fruit basket; he saw pomegranates, kiwis, pineapples, oranges, peaches, grapes, raspberries, strawberries, bananas, papayas, it was quite the selection of fruit.
"This is the most beautiful fruit basket I have ever seen," Rocky said as Hunter came over to the People's Champ and sat opposite him in the kitchen. "Seth has a way with women both single and married,"
Hunter looked at the photo Stephanie had sent to Rocky. His ex-wife had finally lost it, even though it was never a guarantee that she had it. There was no way Seth assaulted Bayley but given what came out about Roman and Sasha this morning, it didn't matter if the photo of Seth and Bayley was bogus. It was incriminating enough to raise suspicion of Seth's state of mind over the past week. With the revelation of Roman and Sasha's baby coming to light overnight, it could easily be argued that Seth assaulted Bayley over what happened with Roman and Sasha. Stephanie could spin it a number of ways, no matter how she spun it, the likelihood of Seth keeping his job at DX Inc was getting narrower by the second.
Rocky saw things differently; he saw the photo as a way to bring Seth and Sasha even closer. After speaking to his cousin, Rocky now knew that Bayley had strong feelings for Seth Rollins, even though Seth was completely in love with his wife. If anything the photo proved just how far Seth was willing to go to keep Bayley away from his wife and he had a solution that would hopefully help everyone out.
Hunter raised his eyes over the fruit basket, "Where'd the fruit basket come from?" he asked the Rock.
"Roman's wife Galina. Its for Seth to show him how much they support him and Sasha. Hell of a fruit basket am I right?" Rocky said and Hunter looked down at his phone in silence. A moment later the Game spoke.
"When I woke up this morning I had a perfect plan to prove that my ex-wife was lying through her teeth about this photo of Seth and Bayley. Now, thanks to your cousin, I don't know if there's anything I can do to stop her from taking the company away from me. I can hear her voice right now; she's saying Roman's affair with Sasha has cast a pall on the company and the Board will require strong leadership to keep the stock from plummeting. She'll be running the company in no time. This is a mess," Hunter said.
"Where's your faith?" Rocky asked with a smile, "you don't believe that Seth would hurt Bayley and neither do I. It is so obvious that Stephanie used Bayley to engineer this scandal to use as ammunition against you and Shawn. Surely you're not going to let her get away with this are you?" Rocky said and Hunter sighed rubbing the back of his head.
"You've been away for a long time Rocky, do you have any idea how much stuff Shawn and I have to deal with? We can't deal with running the company and protect its reputation at the same time. We kinda hoped the talent would do that but with Becky getting released from prison and Sasha having Roman's baby, I don't know how to control all of this chaos. I'm just trying to line up the final card for Wrestlemania, among other things," Hunter said referring to his son's engagement to Charlene MacKenzie.
"This is what it takes to be the new Vince McMahon. Vince never slept," Rocky said.
"Now I know why. How the Hell am I supposed to put out all these fires and still build up the next four months of TV?" Hunter said. "I'm used to dealing with drama within my own family but the talent has really done a number on Shawn and I this year. It's too much Rocky; I'm going to have to terminate Seth and Sasha's contracts,"
"What?!" Shawn said coming over to Rocky and Hunter with a cup holder full of freshly brewed Starbucks coffee. "Are you out of your mind, you can't do that Hunter. They're about to start a family!"
"They've made a fortune off of us over the last ten years Shawn, I think they'll be okay. I just don't think we can make this go away without setting an example for the rest of the locker room. Seth and Sasha should have conducted themselves better, how are we supposed to explain all this to the Board of Directors on Monday?" Hunter said and Shawn gave Rocky and Hunter their coffee and pulled up a stool next to his business partner.
"What happened between Roman and Sasha has nothing to do with business. They had an affair and Sasha got pregnant, that has got nothing to do with their on-air personalities. We have got to treat them like human beings that we care about and not some disposable talent that got a little reckless in the bedroom," Shawn said and Hunter sighed.
"Shawn please don't make this personal. Wrestlemania is just around the corner; we've got sponsors and city officials that we need to do business with. How can we do business when people think that our top talent are immoral home-wrecking morons?" Hunter said.
"If it wasn't for immoral home-wrecking morons the Attitude Era would never have existed. You're being such a hypocrite," Shawn said. "We can't make a business decision based on our talent's indiscretion. Seth and Sasha work hard year in and year out, we have to support them not punish them. We don't even know if Seth put his hands on Bayley at the Stamford Marriott, the photo is very circumspect,"
"I was just about to tell Dwayne that Stephanie is going to spin it so there will be too much doubt to clear Seth's name and with this thing with Roman and Sasha coming out, it puts everyone under a black cloud. I love Seth and Sasha but this is too much mess for us to deal with in the New Year. I'm sorry Shawn but they're both out and that's what we have to tell the Board on Monday if we want to save our company from Stephanie McMahon," Hunter said and Shawn was disgusted.
"Stephanie hasn't lost it, you've lost it. I'm standing with Seth and Sasha and I don't care what the Board has to say about it," Seth said and he drank his coffee seething while Hunter looked at the Rock for his perspective.
"I still think you can spin this so it's not as bad as Stephanie wants to make it out to be. Galina just sent Seth Rollins this beautiful fruit basket, why don't you get her to talk to the Board on Seth's behalf? If the Board knows that she's standing by her husband and she supports Seth and Sasha, they'll know that no serious damage has been done and that the company's reputation is still intact," Rocky said.
"Galina burned down the Enigmatic Hotel, I don't think she'll make a good character witness," Hunter said and Rocky gasped.
"She burned down Steph and Jeff's hotel?!" Rocky said. "Okay you're screwed. I'm sorry Shawn but Hunter's right; the Board are going to see you make a tough decision about Seth and Sasha Rollins,"
"I don't care about the Board, I care about Seth and Sasha and the baby they're going to have in a few short months, that's what I care about," Shawn said.
"So you're okay if Steph just takes the company from us, is that what you're saying Shawn?" Hunter said.
"Can we just not make any decisions until we've spoken to everyone? Let's talk to Roman, Seth and Sasha and find out what's going on with them. Rocky you can talk to Bayley and Stephanie and find out what's going on with them. People are more important than business Hunter and as a Christian, I have a responsibility that goes beyond the boardroom. I have a responsibility to make sure that they are all alright outside of the ring," Shawn said.
"And as much as I love them Shawn, I have a responsibility to ensure the legacy of my children and the DX family. I won't let anyone screw that up, I've worked too damn long and too damn hard to see everything that's we've built over the last twenty five years go up in a puff of blue smoke," Hunter said and the three men turned as Seth and Sasha came into the kitchen looking every bit the lovebirds that they were when they first got married.
The Black and Blue Connection was more in love than ever and not even the sour look on Hunter's face could bring them down.
"Morning guys I hope you slept well after your romantic trip around the world," Hunter said as Sasha hugged the Rock and Shawn while Seth went to make breakfast for his wife.
"Don't worry twitter brought us back down to reality," Seth said getting some eggs out of the People's Refrigerator.
Stephanie and Bayley arrived at the house and Rocky got up to buzz them in. After seeing the fruit basket and Seth and Sasha first thing in the morning, Rocky had made up his mind and he was going to put his idea out there for Seth to hear. As far as the Brahma Bull was concerned, it was the only chance Seth had of saving his career after Hunter terminated his contract.
The Boss would be okay she'd already made a hit Hollywood movie with himself and John Cena. She was certain to land on her feet she had a very bright future in LA, Seth's future was clearly in God's hands now that Hunter was about to wash his cerebral hands of Seth altogether. The Bonehead's mind was made up but the Brain, Hayworth Helmsley, wasn't about to see Seth lose out to Stephanie McMahon on New Year's Eve.
ATM: Bonehead and the Brain will continue in Red or Dead.
