Zelda smiles as she looks down at there recent progress with the guardians but that's not all she has to smile about her knight, her hero, the love of her life who she had just recently confessed her love too ,and was delighted when she found the feeling to be mutual, was standing by her side just as interested as she was. She felt as this day was perfect and nothing could ruin it... nothing until she heard angry footsteps approaching.
Link reluctantly dropped to one knee because he knew this wasn't going to be a happy father, daughter conversation.
"What are you doing out here Zelda?!" the king demanded in the most sour tone Link had ever heard. He was already in a bad mood, great.
The look of annoyance and fear in Zelda's eyes was both scary and heart breaking and Link had to fight the urge to jump to his feet and protectively wrap his arms around his princess. Hm 'his princess' that sounded pretty good but Link was bought back to reality when Zelda spoke.
"I was simply assessing the results of the recent shiekah technology, with this rate of progress, I believe that they will be a valuable asset in the battle against Ganon!" She said with much enthusiasm
"Don't you think i know that! When will you stop wasting your time with this "hobby" and focus on what you were born to do instead of treating it like some sort of childish game!" Zelda dropped her gaze and briefly caught Links eye. She doesn't know why but this gave her a little boost of confidence to carry on talking.
"I..I'm doing every thing i can, why can you see that? Maybe praying doesn't work, just maybe the Gods don't even exist!" She screamed in rage but as soon as it left her mouth she regretted it. She knew her father was a deeply religious man and her disrespecting the Gods like that would have grave consequences.
"How dare you! First you do not EVER speak to me like that! Second you are a stupid, silly girl who doesn't care about her duties and then blames the Gods for not being good enough, when maybe she's the one that isn't good enough!" The king was fuming.
A small sniffle escaped Zelda as if she actually believed what the King said was true. Links heart shattered right there as well as a bit of his self control, he was slowly edging to the point of standing to the King.
"Look at me girl." The King finally said in a cold tone "LOOK AT ME!" Zelda slightly raised her head and made eye contact with her father.
"I've given you enough chances, I never wanted it to come this but I am going to have to start disciplining you girl, STARTING NOW!"
Rhoam raised his hand ready to strike his own daughter across the fact but before the back of his hand made contact it was caught by Link.
"UN-HAND ME BOY. HOW DARE YOU?" The king looked shocked as his best and most disciplined knight stepped out of line.
"You will not touch her." Links voice was low and intimating.
"Who are you to tell me what to do! Guards take him away immediately."
Two knights, both of which Link trained with, grabbed him. He was just about to put up a fight
"Father stop, I won't let you take Link away."
If looks could kill Link would be dead with the way the King looked at him.
"And why is that, honey?" There was no kindness left in Rhoam's voice, only venom.
"B..Be-because.." Don't say it, Link thought "Because I love him!"
If Link wasn't dead before he definitely is after the princess confessed to her father she loves him.
The King charged towards Link pinning him against the wall by his neck, before throwing him hard, onto the stone floor. A few cuts and bruises weren't going to stop Link from trying to stand up. He was swiftly sent back onto the floor by a kick to the gut followed by a barrage of kicks and punches by the King and guards with him. After what seemed like forever it stopped.
Zelda looked down at her battered knight with a black eye, cut cheek, split lip and goddess knows what other injuries under his shirt.
"Zelda go inside now!" Her fathers voice broke the silence and instead of protesting she obeyed hoping that they wouldn't beat Link anymore. Once inside her study she ran to the small window trying to get a good look at the action but she could only see a little but it was enough.
The two guards grabbed Link by the shoulders with a groan and held him before the King.
"Do you think you matter? Your nothing, always has been, always will be."
"I'd rather be nothing than be you." Link snapped back. That was a bad idea because in a flash the King ripped the sword from the guards holster and plunged it through Links stomach.
Everyone was in shock, most of all Zelda who ran out of her study to catch Link as her father and the guards walked away like nothing happened.
"Link, LINK! Can you hear me its going to be alright." Zelda sobbed, it wasn't going to be alright, he was going to die and they both knew it.
"I want that cleaned up and Zelda to be locked in her room until I say so." Rhoams voice rang out from somewhere down the hall showing no remorse at all. How could her father be so heartless she'll never know but she cried into her knights chest long after he had died.
A new hero would be born but it wouldn't be Link by her side.
A/N I know this is a bit sad but I hoped you enjoyed it. Let me know if there is anything I should change. Stay safe!
