CONGRATULATIONS Roban05! (part 2)
TRIVIA: Who is Jonathan and Jennifer Hart? Why are they significant? (worth 2 chapters)
?-?
"There's nothing like smores and camping." Cathi said, smiling as she and Myles roasted marshmallows over a fire later that evening.
"You can say that again." Myles grumbled, not exactly favoring the sticky, sweet delicacy.
Cathi glared at him. "You can at least try to enjoy it!"
"I'm trying, believe me, I'm trying." Myles replied.
"Have you had any moments on this trip that you've enjoyed?" She asked, hoping it wasn't a waste.
"Of course. That view off the cliff was amazing." He replied. She slightly smiled. "And so are you." He added.
"Even though I make you get out of your comfort zone?" She quietly asked.
Myles smiled. "For that precise reason."
They both smiled widely at each other, then leaned in to kiss.
?-?
"I win." Sue satisfactorily said as she moved her game piece to the end of the board on Sunday afternoon.
"AGAIN?" Jack replied, not believing she won the game yet again. "Let's play a different game."
"You're just mad that you keep losing to me." Sue smiled.
He cocked his head in response, considering the comment.
"Alright. We can play a game where you win all the rounds." She said.
"Is there even a game like that?" He asked.
She nodded, then walked over to grab the game. When she brought it over, he laughed. "Of course."
"READY?" She signed once she got the game set up.
He nodded. "Get ready for me to beat the pants off you!"
"I hope not!" She exclaimed, laughing. "Though you very well could beat the pants off Sunny, since she doesn't wear pants in the first place!
"You're next, then." He replied to Sunny, who was sitting on the floor next to Sue. She woofed in response. The couple laughed as they started their game.
?-?
"Well, I guess today wasn't that bad." Myles said as he and Cathi got back to her car.
She nodded. "It was fun. Ready for another trip next weekend?" She asked hopefully.
He laughed. "Uh, no. How about we do something I like next weekend?"
Cathi smiled as she tossed her bag in the trunk. "Alright, as long as we do something I like the weekend after that."
"Deal." He replied, then they got into the car to go back home.
?-?
"Hey, how about you and Sue go as Jonathan and Jennifer Hart to the Halloween party?" Bobby suggested to Jack Monday morning in the bullpen.
Jack chuckled, shaking his head.
"What's wrong with them? They're classic!" Bobby exclaimed.
"I guess." Jack replied. "We still haven't really discussed our costumes yet."
"Wo ho!" Bobby said, distracted from the costume conversation by Myles coming into the bullpen. "How's the rugged hiker? Have some scary camping tales to tell?"
Myles glared at him as he walked to his desk, took off his coat, and sat down. "It was fine, thank you very much."
"Wow, Myles calling camping 'fine'." Sarah toyed. She received a glare back as well.
"If everyone's just going to tease me about my weekend, I'm leaving." Myles said.
"Aw, come on. One more. Mya? Would you do the honors?" Jack asked.
Mya distractedly looked up. "Huh?"
"Whatya doing there? You usually love joining us in our little games." Bobby said.
"Oh, uh, well, I'm uh, just looking up something." She replied.
"What?" Sarah asked.
"Well, I was thinking, it would be nice if, but it's hard to find, but I'm hoping I could." She nervously replied.
"What are you looking for? Just spit it out." Myles replied, annoyed.
"My birth parents." She blurted out.

"Get out of my way!" Carla exclaimed as she carried a pan of hot cookies from the oven to the kitchen table. Bob scurried to the table, stealing a cookie as she set it down.
"Oo, hot, ow." He exclaimed, throwing the cookie in the air a couple times.
"See? It's hot!" Carla exclaimed.
"But good." He struggled to say, a piece of hot cookie in his mouth.
"Don't eat them all. I'm trying to save some for when my sons and their families come for Halloween!"
"They're all coming here?" He asked.
Carla nodded. "Mmhmm. Since there's no definitive plan for Halloween yet, we're having our own Halloween party. Sue got the idea to have a mini trick-or-treating experience inside the house. Instead of homes, they'll knock on rooms. It gives them some sort of experience, and candy!"
He nodded in response. "Sounds like fun."
"And you're invited, of course."
Bob smiled. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
Carla smiled as well. "Good. I was planning on you being one of the door occupants."
"Which door?"
"The upstairs bathroom." She replied.
"Aw, come on, give me something better than that!" He exclaimed.
Carla shook her head as she gently scraped the cookies onto the cooling rack. "Sorry, all other rooms are taken."
"Then I'll trade with someone. Anything's better than the bathroom!"
"How about the basement?" Howie asked, walking in the room. "That's where she stuck me."
"I guess the bathroom isn't too bad." He replied, thinking of the cool, dark, basement.
"Hot, hot," Howie exclaimed, also grabbing a hot cookie. He received a slap on the wrist from Carla. "So you wanna trade?" He asked as he tossed the cookie in the air to cool it down as he looked at Bob.
"Sorry, no. Thank you, though." Bob said, walking out of the room, stealing another cookie on the way out.
"Why can't I trade that basement? I've already asked Sue. She said no too." Howie said, dumbfounded why no one wanted the assignment.
Carla chuckled as she plopped some dough on the pan for the next round. "Men."
