Chapter 11: The Truth about Gold D. Roger
" Phyllis, can you please stop crying so much, you're embarrassing me." Rinka asks her big sister while blushing. The older woman said with tears coming from her dark brown chocolate eyes. "I'm sorry but I just can't help it, today you're turning 19 years old. It feels like it was only yesterday you were an annoying little brat that always got on my nerves. But now you are a strong, brave, intelligent, and powerful swordswoman." Before Rinka could say anything else, Phyllis was holding out a small box that had a perfectly tied red ribbon on top.
"I was planning on giving this to you at your birthday party, but I just couldn't wait any longer." she said.
When Rinka was done unwrapping the box she realized it was an old journal that had a thick leather cover that surrounded it. "What is this?" Rinka asked.
Phyllis says with a smirk ",that is the same journal I use while traveling with the Roger Pirates."
"Are you really giving this to me?" Rinka asks with widened and teary eyes.
Phyllis nodded. "Yes, you are the only person I trust to use the knowledge that's in my journal for the greater good." Just as Rinka was hugging her big sister she noticed something or someone was coming their way. "Hey Phyllis, there is a big group of pirates coming to the palace," Rinka said with a worried expression on her face. Rinka's sister responded with a smirk "Don't worry, I bet they are weak just like the other pirates we fought against in the past. I'm pretty sure we can defeat them easily." But Rinka's big sister smirk was gone when she got a closer look at the pirates that were now charging at them. "Beast Pirates," Rinka's sister mumbled softly under her breath. "Rinka, go into the palace and get reinforcements!" "Why are you acting so anxious all of the sudden ?" Rinka asks with even more of a worried look .
"JUST GO!" Rinka's big sister shouted. Rinka responded with a yes ma'am then started heading into the knight headquarters.
It only took the Beast Pirates 2 weeks to completely demolish the Vernal Kingdom's most powerful military forces and also wipe out the whole entire country from the map.
"Died!" Rinka shouted when she tried to strike the man who just ruined her life. But her attack failed when Jack had easily blocked her attack with his devil fruit ability. When one of Jack's subordinates got a closer look at the person who had almost assaulted the all powerful "Jack the Drought '' he could see a young beautiful woman with radiant scarlet eyes and long silky purple hair.
When Sheepshead saw Rinka he gave her a creepy grin.
"Why are you smiling at me so much?" Rinka asks with an angry tone. But the man didn't respond to her question, instead he swiftly grabbed Rinka by her throat.
"You bastard , don't you even think of killing my child! " Rinka's sister shouted when she saw Rinka being choked to death by a man with white hair and had 2 black horns sticking out of his head.
"You stupid bitch, do you honestly thinked I'm going to kill such a beautiful lady? She can bring a lot of joy to Jack. But I will kill you, Morgan Phyllis. Once everyone hears that I killed one of the Pirate King subordinates I will go down in history."
Phyllis's face turned pale when Sheepshead said that. "How the hell do you know my real identity?" Phyllis asks with gritted teeth. "I told him. You shouldn't give out such delicate information, Miss Phyllis." A man with light blue hair stated with a smirk. "Malachite! But why, aren't we friends? "She cried out.
He began to laugh hysterically. "How do you think this assault was so successful?"
Before Phyllis could say anything else, Jack was holding 2 swords in both of his hands.
"NO!," Rinka yelled with tears running down her face as she was trying to escape from Jack's underlings that were pinning her down.
"I love you,"Rinka's sister mouthed to where Rinka was being held down before she was killed.

When Rinka woke up she realized it was another nightmare. "How are you feeling?" Law asked when he saw Rinka yanked her head . "Okay," was the only word she said while getting out of bed.
"Where are you going in such a rush?" Law asks, raising an eyebrow. Rinka responded with an annoyed look on her face" I need to get my stuff from the hotel." Law replied with a smirk"Don't worry about that, I already got Bepo to do that for you."
"That's good to know,"Rinka said with a grin. "Yep and now you don't have any reason to leave right this instant." Law said with a smirk. "And why do you care so much about that?" Rinka asked, even not knowing if she wanted to know the answer. Law had been wanting to ask Rinka more questions about the New World and this is the perfect time to do so. "I want you to tell me more about the New World ." Rinka let out a sigh of relief because she thought Law was going to ask her more about her past.
Rinka went on explaining about what it was like in the New World, while Law would listen carefully and ask questions every now and then.
"When we go to the New World you will need to get a new log pose. The log pose that is used in the New World has 3 needles instead of 1. The New World is such an abhorrent challenge that some pirates call the Grand Line "paradise" when it's compared to it. The New World is mostly under control by the 4 Yonka instead of the World Government. And most of the New World pirates are also Haki users."
Before Rinka could say anything else, Law stopped her when she mentioned Haki.
"How important is Haki in the New World anyway?" Law asks.
"Pretty much all pirates in the New World can use at least 1 type of Haki."
"How can a person get or possess Haki?" Law asks while leaning back into his chair.
"Everyone has haki in them, it just has to be awakened and then perfected through training. You can do all sources of useful stuff with it... like how Rayleigh easily took off that collar at the auction house. And also how I use conqueror haki to get away from Admiral Akainu."
"I just need to awaken haki through training… how interesting.." Law said while leaning farther back into his chair.
Rinka nodded to Law's statement. "Yep and I can sense you have already unlocked a little bit of your haki ."
"Really what type?" Law asks while getting a little closer to Rinka's bed.
"I'm not really sure, but I suggest you should first start off with observation haki. That was the first type of haki that my master taught me with."
Before Law could say anything else he could hear a light knock from the infirmary door.
"Come in,"when Law said that he could see a group of pirates coming into the room.
First Penguin and Shachi came in, and Zane , Lucas and Thorn right behind them.
Before Rinka could say anything to her visitors, Zane and Lucas started hugging her tightly. We were so worried," Zane said. "We were looking for you all day." Lucas added. "What babies "Thorn mumbled loud enough for everyone to hear. " Shut up Thorn, you were the most worries when you heard Rinka was kidnap ."
When Lucas said that Rinka then started smirking at the orange hair medial.
"Awwww, you were happy to see little old me."
Thorn's face turned a bright shade of red,"Damn it Lucas why did you have to tell her that." Lucas responded "Because you were acting like an asshole, Shrimpy."
"Shut up pretty boy!" Thorn shouted. Rinka tried her best not to lose her temper but it was no use since the 2 won't stop yelling at each other . "Could both of you shut up!" Rinka yelled as she was getting out of bed. "And where do you think you're going?" Law asks with a smirk.
Rinka turned her head and locked her bloody red eyes into his dark piercing gray eyes . "I need to do my ship duties, Captain." Law tried his best to hold back his chuckles when Rinka called him captain. "Okay ,do you need someone to help you to get around?"
"No I'll be just fine." She said while walking to the greenhouse with no problem.
A week had already passed since the Heart Pirates left " Singing Wind's Island" and Rinka was currently sleeping in her small quarters.

"I'll get even... I'll get even with you bastards! I'm never ever gonna let this go.. I will kill you and I don't care how powerful your captain is."
Rinka said with teary eyes to one of Kaido's right hand men. But he just laughs at Rinka's pathetic state.
"Do you honestly think you can defeat me? Now listen to me girly and listen well, you are too weak and you will always be weak. You are nothing more than a helpless little girl, just become my wife and you can be protected by a big strong man you desperately need. " "And YOU! I'll make you regret the day you were born." Rinka shouted while pointing at the traitor of Vernal Kingdom. "Out of everyone in the Beast Pirates including Kaido. I Hate you the MOST!…"

"Malachite!" Rinka yelled and woke up suddenly. She yanks her head up from her pillow and hits her head really hard on the metal walls that surrounded her bed .
"Damn it that really hurt!" she yelped while rubbing her swollen head. When she looked at her clock she realized it was 5:00 o'clock in the morning. Since the crew doesn't wake up until at least 2 more hours, she took advantage of the alone time she had to make the medicine that she told Law about because the recipe for it is top secret and Rinka's big sister only entrusted her with the journal that had the list of ingredients in it. Rinka then quietly tiptoed her way to the greenhouse and galley to collect all of the supplies that were required. After Rinka was done gathering everything she needed she quietly walked into the infirmary room to use Law's surprisingly very advanced medical equipment she had ever seen before in her life.
Law had suddenly woken up even after a late night of reading when he heard loud noises coming from his infirmary room. "Who the hell is up this early?" Law mumbled questionly while quickly putting on his yellow and black hoodie over his shirtless body. When he went in the infirmary room he could see Rinka was burying her face into a strange book. "What are you doing and why are you up so early?" Law asked while rubbing his tired eyes.
Rinka responded without looking up from her book "I woke up a little too early so I decided to make that medicine I've told you about at the last island we docked at," just as she said that she then turned around from the opposite direction where Law was standing. When Rinka was a little distracted by her work, Law took a little peek at the book she was reading and realized it was a medical book for different types of medicines and illnesses he had never heard or seen of before. "Miss Rinka could you please tell me where you got that book from."
Rinka let out a heavy sigh. "It used to belong to my big sister. These are all of her most important notes and recipes on medicine she had collected when she traveled around the world. I was really ecstatic and shocked when my big sister entrusted me with her journal."
Rinka started shedding a few tears from her luminous red-eyes when she remembered all of the fun memories that she had with Phyllis
"Can I borrow it?" Law asked
"No! Sorry Law , but you can't read it. Because most of the knowledge in this journal is really dangerous for just anybody ."
After Rinka was done wiping off the tears from her pale face, she realized Law had her journal in his tattoo hand, "I'll be taking this." He said while running to his room.
Rinka then started yelling all sources of stuff as she was banging on his door. "Law, you bastard give it back!"
"Law this isn't funny! My master only entrusted that journal to me and no one else." "Go away, I'm reading" Law shouted in an annoyed tone. "Please Law, there is a good reason why my master only trusted me with her research. " NO matter how much she pleaded, Law just plain out ignored her.
"Hey,hey what all the ruckus?" Penguin asks with a loud yawn.
"Yeah, why are you 2 fighting in the crack of dawn?" Shachi added.
When Rinka heard the 2 mechanics voices she now realized the whole crew was awake and was focusing all their attention on her.
"Rinka is having a temper tantrum because I am simply borrowing her book." Law said while walking out of his room.
Rinka swissly turned her attention to where Law was standing with the book in his tattoo hand . "Law, you should respect my reasons on why I don't want you to read my journal." Rinka shouted in pure rage at the person she was supposed to call captain.
"Why are you making such a big deal if I read your late sister's research. Are you hiding information about your big sister I should know about ?" Law asks while walking closer to Rinka's face, trying to see if she would lie to him or not .
,Rinka froze from where she was standing and then started smirking to Law . "When you force me to join your crew against my own will, I knew this day would have come but I didn't know it would be this soon."
Law and the rest of the crew were just dumbfounded by Rinka's statement but still remained silent.
"Come on Rinka don't leave us hanging!" Thorn shouted with a twitching eye.
"Whhhaaaaatttt!" Every single member including Law yells in perfect unison with their jaws dislocated.
"You're sister was on Gold Roger's Crew?" Penguin asks, not knowing he heard that right. "Yep. In fact. She served as the ship's doctor. Her full name is Morgan Phyllis !"
" Morgan Phyllis!" the crew shouted while trying not to fall hard on their asses .
"Oh so you guys know who she is." Rinka said with a light chuckle.
"How could we not. That woman was a freakin monster !" Penguin said with widened eyes.
"She's in so many books. She's legendary!" Shachi added.
"It's hard to believe, I mean. Gold Roger was executed 22 years ago, wasn't he? How did one of his most famous crew members avoid getting her head chopped off,too? The Marines captured the entire crew ,didn't they?" Law asks in a serious tone.
The Heart Pirates just stood there in plain silence just waiting for Rinka's response.

"The Marines didn't catch Roger. Well,the Captain turned himself in."
The whole crew gasped with widened eyes.
"The government made it sound like they'd caught him. Probably to make themselves sound cool. I don't know, that's just what Phyllis told me while she was drunk." Rinka said with a light grin.
"The " King of the Pirates" turned himself in? Why?" Bepo asks while trying to process the shocking information he just learned.
"Because he was dying. About 4 years before his execution. Roger found out he had developed a fatal disease. No matter how great of a doctor Phyllis was, the illness that Gold Roger had was incurable. He knew that the illness would take him away from this world eventually. Three years later,while Phyllis managed to keep the disease at a bare minimum, Roger achieved what was said to be impossible.
He conquered the Grand Line. "
Zane started biting onto his lip so much to the point it started bleeding. "Okay, but what happened after Roger conquered the sea?"
"Gold Roger's final orders for his beloved crew to live their own life and forget the past. So the Roger Pirates were secretly disbanded, one by one, everyone discreetly left the crew and lived their new passion or meaning in life. Then about a year after the Roger Pirates disbanded.
The same man who had achieved the impossible turned himself in and was incarcerated. Phyllis, being one of the most loyalist crew members in the Roger Pirates, had attended her former captain's own execution . And one of his final words before his death was something like this: While they may execute me. I won't die."
"Damn that is hardcore!" Thorn muttered softly under his breath.
"The World Government and the Marines must've been shocked. With one last remark from Roger the public execution that was meant to serve as an example and a warning to other pirates, instead became the opening ceremony to what would become the Great Pirate Era! In seconds he changed the dim flame of his life into a raging hellfire that spread across the world! Phyllis had never laughed as much... Nor she had cried as much... Nor drank as much as she did that night. Roger is one of the many few pirates that I have grown to respect. "
"But how did she work at Vernal Kingdom without being recognized as one of the most well known and popular crew members in the Roger Pirates." 'Law asks with the most confused expression on his usual calm and smug face.
Rinka responded with a small smirk "She is just really good with disguises. No one had ever suspected that the head commander of the Vernal Kingdom knight's military forces was also the "King of the Pirates" ship's doctor as well. But now, Phyllis and Gold D. Roger is finally once again reunited in the afterlife ."
"Rinka I gotta ask,what was it like training with such a legendary pirate?" Lucas asks with pure curiosity in his voice.
Rinka's smirk was gone and was replaced with a facial expression no one in the crew had even seen before. Somehow she managed to mix terror and happiness all into one expression.
"She made me go on a surprise vacation," Rinka said in quotation.
"What's so bad about a surprise vacation?" Penguin asks with a raised eyebrow.
"Well... her definition of a vacation is leaving me on a deserted island with nothing but a sword for an entire month. Each day on that stupid island I had to hunt down for my own food and fight against animals that were at least 5 times my size just to survive. All I did on my stupid vacation was sleep,hunt,eat,fight,and getting eaten by alligators and sing myself to sleep until my month in hell was over. She started that terrible tradition to leave me on a deserted island ever since I was 11 years old . The best part of that stupid tradition was after my month of torture was over she will give me a cake .
Since I just adore sweets she uses that as a "I'm sorry for leaving you in a freakin dangerous Island all by yourself "gift . "
Silence…
"Did you just say…"
"She left you on a deserted island…"
"With no food or water…"
"And you almost got eaten by alligators…"
"And she has been doing that ever since you were only 11 years old…"
"For a month…"
"All BY YOURSELF…" almost everybody yelled in unison.
"Was she trying to kill you?!" Bepo exclaimed.
"Honestly, I'm not really sure,"Rinka said with a light shiver.
"If that was her vacation then just imagine her home life." Shachi whispered into Penguin ,Lucas, Thorn ,and Zane's ears.
"What kind of fuck up tradition is that?!" Thorn shouted loud enough for everyone to hear. The rest of the Heart Pirates only nodded their heads in agreement.
Jean Bart, Jerry, Charlie and any other crew members who thought Rinka was just a pretty face looks at her with respect.
Even Law looks a little shocked.
Law now coming out, his shocked trans realized they were side-tracking about the reason Rinka was pissed off at him.
"So… Rinka, why are you against it if I read the journal of such a legendary pirate?"
Rinka's facial expression became darker and she lowered her head down,making her hair cover her bright scarlet-eyes. "It is because it has forbidden medical knowledge people use during the Void Century.
Because of Phyllis's old age and dangerous lifestyle, she needed to bequeath her great discoveries she found while traveling with the Roger Pirates to someone who can be trusted to use the knowledge in that journal only for the greater good.
Please Law,this is for your own crew safety, if word gets out you have any type of knowledge of the Void Century then the world government would probably send 1 or maybe 2 admirals for your crew's head. Do you remember how the world government completely destroyed the island of Ohara just for just trying to learn about the Void Century. "
" The Blank Century…"everyone mumbled softly under their breath.
Law started gripping tighter onto the journal like if it would just disappear from his tan tattoo hand. "Miss Rinka, last time I checked I'm the captain of this crew and I don't take orders from anybody else." Law said with the most sadistic smirk Rinka has ever seen from him in her life.
Rinka's eyebrow twitching in anger, knowing there is no way to convince Law into giving back her journal. "Fine read it,but just don't blame me if an admiral comes for your head." Rinka said with a loud huff of annoyance.
Dear readers, in case you are confused, Rinka does not have a big sister. Rinka's master, adopted mother and big sister are the same person.
When Rinka was a kid she would call her master big sister ,and her master would get annoyed when Rinka called her that. Rinka was left on a deserted island 7 times ,that means every year since Rinka was 11 years old, Phyllis would leave her on an island for a month.
Ps. Rinka's master is named Morgan Phyllis just in case you didn't know who that name was in this story.
