Chapter 3: The Mysterious Island
Meanwhile, the Gang of Seven was making their way to find more food by themselves. They were stomping their feet in the ground really hard so they footmarks on the ground for the grown-ups to follow. However, Petrie had to lift Ducky into the air so she can stomp her feet in the ground too.
"This is so stupid." Said Cera. "Why do we have to walk like this?"
"We want them to follow us don't we? So we gotta make good tracks." Littlefoot answered. "Now hurry up or they'll find us before we find any green food or Scaly Swimmers."
"Me just hope they find us before something else does." Said Petrie.
"Something else? Like what?" Ducky asked.
Just then, Chomper ended up falling into a bigger footmark. A Fast-biter footmark.
"Like the Fast-biter that made this?" He asked in fare.
That got Ducky and Petrie to scream as they ran until they bumped into Ruby.
"Oh don't worry." She said to them. "There's nothing to be afraid of. Because the thing that we're supposed to be afraid of went that way."
Everyone turned to the path of footmarks she was talking about. They were leading over to three Smoking Mountains on the right.
"Yes. But what if it come back?" Petrie asked.
"Then it's gonna have to deal with me." Said Cera.
"That settles it. I am going back." Ducky said as she was about head back. But Littlefoot stopped her and said,
"No. Can't you see? We can't go back. It's up to us now. The only way we can keep the herds together is to find enough food for us all."
"I do not mind finding food. But I do not want to be food. No."
"Me nether. But," However, Littlefoot was cut off by Spike sniffing the air. "What is Spike? Can you smell something?"
"Hey." Chomper said as he sniffed the air as well. "I smell it too."
"Me three." Said Petrie.
"So do I." Said Cera.
"I can smell it to. Yes I can." Said Ducky.
"Even I have a smell. I smell even I have." Said Ruby.
Littlefoot then took a sniff. "I smell it too. It smells like...water."
"You're right." Said Chomper. "There could be some scaly-swimmers there. And where there's water, you guys might also have some,"
"Green food." The others finished.
"It must be right over this hill." Littlefoot said as he lead the gang up a sandy hill.
"I knew this would work." Said Cera.
"We'll be heroes. Heroes we will be." Said Ruby.
"Me just hear grown-ups now." Said Petrie.
"Me too." Said Ducky. Just as she acted like one. "How have you kids managed to find so much,"
But before she could finish, she and the others were in for a surprise as they reached the top.
"Water?" She asked in shock.
In front of them was a huge body of water that went on for miles and miles.
"I've never seen such big water in my whole life." Said Littlefoot.
"I didn't know there was such big water." Said Cera.
"Just looking at it is making me thirsty." Said Chomper.
"Well what are we waiting for?" Littlefoot asked. "Who wants a drink?"
Nobody had to answer. All of them ran to the water as they stepped into it.
"This is biggest water ever." Said Cera.
But the moment they took a sip,
"Blah!"
The water did not taste very good. They were spitting it out of their mouths. Of course, Spike ended up swallowing it and it made him feel bad.
"Ugh! Also the worst tasting!" Said Cera.
"Yuck yuck yuck." Said Ducky.
"I found a couple scaly-swimmers down there." Said Chomper. "They also taste bad."
"There was a couple green food as well." Said Ruby. "But there were not green food with a good taste."
"No wonder nothing grows around here." Cera said now feeling upset.
Just as the gang was about to step out of the water, a huge wave came and splashed them onto the sand.
"Me wish it stop doing that." Said Petrie.
"I guess we've gone as far as we can go." Littlefoot said sadly.
"Do not worry Littlefoot. Our parents well find us soon." Said Ducky.
"Ducky right. We leave good trail." Petrie said as he patted his head to get sand out of his ear.
"And then we'll be right back where we were." Littlefoot said again. "No food, and our families are about to split up forever."
Everyone dropped down to sadness once again. This was the end of the Gang of Seven for sure.
"This is not good. Huh Spike?" Ducky asked him. But, "Spike?"
He was looking at something on top of a rock. But Ducky wanted him with the others.
"Spike!" She shouted as she kicked his back leg. But it hurt not Spike but her. "Ow!" She shouted as she hopped on her foot. Just as she then got on top of his head. "Pay attention! You are supposed to be sad like the rest of us."
However, Spike still wouldn't move. Just as Ducky gave up, she saw what Spike was looking at.
"Green!" She shouted. "There is green food. Spike finded it."
The moment she said that, everyone walked over to where they were. She was right. All the way out in the Big Water was an Island filled with lots of green food.
"She's right." Said Littlefoot.
"Looks delistios." Said Cera. "Say. Maybe Chomper can find some better scaly-swimmers over there too."
"Great idea Cera." Said Chomper. "But how can we get to there from here?"
"I am a simmwer. So I can swim." Said Ducky.
"Petrie fly across." Said Petrie.
"Well, what can we do then?" Ruby asked.
"You can walk."
Everyone was confused a bit. Until Petrie pointed over to a land path leading to the island. It was narrow and it went not straight but in a circle sort of way.
The gang had just crossed hath the way on the land path and they still haven't reached the island. And they were getting tired from all that walking.
"It's a lot farther away than it looks." Said Littlefoot.
"This is like waiting for your hatch day." Said Cera. "It never seems to get any closer."
"Ghee. My tummy is getting louder." Said Chomper.
"Petrie hear it." He said to him.
"That's not my tummy. That's a,"
Before Chomper could finish, the ground began to shake.
"EARTHSHAKE!" He shouted.
The gang fell on their bellies as the water reacted with the earthshake. Then the sky had gone from blue to red as the water had also gone purple and its waves had gone brown. Just as Littlefoot got back on his feet, he turned back and saw a wall of water getting bigger.
"Oh no! Big water!"
The land path was also cracking with got them to scream. Cera then turned back and saw a bigger water wall coming straight at them.
"AAHH!"
It was coming fast. The gang ran as fast as they can to avoid getting hit. But the earthshake was making it hard for them go faster.
Petrie also found himself getting tired as he almost fell down from flying but grabbed onto Spike's tail. And just as the water wall was closing in, Littlefoot spotted something up ahead.
"Look. Land."
However, they had climb up a cliff the moment they got there. Just as Chomper reached the top he looked back the masive wall of water.
"AAAAHHHH!"
The others just now made it up to the top. But Spike on the other hand was stopped nearly close to the top.
"Spike!" Petrie shouted he tried to get Spike moving. But he wouldn't move at all.
The others looked at him stuck in place and the water wall was just about to hit the cliff. But then, Ruby knew what to do.
"Spike. Grab my tail." She said as she lowered her tail. Just as he chomped on it really hard. "Ouch!"
"Hurry. Hurry!" Petrie shouted as the water wall was closer now.
And then, Spike was now on the top. Just the water hit the cliff with a huge SPLASH! And the the earthshake stopped and the sky and water turned blue once again.
"We made it." Said Littlefoot. "And look everyone. Food."
The gang cheered as they ran to the forest behind them. They was lots of green all over the place. But,
"What is this stuff?" Cera asked. "It doesn't look like any green food I've ever seen."
"Smells ichy." Said Ducky.
"Look funny." Said Petrie.
Littlefoot licked one of them and said, "Tastes sort of strange."
"I really miss our reguler food. Our reguler food, I really miss." Said Ruby.
"Me too." Said Littlefoot. "But this is all we have. We might as well try it."
"I'm not gonna try it." Said Cera. "Petrie, you try it."
"Me no try it."
"Let us ask Spike." Said Ducky.
Right on cue, Spike was already trying it as he faced them.
"How is it?" Littlefoot asked.
After swallowing it, Spike burped and smiled.
"He likes it." Said Ruby.
The gang then tried the new food themselves. It really was good.
"Hey guys." Chomper said as he walked over. "I found a watering hole near by with some scaly-swimmers. They were better than the ones in the Big Water."
"That's great." Said Littlefoot. "When our folks find us, there'll be enough for everyone to eat."
"I was thinking the," But before Chomper could finish, he saw something. Something bad. "The land path! It's gone!"
He was right. The path they took was now gone. They were stranded on the island.
"What were you saying about our folks finding us?" Cera asked Littlefoot.
