SUMMARY: Hawks finally get to meet Endeavour in person and that's not the only redhead he meets that day. This is Hawks' point of view when he meets a certain blue flame quirk user.

WAVERING SPIRIT

Hawks noticed that his little blond friend had been distracted too often lately. He would catch Katsuki spaced out or forget things and even though he knew Katsuki didn't like him to worry over him, he couldn't help but worry. That's because he's a good friend! Friends worry about each other's well-being, right? He glanced at the boy beside him who was glaring at the ground, "You've been awfully quiet today."

"Hah?" asked Katsuki as he turned to glare at the older boy.

Hawks peered at him, eyes narrowing. He realized how tired his friend looked, "Are you getting sick?"

The younger boy pushed his face away, "No! And ever heard of personal space?"

"If you're not feeling well maybe you should sit this one out," said Hawks with a sigh, slightly irritated with his friend.

"I said I'm not sick! Jeez, get your ears checked, bird brain!"

Hawks opened his mouth to say something but he was interrupted by Kitamura over the intercom, " You two ready? "

Hawks grinned and threw up a thumbs-up, he'll have to wait until their simulation is done to talk with Katsuki. Kitamura sighed, " Alright, I'll explain this one more time. The objective here is to go through the obstacle and destroy all the targets marked with your colour. Remember, you must destroy all ten targets to get the best time. And no flying, Hawks."

Hawks pouted at the reminder. No flight also means he's limited to wielding two of his large feathers as weapons, he knows the drill. Well, he gets why he needs to get used to it but it still sucks. He likes to get things done swiftly. He knew Katsuki must be smirking, "You gotta run. You can't rely on your wings all the time. "

Running, ugh

"I'm gonna beat you!" said his blond friend with his usual confidence. Hawks admires that side of him.

Hawks smirked, "Cute. Let's see if you can catch up, shrimp!"

They fell into their starting stance as the countdown started with a beep. They sprinted into the obstacle zone as the buzzer rang. The winged teenager had two of his largest feathers ready in his hands to be used as swords. His eyes darted around for his targets, he ignored the blue marked ones and continued running. He grinned when he spotted two bots with red markers and he quickly made a dash to destroy them before they ran out of his sight.

One of the bots skidded before spinning around to attack him. He instinctively swung a kick at it, sending it crashing a few feet away. The other bot was out of his sight but he could hear the pitter-patter of its metallic legs nearby. There was a metallic screech and he looked up to see a bot jumping from atop a crate. He slashed it into pieces swiftly before it could touch him. The pieces of the bot sizzled and sparked as they dropped to the ground.

A glint caught his attention and he spun around just in time to slice a bot in two as it leapt at his back. He ducked as another one shot out from one of the stacks of crates. He threw one of his feathers at it and grinned as it hit its target, pinning the sizzling bot against a crate.

These bots were made to be quick but they're very easy to break; a punch or a kick could easily destroy them. He could hear explosions from Katsuki's side of the field and he chuckled at the image of his friend going overboard against weak bots.

There was another loud explosion and he could hear Katsuki shouting, "Take that!"

Hawks turned to the scoreboard below the timer. He grinned, "Better hurry up, Kats! I just got my fourth point!"

"No way!" came Katsuki's reply.

"Pick up the pace slowpoke!"

He ran off to find the rest of his targets. He believed it was good luck that he kept finding them in pairs. He wasn't paying attention to the sound of explosions from Katsuki as it became background noise.

The exercise's objective is pretty simple compared to others. They only had to destroy ten targets quickly before the time runs out. He's done plenty of such exercises and each time they give him a new one, the time limit shortens. He's never failed at this sort of training exercise, came close to it a couple of times though.

When Katsuki started training with him, he realized they didn't adjust the timer. He was worried that his friend wouldn't be able to reach his goal on time but Katsuki surprised him on their first exercise together. He remembered Katsuki's words when he asked how he did it.

" I just gotta be fast enough. When I become a Pro Hero, I can't afford to waste time. Lives will be at stake and the villain needs to be taken down quickly. "

Hawks realized he never took being a hero too seriously. He was just going with the flow, had to do his best, get good grades and achieve the objectives given to him. He never thought or even tried imagining what it would be like once he got his Pro Hero License.

Katsuki was different. He really does his best, to be the best. He really wants to be at the top, even going above All Might. To be the best of the best.

" Why do you want to be a hero? Why did you join this program ?" the boy had asked.

Hawks had stared at him wide-eyed and tongue heavy as lead in his mouth. He was embarrassed to admit that his reason wasn't as inspiring or noble as his friend's. So he changed his perspective and goal.

He's gonna be a cool hero like Endeavour and he's gonna go for the top. But… is that good enough?

Hawks was focused on looking for the last bot when he heard Katsuki suddenly shouted, startling him, "Show yourself, you scrap metal!"

His wings twitched and he had the sudden instinct to take flight so he could have a better view of his surroundings, also have a glimpse of the temperamental boy, but he wasn't supposed to fly. He bit the side of his tongue in annoyance.

There was a whining sound and he ducked in time to dodge a bot that was aiming for his head. He flinched when one of its metallic legs nicked his shoulder. He leapt back a few times to distance himself from the bot. It didn't give him a chance to distance himself as it skittered toward him faster than the other bots. He threw one of his feathers at it but it dodged, barely, and now he only has one left to defend himself.

Hawks narrowed his eyes, everyone called him the fastest candidate for nothing. Time to show this scrap metal that he's faster! He waited for it to approach him again. The bot made that whining sound again and it skittered toward him, moving in zig-zags and then it leapt into the air, aiming for his head again. He waited for it to get closer before he sliced it in two.

" Time for Hawks. That's nearly 3 seconds apart. "

The winged teenager blinked. Oh, Katsuki beat him. He threw his head back and groaned. The brat's going to be so smug. He instructed his feathers to return to his wings as he walked toward the exit. He rolled a shoulder, it was feeling a little stiff, he needs to spread his wings for a stretch. Hawks saw Katsuki walking out from his side and his eyes widened when he saw the younger boy cradling his right arm, "Hey, what's wrong?"

Katsuki reluctantly showed him his hand and grumbled, "Got something stuck."

"Looks painful. Let's get you checked by Gotou-san," said Hawks as he placed a gentle hand on the boy's small back. He looked up at the observation deck's window and raised his voice slightly, "I'm taking the kid to see Gotou-san. He got a piece of metal sticking out of his hand."

" Noted. Report to me after that. We need to go through your exercise together. "

Hawks made an 'ok' sign with his fingers and led Katsuki out of the room. He could feel a slight tremble from his young friend, "How bad is it?"

Katsuki shrugged, "Not too bad. My hand's kinda numb. I think I overused my quirk."

Hawks clicked his tongue, Katsuki always tries to downplay his injuries, "You gotta be careful, kid. Overusing your quirk could've caused permanent damage."

"I know that! That's why I'm training so hard!"

Hawks grinned and ruffled his hair, "Hey, be like me. Work smart , not hard ."

"I beat you anyway."

"That you did."

They walked in silence and Hawks discreetly try to gauge how much in pain his friend was but the boy was good at keeping his face from revealing too much. They paused as the door to the infirmary swung opened. A tall, imposing man with a muscular built stepped out. Hawks instantly recognized him and he couldn't believe his eyes. It's his idol! Here, in person! The Flame Hero, "E-Endeavour-san!"

The no.2 hero in Japan turned to them and Hawks felt overwhelmed with joy. He must be dreaming! He gotta make sure Endeavour's real! He briskly approached the hero, his eyes wide and mouth slightly hanging open. The flame hero eyed the teenager, "You must be one of the brats training under the agency."

Endeavour knows of him! Well, kinda. His gut was doing some weird flips and he could feel his heart racing and face heating up, "I- Y-yeah! I'm so honoured to finally meet you, sir! There are so many things I wanna ask you but-"

"I don't have time to talk with a fanboy right now," said Endeavour coldly.

Hawks nodded his head, "Of course, you must be busy! I guess I'll talk with you another time?" he asked hopefully.

Endeavour's eyes narrowed, "There won't be another time. I don't like wasting time in idle chit chat with brats."

Hawks bowed, "I'm sorry for holding you back!"

The flame hero scoffed and walked away. Katsuki approached him, "Hey, you okay?"

Hawks grinned at him, eyes still twinkling, "I talked with Endeavour-san! T-this is the best day of my life!"

"He treated you like shit though," said Katsuki carefully.

"Doesn't matter, that's just his thing, you know? The whole cool and scary persona!"

Katsuki tilted his head and asked, "Why'd you look up to him anyway?"

"He's my favourite hero! Like how you and Izuku-kun adore All Might but for me, Endeavour's the best hero!" said Hawks as he watched Endeavour until he was out of sight.

"Yeah? Well, I do agree that he's both strong and cool but the way he talks to you…"

Hawks turned to his friend and grinned, "Hey, don't worry about me, okay? I know him, so his horrible social skill doesn't really tarnish his image in my eyes. Now, let's get you checked out by the doc!"

The elderly doctor looked up as the boys walked into his infirmary, "Hawks-kun, Bakugou-kun! What brings you boys here?"

"Katsuki got something in his hand," said Hawks coolly as he jutted a thumb at the boy behind him.

"Oh my, come here, boy. Let me have a look."

Hawks gave his friend a gentle nudge toward the doctor. There was a buzzing sound and he could feel his phone vibrating in his pocket. He took out his phone to read the text he just received, "Ah, I gotta go meet Ishikawa-san. He wants me to pick up a file. Will you be alright on your own?"

"I'll be fine," said Katsuki as he rolled his eyes.

"Okay, I'll be back soon! I'm leaving the kid in your hands, doc!"

"Don't worry, he's safe here," said Gotou with a chuckle.

Hawks flew out of the room leaving Katsuki with the doctor. He couldn't but hope to run into Endeavour again but if the Pro Hero was heading for the exit, his chance was pretty slim. He reached an office and knocked before opening the door, "Wataru-san! Where's that document Ishikawa-san asked for?"

The man didn't even look up from his computer as he waved a hand at the folder beside him, "It's this one. Get it to him ASAP, won't ya? The boss wanna read the report before the conference.."

"You can count on me!" said the teenager as he swiped the folder from the desk. He quickly made his exit and flew toward Ishikawa's office, taking the stairway to get to the upper floor quickly rather than using the elevator. He saw a man outside of his guardian's office, hand poised to knock.

"Hello! Do you need something?" asked Hawks curiously.

The man had dark hair slicked back. His eyes were dark and narrow and he had an aloof expression, "I'm here to talk with Ishikawa Ichiro."

"Oh, then you have the right room!" said Hawks as he opened the door without knocking. He noticed the man frowned slightly but he shrugged it off. "Ishikawa-san! I have the "file you asked for!"

The bespectacled man looked up from the document he was reading, "Ah, Hawks. Thank you for bringing it over quickly."

"Oh, and there's someone here to see you," said the teenager.

Ishikawa stood up, "Uchida-senpai! I thought you're coming tomorrow?"

The dark-haired man smiled, "I finished my work earlier than expected and decided to get here to discuss the program with you."

Ishikawa glanced at the clock on the wall and chuckled, "It's kind of late, isn't it? Why not we discuss tomorrow?"

"I want to get the paperwork done as soon as possible. You understand that my office is understaffed right now, right?"

"Ah, yes."

"How about we discuss over dinner? My treat," said Uchida with a smile.

Ishikawa glanced at Hawks who was lingering by the door, "Ah, I don't believe I introduced you to Hawks. Uchida-senpai, this is Hawks. One of our active candidates in the Hero Program. Hawks, this is Uchida Shuu. He's the assistant manager of the Osaka branch."

Hawks smiled and offered a hand to the man, "Hello, it's nice yo meet you, sir!"

Uchida took the teenager's hand and gave it a firm squeeze, "You're the famous kid from the Fukuoka incident years ago, am I correct?"

"That's me!" said Hawks, his smile faltering slightly at the man's stare. He sighed quietly when Uchida released his hand.

"I heard you're his temporary guardian now, is it true Ishikawa-kun?" asked Uchida with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes."

The older man smirked, "Didn't expect you'd take him in but you are your father's son after all. You're too kind. I heard there's a new recruit? A young boy with a powerful quirk?"

"That would be Katsuki!" said Hawks.

Uchida tilted his head, "I'd love to meet him too but I'll have my chance next time. So, dinner?"

"Well…"

"Don't worry about me Ishikawa-san! I can go out with Katsuki!"

"If you say so. Be sure to be home before curfew and keep in touch, do you understand?"

"Yes, sir!" said the teen. His phone buzzed and he quickly opened the text he just received from Kitamura, "Oh, I gotta get back to Katsuki! I'll see you at home, Ishikawa-san!"

Uchida chuckled as Hawks flew off in a hurry, "Quite an energetic brat there. And he lacks manners."

Ishikawa smiled, "Yes but he's learning to behave himself."

"You've grown soft, Ishikawa-kun. You smile so easily now."

"Huh? Really?" asked Ishikawa, flustered.

"People used to say you're a clone of mine. Too serious. Too strict. But they're wrong. You're as kind and compassionate as Kouki-san," said Uchida with a faraway look in his eyes.

Ishikawa wasn't expecting to be compared with his late father, "T-thank you, Uchida-senpai."

The dark-haired man laughed, "You should stop calling me senpai. We're about the same age, you know."

"Old habits die hard. Why don't you wait in the break room? I'll be done with work in thirty minutes."

When Hawks returned to the infirmary, Dr Gotou wasn't there. He went to the beds and paused when he saw someone looming over his friend. The stranger's hand was over Katsuki's head. He rushed forward and slammed the redhead against the wall, a feather pressed close to his throat, "Who are you?! How'd you get in here?! What did you do to Katsuki?!"

The older teenager glared at him, "Relax. I didn't do anything. I was just making sure he's asleep. And I was here before you guys got here."

Hawks blinked, "Oh, sorry."

The redhead ran a hand through his hair, "Tell the doc I'm going home. He shouldn't worry about me too much. It's not good for his health."

"O-okay."

The redhead shoved him aside and headed out. Hawks pursed his lips. Was he imagining it? That guy kinda looked like Endeavour. He shook his head and turned to look at his slumbering friend. He frowned at Katuki's flushed cheeks. He gently pressed his palm against his forehead, "You're warmer than usual. Hey, Kats. Wake up!"

Katsuki groaned when he shook the boy's shoulder to rouse him. The blond swatted at his hand, "G'off!"

"C'mon, sleepyhead. Time to get you home," said Hawks, amused at his friend.

The younger boy grumbled as he cracked an eye open and scowled at the teen. Hawks leaned against the other bed, not quite sitting on it, as he watched Katsuki try his best not to fall back asleep. He took out his phone and discreetly took a photo that he intended to send to the boy's parents. He seriously reminds me of a cat! He thought, holding back a giggle as he used a photo editing app filter to add cat ears on Katsuki's head. A grumpy cat, that is , thought Hawks as his grin widened.

Katsuki stretched as he sat up on the bed. He rubbed at his eyes sleepily, "What's the time?"

"Well, it's almost six in the evening," replied Hawks as he scrolled through the texts in his phone. He hummed as he clicked on Masaru's chat and attached the edited photo of Katsuki. He typed: " The sleepy kitten" then clicked send. It didn't take long for Masaru to reply with a laughing emoji with little hearts.

" Thank you, Hawks-kun. My wife would love this! "

"What're you smiling about?" asked Katsuki when he realized the teenager was grinning non-stop. Hawks waved a hand casually, "Was just looking at cute pictures of some kittens."

The boy scratched his head and tried to peek behind the winged teen. Hawks noticed and looked over his shoulder, "What it is?"

"He's gone."

"Huh? Who?"

"There was someone… never mind. Do we still need to go see old man Kitamura?" asked Katsuki as he slid down the bed.

"Oh, he said, we'll go through today's exercise tomorrow. He had to go attend a meeting somewhere," replied Hawks as he stuffed his phone in his jacket pocket.

"I see," said Katsuki distractedly.

Hawks watched as Katsuki smacked his lips together and frowned. The boy was swaying on his feet too. He reached forward and put his hand on the boy's head. Hawks frowned at the heat coming off the boy, "Hey, you okay?"

"Y-yeah. I just… I need some water. Forgot to drink after..."

Of course! I didn't see him drink any water after the exercise. He must be dehydrated!

Hawks lifted him up and put him back on the bed, "Wait here, I'll get some water for you."

It didn't even take a minute for Hawks to return with two bottles of water. He handed them to the boy before sitting beside him, "You really need to remember having some bottles in the training room. Your quirk relies on your sweat and you get dehydrated real fast."

"I know, I know. We got distracted about my hand, remember?" said Katsuki showing his bandaged hand. He watched Hawks typed something on his phone. The teen grinned and showed him the screen, "I just typed in a reminder. This way, I get to remind you to drink some water every hour!"

Katsuki sighed, "You freakin' dork."

"Wanna go out for dinner?"

Katsuki blinked, brain still muddled with exhaustion, "Wha-?"

"Let's go out and eat somewhere!"

"Are you… asking me out?"

"For dinner, yeah."

"Is this a date?" asked the blond with narrowed eyes.

"What do you mea- OH! No! No, no, no, NO! Not a date! IT's nothing like that! What makes you think of that anyway?! I asked you out because- I mean it's just- Ichiro-san's gonna be home late and you know how I suck at cooking so I was thinking about eating out for dinner but I don't feel like going out alone! So I was thinking if you-"

"Oi, shut it! You're rambling."

Hawks slapped a hand over his mouth and mummbled a muffled, "Sorry."

"Jeez, you can be as bad as Deku. Fine, I'll go with you but let's get changed first. We're gross."

"You up to it?"

Katsuki jabbed him with the water bottle in his hand, "I'm not gonna pass out. I'll be fine. So what do you wanna eat?"

"I want some fried chicken!"

Katsuki pulled a face, "You and your love for chicken meat. You know, that kinda makes you a cannibal, isn't it?"

Hawks tilted his head, "How so?"

"You're a bird and you're eating a bird."

"Hey! I'm NOT a bird!"

"Whatever, feathers."

"You can be so mean, you know?"

"Yeah, I've been told."

It was about two weeks later, maybe, he's bad at counting the days, when he met the red-haired teenager again. He paused at the gym's entrance when he saw the older teenager ruffling Katsuki's hair. He felt something weird in his chest at the sight. A feeling so unfamiliar and it kind of hurt. He tensed when a burst of blue flames appeared on the redhead's hands and he's ready to take action if something were to happen.

Katsuki wiped his hands on his pants as he got on his feet, catching the winged teenager's attention, "Thanks, Hawks."

"Who's your new friend?" asked Hawks as he handed him a bottle of water. He eyed the redhead warily.

Katsuki blinked, "Oh, you don't know each other? Uhm, this is Touya."

Hawks grinned widely as he offered his hand, "Hello! I'm Hawks! It's a pleasure to-"

"I'm sorry but I have to be somewhere," said Touya as he ignored the offered hand.

"Huh? But you said you got nothing to do?" asked Katsuki.

"I just remembered something. I'll see ya around, Bakugou," said Touya as he waved a hand.

"Huh. That never happened before," said Hawks as he eyed the redhead. He discreetly sent one of his smaller feathers after the teenager. He had been asking around and even trying to bribe Wataru to get info on the redhead but no one was willing to give him any answer. Apparently, all data about Touya is either classified, never been recorded or has been removed from the agency's system.

"What are you pouting for?" asked Katsuki.

"I'm not pouting!"

"Whatever. Thanks for the water."

Hawks flinched when lost his telepathic connection with the feather he sent to tag after Touya, that bastard! He burned my feather!

"You're in a mood today. What's up?" asked Katsuki who had been silently watching his friend.

"It's just… something feels off about that guy."

"Touya?"

"Yeah."

"You sure it's not because you're jealous?" teased the boy.

"W-why would I be jealous?!"

Katsuki giggled, "I was just teasing you. You're not jealous, are you?"

"Like I said, why would I be jealous?"

"I dunno. Maybe you don't want me to be friends with anyone cooler than you?"

Hawks gasped, "Are you saying he's cooler than me?"

Katsuki seemed thoughtful, "Yeah. He's way cooler than you."

The teenager slouched his shoulders and began to sulk. The weird feeling in his chest returned, making him feel nauseous. Katsuki nudged him gently, "Hey, I was just teasing you. If it'll make you feel better, I prefer idiots like you and Deku."

"Awww, Kats. Wait! Did you just call me an idiot?!" asked Hawks as he turned to glare at his friend.

Katsuki started laughing, "Yeah. That's what you are, bird brain!"

"You're mean!"

Hawks just finished his solo training when the building shook. He stumbled on his feet and turned to the observation deck, "What was that?!"

" Hold on, let me check, " said Kitamura as he began tapping on the tablet he always carried with him.

There was another explosion somewhere and then the alarm began blaring. He could hear Kitamura cursing and said something but he couldn't hear what the man said because the automatic announcement was heard over the speakers.

"A villain has infiltrated the building. Everyone please evacuate the building through the nearest exit! Those with combative quirks, engage the villain if you encounter him. "

" Hawks! Evacuation procedure! " said Kitamura, " Take the south exit. That seems the safest route from what I can see. That first explosion happened on the east side. "

"What about you?!"

" Don't worry about me! I'm gonna activate the sprinkler system manually to minimize damage. Find Bakugo and get out of here! "

"O-okay!" said Hawks.

" Don't engage the villain. Leave it to the combative agents . Just save as many people as you can! Your priority is to evacuate and minimize casualties! "

Hawks nodded and he dashed out of the training hall. He most of his feathers to search for anyone nearby and bring them to the southern emergency exit. His feathers zipped around the hall and collected anyone they encountered, and dragged them toward the exit. He's not far, he'll get to Katsuki in time!

His head was beginning to pound as his feathers sent him all the erratic information from panicked staff. He flinched when some of his feathers were destroyed, caught in an explosion. He growled, great! He won't be able to fly out. He had lost so many! But the good news was that none of his feathers encountered the villain, meaning the villain wasn't nearby.

Hawks faltered for a moment when he felt a familiar sensation when he lost a feather that he was sure had snagged someone. It felt like it was burnt to ash before he lost connection. Touya? He shook his head, why did the guy destroy his feather when he tried to bring him to the exit?

He reached Katsuki's training hall and found the boy looking confused, "Hawks! What's going on?!"

"I don't know either but we need to get out of here!"

"But there's a villain!"

"I know that! My order was to evacuate everyone, including you!"

There was a glint in the blond's eyes, "No! I'm staying!"

Hawks froze. He growled when he realized what the look in his friend's eyes meant, "Katsuki! Don't be an idiot and come with me!"

"They say anyone with combative quirk can engage the villain!" said Katsuki.

Are you crazy?!

Horrified, Hawks tried to reason with him, "You're just a kid! You can't be thinking about-"

"What are you two doing?! Get out of here!" cried a voice behind him.

Katsuki's eyes widened, "Touya?!"

Hawks turned to him, his eyes narrowing suspiciously, "You burned off one of my feathers!"

Touya glared at him, "I don't need your help to drag me out. I can manage. We need to move now. The villain is close by!"

"How do you know where he is?" asked Hawks suspiciously. No one knows where the villain was at that moment.

"Doesn't matter, we need to go!"

"No. There's something suspicious about you."

"This is not the time!" said Touya loudly over the blaring alarms.

The three of them stumbled when the ground shook with another explosion. Touya growled in frustration, "We need to move!"

"Katsuki, go for the south exit!" Hawks shouted.

"No! Take the east exit!" said Touya.

Hawks frowned, "The south exit's closer!"

He thought he heard Katsuki shouting something over the alarm.

"We need to evacuate through the east exit!" Touya shouted as he grabbed Hawks by the front of his shirt.

"No, they told us to take the south exit! The east exit's been compromised! It's closer to the first explosion!" screamed Hawks as he grabbed the redhead's wrist.

"Guys!" Katsuki shouted, catching their attention, "S-stop arguing you dumbass!"

There was an explosion behind them and they spun around, Touya releasing his grip on Hawks. There was the villain that he lured here. In the corner of his eyes, he saw Hawks grabbing Katsuki and shoved him behind him. Katsuki fell on his knees and Touya was worried at his pale complexion.

Touya grabbed Hawks' sleeve, "You take the kid and get out of here! I'll hold back this creep!"

"I- I can't!" Hawks choked. This wasn't the first time he encountered a villain but he had never faced one when didn't have all his feathers. He couldn't feel his feathers anymore, the remaining few on his back were useless! He shouldn't have sent most of his feathers away. They're all gone! He's useless without his wings!

Touya cussed and stood in a stance, "Use your legs , run!"

Legs, right! Gotta calm down! Shit, why am I panicking?!

Touya was out of his sight and he blinked in confusion before realizing what's going on. He watched blue flames come to life as Touya attacked the villain. His eyes widening at the wild flames, why does it look like he's not in control?

"Touya, look out!"

Hawks froze when he saw the sand spike pierced Touya's chest and the redhead let out a strangled cry. His blue flames vanishing instantly. He gasped as he hung in the air. His skin was charred and it looked painful.

The villain grinned victoriously, "Looks like I'll get to have my revenge on Endeavour!"

What does he mean by-

Hawks saw movement beside him and he stared in horror as he watched KAtsuki run toward the villain, "Katsuki, wait!"

He could hear Touya stuttered, "K-kid?!"

The villain threw a wave of sand at the blond. Katsuki yelped as he was caught in the sand, he stumbled back as he lost his balance. Hawks ran after him, to catch him and pull him back before he gets himself killed! He didn't know what was on the kid's mind, but he saw Katsuki raised a hand and slammed it onto his sweat-soaked chest.

"DIE!"

Hawks was thrown back as Katsuki released a large explosion. He hit the wall hard before falling on the ground heavily. He raised his arms to protect his head as debris rained on him. His ears were ringing. He took a moment to collect himself before he pushed himself off the ground, coughing at the smoke, "KATSUKI!"

He saw the boy lying in a heap and he scrambled to get to him. The villain was knocked unconscious a few meters away. He could hear the buzz of a helicopter and some shouting from beyond the gaping hole that used to be a wall. They sounded muffled but at least he could tell he didn't lose his hearing.

Hawks fell on his knees, ignoring the pain from the sharp rocks and debris. His hands hovered nervously over the boy's still form, too scared to touch him, "KATS?! Kid, open your eyes!"

"I-is he..."

Hawks looked up to see Touya struggling to prop himself up. His whole skin blackened and charred. Whatever remaining fabric he had was stuck to his skin and most of his hair was burnt away. He was a sight to behold. Hawks blinked at the tears in his eyes, "I don't... I-"

Katsuki can't be dead!

There was a cough and he looked down as Katsuki shifted. The boy groan in discomfort and Hawks let out a shaky laugh as he met Touya's gaze, "He's alive!"

Thank god he's alive!

Touya smiled as he lowered himself to the ground with a groan. Hawks frowned when he saw the redhead's eyes fluttered close, "T-Touya? Hey, man? Y-you okay?"

There was no response and Hawks felt his heart racing. What was he supposed to do?! He didn't dare to leave Katsuki's side and Touya's not a friend… but he tried to help them. And what has he done?

Nothing.

He didn't do anything while Katsuki and Touya risked their lives.

He was useless.

Katsuki's question echoed in his mind.

" Why do you want to be a hero? "

He still couldn't find a definite answer to that question. He stared at his trembling hands. He's not aware of what's going on around him anymore. He didn't hear Ishikawa calling out to him. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth.

"Why do you want to be a hero?"

Maybe… he's not cut out to be a hero.

A/N: Whew, finally done the three POV of the Katsuki-Hawk-Touya meeting each other! You may have noticed that I like to write the characters' perspective in certain scenarios in my main story (To be a Hero), I quite enjoy writing like this to show their thought and emotions that were not revealed. Hawks' carefree story has now shifted to grimmer tones. So, umm, be prepared? I may post a new chapter for TBAH by the weekend, but that depends if I'm able to finish some work early. Stay hydrated and have enough sleep! Take care of yourself everyone!
