A Bloodstained Soul
An: So then! This is the second one shot of my upcoming RWBY/Soulsborne crossover series. Like I mentioned in the last one, A Perfected Soul (RWBY/Demon's Souls), I have wanted to do a RWBY/Soulsborne for a while, but most fell flat. And after watching DeModcracy's video ranking the Demon's Souls remake's bosses, I got inspired: send each member of RWBY to one of the From Software's Soulsborne series (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro). So, this is Bloodborne's turn. I hope you all enjoy!
Disclaimer: You know it, I know it, but I don't own Bloodborne or RWBY.
Gehrman watched as his keen Hunter made her way through the garden to him. It pained him to see her. So young, yet bound to this terrible Dream. A pure, innocent soul, forced to soil herself with the Blood of the Great Ones.
Yet, he could not deny her prowess. Many a Hunter before her had prior fighting prowess before coming to the Dream, but hers were an anomaly. It always made him wonder: who made a deal with a Great Ones so her people could fight with their souls?
For what else could grant such amazing abilities as hers?
As she closed the distance between them, the First Hunter recalled their first meeting. She had been so distraught by the atrocities Yharnam had committed, by her own heinous acts in the name of survival. He did her best to alleviate her of her guilt, but in the end, it was her own resolve that saved her. Her own strength of will that allowed her to remain sane within the Dream.
Gehrman admired such qualities in his Hunters. More so in her, as she proved herself to be even better than his previous Hunters. An astonishing achievement for one her age, but well received considering she was a Hunter herself before entering the Dream; a Hunter of a different scourge, but a Hunter, nonetheless.
Finally, she reached him and stopped a few feet from him, wearing the attire of the Healing Church choir. He smiled at her. It fit her well. "Good Hunter," he said. "You've done well. The Night is nearing its end. Now, I will show you mercy.
"You will die, forget the dream, and as promised, will awake under the morning sun of your home world." Gehrman looked up at the moon, seeing it glow a bit brighter. He was glad It would be merciful to her. Turning back to her, he said, "You will be freed. Freed from this terrible Hunter's Dream."
She was silent for a moment, but Gehrman allowed her the time. Unlike most of his other Hunters, she wasn't one to keep silent. And it looked as if she had something she wanted to say.
"Gehrman," she whispered as she took the Church choir's headpiece off, revealing her snow-white hair and piercing blue eyes to the First Hunter. Gehrman nodded to her. "If I say yes, if I submit my life to you, what happens then?"
"I've already told-"
"No. You've told me what will happen to me," she interrupted. "I want to know. What happens here? To Yharnam? To the ones trapped in the Oedon Chapel? To the doll? To you? What happens to all of you when I finally complete this accursed contract?"
The Hunter's Helper sighed. "You do not want that answer, Good Hunter," he tried to dissuade her.
However, she wouldn't be denied. She scoffed. "I figured that would be your answer," she said scathingly. "Thankfully, Simon, Eileen, and my own research has told me enough to get a clear picture of what will happen if I leave here."
Gehrman was in shock. Where on Earth could she have met old Simon? But before he could inquire, she spoke again: "Nothing will change!" Her face contorted into a snarl at this. "The plague will continue to spread! Yharnam will still be a cesspool of blood and beasts! The doll will grow cold again! The Healing Church will still use the Blood of the Great Ones! And you'll still be trapped here!"
She glared up at the moon and scowled. "And what guarantee do I have that this damn plague won't arrive on Remnant?" she questioned angrily. The moon glowed ominously.
Gehrman again tried to say something, but she stalled him again. "I can't! I can't do it, Gehrman! If…If I quit now…everything…everyone I…" She shook her head and glared at him. She placed the blindfold cap back over her face and growled, "This needs to end!"
She stared at him and grimaced. "I'm sorry, Gehrman, but I can't," she whispered. Gehrman hung his head in pain.
He was expecting it, but even still, it hurt all the same. Why did his keen Hunter have to be so dogged?
"Dear, oh dear," he said quietly. "What was it? The hunt? The blood? Or the horrible dream?"
"Nei-" She tried to say, but she was silenced by Gehrman's chuckles. He grabbed the sides of his wheelchair as he took a moment to steel himself.
"Oh. It matters not anymore, Weiss," he told her as he began to stand. He could see the shock on her face, even though half of it was covered. "It always falls to the hunter's helper…to clean up these sorts of messes." He grabbed his Burial Blade from his side and threw it over his shoulder. The hilt locked in place on the wooden shaft on his back, which unfolded for him to grab with his left hand.
His keen Hunter's face turned pale at the sight of his weapon. His own face was set into a grim frown.
"Tonight, Gehrman joins the Hunt."
AN: Yes. I did, indeed, make Weiss the Good Hunter of Bloodborne. The purpose of the girls of RWBY going to one of these worlds is to test them physically and mentally, as well as bring them out of their comfort zones.
Now, each girl could get that in any of the From Software games no matter which they went to, but these one shots are where I think each girl would be the least comfortable with; Ruby in Demon's Souls notwithstanding since I haven't played it yet, and I won't get it until the end of this month. But the Allant talking to Ruby scene is what inspired this, so it suffers from that at the very least.
But that is the second one shot of this upcoming series of mine done! What did y'all think of it? Please review and let me know!
