Prologue
19 Years Later
"Timothy! We need to get to the station or you'll miss the train!"
"Coming Mum!" Timothy listened to his mother's impatient shouts as he ran around his room packing his trunk. It was his last year of Hogwarts and again he was behind schedule for catching the train. He stuffed clothes into his trunk, not bothering to fold them, as well as books, quills, ink bottles and a few games to pass the time on the train ride.
His bedroom door open and his father glanced into the room, staring at the poorly packed suitcase. "You pack just as well as your brother."
"It'll be fine." He huffed, running over to his desk and grabbing his shiny Hufflepuff Headboy badge. "I'll be done in just a minute." He glanced up at his father before running to the bathroom for his toothbrush.
"Alright, but be quick. Tonks has got the floo powder ready."
"Mhm." He replied, not really listening as he dashed back to his room, toothbrush in hand. His cedar wood wand laid on his bed and he quickly tucked it into his belt.
It pulled down the lid of his trunk and snapped the buckles shut. A colossal sigh left his gaping mouth as he sat down on his bed for just a moment of peace and quiet. His forest green eyes looked around his bedroom, that'd once been his older brother's when he was younger. The room was small, yet spacious.
The ceiling with slanted and an old hammock was hung off the rafters. A small window allowed light to flow into the room and illuminated the large bookcase next to the desk. Timothy wasn't really a bookworm like his father and brother, instead he was a prankster, much like his mother had been at his age.
Photos and posters decorated his bedroom walls. Each one was a memory.
There were photos of him and his family visiting the train station for his first year of Hogwarts. Another one was of Teddy and Arkie on their wedding day, way back when he was just a baby. There was even a photo of his own girlfriend, Victoire Weasley, Bill and Fleur's daughter.
Timothy ran a hand through his bright blue hair, turning his head around to looked at the rest of his room.
A large poster of his brother was set beside his bookshelf. Teddy was dressed in a navy blue uniform with a silver wolf knitted into the robe just over the word 'captain'. On his desk were two large portraits. One was of him and Teddy during the eighty-eighth International Duelling Cup Tournament. Teddy was smiling brightly, ruffling his brother's hair with one hand and holding a gleaming trophy in the other.
The second portrait was of a newspaper clipping.
'Quarter-breed, Tesdon 'Teddy' Lupin, Wins International Duelling Cup for Tenth Year In A Row!'
Teddy and Timothy looked similar, but while Teddy resembled a younger version of their dad, Timothy had his mother's heart shaped face and dimples.
It was no lie that it was sometimes hard for Timothy to live up to his brother's reputation. He was after all, the first quarter-breed to ever be recorded in wizarding history, had been gifted an Order of Merlin certificate for fighting in the Battle of Hogwarts (their father had gotten one too), a world known duelling champion, a close friend of the famous Harry Potter and was married to the Minister for Magic.
But the two brothers loved each other dearly and Timothy was especially fond of their kids, who he was excited to see at the train station.
"Tim!"
"Coming!" He shouted, lugging his trunk down the hall to find his parents waiting for him by the fireplace. Remus was holding his son's owl, Hookbeak's, cage. "We'll have to be quick if you want to have time to say goodbye to your brother."
"Yeah, yeah. Let's go!" He took a generous handful of the Floo Powder his mother was offering and stood in the fireplace, throwing it down at his feet. "Platform nine and three quarters!"
Teddy held tightly onto the trolley, running through the wall and onto platform nine and three quarters. It was just as busy and full of students as he remembered it.
Parents were helping their children to get their luggage stowed away, hugging them goodbye and making sure they'd packed everything while the red and black steam engine waited patiently for them to board. "Ah, the memories" He sighed, holding his wife's hand tightly.
"So good to be back." Arkie sighed, cradling her three month baby in her arms. "So many memories. Do you remember the time we-" She didn't get the chance to finish her sentence as her husband was yanked forward by his sleeve.
"No time for memories! The train's about to leave!"
Teddy gazed down at his youngest daughter, who'd turned eleven only a few months ago. "We have time, Maddie. There's no need to rush." The impatient first year tapped her foot and crossed her arms before shuffling over to her trolley which Teddy had offered to push for her. She was small, with long chestnut hair like her mother.
Her name had been inspired by Teddy's old mentor and friend, Mad Eye Moody.
"Patience, Mad's." A young voice said from behind his parents. Teddy looked over at his eldest, a light, shaggy haired boy, with tan skin and golden flecked eyes. In one ear had wore a long muggle device called an 'earphone'. A gift from Mr Weasley. Around his neck, he wore his father's wooden wolf charm.
"Got everything, Hugo?" He asked his son as he pushed his trolley forward.
"Hm? Yeah, I go everything."
"Let's go find the others them." Arkie placed a hand on the back of Maddie's head and the Lupin's moved forward through the crowd. Teddy's eyes dashed in all directions, looking for the familiar faces of his friends and family. "Is Remus still teaching Dark Arts Hogwarts this year?"
He nodded to his wife. "I think so, yes."
"Really?" Maddie glanced up, warm brown eyes shining like bronze. "Grandpa's teaching!"
"Yeah- Oh, look!" Teddy raised an arm, waving widely. "Terry! Over here!"
"Teddy. It's been a while." The two old friends greeted each other warmly. "My child's already on board. And how are yours."
"We're fine, thank you." Hugo replied, a tiny bit of sass in his voice. But Arkie nudged him and gave a short glare. Maddie was looking around the station, yet was having trouble seeing anything through the flock of students and parents. "Where are they?"
"I'm sure they're here someone sweetie." Arkie cradled her youngest gently.
"And how's little Freddie junior doing?" Terry brushed the baby's soft cheek. Teddy grinned, putting his hands on Maddie's shoulders to stop her from running off and out of sight. Arkie let out a long groan. "He never stops crying, makes my job insanely difficult when I'm forced to bring him to work. And with Teddy training all day... We're thinking of getting a nanny."
"They're always good. But I'm sure Andromeda would be happy to take care of him."
"By the way," Teddy joined in to the conversation. "Where's Leonard and Daniel these days?"
"Daniel was heading off the Amazon last time I ehard from him. Apparently, there's some good plants there that he wanted to add to his 'nature book'. Leonard's probably studying some unknown breed of yeti in the Himalaya's." Terry laughed waving a hand. "You know him."
"I do. And congratulations on your Quidditch game."
"And you with your tournament. Tenth year in a row huh?"
He shrugged. "Training takes up a lot of my time, but I enjoy every second."
"There they are!" Maddie interrupted loudly, pointing off into the crowd.
"Well, we better be off. Got family to greet before we send these two off." Teddy shook hands with the pro Quidditch player, then followed his daughter towards his parents and brother. Timothy had spotted them coming and was pointing them out to Remus and Tonks whose faces brightened.
"Mum. Dad." Teddy beamed, hugging them then ruffling his younger brother's hair. "How ya doing, Tim."
"Told you not to call me that." He replied, flattening his florescent hair.
Hugo crossed his arms, a small smirk on his lips. "Get used to it. Dad doesn't give up nicknames easily."
Remus and Tonks hugged their grandchildren, son and daughter-in-law tightly. "So good to see you all." Tonks flashed a young smile to Arkie and her baby. "Little Freddie's so cute." She said, kissing the baby's cheek. "We've missed you so much since you moved out, Teddy."
"I've missed you guy too, but Arkie and I have found a nice little place in the countryside. Away from prying eyes." He said, kissing his wife on her smooth forehead. She smiled, closing her eyes for a second. Hugo made a retching sound beside Timothy. "Ugh, get a room."
There was the soft hum of laughter before Teddy pulled his son and daughter close for a hug. As he did he spotted Harry, Ron and Hermione sending their own children off. They two caught a glance at each other and Harry nodded a silent hello which Teddy returned with a grin. "Now you two take care, okay? Look after your sister Hugo."
"I can take care of myself!" Maddie shouted offendedly.
Teddy looked at his younger brother. "You'll keep an eye on them, right?"
"Course worry warts." He shrugged.
"Alright." He let his children go from his hug, watching as they hugged their mother, then began to climb onto the train with Timothy close behind. The two shuffled to one of the large windows, sticking their heads and arms out and waving. The train's whistle chimed loudly and the giant machine began to move from the station.
Teddy raised his arm in a long wave, watching as the heads of his children grew smaller and smaller in the distance. Soon they were completely gone from view and Teddy was left surrounded by family and friends. He surrounded by love. Something a younger version of him would never imagined he'd have.
All was well...
