Chapter 22: The Black Blade
"Wow...Rinka is slicing one man after another without breaking a sweat.
She did it! She cut down her 16th man!" The announcer shouted excitedly .
"-Hey!" a swordsman whispers to another man's ear.
"-Huh?"
"We should team up"
"What are you saying?! We're in the middle of a fight!" He responded.
The swordsman pointed at Rinka, "Look! That chick over there is slashing one man after another. Let's gang up on her, I mean she is just a girl she can't be that strong."The swordsman stated.
"Okay!"
They both started charging at the girl with both swords held up high in their hands.
Without even touching them, both men and a few other people who were near the girl had suddenly collapsed with their eyes rolled far back in their heads.
"I-I can't believe it! Without even lifting a finger she was able to knock out half of the competition! What a queen! Rinka!" The host announced with widened eyes.
"That was Conqueror's Haki! But how does this woman possess such a great power?"One onlooker questioned.
"Rinka and Bellamy's one-on-one fight! This should be an interesting match-up!"The announcer stated,
Bellamy ready himself for his special attack. "Hey there beautiful, if I win this thing then you must buy me dinner." "Okay, that's fine with me" She responded with roll eyes.
Bellamy calls out his attack. "Spring Snipe!"
Rinka holds her swords parallel to one another and slashes them at the same parallel cuts. "2 swords style ,2 cut Nigiri!"
Bellamy swissly dodges Rinka's upcoming strike then aims for a direct attack toward her head.
When her swords made contact with Bellamy's spring legs, the sound of metal colliding echoed through the arena. "Not bad, but you're far out of my lead."Rinka said while smirking.
She jumped high in the air, slashes both swords in a downward left direction. "Moon Crest!" This time she landed a good direct hit right on Bellamy's chest, now she has him right where she wants him. For her final attack she started spinning her 2 swords in front of her, charging at Bellamy and then up in a crouched position with her Katana in front and Law's nodachi behind. "2 sword style, Dragon Cry!"
With only 2 of those attacks, Bellamy was left on the ground completely defeated.
"Here is some advice, if you can't even defeat me then you are nowhere near Straw Hat's level."Rinka whispers softly in his ear.
Bellamy looked up from where the smirking girl was standing ",H-How do you know." He asked. "I met the rubber idiot, and he told me lots of stories about his great adventures." With that simple last comment she finished off the last competitors.
"Going to the second round is...Scarlet Knight Rinka!" The announcer shouted.
After Block G and H was over, it was now time for the finals. A woman with shoulder-length dark blue hair and wearing red glasses won Block G, and Cavendish won Block H which was also the last Battle royale.
"Yoi, Rinka" a familiar voice calls out.
"Yeah, what do you want now?" Rinka asks from where Cavendish was currently dining.
"Let's have a side bet, if I win then you must join my crew."Cavendish said while taking a sip of wine.
"Sure, because I know I am going to win!" She responded with pure confidence in her voice.
"We have now come to the final battle between the 8 people who made it through the preliminary rounds.
Please watch until the end, now everyone enjoys. And also the betting pools are now officially open for business." The host of the tournament was stated through a large microphone .
The referee started explaining the rules. "Listen up! The terrain is different, but the rules are the same, that is there are no rules. The match continues until one candidate acknowledges defeat or dies. That being said, if I determine that a match is over, I can step in and stop it at any time. Understood? These are the opponents for the first match... Tashigi and Caribou , Captain of the Caribou pirates. Just those 2 stay. The rest of you go to the waiting room."
"Alright let the battle!"
"Ding!"
"Begin!"
When Tashigi first charged into Caribou and tried to cut him with her sword, she realized that her sword was being sunk into his body. "What the?!" Tashigi shouted. "Hahaha, nice try little girl but I ate the Swamp-Swamp Fruit, a Logia type . So attacks like those will have zero effect on me." His body then turned into a large swamp-like consistency and was now suffocating Tashigi. No matter how much she struggled and wrestled from Caribou's grasp she just couldn't escape from the mud that consumed her. Her eyes widen in pure terror, fearing that she is about to die right here and right now. No, she can't die. She needs to collect all of the Meito blades, especially the one from Roronoa Zoro.
"Alright that's enough, the winner is Caribou! Now let her go or you will be disqualified!" The referee shouted, not wanting to watch a woman die right before his eyes.
"Damn it, I'm still too weak." Tashigi thought to herself in pure rage.
With her head lowered down in shame, she left the fighting arena while gripping her Katana even tighter than before her match against Caribou. But that fight only gave her a more burning desire to become even stronger.
"Now it's time for the next battle...Yuki, Captain of the Charcoal Pirates and Haruta, the 12th division of the Whitebeard Pirates."
The battle was over in only about 5 minutes and Haruta was going to the finals.
"It's time-"The announcer stops talking when he hears someone yelling for his attention.
"Wait I forfeit, I give up!" A man shouted loudly, making sure the announcer could hear him.
"Okay, going to the finals it's Cavendish, captain of the Beautiful Pirates."
"Now it's time for the last fight in round 2...come on here 'Scarlet Knight Rinka and Puzzle, Captain of the Phoenix Pirates. Now let the fight"
"Ding"
"Begin!"
Puzzle scans down at his opponent and begins to grin. "Usually I'm not a man who likes hurting women. Let's just ditch this party and go out for dinner, seeing that you are quite a beautiful woman after all." He offers.
"Tsk..Like I'm giving up that easily, and besides I already have enough men like you who ask me out. And I always say NO!"
Puzzle shrugged. "Suit yourself, but my offer still stands after I defeat you."
Puzzle pulled out a large chain-like weapon and was aiming multiple attacks at the purple hair swordsman. "Chain hug!" He tried to wrap his chain around the girl.
"Nice try, but you're too slow." Wielding both of her swords, with a high jump in the air she executed an attack 2 times. "2 sword style...Raven Demon Hunt"
But surprisingly one swung with his long chain weapon, had deflected her 2 swords style attacks. " I'm kinda impressed," she decided to give him a small compliment. "Oh, so you're a lot more powerful than I thought." He responded with a cheeky grin. Rinka jumped in the air to block the hidden senbon that Puzzle had in his pocket and then landed back on the ground. As her boots made a crushing sound when they broke the stone floor underneath. The swordswoman put one hand on her hip and smirked, piercing him with her red eyes. "Not bad, now I will stop going easy on you."
"Well me either... For now on, we fight in full power…"Puzzle said in a serious tone. He was in a defensive pose now. Making multiple air slashes with her 2 swords. Her opponent made quick round movements, sending the chain all around him as a protective shield, deflecting the cuts and the pirate woman as well.
Rinka then lunged at Puzzle again and this time evaded the chain weapon and planted a kick squarely on his chest making him stumble back a few feets. Having him right where she wants him she calls out one of her most powerful attacks. "2 swords style, heavenly Tornado! With that single attack Puzzle went flying in a make shaped tornado while getting cuts all over his body. Recovering from Rinka's sword attacks he also called out for one of his most powerful moves as well "Chain cub-"
"1 sword style, Death Lion Song!" Putting her sword into its sheath the battle was officially over.
"Wow...Going to the finals it's 'Scarlet Knight Rinka!"
"Alright ladies and gentlemen it's time for the sudden death round. We have Cavendish against Haruta...Now!"
"Ding!"
"Began!"
"You can come on out Hakuba…"Cavendish said to himself before falling asleep.
"Blue Bird!" In a split second both of their swords collided again, making an echo through the arena.
With his tremendous speed he was able to cut the 12th division of the Whitebeard Pirates's side, who also preferred a fighting style based on agility and speed, rather than strength.
Sparks emanated from both weapons and 2 split, landing almost 8 feet away from each other. And once again they lunged for each other again. It was a great battle that lasted a good 7 minutes but in the end Cavendish became victorious.
"Incredible! Going to the last round...It's the beautiful captain….Cavendish!"The announcer shouted excitedly.
After that match was over, Rinka then made her way to where the fighting had been taking place. "Looks like it's my turn."
"Whoever wins here is going to the last round…"On this side we have the beautiful Scarlet Knight Rinka and on this side we have Caribou , Captain of the Caribou Pirates.
NOW Let the match…"
"Ding!"
"Begin!"
"Shall I make the first move." Caribou said while turning his body into a living-swamp.
Then he pulls out a machine gun out of his stomach. "Swamp Swamp...Gatling Gun!
I'll fill you with holes!" But she easily deflected all of the bullets with her swords. The man's facial expression suddenly changed into a shock look when he realized his bullets were not hitting her at all. "Is that really the best you can do?" Rinka asks while taking up a fighting stance. "2 swords style, Heavenly Tornado!" The swamp man went flying then made a crashing sound when his body broke the stone floor underneath him. Regaining his focus he activated his signature move. "What the hell, I'm sinking!" Rinka yelled in confusion.
"It is a muddy prison no one can escape! It's a bottomless swamp! I'm a Devil Fruit user. I ate the Swamp-Swamp Fruit and became a swamp man! The more you struggle...The more you sink!"
He then stabs her with a poison coated dagger, which is a very deadly type of toxin
for any normal human being. But she has been poisoned a lot worse before in her life, so it didn't affect her that much as it should have. Like the one time before she got bitten by a very venomous snake and had almost died, if Phyllis wasn't there at the right time.
But being in such a bad and weakened state she couldn't really think properly.
"Come on Rinka, think, what is the weakness of a Logia type devil fruit user besides the sea? That's right!"
With one slash with her haki coated weapons she was able to escape from Caribou's bottomless swamp. "What! But how!?" Caribou shouted in pure shock, since that attack always does the trick. Deciding she wanted to end this fight quickly she used one of her favorite and most powerful sword techniques. She started spinning her 2 swords in front of her, charged to Caribou and then ended up in a crouched position with her sword in front and Kikoku behind. "2 sword style, Dragon Cry!"
"This chick is on a roll….Going to the last round it's...Scarlet Knight Rinka!" The broadcaster Shouted loudly through his microphone.
Going back to the waiting room since she gets an hour break before her duel against Cavendish. She was now laying on the wall while drinking a bottle of water and had already taken out most of the poison but she needed to go to the infirmary room for a better examination. "Well, you're handling Kikoku better than I thought you would."A deep voice exclaimed with a little hint of amusement in his tone." "As a real swordsman I need to be proficient with any type of blade." She responded with a smirk.
"Hello, my darling." A smooth voice chimed in their small conversation.
"Miss Rinka, who is this?" Law asks with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh, I'm going to be her future captain and possibly her future lover as well."Cavendish stated proudly. Law eyes widen either in shock but mostly in anger. "Rinka explain yourself, that's an order!"
She sighs heavily. "Me and him made a bet, if he wins the tournament then I join his stupid crew."
Holding back the urge not to kill one of the famous Worst Generation members from stealing all of his fame and glory, Cavendish just smirks at Law.
"Ah yes, what's the best way to get my revenge on one of the members from the Worst Generation. Is by stealing one of your most beautiful and valuable crew members." Cavendish stated with a wicked grin to the Dark Doctor.
"Rinka, can I speak with you in private, Right Now!" He asked or rather demanded from her. "What do you want, Law? My match is about to start in 10 minutes."
"We're leaving, forget about the tournament and the stupid prize as well we're leaving immediately!" Law said while trying to drag Rinka toward the Exit.
"What?! No, I'm staying."Rinka retorted with cross arms.
"I wasn't asking, that was an order as your captain, we're leaving."
"But why? I'm in the finals."
Law gritted his teeth in anger, not wanting to share his reasons because it might and will offend the swordswoman. "I'm your captain, so do what I say ! We're leaving and that is final!"
"NO, look Law I don't get why you're suddenly against the idea of me competing in this tournament. You didn't have a problem with it when I asked you to borrow your sword." She retorted, not wanting to give up after she came this far.
"Well just because!" This time Law spoke up.
"Because what!?" She shouted again, now even more furious by Law's actions.
"Because I don't want to lose you, you're mine and no one else!"
"Are you doubting my skills as a swordsman!?"
"No, but I saw his battle against the 12th division of the Whitebeard Pirates and what is the best way I should describe it. Let's just say it was very intense."Law said while gripping even tighter on her arm.
But then Law noticed just how much pain she was in when he kept on touching her arm in a not-so hard way.
Law also noticed just how flush her face was as well.
When he lifted up her sleeve, he then saw a bandaged arm and what he could smell just by the strong familiar scent it gave out.
"You've been poisoned!" He shouted in anger but mostly was worried.
"I'm going and you can't stop me. And don't worry I already got most of the poison out anyway! Now let me go!"
Law signs, knowing she is not backing down now. "Fine, but if you lose then you will become a true enemy against your nakama. Heads up, be aware when he falls asleep because that is when he becomes a true monster. "
She then gave Law a smirk."Okay, I won't win just for me but for you as well, you big baby." Those were the last words Law heard from Rinka before she headed back to the arena.
"Now the fight all of you have been waiting for. The fight against the most beautiful swordsmen in the entire world is about to begin. This fight will surely go down in the books. On this side right here, we have "Scarlet Knight Rinka" and on the other side we have the "Pirate Prince, Cavendish"...Now let the battle ..."
"Ding!"
"Began!"
"Awwww… I don't know who I should route for, both of them are so pretty." One onlooker from the crowd exclaimed with hearts for eyes.
Cavendish moved his sword and in one swift long motion sent a slash at the pirate woman. Once again, the blond pirate lifted his sword, this time aiming for Rinka's side. The long sword shone brightly in the sun and in the next instant, the pirate captain managed to lightly cut her. Still, Rinka wasn't training all this time, developing her swordsmanship skills and haki as well further, to lose now. Rinka's haki surged through her body and finally her blades as well. She clutched both of her swords, blocking the swift attacks even though she could barely see or sense it.
"Haki! Impressive …"Cavendish commented seeing how easily his attack was countered by Rinka's swords. However, that didn't stop him from attacking again.
He sent a series of slice attacks with his blade at Rinka, so quickly that the human eye could barely follow the blur that was his sword. Yet Rinka managed to hold her own, moving quickly to either dodge or block everyone of Cavendish's slashes.
As soon as she found a chance, the swordswoman did multiple somersaults backwards, giving herself more distance from her opponent. No longer on the defensive side, Rinka swung her swords, the attack charged with haki, aiming to slice Cavendish in half.
Behind him, a part of the seats in the arena cracked and screeched loudly as it split into two. Screams and swears sounded from the building as the audience moved out of their chairs.
Oops..Sorry about that!" Rinka shouted to where the people were evacuating. Rinka could feel the energy surging through her body, focusing in her hands. The swordswoman blocked one attack, sliding her katana over the man's blade as she shifted into real attack mode. However before she hit, he blocked with his sword then tried to deliver a round kick at her head which she evaded by crouching down.
She jumped back once to get some more room and then used her leg to push forward, right as the pirate captain also charged at her with his next sword attack. The 2 sharp steels collided, making a spark again. They were so evenly matched that the fight lasted through the day.
"Unbelievable, after 10 hours of non-stop fighting neither one of them hadn't given up or died yet!"The announcer shouted with widened shock eyes.
"I didn't want it to come to this, but you left me with no choice."Cavendish stated before letting Hakuba take charge.
"What the hell where is he?!" She thought to herself when Cavendish vanished into thin air. "Ahhhh!"She yelps in pain when she feels something or someone cutting her left shoulder. "I will chop up your entire body. Scarlet Knight Rinka! I will cut up everything!"Cavendish or Hakuba or whoever shouted to the swordswoman.
"Ugh! Hakuba you went too far!'Cavendish yells to himself.
Cavendish was so fast, to the point that he moved too fast for the eyes to track; even with her haki she can barely see him.
Rinka closed her eyes and concentrated on her Observation Haki and tried her best to dodge all of the speedy pirates' sword strikes. Through the most part she managed to dodge or reflect most of his deadly swiss attacks. After a while doing the same thing block, dodge, block , dodge all of his strikes had suddenly stopped and Cavendish was lying on the ground completely unconscious.
"What the hell just happened, did I win?!" "Hey blondy, are you still alive?" She asks while poking him gently with the tip of her sword.
The audience but mostly the Heart Pirates who came to support their nakama were about to fall out of their seats. Since all of them were just dying to know who just won the duel that has been going on for 10 hours by now. After a while the dust cloud that had built up from where the 2 swordsmen blades had collided, had finally cleared up.
Panting, she put one sword on the ground to stabilize herself while proudly holding up Law's nodachi with her left hand. "Yeahhhh!"
"Oh My God! Against all of the odds the winner is...R...Rinka! Without any questions, a tremendous win! Is this the true strength of the next, " Greatest Swordswoman in the World? "The host shouted with teary eyes.
The audience erupted into nothing but clapping and shouting as they praised Rinka for her great win.
"A-awesome!" 1 onlooker stated.
"The cheering just won't stop!" The announcer exclaimed.
"Rinka!" A group of Heart Pirates excitedly shouted while running toward the girl.
"Sorry you guys. It took longer than I thought it would. Ow!"
"You were great!" Penguin said.
" I've got a lump in my throat…" Shachi said with a rough scratchy voice.
"Come on...It wasn't that cool, I just really got lucky."Rinka stated with a light blush.
"Did she really just apologize because it took longer than she expected." The Referee thought to himself, not knowing if he heard her right.
"Hey captain, here is your sword back." Rinka said when she saw her smirking captain.

"Cheers to Rinka's amazing victory!"Penguin declares with a raised beer mug.
"Here here!" The Heart Pirates then loudly bang their mugs together as a party on the sub starts. "Hey Rinka, show us that cool sword of yours again."Zane asks, kinda interested by the blade's unusual color. "Alright." She then unsheathes her new katana again. "Hmm...In my entire life, I have never seen a real black blade sword before." Jean Bart said, never actually seen a real one before or even knew that they exist.
Rinka loves her new sword, she can really feel her father spirit within this katana, but when she first tests out the blade.
Though it is capable of dealing extremely heavy blows, Kuro no tenshi has come with major problems. Among them is that it turned out to be a " problem child" which Rinka described as a ``temper" , making it difficult to wield, as well as being significant heavier than Yato and even Kikoku, which contributes to the decreased control Rinka has over some of her attacks. But in time, Rinka might and will master Kuro no tenshi negatives attributes.
"Captain! There are Marine ships at 12 o'clock!" Shachi said while pointing at the multiple Marine's ships coming their way.
