Chapter 6
- Heck Yeah! -
Teddy wiped his face as he ran through the school, his body screaming in pain, but his heart determined to find his family and friends. There was something on his mind. He close call with death, and greeting with loss, had brought a thought to his mind. He knew he mightn't survive past this day, and if so there was something he had to do.
He turned the corner so quick his shoes probably left skid marks. At the end of the hall he saw the whole Order, including his family, friends and Arkie, fighting together against the wave of creatures, witches and wizards around them. "Arkie-" He called out, running towards her and flipping her opponent. "Arkie there's something I have to ask-"
A Death Eater let out a loud scream, firing viciously. Teddy blocked the first curse. "I need to-" He stopped, grunting and redirecting another one. "I need to ask-" Another curse. This time he stunned the Death Eater. "Just give me a minute!" He shouted, then looked straight at Arkie, speaking loud enough so that she could hear him over the battle cries and falling debris.
"Arkie, it's occurred to me that we may not live to see tomorrow-"
"Oh, well that's the spirit!" She replied sarcastically.
"Let me finish," He continued, flicking spell after spell as he spoke. "Reducto! What I'm trying to say is... Arkie, you make me the happiest man in the world when you around-" He kicked a giant spider away. "I don't know where I'd be without you, and so I- I want to ask... Will you marry me?"
Arkie turned around, her hair knotted and slick with sweat, her golden flecked eyes wide. Her lip were turned up in an open smile, but then she snapped out of her trance and into reality. "Right now?" She yelled.
"I'm just think- now may be the only time!" It was hard, trying to be loving, but having to yell so they could hear you. "So?"
Arkie's mouth was open, as if she was expecting to reply soon, but had no idea what her answer would be. "Yes." Her eyelashes fluttered. Teddy's face brightened. He looked over his shoulder, holding Arkie's hand and shouting towards Kingsley who was in the center of the group.
"Kingsley!"
"Yeah?"
"Marry us!"
"WHAT!?" Everyone replied, stopping their spells from the split of a second and looking surprised at them. But Kingsley grinned understandingly and whilst fight, begun to speak loudly to all who were listening. "Ugh, dearly beloved we are gathered here together to witness the quick union between-" he had to stop for a second, dealing with a Death Eater. "Between this young man and woman. You may now say your vows- if you have some!"
"Arkie," Teddy grunted, his fingers still wrapping around her hand as he fought. "I vow to love you as you love me, through all hardship, darkness, and pain to reach for our joys, our hopes, and always with honesty and faith!" He grinned as he spoke, glancing at Arkie at every chance he could, seeing her doing the same. "I promise to love you, no matter how many Death Eaters, Trolls, giant Spiders and ugly Ogres get in our way!"
"Teddy," Arkie began. "I vow to have the patience that love demands, to speak when words are needed, and to share in the silence when they are not. I vow to love you through all hardship, until the day I die- Even if that day comes sooner than expected!"
Kingsley tried getting as close to them as possible. Their opponents were starting to weaken, allowing all of them- Remus, Tonks, Kingsley, Terry, Leonard, Daniel, Mr and Mrs Weasley - to watch the odd ceremony, happening in the midst of the battle. "Do you, Tesdon 'Teddy' Lupin, take this fine woman to be your wife, in sickness and in health?"
"Heck yeah!" He laughed as the two faced each other, hands held tightly. He pulled something out of his pocket. Arkie recognised it as Carla's ring, it'd been in the jewelry box Dumbledore had given him.
"And do you, Arkie 'Belle' Edwards, take this strapping man to be your husband, in sickness and in health?"
She stared up at him. Grinning broadly, she glanced at Kingsley, nodding enthusiastically. "Heck yeah!" The ring slipped onto her finger.
"Then by the power invested in me... I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride-" Dust flew into the air, in the split second that they had, Remus watched as his son pulled Arkie close, their lips meeting. The moment seemed to last forever, a beautiful blissful second.
I've had this scene planned out from the very, very, very, very, very, very, very beginning!
So glad I finally got to write it.
P.s I'm planning on writing another story, seeing as I'm getting close to finishing this one. It's going to be about if Remus and Tonks had survived the Battle of Hogwarts.
