This is something I've been wanting to try for a while... *thinking*

I've read stories when there were pairings such as Klaus/Bonnie or Kol/Bonnie. Bonnie with others in stories but not really a big fan of it. I did found...like, about maybe two stories that have Elijah/Bonnie. But those are pretty rare and unusual. (Then again, Kol/Caroline story is rare and unusual which is why I have that story up: "Only You".)

Anyways! I wanted to try this story with Elijah/Bonnie pairing. *humming* It would be interesting, no? :3

However, it's a slow burn. *sigh heavily* ...but it will be worth it! *determine*

Warning: unbeta. English is my second. ASL is my first. *peace* :D

I don't own the Vampire Diaries. None. Nope. Nay. Nada. Nein. Nee. Nu. Iie. Non. *attempt to recall every different language of 'no'*

Enjoy~? :D

Mystic Falls
Forbes' Residence
Night…

Tears pilling down from her painful green eyes, her chin tremble as she is feeling raw, distressed, pain, betray, sorrow, and angry from the inside of her heart. She is leaning heavily against the doorway near the hallway, as she could hear the voices by the front door entrance where her two friends are. She knew right away that Caroline is a messenger, informing the brunette doppelgänger that she wants to be alone, alone with her mother who is going through transition.

Bonnie Bennett shove herself away from the doorway to the room where Abby is laying on the bed. She nearly stumbled to the overstuffed chair at the corner of the guest bedroom. The petite witch plopped on the seat as her shoulders shaking. She closed her eyes as tears kept dripping as her walls that hold her up are dangerously vibrating.

She placed her head on the back of the overstuffed chair, curled her legs up out of old habit. It reminded her of how when she was just a little girl—before puberty hit her—that whenever she was sad or scare, she would find a place where she can curl up and be her own little world, away from the reality.

And right now, she wants to be away from the cruel, cruel world. Her arms wrapped around her legs to her chest and lowered her head to touch her knees.

"Bonnie…"

A distance whisper called out her name. The petite witch's throat hitched when she felt cold touch on top of her head. Bonnie slowly lifted her head and forced to open her puffy red eyes. She blinked few times and gasped loudly. "G-grams…" standing front of her is her grandmother, Sheila Bennett who smiles warmly at her.

"Bonnie." She greeted her granddaughter happily yet sad.

Bonnie stumbled up to her feet and wrapped her arms around her grandmother who hugged back as well. "Grams…" the petite witch sobbed into her grandmother's shoulder.

Sheila rubbing her granddaughter's back while murmuring comfort whispers to Bonnie's ears. After a moment, Bonnie reluctantly leaned back and stared at her grandmother's eyes. "Grams… m-mom… Abby—she…"

"I know." Sheila cut Bonnie off with acknowledge. She gently brushed the stray hair from her granddaughter's face and pulled back behind her ear. "To think she would be the first Bennett witch to become a vampire…" she honestly doesn't know what to think about her daughter and how she was forced to become a vampire all because of Damon Salvatore.

"Abby Bennett may be a vampire but she still a Bennett through and through." Another voice speaks up which caught Bonnie's attention. The petite witch turned her head and saw a woman with black hair that grown to her waist with multiple braids, along with beads and cuffs, old-fashioned red with black apron dress, leather boots, and warm yet wisdom brown eyes. "Hello Bonnie… I am Ayana Bennett." Ayana greeted her descendant politely.

Bonnie swallowed dryly. "Abby was forced to become a vampire all because of Salvatore… and because of Mikaelson… because of them. The vampires…" she hisses angrily and sorrow. Vampires were the reasons that causes her grief and broken. She lost her Grams, and now she knew that she will lose her mother.

Sheila sighed. "Remember I said before? Never get involve with vampires. They are nothing but trouble." She grumbled.

"I know…" Bonnie sniffed as she steps away and roughly wipes her tears away.

Ayana watches her descendants quietly. "…as much as I would like to see Bennett Coven to break free from vampires… unfortunately, there is a war coming that requires a Bennett witch." Bonnie and Sheila turned their heads to ancestor in surprised and cautions.

"What do you mean by war coming?" Sheila asked, suspiciously.

The dead ancestor closed her eyes. "I meant that a war is coming in the supernatural community."

Sheila gasped loudly while Bonnie furrowed her eyebrows with confused as her green eyes dart back and forth. "You can't possibly mean—" her jaw snapped shut in astonished and fear.

"Yes." Ayana opened her eyes with solemn face. "It is time for her to take a role." She gravely said.

Liaison with the Originals

Chapter One

"History"

..

.

"W-what's going on?" Bonnie speak up, confused and lost. Not understanding why her grandmother looked so frightened while Ayana is determined yet heartbroken. "What do you mean by role?" the petite witch is completely lost.

Sheila's lips pressed together with blank face while Ayana sighed softly. She turned her attention to her young descendant and waves her hand around. Soon, the darkness around them shifted to a large ballroom with open windows on both side of the walls, and ahead of them, there was a platform with stairs that shown a throne chair with jewels imprinted with fine elegant woods and white cushion. "This is the Enchantress' throne." Ayana whispered while stared at the throne chair.

"I've heard of it." Sheila muttered with awed. "Never would have thought that I get to see this."

Bonnie frowned deeply. "I—I don't understand. What's going on?" she needs answers.

Ayana turned her gaze to Bonnie. "Do you know the history of Enchantress?" Bonnie shakes her head perplexed.

"I have never got to explain to her." Sheila explained, guilty and ashamed that she never gets to chance to teach her granddaughter enough. She wishes she should start training her granddaughter early. Then, Bonnie would be more prepare as a witch.

The ancestor witch hummed. "Six centuries ago, a witch had found a secret power that strengthen the magic." Ayana start narrating. "She was just a young girl with no one to teach her ways to become a true witch. She had discovered myth and fabrication about the powerful magic. The Magic of All."

"Magic of All?" the petite witch never heard such of thing.

Sheila crossed her arms while her gaze stays on the throne chair. "Magic of All as in all black, white and grey magic. All in one."

Bonnie was surprised to learn that, and Ayana continue the story. "Magic of All—at the time was just a myth. A storytelling for witches and warlocks. However, a young witch believed that it was the truth, so she searched for it for many months. Until she found this." Ayana nod her head at the throne chair. "She knew that in order to receive the Magic of All, she has to face seven trails. Seven dangerous quests."

"What kind of quests?" the petite witch asked, curious.

The ancestor closed her eyes. "Fangs from Children of the Moon."

"Blood of the First Species." Sheila speak up from what she recalled the story. "Dirt from birthland. Venom of White Snake." She added.

Ayana opened her eyes with a nod. "Bones of Ancestor. Tears of Virgin Maiden."

"And Blood of Love." Sheila muttered but loud enough for Bonnie to hear.

The elder Bennett nod her head. "Correct. Seven quests for a young witch that managed to succeed and did a ritual right here." She waves her hand around the ballroom while Bonnie observed her surroundings. "She was the ever first to be accepted by the throne that bestowed her a crown and she received the Magic of All. She was known as the Enchantress."

Bonnie narrowed her eyes. "What happened after that?"

"While being Enchantress was indeed powerful and exhilarated… there are consequences." Ayana said with a sad frown. "She has to fight her demons for centuries…"

The petite witch raises an eyebrow. "Wait—centuries?"

Bonnie's grandmother nods her head. "When she gained Magic of All, became Enchantress… she became an immortal. So, she made enemies from all supernatural—witches, warlocks, ghosts, vampires, and werewolves. She wasn't a good holder for the Magic of All. She became dark and evil. Nearly destroyed the living world and the Other Side."

"It was dark era for witches and warlocks mostly. For three centuries, they had fought against the Enchantress until they found her weakness." Ayana take over politely. "It was to take her Magic of All and destroy it. It took over one hundred and fifty witches defeated the Enchantress and soon, the Enchantress return here—" she waves at the throne chair with thoughtful face. "—and attempt to fix her power but it was beyond repair and she died. To those who knew the truth, decided that Magic of All must not be acknowledge for existence and tells the false story for centuries now."

Bonnie bit her inner cheek as she carefully processing the information. "…and so, nowadays… everyone believes this story is just a story?"

"That is correct." Ayana nods her head. "There are very few who knew the truth. No one could risk it."

Sheila sighed. "Until you believe that someone needs to take that role again…" she doesn't like this.

The ancestor Bennett frowned. "I do not like this either. However, the supernatural needs Magic of All." She pointed it out. "The war is coming, and the Originals may be powerful, but they are not strong enough. They need Magic of All just as Magic of All need them. Together, they will make the world safe and protected."

"…and you said that this war requires a Bennett witch." Bonnie pointed it out, recalled her ancestor said those words earlier.

Ayana and Sheila stared at each other and turned to Bonnie. "Yes. The holder of Magic of All must be you." Ayana said with serious eyes.

Bonnie shakes her head. "No. I can't. There's no way I can do that. Not only that… I-I don't think I can handle being… immortal nor… being near that… Originals! They are the reasons why my mom is becoming a vampire! They hurt my friends. One of them killed Elena! I—I can't." Bonnie rejected, not wanting to deal with any more of the Originals.

Sheila step closer to her granddaughter, wrapped her arms around Bonnie and gently rubbed the petite witch's arm. Ayana sighed forlornly then move her hand gesture around as the surroundings changes.

Bonnie noticed that they are in the wild forest with waterfall in the background, sun shines brightly and the green shines happily with flowers and weeds. It was a beautiful wild forest. Soon, she heard the childish laughter and happily squeals. All Bennett witches turned and saw a teen boy with a baby in arms, watching over three young boys playing tags with a little girl.

They were having fun while chasing around in the forest with such enthusiastic and bright innocent smiles on their faces.

Bonnie and Sheila turned their gazes to Ayana who watching them with longing, fond, and nostalgia. "I know that you cannot forgive them. They are the reasons for causes many anguishes, sorrow, grief, and tragedy. For that, I am so sorry."

The petite witch turned her gaze back to the children and gasped when she realized. "They… they're them. The Originals?" she whispered in shocked, didn't expected to see the Originals being so… innocent and so human.

"They were humans." Ayana explained with a fond smile. "This was one of those rare peaceful moment for them to have fun without burdens and fears." She chuckled softly when she watched younger-Kol used magic from the water to pour at one of his brothers for harmless prank.

Sheila raise her eyebrow. "He had magic." She was surprised.

"Of course, their mother was a witch. Each of her children had magic in their blood. Finn, Kol, and Henrik had large portion of magic, stronger than Elijah, Niklaus, and Rebekah."

Bonnie silently watches them for a moment. "…they looked like they had fun… especially with magic… why did they become vampires then? Did they not know that they can't become a witch and a vampire?"

"They did not even know they were going to become vampires. Esther did this to her children behind their backs." Sheila and Bonnie jerked their heads at Ayana in surprise. "Their father stabbed them through their heart, and they became a whole new species."

Soon, the imagine changed and they are facing the Originals. Bonnie covered her mouth in shocked when she saw how anguished and sorrowful they looked. Rebekah was sobbing against Niklaus' chest who is crying silently. Finn stared at the wall blankly while leaning heavily against the wall. Elijah's eyes were teary as he walked toward Kol who hitting against the wall, leaving large dents and cracks with furious. Elijah wrapped his arms around Kol who fights back, struggled against him until he breakdown in tears, mourned the loss of his magic while Elijah closed his eyes, attempt to comfort his little brother.

"They didn't want to be immortals." Sheila stated, with pity.

Bonnie stared at them. She was so used to seeing smug, haughty, and strong Originals. Even when they were weak, they still have some confidence in them. This is was the first time she ever has seen such…

Heartbreaking and devastating looks from the Originals.

"Bonnie…" the petite witch turned her head to Ayana who stared at her. "…I know they did many, many terrible things for centuries. I knew they did horrible and grievous that they should not be forgiven. I know they have their own sins. I have watched over them for years. A thousand years they've been through, I've seen it all. The chaos, killings, bloodbath, wars, lies, betrays, and did all those awful crimes they had committed… but they still have good in them. Please… I know that I have no right to ask this of you, but please forgive them." Bonnie and Sheila gasped in shocked and stunned when Ayana bend down her knees, placed her hands on the ground and bow her head. "Please forgive them."

Bonnie stared at her ancestor in stunned while Sheila mentally wondered if any of Bennett will believe her if she inform them that their ancestor is on her knees, begging for forgiveness for Originals'. "You… you care about them." Bonnie whispered softly.

"…I've watched over them ever since I helped Esther gave birth. No matter what, I will always love them because they are my children too. Please forgive them."

The petite witch curled her fists at her sides as she shifted her eyes at the Originals siblings quietly while Sheila closed her eyes and sighed in resigned. She knew her granddaughter. She knew what Bonnie's answer going to be. After all…

Bonnie is too kind.

"…for you, I will forgive them." Ayana lifted her head with relief. "I…I'm tired. Of the fighting… I don't want to fight anymore." Bonnie said with a tired smile.

Sheila went to help the ancestor Bennett up to her feet. "What about the Magic of All?" Sheila asked, curious.

Ayana glanced at her then to Bonnie. "For now, you do not have to worried about it. I just want to inform you of it because there is highly possible chance you will need to take a role."

"Why me?" Bonnie asked, confused.

"Because Bennett witch comes from the old Ancient and Noble coven that is powerful enough to handle the role for Magic of All." Sheila stated with knowing eyes at Ayana who nodded her head, confirmed that she was corrected.

"That is correct. Any other witches are not suitable for responsible power. After all, they will fallout. But not Bennett witch." Ayana said with a proud.

Bonnie slowly nod her head understanding. "…this is a lot to take in. I need time. To think this through. I know that I said I forgive the Originals… but to truly forgive them, I need to think and… I promise not to judge them or being bias." She knew she can be judgmental and bias since Damon never fail to remind her many, many times. Because what he said was the truth. Maybe she was harsh and judgmental.

"And maybe I should start thinking about my knowledge as well." Sheila speak up calmly. "I know I said that vampires are bad news, and we shouldn't get involve with them… but…" she glanced at the memory of Originals' breakdown. "…something tells me that vampires need witches at their sides."

Ayana nod her head. "Werewolves and vampires are enemies. Witches are neutrals, it is up to them to chose sides or not. There are few Bennett witches that sided with werewolves or with vampires. I sided with the Originals because they are my children and I refused to abandon them." She shown her loyalty and devotion which was obvious to the Bennett witches.

"Well…" Sheila turned her gaze to her granddaughter. "…I might as well… try to learn to… tolerate the ideas of having vampires in your life." She made a face. It will take a while for her to get used to the idea of it.

Bonnie bit her lip anxiously. "…I don't know… like I said before… I need time."

"I understand." Ayana smiles at Bonnie. "For now, I thank you for listen to me." She waves her hand and the image fades in darkness. "I know it is a lot to process and you have quite heavy burden to carry." She steps forward and placed her hand on Bonnie's shoulder. "Fear not, child. You have Bennett witches at your side. There may be few disagrees, jealously, and some envy… but you have young Sheila and I."

The petite witch couldn't help but smiles with gratitude. She hugs Ayana who was surprised but hugged back warmly. "Thank you, Ayana."

"Of course, child."

Bonnie breaks the hug and went to hug her grandmother once more. "I miss you, Grams."

"I miss you too, Bonnie."

The petite witch closed her eyes.

"Bonnie?"

Her eyes snapped open and saw worried face of Caroline who gently shakes her. "Hey, Bonnie… are you okay?" she asked, worried.

Bonnie blinked few times and glanced around; she is in the guest room of Caroline's house. Her green eyes shifted over to her mother who is laying on the bed. "H-how long was I sleep?" she lowered her legs down and wipes the dried tears from her cheeks.

"You've been out for couple of hours. I thought you might want to take my bed, you know… get comfortable. I will stay here and watch over your mom." Caroline said, concerned for her best friend.

The petite witch stared at Caroline quietly. She recalled how scared and angry she was when she first touches her best friend at that night of the carnival. How she instantly avoids and hate Caroline when she learned the blonde-haired beauty was a vampire. How Caroline was so upset and distraught when she is alone and claimed that Bonnie hated her. Her heart sank with shame, guilt, and sadness. "Care…" Caroline raise her eyebrows, puzzling. "I'm so sorry." Bonnie choked.

"Whoa there! W-what happened? What's wrong?" Caroline placed her hands on Bonnie's shoulders with worried. "Why are you apologizing?"

The tiny witch hiccupped sadly. "I hurt you. I pushed you away when I learned you are a vampire. I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't hurt you. I… I was supposed to be there for you. I was supposed to help you and support you. But I didn't. And I'm so sorry!" Bonnie sobbed remorsefully.

Caroline immediately hugged her best friend. "Oh Bonnie…" she truly didn't know what to say nor where this comes from. However, deep down… she felt relief, happiness, and satisfied that her best friend finally apologize to her. And she was happy how much Bonnie truly meant her words. Caroline was so scared that Bonnie still hated her, but she was happy to be proven wrong that in the end, Bonnie doesn't loathed Caroline. "Hey… it's okay. It's all over. It's in the past. Right now, we should focus on the present, be there for your mom and we'll get it through together."

"…yeah… yeah we will." Bonnie is grateful to have a true friend who will be there for her and always support her.

Other Side
Meanwhile…

"Is this really a good idea? For Bonnie to take responsible as a holder of Magic of All?" Sheila asked Ayana with concern as they both saunter through the white mist.

Ayana sighed. "It's either that or gain Expression."

The dead witch halted and jerked her head at her ancestor with horror. "What? There's no way I allow my granddaughter to get anywhere near that dark and powerful sorcery magic. It will destroy Bonnie's mind and soul." Sheila refuses to allow her innocent granddaughter to take over the Expression.

"Which is why I informed Bonnie about the exist Magic of All." The ancestor Bennett pointed it out calmly and understanding. "With that magic, along with practice and patience, she will be powerful enough to stand up against the Originals. Not that I want her to fight against them. Preferably, she works with them."

Sheila hummed. "To think of all the witches in this world… Bonnie Bennett will be the one with powerful magic. I don't know to be proud or to fear for her."

"For now… all we can do is wait." Ayana said, softly then she turned her head to her left. Sheila followed her gaze and saw a shadow through the mist, walking toward them. The ancestor witch narrowed her eyes warily. "…you—"
