"Percy, why is there an owl sitting in the window staring at me?" Draco asked, staring back at the feathery brown bird. He had opened the window to get some fresh air into the house. The owl had just flown in and landed.

"Because he has your Christmas present?" Percy suggested, glancing over at the owl quickly to confirm what he already suspected.

"Christmas is three days away," Draco commented as he reached out and took the lumpy parcel from the owl. It was wrapped in brown paper and tied with a cream colored piece of twine. Draco frowned at it. It didn't look like much and he didn't see a return address on it anywhere. It was also kind of soft and didn't smell like anything other than the cold December air.

"I know, but I wanted to make sure you had this before then," Percy replied, stirring the pot sitting on the stove as it started boiling. Percy had taken to making dinner for Draco most nights since Draco was apparently hopeless at cooking his own food. Percy was glad his mum had taught him and his siblings to cook at an early age. So far, Draco could make toast and even then it was half burned most of the time.

"Am I supposed to open it now or put it under the tree?" Draco asked, still studying the parcel. Percy watched him, wondering what Draco would think about what was inside the parcel. Percy had asked for it be specially made just for Draco. He was certain Draco had no idea what Percy was planning. Percy hoped he'd managed to keep that much from Draco. They often had the same ideas about things. Sometimes Percy wondered if the hat had been right about placing him in Slytherin, he'd, of course, argued with it for Gryffindor. If he'd been a Slytherin, he and Draco might have gotten together sooner.

"Now would be alright," Percy stated, holding his breath as he watched Draco walk over to the kitchen table and sit down with the parcel. He untied the twine causing the paper to fall open to reveal green and silver wrapping paper with white bells printed on it. There was also a silvery bow and a thin green ribbon decorating the gift. Percy smiled as Draco seemed to grow a little more excited seeing the Slytherin inspired wrapping paper.

Draco pulled off the to from tag and looked at it.

"From Percy," he read, giving Percy a smile. Percy returned it and nodded to the present. It was still slightly lumpy. Slowly Draco opened the wrapping paper, popping the tape holding it shut. He tilted the package causing it to spill the woven green contents. Draco blinked in confusion before picking the object up and holding it up. It unfolded in his hands revealing it was, in fact, a knitted jumper. The jumper was green with a silvery D embroidered in the middle. Draco turned to Percy.

"It's a jumper," he stated, his voice full of confusion. "A Weasley jumper," he added, about to point out he was not a Weasley, despite the fact he and Percy had been dating for almost two years now.

"Do you like the colors?" Percy asked, biting his lip nervously. He put a slight statis spell on the pot on the stove, it wouldn't do any good for it to boil over and ruin things.

"I do, but I don't-" Draco started to say. He was interrupted by Percy kneeling down on one knee in front of him.

"Draco, I know when we first met, we hated each other for reasons. I know this road together hasn't always been smooth, or easy, but you've stuck by me through everything. I stuck by you through the worst times in your life, and I want to be by your side for the rest of eternity, so Draco Malfoy, would you do me the honor of marrying me?" Percy asked, looking up at Draco with hopeful brown eyes. He slid a small black ring box from his inner jacket pocket, popped it open and held it out to Draco. The silvery ring shimmered in the light. Draco set the jumper back on the table and turned to Percy, an expression of disbelief crossing his face.

"Percy, my darling Percy, you always were the more ambitious of us two, and not for the first time you've managed to beat me to doing something," Draco laughed, sliding a silvery box from his own pocket. "I was going ask you on Christmas Day, but since you've decided today is better, I have the same question for you, Percy," he stated, opening the box to reveal a similar colored ring but this one was set with an emerald in the center. Percy stared at the ring and then looked back at Draco. Slowly, the pair exchanged ring boxes, slipping the rings on. Draco pulled Percy to his feet, bringing him closer to him.

"Great minds," he commented as Percy kissed him, an expression of love Draco eagerly returned. The kiss lasted a few minutes, neither man wanting to be the first to end it. Finally, they broke apart, wide smiles on their faces.

"Great minds," Percy agreed. "Now, please tell me you're going to wear the jumper for Christmas dinner at the Burrow?" he asked. Draco burst out laughing.

"That's how you want to tell your mum? With a jumper?" he asked.

"She made it, so I think she already knows," Percy commented, crossing the small kitchen to return to making dinner. He took the spell off the pot and continued stirring the contents. Draco laughed.

"Just wait until my parents hear about this," Draco said, admiring the ring. "Maybe I should wear the jumper to dinner at the Manor too," he commented, causing Percy to smile.

"Yes, I'm sure your father will hear all about this," Percy laughed as Draco joined him at the stove, giving him another kiss. Percy wrapped an arm around Draco's waist, kissing him back.

"I'll set the table," Draco offered, grabbing the plates as Percy finished making dinner for the couple, both still shaking their heads at how they'd had the same idea. Great minds indeed.
