Chapter 3: The Meeting and capture

In the Justice League's meeting room sat all the known members of the League sitting at a large round table. The big three Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman looked at Hal Jordan and his friends as they arrived so they could take their seats. When Hal approached an empty seat he saw two Green Lantern's Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz. The other Green Lantern Simon stood up from his seat in order to greet Hal.
"Hey there Hal, nice to see you are awake. Jessica and I were just waiting for the three of you. How are you feeling?" Hal responded to the younger Green Lantern that he was fine and that he recovered from his injuries. "I am feeling just fine seeing as my injuries are now healed I am allowed to leave the infirmary." Simon was also worried about how Hal is doing. In Simon's mission, he was assigned under Martian Manhunter's group to disarm their bombs location by the Legion of Doom members Black Manta and Grodd.
When Simon and his group were done disarming their bombs they saw a large green light from the distance and it made Simon be wondering who could summon such a powerful light and he was sure that Jessica did not do that but the only other Lantern on Earth that may do that is Hal. Simon went back to the Hall of Justice to wait until the other superheroes made it back safely and then he saw Jessica rushing inside with the Flash carrying Hal quickly to another location presumably the infirmary. When Jessica explained what had happened to Hal, Simon felt a small headache brought up when Jessica mentioned how Hal showed some sort of new power she did not see before and that he defeated Cyborg Superman. At first Simon did not think the headache was something he should be concerned about; he brushed it off as having a stressful day and it would be gone. However little did Simon know that something is about to change which is something he did not expect to happen.
At the moment Simon asked Hal if he was feeling any different since he woke up: ''When you first woke up did you feel any different?" Hal looked at Simon before answering:" Now that you mention it when I woke up my hearing seemed to be more clearer and my eyesight was better." Hal left out the small information about his teeth having some changes like having fangs and that he did not want Simon or Jessica freaking out about it. Simon reached forward to shake Hal's hand after greeting him. However the moment Simon touched Hal's hand, Simon's eyes briefly glowed green and Simon stepped back away from the older Green Lantern as Simon had a vision. Simon Baz is the only known Green Lantern so far that has a special power called the Emerald Sight which is a rare ability Green Lanterns could have as it gives the user the ability to see into the future when something big will happen.
Simon was confused on why the Emerald Sight is reacting now of all times when back on the previous Justice League missions they did not become active but now it is. Simon is then taken to see these visions that are events that may happen in the future.
In this vision, Simon could see Coast City during night time where Hal is seen walking back to his apartment until he saw an energy blast targeting where Hal is and then Hal dodged then transformed to his Green Lantern uniform to use his ring to put up a barrier.
Hal turned towards a hooded figure that looked small with blue skin. Simon was not sure who this figure is but he has a feeling that this one is dangerous.
Hal asked the figure why he is following him and who he is:" I can sense that you are following me. Who are you and what do you want?" The figure's voice sounded a lot like a male but it is not a voice Simon recognized. The figure said:" It has been a long time Jordan, I can see that you have gotten powerful over the years. But unfortunately for you so have I. Surely you would remember me after all it was you who defeated me last time."
The small figure lifted his hood down to reveal an alien that looks like to be a Maltusian or one of the Guardians that Simon has seen in the past. Hal looking at the figure was shocked to see who it was as he said:" It can't be its you…" Just as Hal was about to say the name of the person the vision changed to another scenario.
This frustrated Simon as he was about to get to know who this Maltusian is and that he has never seen him before since the only Guardians Simon knows about is Ganthet, Sayd, the Templar Guardians and Rami. The new vision that Simon sees is set at some unknown cave with two prison cells and a laboratory seeing Hal collapsing on the floor at the lab with something bursting from his back which was two glowing green wings and then Hal opening his eyes to be bright green lit eyes. Next, a young Xudarian child whom Simon recognizes as that new Green Lantern recruit Somar-Le is crying out for Hal on how he is in pain and for the mean man to stop hurting him.
"Please stop it, Mister Hal is in pain please let him go!" Said the girl. Then the voice from earlier replied:" No, I am still doing research and he will help me get revenge on those lanterns most specifically Sinestro and the surviving Guardians whether he wants to or not." Simon felt concerned about what is happening and wanted to stop this but he can't since it is a vision of the future. Then Hal in the vision attempted to use his ring to attack his captor the Maltusian only to be stopped suddenly when the Maltusian raised a white medallion at Hal and Hal froze not being able to move.
The Maltusian sarcastically said:" Nice try Jordan, this time you will not be able to lay a hand on me as long as I have this artifact with me. After all you want this girl to be unharmed or do you want her to be put in the line of danger?"
"You won't get away with this Krona, you will pay for what you have done and even if I am no longer human anymore I will do whatever it takes to protect the others." Answered Hal as he was grunting in pain from his new wings bursting from his back.
Simon watching this was confused on what is happening and from what details he could infer Hal is being experimented by this strange Krona person. This Krona seems to want revenge on Sinestro and some unknown lanterns and what caught his attention was the mention of surviving Guardians. The only surviving Guardians from before the rise of Volthoom are Ganthet and Sayd but why would Krona want to seek revenge on them? There are a lot of things Simon can't figure out and that before he could see more, Simon sees one last vision portraying a group of Green Lanterns he recognized as John, Guy, Kyle, Jessica, and himself found the Legion of Dooms headquarters. With the villains preparing to fight the Lanterns until John Stewart stepped up and talked:" We are here to speak with Sinestro and the League does not know anything about what I am about to do."
Sinestro growled at the nerve of John Stewart wishing to have an audience with him. Luthor was not pleased at being ignored by one of the Justice League's members as well as the other Legion members being cautious at their enemies request. "Why should I listen to what you have to say Stewart? What business that you Green Lanterns got yourself into I am not interested so I want you to leave."
John said that two of their Green Lanterns went missing and that it is by an old enemy that they have in common:" Two of our Green Lanterns have gone missing. They were both abducted by an old enemy the both of us encountered in the past." The reaction that Sinestro had about this revelation was that of annoyance since he does not care about some random Green Lanterns that have gone missing, surely Stewart and the Green Lanterns can deal with the problem to take care of their own recruits instead of going to Sinestro about it.
John took a deep breath when he revealed who went missing:" The names of those lanterns that went missing are Hal Jordan of Earth and Somar-Le of Xudar." This caused a reaction in Sinestro when he heard Hal's name as Sinestro was stunned, not expecting that as he turned to look at John Stewart. As Sinestro was about to speak, the vision suddenly ended with Simon waking up to the real world.
Simon winced his eyes as he felt someone shaking his shoulders as he saw that it was Jessica asking what is wrong. "Simon, please snap out of it, what's wrong?" At the moment Jessica's eyes widened as she came to a realization as to what happened:" Don't tell me the Emerald Sight reacted again? Simon tell me what you see." Simon looked around the room as the gathered Justice Leaguers were all sitting at the table and were looking at him with concern with Batman being the most suspicious at this turn of events. Simon moved to where Hal is and checked his back only to see nothing there and Simon breathed a sigh of relief with Hal being confused on Simon's behaviour with seeing Simon standing there with eyes briefly glowing green.
Simon then said:" Jessica, can I tell you what I saw later we have a meeting right now and I do not want to be the reason the meeting is late." Jessica was worried about her friend and that she only knew of Simon's new psychic power when they were assigned as partners by Hal to patrol sector 2814. So the three Green Lanterns sat at their seats so their meeting could start. Superman welcomes everyone to the meeting and is glad Hal has recovered from his injuries.
Batman was the first to speak on what the meeting is about:" Today, we will be going over our missions from the past few days and the results of that. Three days ago Wonder Woman's team fought two members of the Legion of Doom in an attempt to disarm the bomb only for Green Lantern Cruz to throw the bomb away from the area. Both Sinestro and Cheetah gave a formidable battle against the groups to the point few of our members were injured badly by them until they retreated."
Hal hearing about Sinestro almost made Hal want to ask for more details on the Korugarian but decided not to.
Martian Manhunter spoke next about the day the mission took place:" For my group's assigned location we were successful in stopping the bomb from going off but in the distance we saw a huge green light." The other heroes in the table were shocked at this fact that a green light shot out from the distance and this made them come to the conclusion one of the three Green Lanterns currently on Earth may have had something to do with it.
"What caused the green light to occur and could it have been any of our three Green Lanterns" Asked Vixen, the feline themed heroine. Batman answered the woman's question that the green light belonged to Hal Jordan:" We know where that light came from and it is from Hal Jordan." Simon was not sure why Batman came to the conclusion it was Hal without being there when it happened unless he saw footage of it." The other heroes in the room did not believe that light came from Hal but then Batman interrupted the discussion:" We have acquired the camera footage from the warehouse that the Flash's group has gone to and the results of that mission."
Then the video came up on the screen playing the events on that mission. Hal was seeing what really happened with his own eyes and to see what his friends meant by his strange power. The footage showed the scene of Hawkgirl and Green Arrow disarming the bomb with Green Arrow not aware of the danger heading his way as Cyborg Superman threw a yellow knife towards him until Hal pushed his friend away from the impact being hit in the chest and bled with Hawkgirl being horrified on what she is seeing.
The heroes in the room including Superman were shocked at the scene they saw about Hal's supposed fatal injury. The video presented that Hal was trying to breath but then he stiffened showing a lack of breath. The other Justice Leaguer's gasped at seeing Hal dying in the video and were wondering how Hal survived that. The video continued as it showed Flash rushing at the villain in anger and grief of what happened to his best friend only for a rush of green light appeared behind him. The Green light surrounded the limp body of the Green Lantern and the body then became transparent full of green energy then Hal moved. The scene in the video was unbelievable as Hal saw himself moving to stand up and his pure will form activated with green light blasting through the hole in the warehouse's roof. What happened next shocked most of the heroes in the room when Hal's head looked up at the enemy in front of him and his eyes changed to an eerie appearance of green slit eyes and Hal not showing any breathing motions raised his right hand with a green energy gathered from his hand to fire at Cyborg Superman who is then burned.
After watching the video, Hal was stunned at what he saw made him think What is happening here? I turned out to have come back from being injured and proceeded to injure Henshaw to the point of receiving burns and then I saw my body looking at each of my friends as if they were threats or not. Superman saw this part of the scene since he, Batman and Wonder Woman arrived near the end to see what was happening; only to see something drastic happen to Hal. When Hal was unconscious, Superman used his x-ray vision to see what was wrong with Hal only to discover Hal's body was filled with green energy in his cells and that strange scales appeared on Hal's back. Then Batman brought out a familiar yellow knife from his utility belt that was in a bag to put evidence in to show the heroes in the room the item.
"Green Arrow brought in the knife used to injure Green Lantern so that I could examine where it came from. I did some research as it turns out that this knife had the symbol of the Sinestro Corps embodied on it." Green Arrow was upset learning about this as he said:" Are you telling me that Sinestro is one of the ones responsible for Hal getting injured like that and he handed that knife to Henshaw to kill Hal?" Batman disapproved Oliver's accusations:" No, I believe it was not intentional since Sinestro did not expect that to happen on that day in fact that knife Henshaw was holding could be traced back a few years ago back when the Green Lantern Corps were in battle with the Sinestro Corps at Coast City so it was not recent."
"Do you mean that Sinestro handed this knife to Henshaw during the Sinestro Corps War so that Henshaw could use it to kill other Green Lanterns with it? How odd that Sinestro did not expect that his knife would be used to injure Hal." Replied Flash who was upset at the fact Sinestro had indirectly provided a means to harm Hal even if the item in question was from long ago. Batman chose the time to ask Hal something: "Jordan that power you displayed in that video, what sort of powers did you acquire while you were in space?"
Hal did not expect for Batman to ask that question now of all times but knowing Batman it would be inevitable he would start to suspect Hal's powers. So Hal responded:" The new powers that I acquired during the time I was in space was that I have the ability to create my own Green Lantern ring from my essence and also my body could turn into pure will energy and that I have the ability to connect to my ring anywhere as it is a part of me." Batman frowned at this new information which confirms his suspicions that Hal is hiding stuff from the League. "You kept this information from us about your new powers and yet Cruz or Baz does not have the same power as you did." Oliver spoke up for Hal:" Listen Batman, Hal did not mean to leave any of his powers from you its that Hal was not ready to share that about himself and sure Hal in his pure will form once exploded Mongul's Warworld during the fight with Sinestro but he is in a stable condition now." The last part made Oliver stop on what he just revealed and that Batman would have even more suspicions on Hal's powers. "You mean to tell me Green Arrow, that Jordan somehow has destroyed Mongul's Warworld a planet sized place with his strange powers?" Even Superman could not do such damage to that place and this information made the rest of the heroes feel concerned about Hal's new powers and that some of them do not want to think Hal would lose control with these new powers but based on what happened when he was possessed by Parallax long time ago they would be cautious.
Flash not standing the tension in the room spoke:" Hal has proved himself again that he is a hero and that he made sure what living beings on the location were evacuated with the help of some of the Yellow Lanterns and Soranik Natu, their leader at the time. After the white Lantern Kyle Rayner helped bring Hal back from a realm called the Emerald Space, Hal became much more stable and his new powers improved drastically." The other Green Lanterns in the room Jessica and Simon hearing these new facts about Hal were shocked and that he did not tell them about that aside from the Green Lantern ring Hal made.
Batman looked at Flash, Green Arrow and Black Canary when he said: " The three of you knew about Hal Jordan's powers and you did not think it should be something that should be brought to attention." Black Canary exclaimed:" Well we did not say anything because Hal was not ready to share that personal detail of himself. I apologize if this causes the rest of you to feel misled and that it was not our intention so now that you know what will happen now?" Superman then spoke next as it is his turn:" In consideration of what we just learned Green Lantern Hal Jordan will be watched and that he should master a control of his powers so that no bystanders will get hurt.'' For a moment the other heroes agreed with watching Hal during his time on Earth and that Hal did not like the feeling of constantly being monitored. Later on in the meeting the heroes discussed the motives of the Legion of Doom for their attacks in which The Atom theorized it was to test the Justice League's current strength and that the Legion are awaiting the awakening of the Goddess Perpetua.
The meeting is almost over until Wonder Woman asks Simon what happened earlier;" Simon what happened to you earlier in the meeting and judging from what Jessica mentioned about Emerald Sight is that a new power you have exclusively or is it a power that can see into the future similar to the oracles?" Simon froze at this question and looked at Jessica on what he should do. Jessica made a reassuring look about it being fine to tell Wonder Woman and the rest of the League about his ability.
" Earlier before the start of the meeting, I just received a vision from the Emerald Sight it is a special power that lets someone see into the future or even potential futures and that this power is rare among Green Lanterns. I have no idea why I have this power only and that the other Green Lanterns did not step up if they had it. The Emerald Sight occurs when something big of an event is about to happen." Explained Simon to the Amazon. Wonder Woman listening to this was interested about Simon's power being similar to an oracle she knows about asked more:" Simon what visions did you see and is it something that the Justice League should be aware of?" Simon looked around the room having all these superheroes looking at him made him nervous but he tried not to show it then looked at Batman who had a calculating look as if deciding how to take care of a potential problem Simon or the lanterns will commit.
"In the vision there was a scene of the Legion of Doom at the front of their hideout is preparing for battle against the superheroes planning on stopping them and then a couple of super heroes found their hideout to attempt to negotiate." Said Simon who was saying part of the truth but chose to word it in a way that does not specify on which heroes approached the villains because Simon does not want John and the other lanterns to get in trouble for what future decision they will enact.
Than Batman brashly questioned Simon on who those superheroes are and what are they thinking approaching the Legion of Doom:" Baz, who are those super heroes that were dumb enough to approach the Legion of Doom and what purpose did they want with them?" Simon said:" Those heroes wished to ask one of the Legion's member's for an alliance involving two people that went missing and that they presumably needed that person's help to locate the missing individuals." Technically Simon is telling the truth about that certain vision of the Earth Green Lanterns approaching Sinestro for an alliance it's just that he left out the names of those involved.
Batman, not satisfied with that answer, demanded Simon to be clear and that it does not make sense that a couple of random hero's asking for one villain in that group for an alliance instead of the rest of the Legion of Doom. "That barely answers anything Baz, tell me why the heroes in your vision only needed one member to make an alliance with and not the rest? Unless this event is something personal for this villain the heroes are speaking with." When Simon stopped talking it confirmed in Batman's guess that it was something only one of the villain's in the Legion of Doom would be involved in but the question is which one was it since it was unlikely the heroes would ask Cheetah, Grodd, Luthor, Black Manta for help and then there's the case of Sinestro who does not express interest of anything to do with Earth.
Just as Batman was about to ask another question Superman declared that the meeting is now over and that everyone is now free to return to their duties. Once all the heroes exited the room, Simon took the time to approach Dinah, Barry, Oliver and Hal with Jessica to tell them something.
"Wait Hal, there is something I need to tell you and I want Black Canary, Green Arrow and Flash to know as well." Yelled Simon at the hallway. Hal turned towards Simon as he asked:" Sure, what did you want to talk about?"
Simon then informed the group about his visions:" As you may have heard, my ability the Emerald Sight allows me to see into a potential future that may happen. I saw a vision Hal walking alone at Coast City to go home and saw you were attacked." Hal was shocked at what Simon said about Hal being attacked by someone while on his way back to Coast City.
Before Hal could begin to speak, Simon also warned Hal that he should not be walking home alone and that he should have Flash, Green Arrow or Black Canary go with him. "Listen Hal, you should be escorted by Flash, Green Arrow or Black Canary when you are going back to Coast City or otherwise you will get attacked by the blue suspicious figure."
The three heroes that were hearing the conversation informed Simon that they will not be able to escort Hal home."Simon, I do not think I have time to escort Hal because I promised Iris I would only hang out with her today for a date." Said the Flash who was in contact with Iris for their new date held tonight.
As for both Oliver and Dinah they are not able to come because in Star City, Oliver received a message from his sister Emiko that something is going on back home and that she needs her brother's help so she needs him to come back right away. Dinah is also going with Oliver to help solve the problem and does not know how long it took. Simon hearing about this new change of events felt upset that Hal will still be attacked and then something came up because Simon knowing the name of who will attack Hal wants to ask Hal if knows this person's name.
"I want Hal to be careful when he is heading back home to Coast City and that I think I know the name of the person that Hal will be attacked by. Hal, tell me who exactly is Krona?" The other adults in the room froze as they heard the name Krona and that Hal was shocked most of all since both Jessica and Simon should not have heard the name Krona unless they researched the Green Lantern Corps archives on past adversaries the Corps faced in the past.
"Where did you hear that name Simon? Krona was an ancient enemy of the Green Lantern Corps and he should be deceased now" Said Hal towards the younger lantern suspicious on this turn of events. Simon thought carefully on how he should word it without sounding like a lunatic."The reason why I heard about the name is that in my visions the name was said aloud by someone and then in my vision I saw a blue figure that seems to be a Maltusian show up in Coast City and they attacked you."
Hal heard this bit of information Can it be true that Krona is alive? But that's impossible I saw him perish a long time ago when I fought him to save the other Lanterns. Black Canary participated in the conversation:" If what you are saying is true, then we should be alert and find such a figure so that they won't attack Hal." Simon was about to say something in regards to Black Canary's statement until Jessica interfered:" I may not know who this Krona is but judging from what Hal said this Krona should be dead yet in the visions his name is mentioned again and I might be wrong but it seems that this Krona person came back from the dead but that should not be possible."
"I do not know what is happening in the visions but I want to make sure that Hal would be safe." Said Simon towards the group. Hal was touched about how much Simon cared about Hal and wanted to help stop whoever will be attacking him but Hal does not know when exactly it would happen it could either happen a week from now or months. As a few moments passed the heroes went their own ways with Jessica leaving the building to go meet up with her sister on something leaving only both Hal and Simon along.
The older Green Lantern was not sure what to do about the recent events that are revealed to him like the idea of Hal being attacked after Hal developing these strange new powers seem like a coincidence but what if it was not? Simon decided to interrupt the silence by asking Hal if he is feeling alright:" Are you feeling alright Hal. I know the details of the vision are shocking to you and that despite what will happen you are still a good person in my view. I do not know when the attack will happen but it may happen sooner, I would like to escort you back to Coast City if that is fine with you just in case." This made the older male stunned that Simon would be willing to spend time with Hal even though Simon would prefer hanging out with Jessica. What more did Simon foresaw in his visions and will Simon escorting Hal to Coast City have any effect on what is to come? Hal is usually not the type to think of the future since the outcome is numerous at first Hal thought in the future he would start a family of his own someday like to have a son named after Hal's late father Martin. However seeing things right now Hal's relationship with Carol at the moment is strained and that Carol will need some time to herself.
Simon walked to the entrance of the Hall of Justice with Hal and before they both started to fly over to Coast City Simon asked Hal something:" Hal, recently in the Green Lantern Corps, I have heard that Xudar's new green lantern is named Somar-Le who is young and I want to know how is she doing?" It has been a long time ever since the Blackstar's incident that Hal promised Tomar-Tu to watch over his successor. So Hal made sure that Somar-Le was safe and the involvement she had in the past months was that she identified the kidnappers of Ganthet and the Templar Guardians to be the Controllers who were Maltusians that evolved.
Hal then revealed to Simon about how she is doing:" Wel Somar is doing fine as she is currently doing training by Kilowog back at New Oa so that Somar-Le could learn more about what it is to be a green lantern." Simon contemplated how to tell Hal that Somar-le will be in danger from the mysterious figure and the question is why bother involving Somar-Le at all unless it is to use her as a hostage.
"What if I were to tell you that Somar-Le will be put in danger in the future? That an enemy of the Green Lantern Corps will be putting her in danger to use her as a leverage?" Asked Simon nervously at Hal. Then the older Green Lantern replied:" That won't happen the Green Lanterns will help to watch over her and protect her and I will also fight to protect her from any danger:" Simon hearing about Hal's determination felt that it was nice to know that Somar-Le won't be facing any problem in the Corps and that she would be well cared for but the concerns of the visions made Simon realize she will be kidnapped alongside Hal but the reason why is unclear as there is only so much he knows just by looking at the visions itself.
Time has passed since the conversation they had on the Emerald Sight and that night had already arrived when the two Lanterns finally arrived at Coast City. The plan was for Hal to walk back to his apartment and to wait until the Green Lantern Corps to contact Hal for any further assistance in the missions. When the two Green Lanterns landed on the ground they changed into their civilian outfits and made sure no one saw them. Hal was used to getting home by himself but now having Simon a young Green Lantern walking with him for protection is odd. Hal thought in the past few months that whatever is happening to his body is something that never happened to another lantern before and that what happened to him should not be repeated. Sometimes Hal spent thinking if he regret taking the Gauntlet from its case as that way Hal's condition would not have appeared. But then again if Hal did still have the old Green Lantern Ring that was not created by him then Hal would have disappeared alongside the other Green Lanterns. There is no use in thinking of hypotheticals and that he should focus on what happens now in the present.
For a while the walk seemed a bit too quiet in which the streets were not as busy as say more famous cities like Central city, Metropolis, Gotham and Star City. Hal heard a noise from behind him and readied his ring as he turned behind him. Simon, already knowing what will happen, immediately transforms into his Green Lantern uniform to put up a shield as a yellow blast of energy attempts to hit Hal. " I can sense that you are following me. Who are you and what do you want?" Asked Hal at the hooded figure in which he can see has blue skin and is shorter than he is. Simon instantly recognized that this figure was the Maltusian from his Emerald Sight visions and that it seems like when Simon offered to go with Hal the events leading to Hal's capture is still inevitable and all he did was alter some things such as instead of Hal walking along by himself; Simon is with him. Still, Simon can't help but try to fight against the vision he saw by trying to prevent Hal's capture with his willpower.
The hooded figure spoke: "It has been a long time Jordan, I can see that you have gotten powerful over the years. But unfortunately for you so have I. Surely you would remember me after all it was you who defeated me last time" After the person finished speaking he lifted down the hood revealing a Maltusian with yellow eyes. When Hal took a good look at the figure he said: "It can't be..it is you Krona."
Simon looking at the Maltusian now known as Krona felt something off with this being like he was unstable. Krona took notice of Simon and spoke:" Another Earth Green Lantern is here with you Jordan that is not supposed to happen. Begone!" Krona used his energy blasts to attack Simon but he had used his constructs to reflect the energy away from him as Simon informed Krona that he will not let him take Hal away:" I know what you are planning I will not let you take Hal Jordan and I foresaw of this by my visions." The Maltusian looked at the human in confusion but then realized what Simon meant.
"I see now out of all the Green Lanterns you have the Emerald Sight. To think Ion would bless someone like you with this gift is unexpected. I will spare your life, human that is if you hand over Jordan to me he and I have some business to take care of." Simon is confused about what Krona said about him being blessed by Ion to have the Emerald Sight but how? Simon never met the will entity in person and he thought that the ability was just a rare power granted to a few Lanterns but to learn part of the reason why it is rare is that Ion blessed Green Lanterns with this ability is something new he did not know before.
Hal, not standing for this mess, decided to make a move first by forming missile constructs to strike at Krona. Hal did not understand how Krona came back from the dead as in the last time he heard Atrocitus already took Krona's corpse to Ysmault the planet of the Red Lanterns. Something else had to have been responsible for bringing back the mad Maltusian.
Krona fought back against the two green lanterns whose constructs were powerful and then he grimaced in pain when Simon's lasers hit him on the right arm therefore cancelling Krona's energy blasts towards his enemies. Seeing as he has no choice now Krona pulled out an object from his cloak as it turns out to be a white medallion. Simon saw the medallion in his visions on how when it was used on Hal it made Hal react to it in a way like he was weakened. When he took a close look at it the medallion radiated a bright white light power and the symbol the medallion held was the symbol of the Life entity.
"You have made me have no choice but to use this trinket. I was hoping it would not resort to this but if you do not come with me Jordan then I will make you submit." Krona exclaimed as he aimed the white medallion towards Hal's direction, Hal not knowing what to feel about seeing some medallion decided to summon his green light to defeat Krona only for it not to work. Hal's seeing the medallion had an effect on Hal he did not know like Hal felt part of his being drained and that he could not move. Hal's entire body emitted that same green energy as a few days ago reacting to this mysterious object's presence.
The other Green Lantern seeing what is happening was bothered by what he is seeing as whatever that object is it clearly only affects Hal and not Simon. Then Krona stepped closer with the white medallion glowing intensely. "The medallion works on Jordan. There is no doubt about it now on what he is becoming. It is quite clever for the entities to hide this away even taking this secret to their resting place" This made both Green Lanterns react in shock at what they are hearing; the emotional entities had a secret in the form of the white medallion they see before them and lastly Hal is reacting to this object for some unknown reason and Krona being vague in his answer of knowing what Hal is becoming.
Hal willed himself to attack using his ring but it felt like the medallion was weakening Hal in close proximity so Hal fell onto the ground. Is this what Superman felt when exposed to Kryptonite as his main weakness? Krona seeing this event was pleased to know that he could weaken Jordan with the medallion he had found some time ago.
Simon formed several constructs to be used as weapons to fight Krona except Krona used some sort of power to restrain Simon keeping him pinned in place while at the same time surrounding Hal in yellow energy to imprison. The Maltusian began to fly up alongside Hal and opened up a portal to leave Earth. "Wait, where are you taking Hal? You will not get away with this and the Green Lantern Corps will stop you." Yelled Simon at the opposing blue figure.
Krona laughed at the human's defiance as he revealed:" I am taking Jordan to somewhere you lanterns will not be able to find easily and what I do with him is not your concern. The Green Lanterns will not be able to stop my goals." Before Krona could disappear, Simon caught a glance at Hal raising his right hand with his ring glowing and that glow sent to the sky. Simon recognized it as a distress signal which was used to send out to alert the Green Lantern Corps in case of emergencies. Then after that the two disappeared through the portal leaving Simon alone at isolated streets in Coast City free from his restraints.
What Simon hopes will happen now is that the Green Lantern will intercept the signal and send Guy, John and Kyle to Earth so that Simon could inform them of Hal's abduction and possibly warn them of the danger.
Note: Here is the third chapter of Glowing Entity. I apologize for the delay in releasing this chapter but I was checking it over. In this chapter we learned about many things that will be discussed in the future chapters. There is a hint that Simon's ability the Emerald Sight is not just a special power granted to Green Lanterns it was also involved with Ion the Will Entity being the one to bless these individuals with this ability. In this chapter we see Krona who mysteriously came back and then he kidnaps Hal away from Coast City with Simon not being able to stop the event. There is also a mysterious object called the White Medallion introduced and there are some things yet to be revealed about the object such as why does it affect Hal only and not Simon Baz who was right next to Hal?
In the next chapter we will get to see the other Earth Green Lanterns appear when they get back from a mission and then they receive a distress signal that makes the Earth Green Lanterns head back to Earth to find out what happened. As for Sinestro, he will still be with the Legion of Doom doing side missions and then he is confronted by Luthor about his behaviour regarding Hal Jordan.
