Chapter 2
- Call To Arms -
It'd been less than a week since Teddy and Arkie had gone to the Tonk's family home, yet they hadn't had a chance to properly catch up. "We saw the background in your photo. I recognised Tonk's family home from when we stayed for one night. But you were away somewhere with Mr. Tonks." He glanced up at his grandmother. Across the table from him Tonks was rocking the sleeping Timothy.
There'd been no news from the Order's radio until a few hours ago. When the voice had crackled loudly. "Incoming news; Gringotts broken into and dragon spotted in Diagon Alley. Lightning was supposedly spotted."
By 'lightning' Teddy knew the speaker was talking about Harry. He hoped they were all safe. What was that about a dragon?!
Timothy woke up suddenly, staring up at the others with wide eyes that made him look like he was surprised by something. Teddy wondered if he ever looked like that. "Here let me." Teddy offered when Timothy let out a cry. Tonks looked tired, but not at all tired of Timothy. She handed him over to his older brother, who rocked him gently. The baby yawned, quieting down.
"So you've been here this whole time?" Arkie asked, sitting beside Teddy whose attention was invested on his brother.
"Yeah, after the wedding we came to my parents. We haven't left in ages, too dangerous if we're spotted." Tonks answered.
"We were waiting for word from you guys." Remus said, taking a seat. "But we didn't hear anything from you."
"We were keeping a low profile."
"We guessed as much. But still, we've kept our ears open. Then we got a message from Bill, telling us you were with him in the Shell Cottage." Andromeda walked from the kitchen, holding out plates of warm potatoes, sausages and peas. "We were going to stay quiet, but when Timothy was born we new you'd want to know. We couldn't help ourselves."
"Glad you did."
"Dig in." Andromeda said, gesturing to the dinner before even helped themselves. "So, tell us, what happened to you two."
"Well," Teddy began, taking a large breath to allow him to attempt at the large sentence twirling in his head.
"We went to the Ministry to get this a Horcrux from Umbridge, got chased out, Ron got splinched, we travelled endlessly for a while before we discovered how to destroy the Hocrux with the Sword of Godrick Gryffindor, Ron left, we went to Godrick's Hollow, got attack by a snake, apparated away, Ron returned and we got the sword of Gryffindor, went to Lovegood's place, got attack by Death Eaters, got captured by Snatchers and brought to Malfoy Manor, I turned into a Werewolf and we all got to safety... well, Dobby's gone... but after that I received your message, tracked you down and now here we are."
He let out a large gasp as he finished.
Tonks and Remus looked between each other in shock.
"While we were at Godrick's Hollow I found Mum's grave." Teddy shuffled in his seat, but made sure to hold his brother safely. "My grandpa's dead to."
"Oh, well haven't you two been through a lot." Andromeda gasped. "I'm so sorry."
"It's fine." He forced a smile and taking Arkie's hand. "We've had each other." Andromeda looked between the two with a wide smile. Tonks did the same. But Remus looked worried as he glanced between the two. The two's bond had grown over the years, they were happy. Remus dreaded the upcoming war that might separate the two. He didn't want his son to feel the pain of losing someone, not that he was a stranger to loss, but this was different. They were each other's one and only.
But he had time. They all had time before the war to end all wars would begin. He didn't know how much time but he had hope. There would be time to prepare. Tonks and him had already come to an agreement that she would stay home with Timothy, but he knew there was nothing he could do to stop his son from answering the call for help that was sure to come some day. And he was proud of that. He was proud of his boy.
Suddenly, there was a familiar crackling. The radio had come alive again.
"Do you read? We've a new weather report. Lightning has struck. I repeat: Lightning has struck at Hogwarts." Remus tensed, his hand's grip tightening around his fork. Glances were exchanged between the group.
The call for help had come, sooner than anyone had expected.
