Emily sat at her desk staring at JJ's office. How was she going to survive 2 weeks without the blonde haired liaison? JJ had put in her PTO last week to go home and visit family and Emily was crushed. "why do you keep staring at JJ's office door, what are you waiting for?" Morgan said snapping Prentiss out of her thoughts. "nothing." Prentiss lied. Morgan smiled at her "You know we are all going to miss her but it's only for 2 weeks, princess." Morgan nudged Prentiss's arm. "Pssshh, I know." Emily tried to cover the blush on her face from getting caught fawning over JJ. "You could always go with her and keep her company. It's not like you don't have the PTO. Plus i doubt JJ would mind." Morgan smiled and winked at Emily walking back to his desk. Emily didn't want to intrude on JJ's family time but got lost in thought again thinking about all the fun they could have if she could go. As Emily was lost in thought she was snapped out of her daydream this time by JJ waving her hand in front of Emily's face. "Earth to Emily." JJ smiled as Emily looked up meeting JJ's eyes. "There's my favorite agent." JJ smiled. "Hey!" Morgan laughed "I can still hear you." Morgan pretended to be offended. JJ and Emily burst out laughing. "Morgan, you're my favorite too." JJ smiled. "What about me?" Garcia asked walking into the bullpen. "You are my favorite technical analyst." JJ smiled. "I better be your only technical analyst" Garcia pouted. JJ, Emily, and Morgan started laughing. "You are my goddess." Morgan spoke up. "That's right." Garcia winked at him. "We have a case so everyone needs to be in the briefing except you." Garcia pointed at JJ. "Hotch told me to tell you to have fun on your vacation we don't need you for this one." Garcia hugged JJ. "Are you sure?" JJ asked "Yes, sweetie. Go and have fun but not too much fun without us." Garcia winked and turned to walk towards the briefing. As Emily passed JJ for the briefing she ran her hand along JJ's upper back not wanting JJ to leave but also didn't have the courage to look at her as she passed. She knew JJ would read her face and she couldn't chance that.
The case was wrapped up quicker than normal and because their were no more cases at the time, hotch had sent everyone home until further notice. Emily walked into her apartment, throwing her keys on the table next to the front door. Sergio meowed and greeted her at the door. She smiled and held him, petting him as she walked. She sat him down in the front room and went for a shower placing her phone on the charger before she went. Getting out of the shower, she dressed in a tank top and night shorts. As she pulled her tank top down she heard her phone beep. She figured it was Garcia asking her to have a girl's night but when she picked up her phone, she realized it was JJ.
How was the case? -JJ

Still small. Nothing to do here except visit family and go to the local bar -JJ

Emily lost her ability to breathe for a moment what could she say to that? She knew she missed JJ too but didn't think she meant it the same way. At that thought she heard her phone beep again.
I miss all of the BAU family -JJ
Oh, that's what JJ had meant it made a lot more sense even if Emily wanted her to miss her the way Emily missed JJ.

The next morning Emily called Hotch. No cases needed to be done so Emily decided to go surprise JJ in PA. She spent most of the day trying to decide what she should take with her and because it was summer she had packed a lot of shorts and dresses. Emily boarded her plane and stared out the window wondering what JJ's hometown looked like. She wanted to know how her beautiful best friend was raised and how she became the woman she was today. As the flight landed, Emily went to the address JJ had given her the night before. In the cab to the Jareau residence, Emily stared out the window looking at the scenery and really taking in the small town vibe. Arriving at JJ's childhood home, Emily walked the path to the front door; rolling her bag behind her. She knocked. An older lady answered the door and greeted Emily. "May I help you?" JJ's mom asked. "Ma'am, I am agent Emily Prentiss, I work with JJ at the BAU." Emily informed. "Oh, of course. JJ talks about you all the time. I am Sandy." Sandy reached out and hugged Emily. 'JJ talks about me?' Emily thought to herself. "Nice to meet you, Sandy. I was actually hoping to visit with JJ." Emily told Sandy. "You, just missed her actually. She went down to J.R.'s with her brother." Sandy smiled. "Oh well i don't want to interrupt her visiting with her friend." Emily stared at the floor. "Oh, no honey. J.R.'s is the local bar here in town. You should surprise her, i know she'd love that." Sandy smiled. "Thank you so much, I'm just going to drop off my stuff at my hotel first and head over there. Nice to meet you Sandy." Emily hugged Sandy again and started to walk away. Sandy stopped her. "A word to the wise, you are way over dressed for J.R.'s. Suits will make you stick out like a sore thumb." Sandy smiled and told her to have fun.
Emily arrived at her hotel, and took a shower as soon as she arrived. She picked out a small strappy black dress, curled her hair, sprayed herself with a light fragrance, put on light make up and found a pair of black pumps in her bag to wear with the dress. When she looked at the clock it was already 9PM so Emily hurried out the door and to J.R.'s hoping JJ would be happy to see her. She called a cab and when it arrived she was off to see JJ.
Emily walked into the small bar and the song "Raise a little hell" by Dorothy started playing. Emily had to push her way into the bar with the crowds of people that were inside as she reached the dance floor, her eyes nearly bulged out of her head at the sight before her. Oh, she had found JJ alright. JJ was on the dance floor, twirling around with some guy in the smallest shorts Emily had ever seen. 'Can you even call those short?' Emily thought to herself before realizing JJ was actually wearing cowgirl boots and a cowgirl hat with a half shirt with fringe on it. Emily stared lost in thought as JJ spun, twirled, and swayed her hips to the music with moves Emily had never seen before. Emily then realized at that point, JJ had a belly button piercing. 'It's like I don't know her at all. God she's beautiful' Emily thought. When the song ended, Emily was still lost in thought when JJ had approached her. "Hey, stranger" JJ smiled and winked at her, Emily couldn't help but smile. "Hey JJ. I thought I'd surprise you and your mom told me i could find you here." Emily suddenly felt out of place in her dress. "You found me and I am so happy to see you, Em." JJ Smiled quickly looking Emily up and down. "Want to do a shot with me?" JJ asked seeing Emily fidget with her dress. "Definitely." Emily smiled and followed JJ to the bar.
