Hello this is my first fic be merciless in the reviews. Just absolutel me, make me cry myself to sleep and wake up a new person who wears black nail polish on my bitten-to-stubs nails. Make me no longer a breakfast person.

Parents have no concept of privacy.

Unfortunately, Danny had to learn this when his dad burst through his bedroom door with dreams of father-son bonding through completely absolutely I-love-this-dad-yes-I-am-listening ghostly rants. Only to be greeted by a very much putting pyjamas on Danny with very prominent scars littered across his lanky teenage body, including but not limited to a Lichtenberg scar that spread across the inside of his arm and his torso.

"HELLO DANN- oh" His booming voice trailed off as he took in what was in front of him...

To which he then muttered a half-hearted sorry and turned right back around.

"MOTHER FUCKING SON OF A WHORE no, no it's fine, there's a way around this, I just have to... Have to... Shit" Danny was pacing the length of his bedroom at a speed that would make Vlad's evil ramblings run for cover. Well this was... Certainly not the way he expected to go out anyway. Maybe a blaze of glory, as after saving the world he revealed himself in his final moments and as his last breath escaped his lips he heard "We love you Danny"; maybe he just up and decided one day to sit them down and break the news, tense for the reception but receiving a warm hug. Perhaps he united the realms to stop an astero- okay let's stop that train of thought right there please and thank you. Danny's hands shook as he reached for his phone and called Tucker. And then hung up. No, I don't know what he's figured out yet, maybe this is still salvageable, he saw the scars maybe I can tell him I was messing around in the labs while they were away! Danny knew that despite the strict safety lecture the amount of pride his parents would feel knowing their son was trying to take up the mantle would far exceed their concern for his safety. But then there were the consequences, what if they tried to take him under their wing for real? Danny doubted he could fake ghost hunting novice while searching for excuses to go and fight the very real ghostly threat very nearby that his parents had completely dismissed in favour of his ghostly aura. Great, another thing Danny wasn't sure he could cover for forever. He had to talk to Jazz.

"Mads... I think our son might be in a gang," Jack had decided to breach the issue in as they got into bed, hopefully this late at night Maddie would not instantly storm into poor Danny's room demanding answers and instead mull it over overnight.

"I'm afraid you'll have to repeat that honey I didn't quite catch it," her sickly-sweet voice would make the ancients themselves sweat, or drip? What do ghosts do when they're nervous I don't know man.

"Well, I walked into his room earlier and... Well," even now recounting what he saw struck Jack with a twinge of sadness, "He has scars, a lot of them, and we both know Danny isn't the type to do... that... at least Jazz would surely have noticed and told us like a responsible big sister. And, y'see Mads, his schools been calling us about the grades, and the absences, and his change in behaviour. I know we said he was probably having a phase and Sam was probably 'Emo-ing him up?' but... What if he's in a gang?" Jack realized he had slowly been sinking under the covers as his wife stood at the foot of the bed stock still, facing away from him which only worsened his nerves. He was in for a very adult conversation.

Aaaaand that's the end of the first chapter! I know it's short, but I want to at least get some feedback before getting too into it. Please don't hesitate to make me lose all confidence as a writer I don't mind.
