The next morning, Emily awoke first to the smell of coffee and bacon. Emily slowly opened her eyes, as her eyes adjusted to the light she realized JJ was snuggled into her chest and the blondes legs were wrapped around hers. Emily smiled down at her and kissed the top of her head causing JJ to stir lightly but pull Emily closer to her and sighed. Emily was super aware of the closeness and about lost it when the realization hit her, JJ's bare chest was pressed against the brunette's side. Emily's only thought was how amazing JJ felt against her and how soft her best friend was. 'How the hell did JJ end up without a shirt?' The older agent racked her brain. The only thing she could figure was JJ had gotten hot in the middle of the night and in her drunken state didn't realize Emily was asleep in the same bed. Emily would be lying if she said she wasn't throbbing wondering what the rest of her best friend felt like so she shook JJ lightly to not startle the blonde.
"JJ wake up, sweetheart." Emily gently shook JJ. JJ slowly stretched and when her eyes finally opened, she smiled at Emily. "Good Morning, Em." JJ smiled and then realized she wasn't wearing a shirt. The realization made JJ jump up and take the blanket with her. She jumped too hard though causing JJ to stumble over. "JJ! Are you okay?" Emily looked at the blonde on the floor and couldn't help but chuckle a little after knowing JJ was okay. JJ started laughing too and blushed at the situation. "sorry, em. I usually sleep naked and I must have taken my shirt off in my sleep due to habit." JJ explained. "It's okay, JJ. We are friends we can handle this but you might want to put a shirt on." Emily turned around and closed her eyes as JJ got dressed.
After the awkward encounter both girls had showers and headed out to have breakfast with the Jareau family. Sandy had just gotten done with breakfast when both girl's rounded the corner and JJ introduced Emily to everyone. Sam was smiling from ear to ear remembering what Prentiss told him last night and now realizing JJ snuck her in. "You two must have had one hell of a night." Sam winked at Emily. JJ looked really confused. "If you call getting too drunk and falling asleep; one hell of a night." JJ chuckled. Emily just looked at the floor. "We are going to meet the rest of our family tonight for dinner at a new restaurant here in town and you are more than welcome to join us, Emily" Sandy informed Emily "Wear something formal though." Sandy patted Emily's hand. "Thank you so much for including me Sandy." Emily smiled and stared at JJ when Emily looked back up Sam was staring at her. "I'm actually going to go back to my hotel for a bit but I can't wait for tonight." Emily said her goodbyes and walked out but Sam stopped her on the front porch. "Let me take you back to the hotel, Emily. I have something to talk to you about." Sam informed and Emily decided it would be alright to go with him.
In the truck, Sam had informed Emily that JJ's ex boyfriend from high school was going to be at the family gathering later that night. "He is not a very good person." Sam sighed "but, our family is friends with his family. I know how much you like JJ, I can see it in your eyes when you look at her. JJ talks about you all the time and I really do want you two to be together but JJ's ex Jason is always trying to win her back." Sam informed Emily. Emily listened to everything Sam had to say and it really got under her skin. 'I don't want some dude, flirting with JJ all night.' Emily thought to herself. Emily knew JJ wasn't a object to be won but she also was very much in love with her and she figured she could dress up nice and try to flirt with her to see if she stood any chance of being with JJ or if it was all in Emily's mind; JJ touched her in certain ways, she had been caught staring at Emily on more than one occasion. So Emily decided to put their chemistry to the test tonight. Hopefully by the end of the night she will know where she stands with her best friend.
