Note: Five chapters to go after this one, then the story will be over. Before we get started with this chapter, I want to say thank you to Joel-Robert-Dayton and Vincent Berkan for liking and following this story. I know you guys on Facebook, as well as Ron Broadfoot and Yamagata, so I should thank you all for liking the story and leaving reviews. Now then, let's move on to chapter eleven.
Chapter 11: Proposal
Bentley and Annie were hanging out in Annie's backyard, her parents having given them permission. They were just playing with each other, having nothing much to do. However, they had something on their mind: whether or not to partake in vigilante justice. Cyril had spoken to them about the concept, so they couldn't shake it out of their minds. Even if they wanted to help bring down the monster who raped Lisa, they couldn't be seen with a weapon, not even a firearm. Something big was going to happen, and that something would make headlines.
"Bentley!" A familiar voice called out.
Hearing the voice, Bentley saw that George was coming near the house.
"What's going on, Dad?" The little boy asked.
"I'm going to be out of the house for a while, bud." George answered, "Don't worry, I'll be back when I get done doing something with Mr. Sneer."
"Mr. Sneer?" Annie asked.
"Did he talk to you about vigilante justice?" Bentley asked.
"He talked to you about it too, didn't he?" George asked.
"Yes, but we're conflicted." Annie answered.
"Why can't we come with you?" Bentley asked.
"I wouldn't forgive myself if either of you got hurt during the manhunt." George said, "Besides, both of you are too young to handle firearms."
"When you come back, can I talk to you about something?" Bentley asked.
"Sure, but I might be a little wiped out from the manhunt." The older raccoon answered, "I should get going before the others get concerned."
"Bye Dad!" Bentley called out as George walked away.
"Bye!" George called out.
When he left, Bentley and Annie looked at each other.
"Want to go in the house?" Annie asked.
"Sure." Bentley answered.
Bert made his way to Lisa's house, where he knocked on the door. He was greeted by Nicole, who was happy to see him.
"Bonjour, Bert." Nicole said.
"Hi Nicole," he responded, "is Lisa upstairs?"
"Yez, but zhe hazn't come out all day." The female stated.
"She doesn't have to come out." Bert said, "I'll go up to her. Can I come in?"
"Oui." Nicole answered.
Bert walked up the stairs to Lisa's room. The moment he got to the door, he saw it open. Standing in the doorway was Lisa, who looked depressed.
"Hi Bert." Lisa sadly greeted.
"Can I come in?" Bert asked.
Lisa moved out of the way, allowing Bert to enter her room. Once he was in, the two raccoons sat down on the bed.
"Why are you here, Bert?" Lisa asked, "You didn't call, is there something wrong?"
"Lisa," Bert spoke, "I know that it has been rough for you ever since your attack. Not only were you in pain for quite some time, but now you have been confirmed to be pregnant. However, you don't have to lose hope, as everyone around you is there to comfort you. I am one of those people who is there for you, and I want to be there for you until death."
"What are you saying, Bert?" Lisa asked, somewhat surprised by Bert's speech.
Bert kneeled down before Lisa, taking her right hand in his left one.
"Lisa," he said, "do you want to get married?"
"Right now?!" Lisa was more shocked than happy.
"I know," Bert said, "it's not the right time for me to propose, but I want to take care of you in my own way. While I might not seem like perfect husband material, I might be perfect father material."
"Bert," she stated, "I'm flattered by your proposal, but I think that we should wait before we get married. You're a nice guy, but we shouldn't be so quick to rush into it."
"Is your answer 'no'?" Bert asked.
"My answer is 'not now, but later'." Lisa answered before kissing him on the forehead.
"Can I give you the ring?" Bert asked.
Lisa nodded, receiving a a golden ring with a sapphire studded into it. The younger female smiled, giving Bert another kiss as he sat up on her bed again. The two smiled at each other. Even if they couldn't get married now, they could still be together.
Cyril, Cedric, and Captain Pepper had entered an ammunition store in order to grab some supplies. While they were in the store, they got boxes full of bullets, boxes full of shells, and camouflage clothing.
"Why did we leave Mr. Knox outside?" Cedric asked.
"Beats me," Cyril said, "when is George coming back?"
"He said he'll be back when he gets done talking with Bentley." The younger aardvark stated.
True to Cedric's words, George entered the shop.
"Mr. Sneer." The raccoon greeted.
"What's the situation, Mr. Raccoon?" Captain Pepper asked.
"We've got someone wanting to join the manhunt." George answered.
"Tell them I'll be right there." Cyril said.
"What about the ammo, Pop?" Cedric asked.
"You and Captain Pepper should take care of it." Cyril answered, "All we're getting is ammunition, my boy."
Cyril and George walked out of the store, where they were greeted by two familiar silhouettes.
"Here they are." George gestured towards the silhouettes.
"Mr. Sneer, we want to join in on your manhunt!" A masculine voice said.
"And we're doing it for not only Lisa," a feminine voice said, "but also the rest of the innocent women who are at risk of being violated by this madman!"
Note: It's pretty obvious who the two people talking to Cyril are. Suffice it to say, I could easily have said who they were as they spoke to the millionaire aardvark. The more this story comes to an end, the more suspenseful it will get. I can make the chapters longer if anyone wants me to. What did you guys think about this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review or give a constructive criticism. Until next time guys, peace!
