About three weeks later Kacey was putting Kori to bed.

"Mommy has something to tell you." Kacey said. "John's coming over tomorrow night."

"Good."

"That's not all." "He's gonna spend the night."

"Is he sleeping on the couch?"

"No." "He's sleeping in my room."

"Oh." "Like daddy and stepmommy."

"Yeah." "Ok." "Time to go to sleep." She kissed her cheek. "I love you."

"I love you too mommy."

"Goodnight."

""Goodnight."

John and Randy were at a bar in Colorado.

"John." Randy said. "John did you hear what I said?"

"Huh?" "Sorry I'm just distracted."

"Are you and Kacey fighting?"

"No." "I'm spending the night at her house tomorrow."

"So what's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong." "I just can't stop thinking about something Kacey told me." He told Randy about Kacey losing the baby.

"Wow."

"Now I can't stop thinking about it." "We were going to have a baby." "I can't stop thinking about what would've happened if she'd had the baby." "What might have been."

"Would you have wanted her to keep the baby?"

"I think after I got over the initial shock, yeah."

"Do you think you two would've got together?"

"Maybe."

"You still can get together."

"Don't start."

"Is this the first time you'll be staying at her house?"

"Yeah." "I know Kori will be excited to see me." "She likes me."

"That's good."

"I'm actually looking forward to seeing her tomorrow." He said surprised. "She's a little sweetie."

"I think it's good you're bonding with her."

The next night after dinner Kacey, Kori and John went into the living room.

"Mommy, it's cold." Kori said.

"Yeah it is." "I'll turn the heat up." "Go upstairs and grab a blanket." "We'll watch a movie."

"Ok." Kori went upstairs, grabbed a blanket and came back down. "Can I sit with you John?"

"Sure."

She got next to him and started to cover up. "Do you want some blanket?"

"Yeah."

After the movie Kacey was putting Kori to bed. They'd just said goodnight.

"I want to say goodnight to John." Kori said.

"John." Kacey called.

"Yeah?" He said coming into the room.

"I want to say goodnight." Kori said. "Can I have a hug?"

"Sure."

She wrapped her little arms around his neck as he bent down to hug her. She kissed his cheek. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

A half hour later John was sitting in Kacey's bed watching TV. Kacey came back from checking on Kori. She got in bed next to John.

"She's sleeping." Kacey said. She straddled John and took off her shirt.

He smirked. "What do you wanna do?" They kissed.

It was seven o'clock in the morning. John was awakened by a knock on the door.

"Mommy." Kori said.

"One second." John said. He got dressed and opened the door.

"Good morning John."

"Good morning." "Let's let your mommy sleep." "I'll make you breakfast."

"Ok."

"Do you like pancakes?"

"Yeah."

Kacey woke up two hours later at nine o'clock. She got dressed and went downstairs. As she walked down the stairs she stopped as she saw Kori and John playing.

"Do you have any twos?" John asked.

"Go fish."

"Man, you're good at this game."

Kacey smiled and came the rest of the way down the stairs.

"Good morning mommy." Kori said.

"Good morning." "Have you had breakfast?"

"John made yummy pancakes."

"Go upstairs and get ready for your bath." "I'll be up in a minute to start the water."

"Ok." She went upstairs.

Kacey looked at John. "Thanks for getting up with her."

"No problem." John said.
